However, in the last couple years this course has gone down hill. The driving range mats desperately need changing out, a lot of them are worn down to the rubber underneath. The rakes near the sand traps are missing handles and the fiberglass is splintered. I will say the grass was great and the greens were really fast but I was still very disappointed in how all the other facilities are used compared to a couple years ago. The food in the restaurant isn't as good as other golf places near by either. The service is outstanding but the food is small in portion and honestly not seasoned well. The bathrooms are very nice though, the staff is awesome, and the amount of rain they have had to make the fairways and greens nice which is what keeps this place going in my opinion. I want it to be so much better! I live close by and this was my home course but am thinking about changing to another course due to Waikele's lack of care for the driving range, sand rakes, and food.

This time, I visited Oahu Country Club for a party hosted by my lawyer's firm. The event was held in a private banquet room overlooking the lush greens, and it was a wonderful experience with delicious food, drinks, and pleasant live music. As expected, the clubhouse cuisine was refined and impressive. There was even a nigiri sushi station, which made me especially happy as a Japanese guest. The club is conveniently located about a 14-15 minute drive from my home. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that even non-golfers can become members, so I immediately started looking into it (laugh). After all, being able to enjoy great food and wine while taking in such a beautiful view sounded very appealing. Unfortunately, the membership fee comes with about six zeros in USD, and we quickly gave up the idea... That said, it definitely reignited my passion for golf. The course at Oahu Country Club is set within a forest and features significant elevation changes, making it quite challenging for beginners. However, it offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy golf surrounded by nature. However, the experience ended in a way that made me uncomfortable. After we finished our meal, a young female busser with long brown hair approached our table and asked my boyfriend for a ride home. We were clearly dining together as a couple, so the request felt inappropriate and unprofessional for a staff member to make to a guest. Situations where staff ask guests for personal favors or transportation can place diners in an awkward position and blur normal guest-staff boundaries. I did speak with a manager about the situation and was told it would be looked into and that they would follow up with me tomorrow, which I appreciate. I'm sharing this feedback so management is aware and can address it internally.

Our desserts were sinfully delicious. Overall great dining experience. I hope to dine here again.

The grounds are well kept and there is a covered drive-way at the entrance to the club for drop-offs. When you walk in, there is a feeling of coziness. The main reception area is very welcoming with comfortable seating, plants and a beautiful painting of the Waimea Canyon. To the left of the entrance and past the reception desk, there is library room filled with books and seating. Our luncheon was held in the Card room. There were about 40 of us in attendance. This room also gives you the feeling of comfort and welcome. The buffet was situated on tables along the windows. The food was good. There were 2 entrees - roasted chicken, shitake hoisin cream sauce and furikake crusted salmon with wasabi butter sauce. The salmon had nice flavor, not overcooked or dry and even though there was wasabi in the sauce, it wasn't a lot to be spicy. The chicken was boneless and skinless thighs, also not dry to the taste and the sauce complemented the chicken perfectly. Other items on the buffet line were caesar salad, fresh made rolls, tomato-mozzarella salad, huge fruit bowl, steamed vegetables, fried rice, and a separate dessert table. There were 3 - mini chocolate cake, apple tart, and bread pudding. The apple tart was good and the bread pudding with the sauce was ono. I didn't care for the fried rice because there were too many vegetables in it and not a local-style type fried rice. It is a nice venue to have a function and it seems to be a popular place. I noticed when we entered the building there were several functions scheduled on their events board for the rest of the day. I don't know if they were shorthanded but the wait staff did not come around to refill water glasses or iced tea. There was a table set up for coffee or tea so apparently it was self-serve after they give you the first glass. But the whole 2 hours there, no one had come by to fill our water glasses. And they seemed a little slow at removing used plates from the tables. Restrooms were very clean and had nice touches like mouthwash dispenser with paper cups and wash cloth towels to dry your hands vs paper towels. Overall, ambiance is great, food was good, improvement needed on the wait staff.

It was as if someone poured some coleslaw mix straight into the bowl and forgot to add seasoning or mayo. After the great pastrami sandwich I had for lunch previously this was a great disappointment. Server didn't come by for a long while so I struggled through my meal with no butter for the cornbread, no dressing on the coleslaw, and my dry ribs. I had a bite of food in my mouth so when she finally came I didn't have the chance to say my meal wasn't ok before hubby responded that everything was fine. Will stick with the pastrami sandwich in the future. Also hope they get some kind of seltzer in. The vodka ice tea was delicious but I really wanted a seltzer.
