It's been a minute since we were here, so we decided on the cafe tonight. I requested the grilled chicken Cesar salad, and Dawn opted for the turkey-bacon club. Our waitress was quick to take our order and kept our drink glasses full. Lighting is adequate and there is deceptively a lot of room, and tables. The wait was just a little long, but we were behind two large groups of patrons and a big order. The head cook, even came out to apologize for our delay in service. The meal was presented nicely, it was well prepared and was what we expect from the cottage cafe. The prices are comparable to the area, and local economy. We will be back!

I…read morehope the cafe takes this feedback to heart because this area really needs a great restaurant and coffee shop, and this spot has so much potential. The location is beautiful--right on the water--with a cozy, inviting interior that makes you want to stay a while. I've been here before, and my first visit left a better impression. The coffee was great that time, and I was excited to return. Unfortunately, my second visit didn't live up to the first. We ordered three coffees: the Snickerdoodle, Honey Bee, and Bean Redeem. All of them were overwhelmingly milk-forward with very little actual coffee flavor. The Snickerdoodle, which was supposed to have cinnamon notes, tasted mostly like vanilla and caramel. The Honey Bee didn't taste quite right, and the Bean Redeem lacked the white chocolate and toffee flavors advertised--it just came across as more vanilla. As for the food, we tried a variety: the biscuits and gravy, Sunrise Supreme, the Classic, and the Reg. Sadly, nothing stood out. The Reg and Classic were okay but lacked seasoning or anything memorable. The biscuits and gravy reminded us of the older McDonald's version--definitely not homemade. The Sunrise Supreme came on mini biscuits that were dry, and the sandwiches overall were just average. A recurring issue we noticed was that a lot of the items seemed prepackaged. The baked goods in the case looked like they came from Sam's Club. If the coffee had been excellent, we could have overlooked that--but with both the drinks and food falling flat, it's hard to justify a return visit right now. That said, I really want to see this place thrive. There's a great opportunity here to make it special: seasonal menus, house-made syrups, stronger flavor profiles in the coffee, and maybe even partnerships with local roasters and bakers. Showcasing fresh, local ingredients and dialing in the coffee recipes could turn this into a true gem. I'll be keeping an eye on this spot and genuinely hope to update this review in the future with a better experience.

Smoothies, açaí bowls, premade meals, the whole package. I walked in with expectations, which was my first mistake. The ordering area is extremely small. There's barely enough space to stand, let alone browse or get oriented. Instead of overhead menus, you're expected to quickly flip through laminated menus kept in bins, mark your order on a sheet with a marker, and hand it to the cashier. There are no visible menus for the premade meals at all. The setup feels rushed and unintuitive, especially for first-time customers. There is virtually no seating. The few available seats were occupied by employees during our visit, which made the space feel even less welcoming. Another customer walked in while we were there and appeared just as confused about how to order, and unfortunately didn't receive much guidance. Functionality-wise, I'd rate the experience a 2/10. The space is overwhelming, poorly laid out, and not customer-friendly unless you already know the system. The food itself was good. The açaí bowl was a 7/10, but because ordering felt stressful, I didn't customize it and ordered it as-is, which I now regret. This café seems best suited for people who already frequent the gym next door and are familiar with the process. For anyone new, busy, or just stopping in casually, it's not an easy or comfortable experience. I truly wanted to love this place, and there's potential here, but the layout, lack of clear menus, and overall flow work against it.

The coffee is great and they have non dairy friendly options. The smoothie bowls are delicious and you can get really any combination you're looking for. Being attached to a fitness facility, they also have supplements, shirts, healthy meal prep, smoothies, etc. The staff/owners are wonderful. Not a great place to sit and work just as a heads up. There aren't really any outlets and only a few tables, but that's fine! Don't think thats the crowd they're catering to anyway. I will definitely stop by when I'm here visiting family or for work.

The restaurant is under new management and owners, but they do have some cow decor in honor of them. The new owners do accept credit card/debit card payments for food. PJ's is an absolutely adorable place situated in the Hitchcock's plaza. The minute you step in, this place is warm and inviting. The wait staff is friendly and so is the cook. If you're lucky, you'll get to hear them talking back and forth--it really makes the place feel like a home. Service was quick and very mindful of our water/coffee cups being filed. On this day, I had the veggie quesadilla, some beef quesadilla, sauté veggies, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Let me tell you--this food is amazing. I don't think I've ever had a restaurant give me so much flavor in my side of veggies. And the gravy on those potatoes was perfect. Some of the other items that my coworkers recommend are the meatloaf (a special), the liver and onions, the Shepard's pie (also a special), and the greens. It's really nice to have a restaurant in Hawthorne with so many options and good taste. This is a place worth putting on your regular breakfast or lunch dine out rotation. I'm looking forward to trying some of these specials myself!
