Oh yeah! Americans…read morefrom California here. Who would've known that mashed potatoes, sausages, and gravy would go so well together! Loved every bite. Got the gravy on the side, didn't think I'd use all of it, before I knew it, it was all gone. And you wouldn't think that the type of mash or type of gravy or type of sausage would matter that much, but they really do all have distinct flavors! I will be mixing mustard into my mashed potatoes from now on. Originally came for the sticky toffee pudding, so of course we ended with that. Marvelous! The toffee sauce is so comforting and rich, the cake was so moist, and it was perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Didn't detect any dates, maybe they were too finely chopped. Also the apple and blackberry crumble just didn't hit the same; it was slightly dry and on the sour side (maybe don't take a bite directly after the pudding!) Service was so helpful and friendly; I'm sure they love watching people fall in love with their food. Quick with refills and offered extra condiments if needed. Great air conditioning as well (always a plus), and I loved the green blacksplash and blackboard caligraphy on the walls as well. Bangin'

the poor rating has to do with the rude staff at this location. i'm not sure if he was the owner or…read morea staff member, but there was an older man who was very rude to us when we arrived. we entered the establishment, as that is what you typically do when you want to dine at a restaurant, and he came up the stairs and didn't even offer a greeting. i mentioned that we had a reservation for that time and he immediately just kept repeating that our table was outside. we went outside to their small patio dining area, and saw that there was a table with a "reserved" sign on it, so we sat down. i thought it was incredibly rude that he spoke to us in that manner, and it seemed like he expected us to somehow know that that table was ours before we had even spoken to any staff. i was seriously considering getting up and leaving but i decided to give this place one more chance. it then took a while, but we were eventually served by a much more pleasant and friendly younger server, who helped make this experience better. i would give this place a lower rating, however i must admit that the food was delicious. as an american tentatively wanting to try british bangers and mash, this exceeded my expectations. we all spoke about how the sausage was plump, snappy, and delicious, definitely one of the best we've ever had. the mashed potatoes were also amazing- cheesy and heavenly, and i'm not even usually a mashed potatoes kinda person. i am glad that we stayed solely for the delicious food, but i would not come back because of our experience with the staff here. the place already was one of the emptier spots on this very busy soho street anyway.

Excellent Sunday roast!…read more We came here for Easter dinner and not disappointed! The staff here is warm and welcoming. I was worried that they would run out of roast so the hostess had me email her our order ahead of time. She was super accommodating! We started with some cocktails and wine. The cocktails were delicious! For dinner, my mom and I shared the chicken to share and my dad had the veggie Wellington. Everything was delicious! The chicken came with Yorkshire puddings for both us! They were AMAZING! I now love Yorkshire puddings, but who wouldn't?! They're flakey on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside! Yum! It also came with veggies, potatoes and stuffing balls! We had a food baby at the end! My dad had a spinach and Ricotta Wellington with a Yorkshire pudding as well! He loved it and was very impressed with the meal. Best Sunday roast here!!

I had the roast beef which came with carrots, parsnips, roast potato and a Yorkshire pudding. I wasn't in love with the Yorkshire which was a shame but everything else was good. Mac & cheese side order was great. My daughter told the waitress that her meal was the best (we got her & her sister some of the sides..broccoli, mac & cheese and fries). For dessert we shared strawberries & meringue between three of us, which was light & fresh. I do wish the music was turned down just a little..hate it when I feel like I have to raise my voice to have a conversation with the person opposite me.

Tillie was our server and I wanted to make her my friend! The sweetest smile, the kindest personality and demeanor. It was like a warm hug being served by here. I came in convinced we were going to do the chef's choice meal but there were too many specific dishes we wanted to try so we went in that direction. Started with the rip and dip platter with GF bread. Pitas looked amazing but the GF bread worked great too. The smoked cod dip was unreal. For mains we shared the fried halloumi, sea bream, chicken and calamari. That fried halloumi has been in my head for days now, I'm obsessed. Nothing special about the calamari but the sea bream was bright, nutty and delicious. And the chicken was juicy and the sauce was addictive, I couldn't stop eating it. We got the med cheesecake for dessert and the sourness of the cheese paired with the crunchy kataifi was so good! I can't stop talking about this place and will visit again later this year. Huge fan!!

The environments are really pleasant and airy. You feel as though you've been transported outside of London to a restaurant on the coast in Crete. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch but still I do feel as though wnen I'm inside the grey-on-grey atmosphere of the local environment disappears. Food itself is mostly really good. Some personal favorites are the pork and feta sausages which are so comparable to the kind of sausage you'd have camping in the mountains in the States that my sentimentality is for back home rather than the Mediterranean! More on theme is the lightly fried aubergine skewer which is one of the most delicious preperations of eggplant that I've ever had. The greek salad is small but radiating with fresh flavor - you'll be surprised that something so simple as so satisfying. Less tasty is the chicken - I've tried this a couple of times and while the chicken is relatively juicy the seasoning is just a bit on the bland side to really resonate. I have also tried the trout which is near indistinguisable from salmon - not necessarily a bad thing and certainly the fish is fresh but ultimately it's not that exciting of a dish. Overall Brother Marcus is definitely a good spot and especially if you're in Canary Wharf which has a spotty upmarket restaurant scene. Go for it.

This pub was so different before renovated and has been brought back to life to such a high standard - all the original details are here with new tufted leather banquettes and old animal taxiderm box scenes . The overall feeling is more upmarket and gastro pub-like. Feels very special occasion and slightly formal. It is not really really expensive but this is not cheap - you can have a main meal for £ 11-15.00 and deserts around £5.00 - it is the drink that will top the bill. I know it does not make sense but I have a problem with no smoking -Not that I want to smoke as a former smoker - I just really miss that smoky atmosphere - I know we are all healthier my clothing smells better in the morning and it is nicer to not eat around smoke but pubs should have a bit of a haze about them - So this is my only bad words about the pub - no haze ..otherwise great ..
