I came across this donation charity as we happened to be in the area. This charity supports and helps the homeless in San Antonio. There are specifics of what they accept, so please be sure to check the website. We dropped off a few bags of gently used clothing and bedding/blankets. The people who work there were very friendly and appreciative of our donations. We were given a gentle reminder that they do not usually accept bedding/pillows, but, our stuff was in great condition, thus it was happily accepted. Came to volunteer with a group- Haven for Hope services those folks who are homeless. Help means they provide services from food, medical, mental health, dental and even hair services. So impressed with the massive campus and the fluid control they have as well as everything the program offers to those who do/do not want to get back on their feet. One gentleman who helped bring in the donations had just completed the program there and I could see the pride he felt in himself. I have volunteered in the kitchen in the past and have always found that the other volunteers and staff were always very kind. What an excellent community resource organization, there's not enough like them. Haven for Hope serves about 1,700 people DAILY. They provide job search assistance, substance abuse rehabilitation, temporary housing on their 22-acre campus, healthcare/childcare, legal services, education, and an overall safe place for the less fortunate (or those who are just down on their luck) to rest their heads safely at night. They are completely nondiscriminatory and they welcome anyone and everyone with open arms. I've been hiring patrons of Haven for Hope since 2011 and let me tell you, there are some talented people who utilize HfH services, who are just experiencing a rough patch in this tumultuous thing we call life. They say here they are here to help well there not. These people here think there better than you and will be little you and make you think you are stupid when you are not. . When you get your housing and that organization may say there only going to be able to help for 3 months you can have things on your back ground that could prevent you from getting housing through Saha they will tell you qualify and don't worry well, i will say they don't know what there talking about. ( the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing). Then the apartment places they work for i must say they know what there doing because they kept asking my wife to Re Submit documents that have been submitted to them twice already. read more

Humbly, and very Thankfully; i live as a client here, so i know the truth of this place from the inside-out. First off, this is a safe-environment, with staff, officers and security, walking around here regularly, also due to the vast amount of watching cameras everywhere here. There are SO MANY effective resources available here to help a severely broken life such as my own, to regain personal stability so that i may someday again become an honest asset to society. From the day i was born, i've had a very, very difficult life; but this place is actually, a Good place. Haven for Hope does an awesome job, treating people with respect and dignity, and accommodating a large number of people who need a helping hand. Place to stay, personal hygiene, counseling and treatment, even help in finding a job. I contrast how Haven for Hope is handling the needs of both the city and the people needing help; with how poorly some other cities have performed in this regard; and Haven for Hope is a great model for these other cities to copy and use. read more

in regards to the San Antonio Christian Dental Clinic housed here: by their own admission, " San Antonio Christian Dental Clinic wants to help you enjoy a healthy life by providing dental care to those who qualify." They offer free dental to those that are unemployed and cannot afford dental services; however, this is not the case. I do qualify and tried to set up an appointment due to the fact that I have a tooth that needs to be extracted that is almost gone and I do qualify. But they said they are taking no more new patients and they won't be even considering taking new patients until May of this year. So no one in San Antonio can be helped anymore. They do take emergency cases. But they only take 2 a day on Tues and Thurs and its first come first serve meaning that you have to get in line the day before to assure yourself medical aide in your time of emergency. What happened to the Hippocratic oath? So those 4 lucky lottery winners a week get to seek aide while the pain i am in is causing me loss of eating and loss of sleep and loss of mind. This is not how Christian based organizations should run especially based upon the Golden Rule. Donors should be aware of this malfeasance of funds and plan accordingly read more

Haven for Hope is just that. A community of people who have nothing. They get a place to stay and 3 meals a day. There are given Hope for a better tomorrow. First Christian Church was the first church to have a service there; and 1.5 years later First Christian Church is till there providing prayer for those who ask for it and giving them hope in God foe a better life and to eventually move on with their life and make a transition to live life to its fullest. read more

I love Haven for Hope. My daughter was born with glaucoma and is now blind in one of her eyes. Haven for Hope helped her with a eye specialist and put her into glasses.
