This is probably the best hot chicken in all of New England! I just got back from Nashville 2 weeks ago & if they served their food in Nashvegas, no one would question the authenticity. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich and it was pretty darn good. The cashier questioned my heat choice since I never been but I ordered hot at Hattie b's in Nash so I knew I'd be fine. It wasn't as hot as Hattie B's but did have a great kick to it. I may step up to the big leagues and order the Haven heat next time and prove the cashier wrong once again. For my side I ordered the Mac & Cheese--it was unique but good! It almost had a cacio e Pepe type sauce to it which is right up my alley. All in all, I'm pretty stoked I don't have to get on a plane to get great hot chicken. This will definitely be my go to spot when I get a hankering for some hot chicken! read more

Finally had a chance to try their chicken sandwich. Honestly, there wasn't anything unique about the sandwich, it was big and looked good but the flavor was good but not great! I got the combo, sandwich, fries and a can soda, $19.00! Expensive! I've tried most of the chicken sandwiches from the other franchises, for me Popeye chicken sandwich is better! 1st time trying haven small with limited seating. The staff was friendly but at the same time did not really listen. I ordered the haven heat level and the person told me 6 times we recommend you start at a lower heat level 6 times. Like when I tell you I want the hottest and you sit there and tell me 6 times you probably should not. Then when the sandwich was mostly gone they say oh we have 2 off menu heats that are hotter ‍. I've been here a few times. First few were not too bad bud pricey. Staff is always in a weird mood and seems like they don't want to be there. Dining area is small, and not anything crazy. The chicken sandwiches are beefy and usually flavorful. The Mac and cheese is alright. Ordering a soda or drink means you get a can of said soda or drink. HOWEVER. The last time I came here I went with my girlfriend. We ordered 2 sandwiches with NO SPICE, (spice doesn't bother me much but my girlfriend cannot have capsaicin for medical reasons) an order of fries and an order of Mac and cheese. The sides were fine but after we drove off and got to our destination and started eating, my girlfriends sandwich was beyond spicy it was hellfire in her mouth. I took a bite of hers to make sure it wasn't just her and holy moly it was bad. I offered her some of my sandwich to which she refused. Now, for the crazy part of my last time ordering from Haven Hot Chicken. I bit into my sandwich expecting the usual taste of a chicken sandwich. Wow was I wrong. I kid you not, my sandwich tasted exactly like dish soap. DISH. SOAP. It was soapy and vile. I had my partner take a bite to confirm and she confirmed the taste. If we were not already at our destination I would have gone back and asked what their deal is and where the mess up was. Do NOT recommend going here. read more

We were really looking forward to the Nashville Haven Hot Chicken. That didn't disappoint. It was tender and juicy inside and well fried outside. I ordered the "medium" as I like hot and spicy. The very nice young women who helped suggested perhaps I go down a level but I thought she might be judging that on the fact that I am not a youngster. But she wasn't. It was too hot. And, not to be opinionated, probably too hot for most folks, even younger spicy food enthusiasts! That said, it wasn't too hot to eat, just too hot with each bite, chew and swallow. The very very good coleslaw on top helped to mitigate the burn a lot. And taking a drink before taking the next bite! Lesson learned. If I go back I won't order it that hot again. Although other reviews claimed there was too much cole slaw we thought it was way too little (perhaps they over adjusted after reviewers complained). Might be good to put the cole slaw and pickles (which I said no to on the bun but expected it to be in the packaging, Imaynot like it on top of the chicken but I like pickles and I paid for it!) on the side and let diner be allowed to adjust it. When I finished eating it I wished they had an option for just a hot breast, a side of slaw, no bun (the bun is good but unnecessary unless you must call it a sandwich) and some dipping sauce (I got no "sauce", just ketchup). I know they do "tendies" but that's not the same density as a full breast. Were we eating there I would have taken it apart. The facility is really not an "eat in" restaurant. It has a long front window with a ledge and chairs. Unless you were on your lunch or dinner hour you wouldn't want to eat there. And if you're picking up they could have put the sandwich in a container to help keep it warm. It was simply wrapped in paper and put in carrying bag. Cold when I got home. I ordered the fries. They were very, very dry and covered with too much seasoning. So much they didn't taste like potatoes. The helpful person who took the order mentioned some kind of seasoning but never said it was an option...and it should be. I like fried potatoes to taste like potatoes! They were well cut and crispy but way too dry. I wonder if they make them to order or cook a bunch and keep them warm in an oven. Other than the heavy spice they had no taste. I ate four and threw them out. All and all not sure I'd return even tho I do think the chicken breast was very good, it was incredibly expensive for one piece of chicken. For a place that is decidedly a "take out" fried chicken place I paid $14 for the sandwich and $5.50 for the fries (one size only, a large portion, more than one person needs) and the fries were inedible. If they offered individual pieces of the chicken, or a mixed box of chicken pieces, and side orders at reasonable prices I'd definitely return. I came 9 miles for the chicken but they'd need to add options for me to return. Additionally, for those of us who look for nutrition information, or any healthy side dish, there's nothing offered with fiber in it (like beans and rice), nor is there any information re cooking ingredients. It's hard to be "careful" if you have any sensitivities to the mixtures ingredients (MSG, Yeast Extract etc?). My husband did not order because he had no way of knowing what everything was made with. He's more than happy to eat spicy food (lived in new Orleans for years) but not without any info. He went to Mission to get his dinner. They've opened a place that has an appealing calling card if you like well fried and well seasoned "hot" chicken, but It's still a work in progress. Cleanliness issues. While waiting for my food to be prepared I had a good view of the kitchen. Busy workers working to turn out sandwiches. In the midst was a distinctive looking worker with red dreadlocks and a nose ring hanging around and distracting everyone. In one hand she held both a mop and broom by their handles and was swinging them all around while talking but not cleaning anything. In the other hand was a piece of fried chicken that she was feeding herself. Mop handle in one hand, snack in the other, eating and talking over the food prep area. I could clearly see a roller-cart full of cooked chicken in the middle of the floor over which the mop was swung and her snacks were consumed. I don't get it, who takes a break with a mop in one hand? Was she on the clock and goofing off? Do they not have a break room? In any case it was gross and a manager should absolutely have stopped this unsanitary and distracting behavior. Restaurants complain about how difficult it is to turn a profit in today's economy (which it is) but at the same time they alienate paying customers like me because they refuse to properly manage these weak-link workers - all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the bunch. I didn't raise a fuss and took the food I had already paid for and tasted it in spite of broom lady's activities. Fried chicken consistency/texture was very good but I thought the medium spice chicken was too spicy-the kind of spice that is so hot you can't really taste what it's coating or anything else on the plate-all I tasted was spice. I can't imagine the two stronger levels being enjoyable. The banana pudding had an odd metallic, licorice aftertaste. The experience, food quality, and quantity did not provide sufficient value so I will not return or recommend. read more

The only reason it's 2 stars and not 1 is because the quality of the chicken itself was decent. $13 for just the sandwich alone is completely outrageous. I understand an up charge for quality ingredients but come on. At least include the fries and drink with a price that steep. A $4 up charge to make it a combo with a pathetic canned drink is laughable. No fountain, no refills either. I'd rather drive 20 minutes to Chick fila for comparable quality at a third of the price. Besides the fact that the chicken itself was decent, it was utterly thwarted by a soggy, non toasted bun and enough coleslaw to kill a small animal.
