The people here are miracle workers. I adopted a dog that eventually needed a lot more work and training than I could provide on my own. I took her in to PetU for an assessment and they told me exactly what I needed and layed out all of my options for me. After talking it over, I decided on placing her in their Board and Train program. I was incredibly nervous and felt terrible since she had only ever been away from me for two days before, but the people at PetU really did a lot to reassure me that what I was doing was in her best interest. Being the overprotective mom that I am, I left all kinds of information about her and called during the week to check on her. They were always very understanding and even encouraged me to check in whenever I felt I needed to. They even gave me a full tour and showed me where she would be staying so I had a better understanding of how the program is set up. (And so I knew she would be comfortable and happy where she was.) When I went for my first training visit, I could already tell a difference in her behavior. By the last week of the program, she was the best I had ever seen her! She was less anxious in public, walked great on a leash, listened to commands, and was even playing with the other dogs instead of running away in fear. I almost cried seeing the difference in her from her first to last day. She not only learned a lot during her stay, but really seemed to enjoy being there. On top of that, her trainer Norka really helped me to understand some of her behaviors and how to prevent her from losing her training. In the end, I'd say I had a tougher time during her program than she did! We've got her signed up for daycare from now on so she can keep seeing her new friends (both human and dog). I would definitely recommend stopping in at PetU for anything you and your dog might need! read more

I took my dog here to board while I deployed a few years ago and my dog got attacked by another dog which required her to get emergency stitches. I unfortunately being away from home could not attend to this matter but what's most unfortunate is that the company did not care enough to even apologize for this incident. All they said was, I knew what I was signing up for when I put ink on that contact. Also, the other owners dog NEVER reached out to me to at minimum apologize and we were left to care for ourselves. It's unfortunate that some business only care for the money and not the pets. read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE 2 years ago we boarded our Frenchie here for 2 days over Christmas. When he came home he was really skittish and had multiple accidents in our house, which in 9 years he had never done before. We thought initially that it was the stress of being boarded for the first time, so didn't really think that much about it. This last Christmas we brought him again, just for one night, and once we got there he did not want to be there at all. What dog isn't excited to be somewhere else outside of the home. We couldn't really rest knowing how we left him so we came home early, and he couldn't wait to get home. At home he again was skittish, with accidents, and this time had redness all on his mouth area, like he was either roughed up by another dog or possibly rubbing from stress. We will never bring him there again and hope they maintain better standards for other dogs unfortunate enough to be boarded here. read more

My "temperamental" rescue pup needed a safe place to stay while we were away, and I am always nervous to leave him due to his anxiety. Pet-U has gone above and beyond to give him a familiar, playful environment while adapting to his needs! Bella in particular has been so compassionate and loving towards our dog; every time we drop him off she is genuinely excited to see him and tells me how much she loves spending time with him. In light of the recent events at PetU I feel as though I need to update my previous review. After bringing my dog to the day care a few days she started to be very wary around my father in law specifically when he was wearing a blue jumpsuit to work on cars. She was completely afraid of him... Tail between her legs and everything. My husband also told me that she was very scared when we brought her to the day care. The staff had to drag her into the back. Now I obviously have no idea what happened, they never reported anything to me, but now I have to wonder. She was previously very friendly and happy to see my father in law... I am only wondering... We haven't been back... And since she has been back to her normal self! read more

