I used Hauserman for a long term lease when i lived in Tahoe City and they were hands down the best company i leased from during my years there. They were responsive if we had any issues and were an overall pleasure to rent from. I lived in about 4 different houses up there and definitely dealt with some shady slum lord types, so it was very refreshing to rent from a kind, professional group like Hauserman. I visit Tahoe often since i moved back to southern CA and Hauserman are the first rental group i look to when i am booking a place. I also appreciate their emails notifying me of deals. Their staff is kind and helpful and i have had nothing but good experiences with the locations i have rented. I hate to see the negative feedback on some of the other reviews, but as a former Tahoe local, i am not surprised by some of the complaints and exaggerated comments. Tahoe has an economy that relies heavily on tourism and most people are very respectful of the locals, the housing, and the environment, but sadly there are always a few that are not. As renters and visitors to such a beautiful and fragile place, it saddens me to see people letting their dogs poop on people's carpets or complain about rules and cleaning fees (which i know are clearly stated from my experience with Hauserman). These are often the people who do the same outside in the forest and at the lake and lack respect for surrounding people and areas just because they happen to be on vacation. As a child, we rented out our vacation home in Tahoe City and I remember guests damaging things like board games or decor (and luckily not anything more severe like doors or carpet). Guests need to remember that they although they are paying for an experience, they are staying in people's homes and in one of the most beautiful environments on earth and hopefully they can be respectful of that. read more

Be aware: your rental can be canceled even if you have signed the rental agreement and paid the initial deposit. Here are the facts of what happened to me when I tried to rent a house from Hauserman: ⁃I found a rental property that was suitable for my group, filled out the booking form, signed the rental agreement, and paid the initial payment. ⁃Weeks later, I got an email that said my rental had been canceled, with no indication as to why. ⁃I had to call them and ask what happened. They stated that the owner had decided they wanted to stay there that weekend, so they simply canceled my stay, despite the signed rental agreement. ⁃They were unhelpful in finding an alternative location, offering only another one of their properties that had less bedrooms and a worse location. ⁃I tried to work with them and asked to be transferred to other properties in their portfolio that were suitable for our group and more equivalent to our original rental, but they refused to allow us to transfer to one of those unless I paid the difference, despite Hauserman being the one that canceled our original rental. Just be aware that Hauserman can and will cancel your rental at any point and then basically tell you to pound sand. read more

We rented what was described as a basic house in the Homewood area today. We arrived to discover the laundry and the dish soap used to clean our linens was watered down? The towels and linens were folded and put away wet as they clearly didn't have enough time to clean? The pillows and all linens were old and very used. We paid a lot of money for this STR. Tahoe Getaways also allows this same behavior? Why are Tahoe area rental companies not providing basic cleaning services? Hotels/Motels would never get away with this? read more

