Brian, the owner of this company, went above and beyond to make sure my friends and I had a great experience. I was in town for a conference with coworkers, and he made everything seamless. Communication was easy through phone and text, and he quickly set us up with a tour guide the very same day. He even sent us a promo code to make things easier--super accommodating. The tour itself was excellent. The weather was perfect, but what really made it memorable was our guide, Vivian. She wasn't just reciting a script--she fully embodied the stories and the vibe of the city. Without spoiling too much, I'll just say she knew exactly how to tailor the tour for us. Since our group didn't have kids, she leaned into a more mature version of the stories, which we really appreciated. The route gave us a great look at the Gaslamp District, and we even had special after-hours access to a museum. One of our group members caught a photo of an orb there--it was deliciously creepy to explore the place at night (in the best way!). Normally, you'd have to pay for admission during regular hours, so this added even more value to the experience. Vivian also took us into historic bars with fascinating backstories. We got to pause for a drink while she shared ghost tales and history, and after the tour, we could return to those same bars and skip the cover charge--another great perk built into the ticket price. A group of close to 300 attended on the opening Sunday during the last weekend of September. After picking up a VIP pass in the admission area, we were escorted by workers to a pavilion near the back of the facility for a pre-reception before the festivities began. Several tables were set up with various food and drink offerings. Part of our package included two free drinks from the mobile bar. The following were the savory bites that we sampled... * Chicken Flaming Hot Cheeto Bites * Chips with Cheese Sauce, Barbacoa, and Pickled Jalapenos * Devil Sliders * Mac & Cheese (regular and hot crumble) * Spaghetti Pocket The dessert offerings included churros and a parfait cup that contained a very sweet pudding mix that I don't believe anyone was able to completely finish. The chicken meat was pretty juicy which I consumed after stripping away the exterior. The meat and cheese sauce with the nacho chips were also decent. There was a photo booth available for us to mug for shots with or without props. I liked how well spaced the seating was which facilitated mingling with the other attendees. As the clock approached 7:00, we exited and headed towards the Carnival Stage where a brief Opening Scaremony was held. After that concluded, everyone started dispersing to visit the attractions that featured five Haunted Houses, seven Scare Zones, and six Vile Vignettes. Three of the large rides were also operating. I managed to try the Electric Eel and Emperor multiple times. There was too much ground to cover in just four hours so we prioritized the haunted houses. Thank goodness the VIP pass shortened the wait time to enter them. I didn't find any of the five to be particularly scary. Three of the haunted houses did have a speakeasy located inside where we stopped at each one. At 10 pm, a Monster Stomp show from a troop of performers was held at the Nautilus Amphitheater. The Yelp group was afforded the opportunity to sit in the middle section of bleachers. The music and choreography were pretty impressive. I stayed for only part of the performance because I wanted to take advantage of the short lines for the rides. For someone that has never attended a theme park Halloween event, I thought the whole production was solid. Thank you to Hannah and Yelp SD for spending much time to arrange the logistics of such a large group event.