On Friday evening I entrusted our beloved CoCo to Pet University for a weekend visit while we went to Michigan to my Son's first D1 football Spring game. I should have known something was wrong when he didn't want to go there... He had stayed there only one time before where I thought things were ok... This time my poor doggie was mauled to death by a much larger dog. Pet U first didn't have all the correct information when they called and told us he died of old age, only when we posted to social media and started to question them after the post mortem exam report showed he was murdered did I get a call from the other owner saying they were sorry. If you love your animal and want to keep them alive, and SAFE- DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO BOARD HERE! It's DANGEROUS!!! No cameras out back to record what happens, employees clean instead of watching the animals, they are negligent, they don't care! They need to be closed as far as I'm concerned. RUN AWAY! My dog was in their "board and train" program there and she was mistreated. She came home sick and passed it to my other dog. I have been treating them for an intestinal illness for a month now. I am afraid my older dog will not recover from this(he is lethargic, not eating and is not feeling well at all, perfectly healthy before by the way). All this place cares about is your money. They DO NOT care about your animal. My poor senior dog is battling giardia because my young puppy got it there(due to lack of cleanliness is my assumption). I sent a complaint to Contact 6 and the BBB. They are doing nothing to make this right. I have spent over $800 dollars in vet bills after just spending $2100 dollars to send her to their "board and train" program. The place always smelled of urine and feces when we were there, I should of listened to my gut and pulled her out of there. They say they "love animals" well I don't see it. My puppy has been on a bunch of antibiotics since coming home, poor puppy shouldn't be dealing with that. I will also have to shell out more money for more training with her because she is SUPER aggressive with my older dog now, even hurting him at times. I have to keep them separate all the time. NOT HAPPY. RUN RUN RUN you will regret bringing your dog here, I know I am. I feel so guilty that I left my baby in their care and they are dealing with all these health issues now. I take my dog here for daycare a day or two every week and I have kenneled him there a few times now. The employees here are great and I trust them. Mine is a high energy dog and comes home after a long play day and just wants to cuddle. He did come home with an injury once but I don't blame Pet U. I get that you want your dog to be safe but if you are putting your dog in a room with 25 other dogs you have to know that these things can happen. Our boy Zeus, a German Shepherd, has been associated with PetU since he was just a puppy, and attended his first class. He eventually participated in their Board and Train program too. After that, he has gone twice weekly for daycare. The staff is great, dog lovers and helpful. Zeus feels it is his home away from home and gets excited in the car when we turn onto their street. He's always happy to be there and loves a few of the employees so much. On going, they've been quick to help remedy any behavior problems that come up and have bent over backwards to help Zeus be a happy and obedient young man. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I will say I purchased a German Shepard from Dennis Trzcinski four years ago and she is a great dog and we love her to pieces. When we got her she was four years old and had worms along with kidney issues and her blood work showed other health issues. Spent over a $1500 in vet bills and medication and took months to get her healthy. I did train her with Dennis also for about a year. During this time he would use a shock collar on her turned up so high that she would flinch when he hit the button. I also took her to daycare 1 -2 days a week. I noticed a changed in her that got to the point where she wouldn't get out of the car. One day she saw him and laid on the floor and cowarded towards him. I commented and Dennis ' response was something like she must be in a mood. I knew that wasn't right. The last straw for me was at a training and he took one of his own dogs that wasn't listening or doing what he wanted and held it up off the ground by its collar and shook it and just held it up in the air. The dog looked like it had passed out. That is animal abuse in my book. I would never recommend Pet U for any services ever. I understand accidents happen and to have a dog die is a terrible thing. What's worse is to lie about it. The dog had puncture wound (pictures were posted) and blood over its body. They must think the owners are complete idiots to believe the dog died in a crate due to old age. Liars! read more

I've boarded my dogs here twice now and can say that I'm very pleased with their services and trust them with my pups while I'm away. I choose them originally because they were the only pet boarder that was willing to give one of my dogs special attention since she can't always play well with others and let my other dog play with all the other dogs. I had read about the problems that had happened earlier in 2016 but choose to give them a try anyways since they were close to home and willing to make a special exception for my one dog. We took our dog here for 4 nights of boarding. She came home with completely red, raw paws. When I called to ask about this the response was ridiculous, "oh she has raw paw. It's nothing to worry about because it goes away. We have a gravel play yard. You can soak her paws or put Neosporin on them. It happens almost every time dogs come here." Seriously? Thanks for brushing this off as nothing. My dog was completely lethargic the whole night and next morning after we arrived home. $140 vet visit later she's on pain meds that have totally knocked her out and has 2 weeks of antibiotics to take. She's not herself. Do people seriously bring their dogs back here? We won't be. And will be telling everyone we know to stay away. read more