Contracted our Tahoe home for the 2023-2024 ski season with Hauserman and our contact at Hauserman (Dana L) has been very challenging to work with. Challenges encountered: No ski lease or future tenants for the season No STR rentals ( not even holiday weekends) Poor communication and follow up Did not submit TOT for our STR until end of January. The house we rented had a fridge that was broken. We reported it multiple times and were told "that's how fridges work". Our food spoiled, my daughter got food poisoning and it ruined our trip. The microwave was also broken. The bedding was filthy and the towels were stained. We reported all of these instances and the excuse was "we thought it would last but now we will get a new fridge and we outsource cleaning so it's out of our control." They are the management company..... It's all in their control and their responsibility. We asked for a partial refund, they promised to get back to me and also to my husband and never did. We've used Hauserman Rental Group for approximately 25 years and have had consistent quality service from them for each visit. We've recently purchased our own place and we are now working with them as a property manager verses a rental customer. There were two times that I remember renting a place from a place other than Hauserman (Airbnb and Vacasa) and both times I felt it was not up to standards. I am not saying all other agencies are bad. Those are just two datapoints from my experience. Something to remember when renting homes in Tahoe is that there will be times when something unexpected happens (broken appliance, a leak, etc.) It happens. From my experience, the staff at Hauserman responds promptly and professionally -- that is why I selected them to manage the STR. Another thing to keep in mind. House-keeping staff, maintenance staff and general logistics is tricky, especially in the winter. Many of the people supporting the tourist come from Reno to support the industry. The window from when a guest leaves (11AM) and a new one arrives (4PM) is relatively short, and accommodating an early check-in or late check out isn't always possible. A lot happens behind the scenes in getting a place prepared. Adding a good snowstorm makes it even that much more challenging. This is just my perspective based on my personal experience. I requested to book a place in Tahoe and they asked me if I was bringing a pet and what the ages of my group were. I messaged that I was not bringing any pets and responded with everyone's ages. They declined my booking based off our age group. I am 34 years old and bringing my brother and his friends. I've never been asked my age for booking a reservation through Airbnb ever. My husband and I have very happily used Hauserman Rental Group to manage our Lake Tahoe townhome for about 15 years. The staff has always been very helpful to us as owners and has been incredibly responsive to the guests who rent our unit. When we bought our townhome in 2006, we thought long and hard about renting it out when we couldn't use it. I had a lot of concerns about wear and tear. I also wanted guests to feel comfortable and to have a great vacation. I wanted to picture guests skiing while we were working and to think of families playing games together while the fireplace kept everyone warm. Over time a few things have broken and needed to be replaced. There have been huge snowstorms and power outages and COVID. Hauserman has always done their best to honor the agreement we have with them and to accommodate guests who book our townhome. We've had occasions to appreciate Hauserman's abilities to make the best of things. I remember a very cold Christmas when folks who rented our place returned from a day of skiing to find that our unit's plumbing had frozen. As an owner who lives more than five hours away, knowing that Hauserman would respond and quickly unfreeze the pipes so the guests could take hot showers was such a relief for us. I'm sure the guests felt the same way too! Then there was the toilet that overflowed at a very inconvenient time for our guests. Hauserman responded immediately, did a clean up, took excellent care of our guests and kept us informed. We've since made improvements to our unit's plumbing but we know that "stuff happens" no matter how well-cared for our unit is. Hauserman has been in business for a long time in Tahoe. They have vast local knowledge and many contacts with local skilled workers. We are very grateful to Hauserman and appreciate all of their efforts to ensure that our guests have a wonderful stay in our home. read more

The folks at EnjoyTahoe.com were a great help this past week as I was looking for a pet-friendly cabin with very short notice. They have a wide selection of properties available on their site, searchable by location, price, pet-friendliness, etc. I called them in the afternoon and got several recommendations, then was able to get more details and see pictures online. Pretty easy process over all. We wound up finding a couple of very reasonably priced cabins that would allow for our dog, Jax, to come along with us. It's hard to find realtors who cater to people with pets, so we're glad to have found these guys. read more

Hauserman Rental Group has a number of properties in the Lake Tahoe area. I've been renting 3 or more units from them in the wintertime in Carnelian Woods and they have nice units and great prices. The http://www.enjoytahoe.com website has lots of good information to help pick your accomodations. Reservations are easy and picking up keys/dropping them off is a breeze. Last year there was a problem with one of the cabins (the pipe burst and the carpet in one of the bedrooms was soaked). i promptly called and was able to get a refund for one night's stay. Our friends booked a house for a weekend getaway for both our families to take our kids sled riding. Hauserman was great! Our friends found the home to rent on their website & said it was easy to book. Picked up the key on the way into town. The house was excellent as well! GREAT location and views, very clean and well kept. Fully stocked with games,sleds, fireplace with wood, everything we could need to cook in the kitchen...was perfect. The house was even better in person than it looked in the photos online. It snowed on the day we were to leave and were having a hard time getting the kids out of the house. We called Hauserman to ask for a few extra hours past checkout time to get everyone out the door & they gave us the extra time without a problem. We will use them again & highly recommend! read more

Very satisfied with our recent Tahoe rental through the Hauserman group. When we called in late November to book our winter vacation the man on the phone (can't remember his name) was very matter-of-fact, helpful and not sales-y. He greatly understated the view of Lake Tahoe from our rental home. After arriving late in the evening, we woke up the first morning to an amazing view, best I've seen. Good surprises like that make for very happy renters. The place itself was not all that special but it was well priced for the view and we would definitely rent the same house through Hauserman again. One other note: Due to the traffic getting up there we arrived late in the evening and Hauserman has a very simple after-hours key retrieval process which they clearly explained to us by phone. Nothing worse than a long drive followed by a hunt for the rental keys which we've had with other agencies. Not with Hauserman, and that was a welcomed change. read more

