I walked in close to 12:30pm on this "Fat Tuesday" February 17th and was quickly greeted with a smile and genuine hello. I ordered the 1 Waffle and 3 Chicken Tenders with a bottle of water and a Starry Soda. The cost was just about $15.00. When I received my order and went to sit down at one of the tables, I noticed how many customers were coming in for takeout instead of sitting down. Which is all good because within the hour or so I was there, 20 customers had came and went, smiling with enthusiasm about the delicious food they were about to enjoy?? I must say that the waffle was hot and fluffy and oozing with flavor from the melted butter and powdered sugar sprinkled on top. This is rivaled my homemade version of Belgians. I am usually pretty happy with fellow yelp reviewers' assessment of a restaurant but I think this place needs more yelp reviews, so here it goes. We got there around 7pm on a chilly Friday night and there was one person in front of us. The guy took his order quickly and got to us sooner than we were ready. Once we made our decision, we gave him our order of 10 pcs of fried chicken (mixed) and 2 pcs of catfish and we wanted to swap the combo of 2 slices of catfish + french fries $6.49 with sweet potato fries. Originally the guy said he'll just charge the difference between the fries which was ~$1.50 but he ended up charging the two items separately causing it to be $0.50 more. Not a big deal but unexpected given it's different from what he said he would do. The catfish was freshly fried so took about 10 min and we were fine with that. The chicken was under the heat lamp and ready whenever. We got the food to go since the place was completely empty. Total of those 3 things were ~$24.50. After we got home, we dug into our food immediately. The catfish was awesome. 2 large pieces, well seasoned, and crispy and still hot. The sweet potato fries got a bit soggy due to the 10 min drive but still ok. The chicken was where we had issues with. The chicken breast pieces seemed to be half of what KFC or Popeyes give. It's small and as a result of being cut in half, the meat is dry. The dark meat pieces were pretty good but slightly salty for me. Yesterday, i tried the falafel on pita for the first time and it was amazing! A classic style falafel on a large piece of pita with lettuce and white sauce drizzled on top, which is one of the best ways to enjoy it. Falafel tasted great and the pita bread actually held all of the ingredients together. The service and staff are always nice and quick. They even gave me some extra white sauce when i asked for it. Pricing is fair but still really affordable. I have the choice of having food at McDonald's or this place since they're right down the street from each other - but this is an easy pick for me.