I saw this listing for the Star Brews Beer Fest at the Air & Space Museum on a Saturday night and I knew I had to go. Am I a big Star Wars fan? Nope. (I even liked the new movie which is a crime apparently.) Am I a big beer fan? Nope. But I saw there would be food and a Darth Lair of Ciders so I was in. Well actually first I checked if Wilson was interested and we bought tickets before they sold out. A girl has to secure a beer-loving wingman for these things. I put on my Baby Yoda t-shirt to blend in and headed to the museum eager to do some serious sampling. Pro: We had so much fun! I didn't care that the food situation sucked or that I had to stand in line for the bathroom for 15 minutes. I was hanging out with one of my favorite people ever, drinking a lot of different beers, listening to a band play (Sega Genocide who were playing a lot of fun covers), enjoying DJ playing inside the museum, and enjoying the Star War costumes. I lost count of the stalls, but I think there were at least 13 beverage stalls and each had at least 2 taps. When you walk in you're given a souvenir cup with which to sample the beer. Most beertenders filled it halfway, logical given the unknown crowd size. I appreciated it in case I didn't like the flavor. Of the beer I liked Java The Hutt from Latchkey Brewing the most. It's a crisp, dry porter, featuring Mostra Brazilian coffee and Ecuadorean cocoa nibs according to their website. I don't even know what a crispy dry porter means but it was rich and tasty. Surprisingly mead was at this beer fest thanks to Hidden Hive coming out with a Light Side Rose Wine Sangria and a Dark Side Red Wine Sangria. Both were delicious but the light side with those peachy notes was my favorite. My heart as always belongs to ciders. Ace Cider is one of my favorites and their blood orange cider was my favorite tap of the night. SoCal Cider, Julian, and Common Cider also had some booths going so clearly I was enjoying plenty of cider goodness. There was also a booth heading in where you could order Adult Blue Milk or Jello Shot Light Sabers. My heart was set on the blue milk though. For 10 bucks I got a frozen tropical cocktail. It was perfect! I also liked that they had a big table setup with coffee and water. Help yourself to hydration! Con: The food was limited to one mac & cheese stall, despite "plenty of food" being touted in all the event descriptions. I don't know if that was an intentionally misleading comment or if they had some vendors fall through. But paying 15 bucks for a bread bowl of mac and cheese is not my idea of plenty of food. Was it good mac & cheese? Couldn't tell you since I skipped that because it actually looked like mac & sadness. When I'm drinking I don't want mac & cheese and I definitely don't want bread bowls. I want wieners. Big thick wieners. Tacos also work. Wieners and tacos. Maybe wieners in tacos which is a very Not Not Tacos thing. Give them a call for next time, please. I'm sure there are plenty of vendors who would love to sell food at events like this and three could be found. Maybe Con: They stuck a cider stall back off the rear deeper in the museum. I think that was the Darth Lair of Ciders? I'll be honest that I was pretty drunk by this point and my recollection is hazy on signage. But that was the one stall back there and there were 3 other cider stalls on the main patio by the beers. You're not going to hear me crapping on cider because that's my favorite. Beer is inferior to a good apple juice and you can quote me on that. I just didn't like that a lot of people might have missed the SoCal stall and their Sex Wax dessert cider which was raspberry and chocolate. Luckily I wasn't one of them because Wilson had to use the bathroom. Props to his bladder also crying for relief after 2 1/2 hours of beer drinking. Slight sadness: I wanted to buy a couple Baby Yoda bottle openers but they sent an email to ticket holders letting everybody know they didn't get them. A girl has needs and and one of them is Baby Yoda everything. All things considered this was a great event. Plenty of booze, great music, the best setting for a space themed event, and all the fun? I'm looking forward to future Rock Star fests and the return of Star Brews already.

Rock Star came to San Diego a few years ago and I'll admit it was a rough start, but over the years…read morethey've grown to include a larger number of vendors and typically choose good venue locations. Their marketing has improved and their name has garnered a positive reputation for good reason. From the Irenic to the Waterfront and Liberty Station, Rock Star keeps things simple. Get local brewers to show off their drinks and have fun while doing it. They get entertainment and get plenty of people to rock out. Even better are the themes that range from Nightmare Before Christmas to the Wizarding World and even Star Wars, to which they'll setup decor, get actors, have the bands dress up, and of course rep the outfits themselves. Of course with a big name comes some problems, plenty of people show up so lines can get long, sometimes brewers will run out of beer if they have something that goes really fast, and a venue might put restrictions in place like the amount of people, vendors, etc. However, that's all a part of the growing process. No matter what though, when Rock Star comes to town, be on the look out for a good time.

