So this might be the last year for the 2026 Sony Open. I was stationed at hole 7 , a par 3 to signal out of view balls to the camera. There was rubbish in the native area. There was a big bin of building material and a pile of dirt. Not very scenic. The course was not manicured well. Not like other PGA courses. The portable restrooms kept running out of toilet paper. The portable restrooms by the food village ran out of water. Eeew. Appalling!!! read more

Wow beautiful country club, and their kitchen staff can whip up some amazing food - probably the best event buffet that I've ever had coz I can't remember any other time where I was impressed by event buffet food... Wonton salad, leafy green salad with red radish, salmon with wasabi mayo, beef, roasted potatoes, vegetarian chow mein, edamame seaweed quinoa salad.... Not to mention the amazing lilikoi cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and bread pudding... I didn't take a photo coz that'd be a little weird to me since it's not an actual restaurant. But they might as well just open a real restaurant coz more people gotta try their food. But yeah back to their interior. It's classy, sophisticated and welcoming. The view with floor to ceiling glass windows is just impeccable. The staff were also friendly. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked with Japanese bidet and warm toilet seats. Attended Sony golf open tournament January 2025. Spacious golf course that can easily accommodate large spectator crowds. And blessedly this tournament was not heavily attended. Could stand right on the ropes up close to the action. I followed the leaders, plenty of breathing room. $40 admission fee per day is a bargain compared to many PGA tournaments. read more

This review is for the Hawaiian food served here during private party events. Have been here a few times now, always for the Hawaiian food during private parties and I have to say, have never been disappointed. The Hawaiian food served is always memorable and with great variety. My favorite on the buffet line definitely the squid luau! Also enjoyed the kalua pig and laulaus. Everything looked extra fresh including the poi, lomi salmon, fresh fruits and salads. Desserts included coconut cake and a most memorable haupia coconut pudding. The entertainment has varied as it just depends who is hired to entertain. It has always been memorable. Tonight musicians and dancers brought in from the outstanding Polynesian Cultural Center. Parking for large events has always been via valet service. There really is no alternative parking options. Unfortunately. Still, a minor in convenience. Would I come back here again? I would clear my calendar to be able to enjoy the excellent service and lovely oceanfront atmosphere! read more

Dinner in Kahala, Honolulu, Hawaii... When Paul C. invited me to an All You Can Eat buffet at the Waialae Country Club, I had to accept. How many times have I had an opportunity to visit this exclusive venue in the past? None... Of course, this is a fancy Country Club on beachfront property (Kahala Beach) in a high-end district of Honolulu. Check out the pristine landscaping, the perfect decorations, the luxurious restroom (with heated toilet seats), and entertaining player piano in the lobby! The food was delicious! I liked the scallops and shrimp entrée the most! The various salads, fresh fruits, and desserts were fabulous! The service was exceptional, professional, and courteous. Our iced teas were filled automatically. I had a crumpled up wrapper from my disposable chopsticks beside me, and it magically disappeared. This was a classy venue with a beautiful view and free parking. All guests should feel comfortable here! Thanks to Paul C. for the invitation to L&L's Company party! Even the co-owner, Eddie Flores, was present! The party favors included gift cards, mini cookies, and chocolates! Having a lovely ladies luncheon at this scenic Country Club! Spectacular views of the blue ocean! So relaxing and serene! What a treat to be invited! The menu is extensive with Starters, Salad, Soup, Sandwiches, and Entrees, Drinks and Desserts! Our host ordered some starters for all of us to sample and share: fresh crispy addicting potato chips and scrumptious Signature Poke Limu Musubi! I ordered the Lobster Roll: Maine Lobster Salad, Lettuce, Lemon on Toasted Brioche Bun which was very delicious! The S'mores desert too rich! Went for a seminar put on by Wendy Pang and they had a Hawaiian food buffet for dinner at Waialae Country Club. They also had live music and performances by Polynesian Cultural Center. Her seminar is always informative and interesting besides entertaining and great food! The food was very good with lots of variety and a dessert table of coconut cake and Haupia pudding. The only thing missing was the chili pepper water, overall everything was great the staff service was excellent. Parking was crazy, they backed up the cars on to the street blocking traffic, because they wanted to do valet parking which they had a person telling everyone to drive up to the front. A lot of people attending got fed up with the long lines they just parked their cars themself which turned out to be a smart idea, because after the seminar their were lines of people line up back to the hall waiting to give the valet attendant their tickets to bring their car. It was such a terrible mess, they should have just let people park their own cars instead of telling everyone you have to drive all the way up to the valet station. It would have freed up the congestion going into the parking lot and the congestion when leaving. read more

