what an absolute horrible business! They overcharge you & when you call them out on it they call you a liar & yell at you & demand you never shop there again. Sorry, but when we come in WEEKLY and buy the exact same items, yet get charged a different amount every single time & then when we finally ask for a receipt for once to discover you over charged us you want to claim we somehow hid the "extra item". You searched your database to find my personal phone number to call to yelling at us & refusing to even allow us to speak. The second we'd try to say anything you'd hang up like a child. Your manager needs some serious training on proper customer service & how to actually talk AND listen to people. Also, learn to properly label your animals. just like the bamboo I called you out on before, that "banana spider" you have in there does not carry the spider morph. it is just a plain, single gene banana. When we pointed it out to one of your associates last week when we were in, he told us "yeah, we know, but we think it has a "wobble" so we labeled it as spider too. That's not how that works! Stop ripping people off & then yelling at them when your called out on it. Your manager needs to put her narcissism to the side, as someone who has worked retail management for over 10 years myself, I could never imagine telling a loyal customer who shops at my establishment multiple times a month, every month, for over 5 years now to never return rather than just accept that maybe my sales associate made a mistake. You are a grown, beyond middle aged woman, who acted like a toddler. Learn proper customer resolution skills! read more

I always go to them to get Zoeys nails trimmed & she's a very difficult dog to do and they do an amazing job & so good with her.I wouldn't go nowhere else. the store staff are so kind,they even gave zoey a free toy that didn't sell & a treat. that was very thoughtful. read more

've been shopping at Havahart for over 15 years, ever since I moved to Racine. I've always been happy with their products, services and customer service but tonight just reinforced why I come back again and again. I picked up my dog from the vet today after a teeth cleaning. They ended up pulling a tooth so my dog had to have soft food for the next couple of weeks. Trouble is I only had hard kibble at home. I couldn't leave my dog home alone so I could get food and I couldn't leave him in the car either. His sedation was wearing off and he was a crying mess (which meant I was a mess too). I called Havahart and asked them to pull food for me and bring it out to my car so I could stay with my dog. They did it in a manner of minutes and got me and the dog on our way home quickly. It was a kindness that meant so much to me. I really appreciated them going the extra mile. read more

I have a pleasant experience everytime I come here and I will not go anywhere else. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you need. They have a great selection of products. I always find what I'm looking for and there's been a few times when I needed something they didn't exactly have and they went above and beyond to make sure I left with something that will work. I'd give 10 stars but it does t go that high. Highly recommend checking them out and giving a small business your money and not a big box store or puppy mill store like Petland! read more

Went here for the first time with my husband yesterday looking for a bottom feeder for our fish tank. They have a big variety of freshwater fish which is really nice. I have no complaints about the store. The employees were all friendly, however one of them gave us wrong information about some fish we purchased. Originally we went in looking for a bottom feeder but didn't find one we wanted. After browsing through the rest of the selection, we saw fresh water puffer fish. We asked the lady if they were schooling fish and if they'd do well in a tank with other fish, specifically tetras and shrimp and she said yes to both of our questions, so we purchased some. Once we got home we noticed some aggressive behavior with them and did some research only to find out they are not schooling fish and they should be kept in a tank with no other types of fish because they will eat them. Naturally we were a little upset because of the wrong information we had received. Someone who is offering advice and information about fish should make sure they know what they're talking about so they do not misinform customers. Luckily we have 2 days to return them. From now on I will definitely make sure we do our own research before trusting employees and purchasing fish. read more

My rabbit needed his nails trimmed badly! We struggle to do it ourselves and it normally takes us hours to get through all 4 paws. I took him in and they finished in less than 2 mins! The staff are friendly and they have the best brands that you normally can't find. So glad we find someone that can do the nail trimming now! read more

I have two dogs that I had groomed there a few times. Once they didn't cut the little one's nails. This most recent time both of the dogs had been hanging around the campfire the night before and smelled like smoke. When I picked them up from Havahart from their grooming, one smelled like coconuts and had obviously been bathed but the other one still smelled like smoke. It's not cheap to have them groomed there and I expected them to be both bathed. Won't be going back again. read more

I have been taking my Lhasa Apsos to Laura in the grooming salon at this store for over a year and I must say that she has been great. My dogs were always very skiddish of groomers, but Laura has a way of putting them at ease. I would recommend her to anyone that is looking for a pet groomer. I went in to get random supplies for my pets and stumbled upon a rabbit that i absolutely fell in love with. I had been looking to get a companion for my rabbit for a while now, and felt like she would be a good fit, however I couldn't bring her home that night. The nice worker there said he could put her on hold for a few days so that she wouldn't be sold and I could come back for her, so I did that. He wrote up a note that said my name and info and the date the bun was going to be on hold until and he let me read it before posting it to double check and the note was perfect! The next day I came back and the rabbit was sold. I told a different employee what happened and they called the employee that sold the rabbit that morning and they said the date on the note was for a few weeks prior, which was not the case. They didn't seem very apologetic or care that I got screwed over. Instead, they said they'd put me on a wait list for the next litter which they did, but then a month later I went to confirm and they said they had no note of my information. They said the litter would come in March and after giving them my info for a THIRD time, I still haven't received a call that the litter came in. I'll still continue to buy product from them however I'm extremely disappointed in the way they handled this situation. read more

Not a great place to shop, but the only store in the area that I can get American Natural Premium--great dog food! They are not the friendliest people and there is a mother and daughter who barely say "hi" and will talk to each other before they help you with anything. I would go anywhere else if I could. Also, for cat & kitten care, they are lacking. You are better off shopping online. I love to frequent local places too, but I really hate going there. We were in there tonight and I just had to write a review when I got home. No one greeted us when we walked in, everyone seemed too busy doing who knows what. I had to go find someone to help us . When checking out I made friendly conversation regarding their prices on the dog food we buy for our dogs (which is not cheap!). I told the lady we noticed our dog food had gone up in price at a different store but that it was much cheaper at havahart and we would be sure to buy it there from now on. She didn't even make eye contact and did a horrible job at pretending to be interested in engaging in conversation with a customer. Now I will definitely not be going back there...seriously lacking in customer service (at least that goes for whoever was working tonight) read more

I usually don't leave many reviews but I just had to this time. We have two cats that have desperately needed their nails trimmed but my work/school schedule has made it almost impossible to find the time. I happened to have a few minutes in the midst of a thousand other errands on Saturday so we packed up the fur monsters for a quick visit to Havahart. My boyfriend and I were walking in, each carrying a cat carrier, just as a young woman was headed out of the front door, car keys in hand. As she saw us crossing the parking lot, she called out and asked if we were coming in for a nail trim. That's when I realized that she was the second groomer on duty, that was just leaving for the day. And since they only trim nails when two groomers are on duty, my heart sank just a bit at the thought of wrestling those monsters into their cages and getting them all stressed out for no reason, only to have to postpone and try to find another time that would work. To our shock, she turned right around and welcomed us to follow her back inside so that she could take care of us before she headed home for the day. Talk about timing! I can't tell you how much we appreciated her help. We had no idea who she was. She could have totally kept right on walking to her car like she didn't even notice we were there. I still can't believe how sweet she was to just get right back in there and go back to work when she was sooo close to freedom lol. read more

Excellent pet shop! They specialize in tropical/salt water fish, small animals/reptiles, and birds. Locally owned and operated in Racine for as long as I can remember. Their selection cannot compete with the "big box" pet stores, yet their expertise and quality of merchandise is second to none. Keep an eye out for the tortoise roaming the shop! read more