A few months back I had a terrible experience with Pet U, but decided to give it one more try. After another horrific experience yesterday, it is safe to say our dog will never be at Pet U again, and I will make sure to spread this news to all of our friends. When we dropped our dog off the other day, I decided to ask to take a walk around the facilities. I was extremely concerned about the conditions of the place, and the number of dogs being held there at once. The barking was loud and terrifying, and I felt that I was in a pound. There is also a horrible stench in the building. I have left our dog in other boarding facilities that did not have this bad odor, so I know that it is possible to keep the facilities smelling clean and fresh. Had my flight not been leaving an hour or two later I would have not left my dog there. I worried about him all weekend. This used to be a nice place, now it has just gotten way too big. There are too many dogs for the staff to handle, and I worry for the dog's safety. We take advantage of the overnight boarding when we are out of town. A few months back I prepaid $25 for my dog to be bathed the day before we got back. We arrived to pick him up, and noticed he smelled and had not been bathed. Sally the woman at the desk was incredibly rude and offered NO apologies whatsoever. We finally got her to deduct the bath from our bill, but she offered no other compensation. You would have thought Pet U would have put this in our file, to ensure that we received great service if we ever decided to come back. Believe it or not the SAME thing happened to us again yesterday. We prepaid $25 for our dog to have a bath the day we came back from vacation. Not only was he not bathed, but he smelled and had dog slobber all over him. Ironically enough Sally was the woman at the front desk. Once again she offered no apology or compensation. She did not feel bad at all that our services were not met for the second time. Her customer service skills are horribly off-putting. She told us that they forgot to schedule the bath. I am sorry, but I know 10 year olds who would be capable of scheduling a bath in a computer. This was absolutely pathetic. Pet U has a lot of work to do, starting with improving the customer service skills of their staff. Like I mentioned earlier, my dog will not be returning to Pet U, and I will make sure that my entire network of friends is made aware of our experiences there. read more

We brought our dog here because one of friends recommended it and we will never go back especially after the recent news. Our dog stayed over Easter weekend, we were supposed to pick him up on Easter because we flew back into town that day but were told we couldn't because they were closed - ummm doesn't someone have to come feed and let the dogs out?! Our flight arrived around 5pm (dinner time). They didn't tell us this until drop off and we were charged an extra day. Our dog came home with bloody, raw paws and he didn't seem himself for a few days. Back to normal now but this place is not good. They obviously aren't watching the animals while they are playing plus they overcharge and are rude. I am so sorry for the family that lost their dog, it is so heartbreaking and awful. Tried to shake me down for 3 kongs of peanut butter during boarding, 9$. My dog has never been boarded. They called me, not my wife, said my dog, a Pomeranian ate 3 kongs of peanut butter on a day, week, year I have never boarded him. I've never boarded him, ever. Gave me the date Nov 16 over the phone, kind of hard to verify. My wife gave her info when she applied for a job. Stopped in to settle it. They could not provide paperwork for why they called me. I'm not sure there are the proper words to convey the gratitude and thanks I have for Pet University. My boyfriend and I have a year and a half year old Shiba Inu with some massive aggression issues. We were at the point where we didn't know what to do - we went through several training classes and even had one on one private training sessions with other area trainers - needless to say, nothing was making our puppy any less aggressive. It was so much of a problem, that Pet U was our last attempt at working with our dog to eliminate the aggression. Gus (our Shiba) has been there for three weeks now (the "typical" length of time for their board and train program) and he's a completely happy and different dog!! And because Dennis and their team wasn't satisfied with Gus's obedience level, they kept him another week to work with him! Talk about a commitment to dogs and their owners. On our first visit, Gus was still his naughty self, but he was learning that corrections are okay and to trust people other than my boyfriend or myself. The second visit, I almost didn't recognize my dog; he was the happy little guy I hadn't seen in a while! He was playing with another dog and it seemed like there was a weight lifted, he didn't have to be "on guard" all the time. And more than just working with my dog on obedience and aggression, Angela called me to get a better understanding of how Gus was at home, why I chose the food he had, and the reasons behind the medicine he was on. They wanted to know the reasons behind all the different factors influencing Gus. And together (in consultation with Gus' vet) we brought back the happy puppy Gus once was! I wish we had found them sooner, but I'm so glad we found them when we did! read more