Thoroughly impressed with the communication and hospitality with HRG. My family and I arrived for our weekend Tahoe trip to an amazing layout of a house. Highlands Lodge is GORGEOUS. It's and open layout on the top floor, with a nice spread of the bedrooms on the bottom floor and very family friendly throughout. Multiple nooks, patios and rooms for little groups to go into to entertain themselves. I typically pick houses based off of kitchens, and I was not disappointed! I feel like the kitchen is the focal point of a gathering. Each room was presented wonderfully, they had everything we needed. Kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with everything as well. The jacuzzi out on the dock was a nice addition as the jacuzzi in the upstairs master. The only thing the house is missing is a pool table, but no complaints here!The neighborhood is fairly quiet of course, definitely because of the snowy weather and people being indoors from the cold. In non snowy weather I'm sure it's just as beautiful. The location of the home is also close to everything. Downtown, grocery stores, gas stations, liquor stores, Kings beach, the lake etc all within 5-15 min. HRG is something I will definitely look to use in the future and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a vacation family home in Tahoe. read more

I rented a condo with a lake view that had no lake view (trees with a bit of blue behind them), very uncomfortable mattresses, a pillow that gave me a neck cramp and no working internet. When I mentioned all this at check out, I was offered a shrug but no expression of apology or regret. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Very happy with our experience renting through Hauserman Rental Group! My family stayed in the Kingston home over Christmas, and it was perfect for my folks, in-laws, and cousin's family! We were originally checking out rentals through VRBO and AirBNB, but Hauserman let us rent directly through them to avoid the $150+ service charges that would have been added if we rented through VRBO! I am honestly surprised that there are any low reviews of this company. After reading through them, I thought "those people must not have read the paperwork that came with their contracts before paying!" The processes, rules, and expectations are outlined very clearly in our conversations and in e-mails we received prior to our stay, and the employees were always happy to offer any additional assistance. My favorite thing about renting through Hauserman is that they manage the properties locally and know all of their houses. They are honest about the condition of the homes and give great advice. We had specific needs, and they were able to help us narrow down the best options for our group. They have such an array of rentals from high end lake fronts to simple old Tahoe cabins and condos, and their customized customer service led us to a great rental with everything we needed! The house had all the amenities we needed with a large living space, a wonderful warm wood burning fireplace, and a well stocked kitchen that helped us avoid the crowds at the restaurants over the holidays and allowed us to cook most of our meals at home with ease! The kids (and adults!) had lots of fun playing in the snow in the yard and sledding behind the house. It was just a magical family vacation! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and look forward to booking again! We're already discussing a family reunion in Tahoe in the next summer or two. We've rented condos from the Hauserman Rental Group for the last 4 years during the winter time. All the condos were very nice & clean, fully stocked, with all the necessities. Staff was very polite, professional and easy to deal with. Last year I lost one of the keys to the condo so we went back to the office and explained to them what happened. I was ready to pay a hefty fee. They were very nice about it & made a new key right there on the spot with no charge. I was ready to fork out $20 for a new one & they looked at me like I was out of my mind! They said don't worry about it. I was kinda shocked. When we checked out I gave them a 12 pack of Coke because I felt bad about the whole key thing. Anyways I've been very happy with this place & will probably keep renting from them in the future. Jessica, Dana and the whole Hauserman crew were incredible! I would rent one of their beautiful properties for the attentive management alone. A couple times this season, one airhead or another from my ski lease got locked out in the middle of the night. Someone always answered the emergency line to help them get inside. The property itself was gorgeous and any general maintenance issues were handled properly. As someone who has worked with truly horrendous property managers, Hauserman is a breath of fresh sierra air. 10/5 will lease again. read more

By Far the Best Rental Company Out There!! We have rented from them for several years now and have had nothing but fantastic service! Whether it's phone calls or via the internet, they always serve with a smile. The selection of homes is far more than many others I've researched ... you can find small cheaper homes or huge fancy lake front homes ... they have it all!! We were wanting to rent over days that didn't show as available on a certain house's site and they called the owner for us to see if it was available and it was! They go out of their way whenever needed. And their selection of dog friendly homes is amazing!!! Who doesn't love to go to Tahoe without the puppy!!! We locked the keys in the rental once and they were more than accomodating at getting us a spare set. They leave the keys for you if you're coming in late and they even have "welcome packets" sometimes with maps, treats, and some tolietries!! We love this company!!!! read more

I rented a unit in Lake Tahoe with some friends last weekend The unit itself was okay, besides the fact the internet was barely working and the bedrooms' windows had no curtains. Although we followed all the check-out guidelines which includes striping out the beds, pile all the laundry together, clean the dishes and empty the trash cans, and on the top of it paid $180 for cleaning, the company decided to charge extra money because according to them there was a chocolate stain on the carpet in the second living room. We explained to them it wasn't us and that we not even used that room. The agent Danielle sent a very rude answer saying that "It's obvious that your story is missing some crucial details" (sic) i.e that we are liars. I found completely unacceptable. It is not a matter of money, but how to deal with costumers. We are not teenagers vandalizing a place, rather working adults wiling to rest have fun together for a couple of days. I was not surprising reading the other bad reviewers about this company at Yelp. I regret I haven't done it before read more

