They do not go over with you what their plan is and explain to you what the outcome is going to be like other orthodontists I've spoken with and seen since do. They deny issues as they come up and go out of their way to gaslight you. When I tried to bring up an issue that is common in orthodontics--one that I even spoke to other orthodontists about and they understand the issue and how to easily resolve it--I was mind blown when Annmarie was immediately agressive and literally started yelling. My demeanor when I went in was mousy, so it was a very bizarre reaction on her part for just bringing up a physical concern and one of the most unprofessional experiences in my life. They also gave me damning advice when the issue could've easily been reversed after having talked to several other orthodontists, and they rendered my issue non-fixable because of them telling me to just stop wearing my trays until I come in and then did not let me get in for weeks. Go to an orthodontist who is willing to show you their plan, who is willing to work with you and make adjustments if there's something going on with your mouth and your teeth and your body that is causing pain or something you are unhappy with. These people are not willing to help you. But they will act extremely nice until something goes wrong. It was a bizarrely unprofessional atmosphere and the amount of gaslighting was hard to believe. Annmarie was truly a bully; very agressive and utterly mean. They are really good at advertising though; particularly about how nice they are and how much they care about you. I am not writing this review out of spite, I do not want advice going through what I went through and I'm still dealing with, and I want to urge people to make sure when they go to an orthodontist that it is someone who goes over a direct plan and is willing to make adjustments if the patient is not happy with what is going on with their body. It is your life and your body, be careful who you go to.

Hooray to Bright Side Dental for having same day emergency appointments for new patients. Boo to…read morehaving to get a root canal. I will admit, when it comes to going to the dentist I have been slacking and a few months back I started experiencing a horrible toothache. Picture having a brain freeze, but in your jaw. It SUCKED! One Sunday night I work up at 2:30AM (Tooth-Hurty, get it?) writhing in pain. In the morning I called Bright Side as I had seen commercials before for them and I knew the St. Clair Shores location was close by. Luckily for me they were able to fit me in that day. The entire staff, especially Sarah, were super friendly and made the dreaded trip actually pleasurable. Unfortunately for me I had to go back and see them the following day to get a root canal. They offered to do it the first day, but as I was the late guy that day at work, I needed to be back to the office by 5:00 and it would have been pushing it. Plus I am on the phone a lot and with my mouth all numb from the Novocaine it would have been hard to understand a single thing I was saying. I am glad I did wait to go the follow day because the estimated two hour procedure took close to four to complete. It was my very back tooth so it was tricky to get to, plus the doctor doing the root canal had to go back in a few times after doing some X-Rays to get everything. I would have given them a perfect rating, but I held back two stars because after the root canal I had to get a crown placed and that was like pulling teeth (BOOM! Another awesome tooth pun!) to get done. They took a mold, sent it out and two weeks later had me back to cement it in. They go to do it and find that it was not a good fit so they took another mold, shipped it out, and two weeks later they had me back to place it. Guess what? Again it was a bad fit! Strike two! This happened for a third time and it ending up taking two months before they finally got it right. Other than that I would still go here for routine cleanings and emergency procedures, but for anything more complex I might explore other options.

So you get work done thinking your covered and then they charge you crazy money. The doctors and hygienists are great. The front desk and billing desk need to be more caring.

Also very professional, very kind & friendly. I've noticed through the years as well that there is a low-turnover. The staff that treated my daughter, now treats me, several years later! Dr. Bridget, Dr. Valmy, & staff are patient & thorough; your teeth will be perfection! The process is explained in a way that's easy to understand, from the treatment plan to the payment plan. The waiting area has current magazines, wifi, Nickelodeon on the tv, and toys for the little ones. Conveniently located on Metropolitan Parkway, just west of Mound, on the north side.

I had gotten the wire on my braces tightened for the first time and it hurt a lot so I was crying a bit. I walked from the patient chair straight through the waiting room and out of the office. I was already almost out the door when the lady at the front desk goes "Are those tears I see?!" Of course I kept walking out. She didn't ask if I was okay or anything, and you would think she could tell I just wanted to leave, but instead she said "Are those tears I see?" That was a specific personal experience I had but there are also bad things that everyone experiences here. I hated coming here because of how long I had to spend in the waiting room. Luckily, the chairs in the waiting room are comfortable because that is where you'll be spending a lot of time. I usually got here about 10 minutes before my appointment and wasn't called back for at least 25-30 minutes after my appointment time. My best friends' mom who recommended this orthodontist to us also complains about the long wait in the waiting room. They give you a punch card at your first appointment and you can get different prizes depending on how many cards you fill. When I first started here, the big prize for filling 4 punch cards was a $150 gift card which I was very excited for. I decided from the beginning that was what I would save up for. Once I finally saved up 4 full punch cards, they had changed the prizes to smaller amounts on the gift cards. The best gift card I could get at my last appointment was a $25 giftcard for 3 punch cards. I chose a $25 Amazon gift card and got a $5 Starbucks giftcard with my 4th punch card. The original prize was a very generous amount, but the reason I'm upset is because the $150 gift card was what I was saving up for. Once I finally got enough filled punch cards after 4 years, the prize I got was a fifth of what I had saved up for. I wish they had at least let us know before they changed the prize amount because then I could've at least claimed a giftcard for however many punch cards I had filled at the time. This only upset me because that big prize was what I was looking forward to, especially after 4 years here and the amount of time I spent in the waiting room. I often had to get out of school early because they were always fully booked with after school appointments since most patients are teenagers. On the first day of seventh grade I was at a new school for junior high and I had to leave early on the FIRST DAY for an appointment to get my expander. This was a major inconvenience because I didn't know my way around the school yet and I already had to leave before sixth hour on the first day. However, AT LEAST after 4 years my teeth are finally straight. My teeth started out with my 2 front teeth straight but the tooth on each side sticking further forward. I also had an overbite. After 4 years, my teeth are finally straight and the orthodontic pain is done. And I don't just mean the physical pain of an expander and braces. I also mean the stress I felt every time I was in that waiting room. I knew whatever they did was going to hurt so the 30+ minutes in the waiting room just made it worse waiting for what was going to happen. Even worse, I often was still waiting about 15 minutes after getting seated before they started anything. One time they put the thing that sucks air to dry your teeth in my mouth and had me bite down on it for like 15 minutes while they were doing something with other patients which bothered me because I didn't know when they were going to come back. Hopefully you find a better orthodontist after reading this review.