My dog has been going here for daycare for over two years without and concerns. He goes once to twice a week and has boarded there. He has been well cared for and it allows him to interact with other dogs. There have been staff changes but I would NEVER think any of them would do anything to intentionally hurt an animal in their care. read more

My two dogs just came home from a two week stay at the Racine campus. They gave one of them a bath and offered to bathe the other dog, but I didn't want to wait. Both dogs looked healthy and happy and judging from the photos and videos,that were posted, they had a great and fun vacation also! I definitely recommend this place. read more

This place is awful. They train aggressive dogs right next to the daycare dogs, and it really stresses the dogs out. Also they have a gravel play area that will aggravate your dog's paws and give them raw paw. The place smells too. They try to do too many things there and offer too many services and don't do any of them well. They also let a dog get killed, and then lied and said it died of old age. My wife and I took our 2 5 1/2 month old shepherds to Pet U because it was close to home. Our dogs came home "DOG" tired. They played all day. We take them there daily and have a monthly package. We are so pleased that we signed them both up for 6 months of Service Dog training. Yes that is expensive, but we are confident that when training is over, we will have great dogs. I couldn't be happier with the results of this place. I just rescued a pit bull with aggression, anxiety and a lot of social problems that I didn't know how to fix and with the board and train program, my pup came out a new dog! He is happier than he's ever been and can play with my other two big dogs alone with wagging tails. Its amazing what this place did. The staff is friendly and wanted to make sure I was comfortable with spending time away from my dog. They do keep a lot of dogs, but all dogs are evaluated beforehand which makes the safety concern diminish. I trust this place with all of my dogs now and Ill continue to board my dogs here and use the day care when needed. The trainers are awesome and facility is perfect for any dog. My dogs, right now, are snuggled up next to me exhausted after playing all day at daycare. They have small bladders and can't be crated all day and with my long commute and my teenager's busy schedule we needed to have someone watch them during the day. They clearly love the place and get excited the min I turn the car into the parking lot. The staff is friendly and seems to handle the animals well, especially my little one who is an obnoxious barker but they seem to understand that. They give "report cards" every few days and I think that's a nice touch. I had to take them to another daycare closer to my work once and boy that place looked dirty and dumpy compared to Pet U. They are a little pricey but for me it's so worth it to come home to happy content dogs. I highly recommend it to anyone who works and has high energy dogs. read more

My GSD was really struggling with anxiety and aggression towards other dogs. She was unmanageable and I was at a loss. Pet U helped turn my situation around. I boarded my dog for three weeks with their board and train program. While there, they helped teach my dog the skills she needs to socialize and become a well mannered dog. They individualized her training and worked one on one with her. The trainer was available at all times to help answer my questions and give me a complete update on how she was doing. I went to Pet U during her training and also got to work one on one with my dog and the head trainer to see for myself the progress she was making. They helped answer all questions I had, big or small, and helped make a plan for me to stick to when I took her home. The entire staff at Pet U is amazing and very approachable. The experience my dog and I had with Pet U was exceptional. I look forward to continue the work and taking my dog there for classes and doggy day care. I would highly recommend Pet U to any responsible pet owner! read more