Did not have a Television that worked for the entire three nights we stayed at the Dollar Point House. Some people were not able to ski and this was during the NCAA Basketball Tournament., March 2011. The internet,stereo, and DVD player did not work either. Jesse from the Hauserman Rental Group thought a refund of ten dollars a day would be fair compensation, he was short with me and unprofessional. After numerous phone calls with other staff a more reasonable amount was agreed upon.We will never use this company again. read more

Had no problem with the unit itself. However, we experienced poor customer service from the Hauserman Rental Group. During our stay we used the BBQ grill once. Halfway through cooking our meal the propane tank ran out of gas and we had to finish cooking in the kitchen. We had no intention to use the grill during the remainder of our two night stay so we just turned the grill off and left it at that. A couple of days after we checked out the rental group notified us we'd be charged $40 for an empty propane tank. We explained what happened and the rental agent totally disregarded our explanation. She said that she had to "take the cleaner's word" over ours and would not refund the $40 fee since we did not "complain" about the issue when it occurred. Also, be prepared to do some cleaning before you leave. There's a $140 cleaning fee but you are expected to strip all linens off the bed, wash all dishes and empty all trash bins in the unit during check out. We are not ones to complain about the minor things. It's just the principle of the matter. read more

They listed my ski lease house incorrectly. The house never rented because the price was too high for the incorrect number of persons it slept. They kept blaming the lack of a renter on the house even though the house has been rented ever ski season for the past 20 years. I had to find the mistake. Then they had an arrogant attitude about their mistake. They are living off of past laurels. Hauserman may have been great 50 years ago, but not now. read more

This rental agency helped me find a house on Lake Tahoe that would let me bring my Westie and had a pier. Great people to deal with, even when a sewer pump broke and we had to vacate. Rental agent found us a replacement house immediately. We preferred to leave rather than move twice during our vacation and they supported whatever choice we wanted to make. I used Hauserman Rental Group to rent a place for a week for my family vacation. Properties selection was great, setup was easy, prices were reasonable. You do have to pay a security deposit ($300 in our case), but you'll get it back in two-three days after you checked out. The payment options are by credit card or by personal check. Here is one word of caution. I used their on-line reservation page and noticed that it was not properly secured. The page where they ask for the credit card number does not start with "https". I opted to pay with my personal check. The day after I made my reservation, somebody (not Hauserman Rental Group) called my home phone and said that I need to pay with a credit card otherwise payment by check has to be increased. Yes, the guy wanted to have my credit card number now. I asked for his phone number and promised to call him later. I called Hauserman Rental Group representative and asked them what is going on and they had no idea. They said either payment is fine and equal in amount as long and they receive it a day before checking in. I did not try to contact this guy and he did not bother me again. So, be aware and secure with your credit cards internet transactions. The bottom line: we spent a wonderful week at Tahoe. The Hauserman Rental Group were great and easy to deal with. read more

My boyfriend and I were very satisfied with our stay at property 150, rented out by Hauserman Rental Group. Booking was extremely easy, and the people working there were very friendly, very matter-of-fact, and kept us informed of any changes (such as the pool being closed) up until the day of our arrival. They made check-in and check-out extremely painless, were very organized, and provided good all-around service. The property was clean and the photos representing it on the website were accurate. really surprised to see some of the negative reviews here. We have rented at least 5 different houses through the Hauserman group and we have never been anything but competely satisfied. They represent a wide range of properties from homey to super-high end. We've tried both, and found that the more palatial homes were a little overkill for us since we tended to spend most of our time outdoors or spending time together in the main rooms, so fancy bedroom suites and 'bonus' rooms were a bit of a waste. That said, all of the homes have been comfortably appointed and everything was in good working order. Some have more extensive 'gourmet' cooking equipment but all of the houses had the basics. I've utilized vacation rental services at other destinations and have never found anyone as pleasant to deal with as the staff at Hauserman. They are professional and personable via emai, fax, over the phone and upon arrival. They have always been truly accomodating. For those who think it's an imposition to strip the beds and take out the trash, maybe you should stay in a hotel with maid service. read more