Just completed another year at Comic Con. We completed almost everything that we set out to…read moreaccomplish; however, we recognize that this is not everyone's experience at the con. Over 100,000 people attend the convention annually and the lines, the line caps, the endless vendors, the offsite experiences, and the panels are overwhelming. We bought exclusive comics and toys, we went to Hall H panels about Avatar and Percy Jackson, we got autographs from Scott Snyder, Gabriel Piccolo, and Lucio Parillo, and we got to do some offsite experiences. But this all took a ton of preparation and planning, we woke up at 5am every morning so that we can be the first to enter exhibit halls for items that sell out in the first fifteen minutes, and we had to make decisions about what we wanted to prioritize and what experiences/exclusives/purchases we would be willing to sacrifice. In comic con, where wait times can be hours for a panel, studio experience, autograph experience, or shopping opportunity, time is a critical commodity. Even though we meticulously planned what we wanted to do, it was still impossible to get everything we wanted to get done. Many panels had limited seating. It was frustrating that award winning comics from DC had keynote panels in small conference halls that were insufficient for the crazy demand. Friends that went to the keynote Marvel presentation in Hall H had to sacrifice their time in line in direct sunlight for the majority of Friday and Saturday, but they also said it was worth it. We had to jump in the middle of a mosh pit to get tickets for autographs for our favorite comic book writer. In the future, I hope they just put a paywall for people to purchase the experiences they want (in lieu of having everyone waiting hours or days in line for those experiences). For stuff with ridiculous demand in hall H, what if they had a ticket to panels at Petco Park with high production drone shows? It would be controversial, but it could also be game changing. Nevertheless, if you decide to come to the convention, then my advice to you is to know what you want to prioritize for yourself. Do you just want to walk around and take everything in? Cool. Do you want to hunt down exclusive toys and comics? Make sure you know what the vendors are selling in advance and buy them first thing in the morning. Also note that you may be able to score some exclusives through the vendors if they're participating on whatnot. Do you want to meet and greet your favorite artist or comic book writer? Follow them on Instagram and follow the blogs about how you can sign up for these experiences. Do you want to go to a panel about your favorite TV show or movie? Then make sure you know the schedule and you have a plan to wait for it. If your desired panel is in Hall H on Friday/Saturday, then you will likely need a wristband for it the day before. And you may need to spend most of the day in Hall H so that you have a seat for the panel you want. Lastly, if you're interested in making the most of your experience, then make sure you check the unofficial SDCC blog (sdccblog.com) on a daily basis on the weeks ahead of the conference so that you can stay informed of what's happening inside and outside of the convention center.

Made the trek to Comic Con with the kids…read more Tried the trolley at first but couldn't find parking so ended up parking at the Tailgate Lot which was permit only but reasonably priced at $35 cheaper than what was posted. Walked and waited in line for many attractions. Yes it was hotter than fish grease but at times the breeze from the bay helped make it manageable. Patience is a virtue and a good pair of walking shoes is necessary as well as water, sunglasses and a hat. Don't ever let anyone concince you to not join in the madness. It will be the best $1000+ dollars you'll spend on food, drink, meet and greets and of course comics. Remember to find time to take a break. I did and made my way to the library which was perfect. They had tons of space and the AC on full blast. Comic Con was safe, secure and well organized. Can't wait for next year.

We came here to check it out and it was pretty fun !! Lots of pumpkins and there were set up games for kids where you can win Mini Pumpkins and we won a couple which only costs 2 tickets to play !! The Service was ok and there were photos opps set up for you to take pictures . Plus they had an area for kids to pet Animals plus a little area for you to walk through a Haunted trail but it was nothing to scary . Overall a good Pumpkin Patch and I shall return next time when it comes back here !!

Mr. Jack O' Lanterns is such a great seasonal spot right in the heart of Clairemont. It's a perfect…read moreplace to take the kids for some pumpkin picking, fall activities, and festive photo ops. The setup is super family friendly, and the staff is always kind and helpful. They offer a nice variety of pumpkins and Halloween decorations, plus a few fun extras for the kids like games and little activities. It's not overly crowded and easy to walk around, which makes the whole experience stress free. We love having a pumpkin patch like this so close to home. Definitely worth a visit every October if you're looking for something fun and festive in San Diego!