My wife and I have taken our two dogs to training and regular day care at Pet U since it opened. The staff is particularly attentive and they treat our dogs as part of their own family. Our dogs always have fun and they go to "school" with great joy. Dennis is a superb reward-based trainer who is patient with both dogs and indulgent owners. Update 2: After being called a liar by Norka who is supposedly an employee of Pet-U due to expressing my experience with Pet-U on facebook, I felt an update was necessary. In the end we did not utilize Pet-U for the training of our dog and we decided to no longer board him at Pet-U. Our decision behind this was due to the attitude of the general staff we had encountered and the information that hit the local news regarding a dog that was attacked and died while in the care of Pet-U. While we have full confidence in Dennis, the reality is there was no way that he could be there 24/7 to supervise the staff. Now having been attacked by Norka and her numerous libelous statements, I feel that our decision not to utilize Pet-U has only further been supported as the best choice we could have made for our pet. I would advise anyone considering Pet-U to do so with extreme caution. Update 1: Received a call from Dennis (the owner) who was very sincere and apologetic for what we had experienced so far. It was very evident that he really cared about making things right and would do what he could to correct the situation. It is understandable that oversights can happen and I truly appreciate Dennis's desire to correct the disappointments we had experienced. We were able to schedule a training evaluation with him directly and are looking forward to seeing what they can do for our dog. Original Post: Very unhappy with Pet-U at the moment. I called the Milwaukee location on 11/27 and set up an appointment to have our dog evaluated for a board and train session on 12/18. The male employee I spoke with took my credit card number over the phone as you have to pay in advance and told me everything was all set and that they would have a receipt for me on the day of the appointment. Went there today for the appointment and was told by a female employee that they had nothing scheduled for us and no record of an appointment ever being made. This is after I called last week to confirm the appointment and was told by a male employee that everything was set and good to go. The female employee today offered no apology, no explanation, nothing, and I was spoken to like my being there I was an inconvenience to her. I requested that the employee have the owner call me personally within the next 48 hours as I am very unhappy with our experience and how we were treated. Should he do so and offer an acceptable apology and solution for what has happened I will be more than happy to write an updated review. Until then I am now left to call my bank and cancel the card I originally gave them as I have concerns about their employee taking my card number and not processing it for the training appointment as they stated they would. read more

This place was recommended by my father, who has a bull mastiff (Gabby), where Pet University trained her. Before she was very hyper and jumped up a lot, which wasn't good considering how big she was. All of their small grandchildren, including my son, were scared of Gabby because she jump on top of them as if he was another dog (biting on their head, clothes, etc). She was doing it in a playful way, but she would never listen or stop when told. Well...after she went to Pet U she was a completely different, more happy and well behaved dog. She seemed more confident and relaxed and listened! This being said, my husband and I got a new puppy, American Bulldog/Pitbull mix, Sophie! Such a sweet dog and very lovable. However, she was so crazy and hyper, never listened, ate our furniture, clothes, and my sons toys (I mean really ate them where we found the items in her feces, sorry TMI). We tried to take her to these group classes at Central Bark, where WE had to do all the training using this "clicker". Both of us working full time and a kid in sports, we did not have the time to spend on training her. And that "clicker" didn't make any sense. We wanted her to be happy and healthy and more importantly stress free. That training wasn't doing the trick. We felt so bad that we couldn't train her ourselves. This is where my dad recommended us on taking her to Pet University! They do all the hard work - they are the professionals and now what to do. It was SOOO worth the investment! We had her stay there for 3 weeks boarding camp. That was hard at first because I would never see her and I was scared she would forget about me. But that was silly, cuz she has completely changed for the good and she never forgot about me! They REALLY know what they are doing over there. Every time I would visit her I could see a difference. They made my dog a more confident and well mannered dog. They showed me what I needed to do to keep it up. It was easy and made sense. Taking her for walks now isn't a battle of her pulling and running away. She doesn't chew on our furniture or clothes! She listens soooo well, I just enjoy being around even more!! After boarding school for her, we signed her up for daycare once a week - and they actually come and pick her up and drop her off!! That is awesome since we both work and it would be out of our way to make the trip. She comes home from daycare such a happy dog...she is so tired from playing all day and keeping up with her training. She just wants to snuggle. SO YES, a great place for your dog...my dad's dog LOVES it and so does my Sophie!! It's a clean and organized facility. Every dog that you see come in and out seem so happy. They have great customer service and pricing is reasonable! Well worth your investment. Very glad we took our Sophie there and I know she is too! Word to the wise, avoid PETU at all cost. There is a great disconnection of communication between staff. Dont know who is telling which truths. Also Angela, one of the owners, is very rude and disrespectful. We only considered PETU because it was the only place that took dogs that weren't "fixed" and barely used their services because we weren't oblivious to their most recent incident. #ripCoCo! When I informed the receptionist at PETU that we were very unhappy with how Angela handled our concern and would no longer be using their services, the receptionist was very understanding and emphathetic and advised she would forward the call back to Angela. When I spoke to Angela who reimbursed us for one session, she had the AUDACITY to state that she would be ending services with our puppy. What a joke! Grow up Angela and learn to run a business. Take a customer service class. Something you can't learn from your fur friends. Bye bye PetU for good. Take your hard earned money elsewhere before your furry friend gets hurt or worse! read more

I have been going to Pet University for the past few year's and trusted them to care for my dog. My dog was always happy to go there. However, my last experience was horrible. I dropped my dog off for a one night stay while I was out of town for the night. I received a call from the owner that evening informing me that my dog has somehow escaped and ran away. Since my dog is no escape artist this seemed like an unlikely story she just happened to get out so easily. They mentioned that they had gone out looking for her with no luck or sighting from the Pet University employees. Since I was out of town I was unable to rush back to help look for her myself, the entire night I felt helpless and panicked when I realized I may never see my dog again. The next morning I received another call saying MADACC had found her and held her for the night. They were not able to contact me since the microchip system was down. The Pet University employee said that one paw was hurt and was treated and that she would need a bath, but otherwise was in good spirits and seemed fine. When I was able to return and pick up my dog, I was heartbroken to find my dog crying/whimpering. She could hardly walk and was covered in burrs. She couldn't get in the car by herself or up the stairs when we got home. The owner was not there or available to give me an honest explanation, let alone apologize and compensate me for loosing my dog. The story had changed from just my dog to several dogs getting out from the employee that was there. I still had to pay for a night (my dog wasn't even there for the night)! I have the added expenses of at least one vet visit to see what is wrong with my dog and a trip to the groomers and time out of my day for something that could have been easily avoidable. My dog is a member of my family and to have her treated this way is not only unacceptable, it could have a lasting effect on her well being. I would never recommend this company to anyone who cares about the well being of their dog. read more

I normally don't do this but in light of everything I feel I must. I adopted a GSD from a rescue and she had a lot of issues, I took her to a different trainer and after 5 weeks the trainer told me my girl was a law suit waiting to happen. She did not let anyone in my house and she would not let anyone touch her. I did not know what else to do, I had her for about one year, then Pet U opened in Racine and I took her there. She was in a 3 week board and train, she was fear aggressive, and after the 3 weeks of training my girl did a complete turn around. This was after working with 2 different trainers previously. She has now been going there for almost 1 year. I have never had a bad experience there. Yes they do work with dogs that have issues, that is what they do and thank God they do. I thought before Pet U, if I could not get help I don't know what I would do. Now people can come in my house, she is willing to meet strangers and I can walk her. She goes to daycare and she loves daycare. She gets along with big dogs and small dogs. I know they will not put her in with a dog she may have problems with, but she never had a problem. If I have any concerns they are great with her and me. I have never had anyone be rude or unprofessional. They are willing to adjust her schedule if I have a problem. Yes she is still a work in progress but she has come around so much that now she is happy and I am happy. Every one there really likes my girl. To sum it up without Pet U I don't know where we would be now. read more