This place is immaculate. The clubhouse is on the oceanside next to the Kahala Hotel. The golf course is across the street from the clubhouse. I'm not sure who the chef is at this place, but compliments to him/her. The food was outstanding and so were the desserts. The kalbi braised short ribs were to die for. It was tender and moist with just the right amount of fat. The Waialae bread pudding with creme anglaise sauce was so good that I wanted to take the whole tray home. I would have snuck it out if I didn't think that anyone would notice, lol. The bathrooms here are fancy. It has a whole area to lounge in. They have bidet toilet seats that warms your behind when you sit on it. They host the Sony Open every year. I'm not really into golf, but don't tell them that. I'm just here for the food, haha. Service was fine, and the free bread cracker was ok as well. However, I had the Caprese salad, and it was phenomenally shit. First they forgot the mozzarella, which can be argued as the most important ingredient in a Caprese salad. Secondly, It was mostly leaves and balsamic vinegar with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella as a second thought. Finally, the added chicken breast was a dry as the Sahara and had me chewing for a good minute. Though a private club and difficult to get on it is a great course. The Sony Open has been here for many years. I hope Guly recommend those unable to play this course to get out in person and watch the open. It's absolutely fantastic the grounds personnel have again outdone themselves. Came here for Administrative Professionals Day with our entire office as a thank you from our bosses. A country club located within a few steps from the beach, the picturesque location has a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and the dinning area itself is gorgeous. The food was served buffet style, eat as much as you want! The servers were phenomenally quick with service and made us feel like royalty. The food was AMAZING, my favorite was the Teriyaki Salmon. The Deserts were also extraordinary, the Calamansi tart was something I've never seen before and were amazing, but my favorite was the bread pudding. We were with a small group and had dinner by the pool. The table shared an array of appetizers that were all very good. My husband and I ordered a spinach and strawberry salad as well as the butter fish which were excellent. When ordering, do not order your salad and entree at the same time. Our salad and entree came out together. I would not order the strawberry tiramisu again. It was more like a shortcake. Some of the other desserts looked yummy. read more

I've been fortunate to be invited to this exclusive club and their food is consistently good. The wait staff is super pleasant and friendly, greeting members by name. Well actually I was told that they are required to know each member's name but it's sure nice when they are sincere in their greeting. The facilities are really nice too. They have a new fitness center and they offer a variety of classes. One of my favorite things to do there is to take a soak in their jacuzzi, then have dinner poolside. Since they are located right on Kahala Beach, it's nice to hear the ocean while dining. read more

I came here today for our annual Hawaii Chapter of my alumni association board of director's meeting that was generously hosted by a member here. Arrived here shortly before 11am and still had parking despite a large event and their weekly Sunday brunch. The service here is OUTSTANDING as the waiters were very attentive in getting our drink order and refills. For a change I opted for their plantation iced tea. Your typical place produces an average drink but Waialae CC's plantation tea was very tasty. They were generous with the pineapple juice. It was so good I ended up drinking 4 tall glasses!!! I just LOVE the onion rings here. They are fried to a crispy golden brown and not greasy at all. The club sandwich, with layers of bacon, turkey, avocado and lettuce, was very yummy, too. I am just amazed at the restroom here. It is fully stocked with gels, tonics, hair spray, mouthwash, toothpaste and other men's accessories. I apologize for not taking a picture of it!!! I've come here as a guest to golf, to play tennis, to hangout at the pool, and to dine in their banquet room. On each visit I was supprised with the level of customer service given not only to their members, but also extended to their guests. Their championship golf course is properly manicured throughout the year and is host to the Sony Open. Their tennis courts are well maintained. Their locker rooms for both the club house and the fitness locker rooms are fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to GQ or beautify yourself. Some interesting facts about the golf course that I have been told: -8th hole is patterned after the famous Redan hole on the North Berwick Course in Scotland. -10th Hole has features of the 17th (Road Hole) at St. Andrews in Scotland. -13th hole par three is designed from one on the Biarritz Course in France. -16th hole is similar to the 6th hole of the National Course at Southampton, Long Island. Waialae Country Club is truly and amazing club beyond its exclusive membership. It's a great place to network while having a great time. read more

First time attending to the Sony Open. We won tickets from a previous golf event and definitely debated whether to attend or not due to the crazy weather we were having. Opted to attend on Friday and the set up was great. Parked and rode the shuttle. Staff volunteers were great security I guess is called for because it's a pro event. 18th hole is where the seats were for the tickets. What an amazing experience. Definitely will go again next year. Stayed at Kahala Resort and room on the 3 par hole. Never saw so many ancient golfers! No one made it to the green off the tees! Even when men hitting from ladies tees. Went to pro shop to see if had any golf shirts would want to buy. Told that not allowed in shop or to purchase unless a member. Oddly exclusive considering how bad members are at golf. Superior attitude without any substance is lame. read more

We were invited to eat here on two occasions for lunch and dinner last week. This place is exclusive and membership is hard to obtain. On that note, I was expecting this club to be beautiful but, sadly, it was dated. It doesn't look like anything special. I heard people enjoy the golf course. They have lotion, mouthwash and toothbrush in the restroom. Their service was wonderful. The food was pretty good. My husband enjoyed the oxtail soup and the kalbi. The miso butterfish was also good. The dessert was amazing! The picture only shows half serving because we split it, which I regret. It was light and delicious. read more

I have looked forward to their Sunday brunch for 27 years, when flying out to Honolulu to see the in-laws. Nothing has changed. Great fruit, salmon and pastries to go with the custom omelettes. Wait staff is very attentive. Unknown cost. The club main building has not changed much either. New carpet and flatscreen TVs. We even got married there 25 years ago. I was excited to be invited to a Sunday Brunch at Waialae Country Club a little while ago. The main parking lot was very crowded but there was another small lot just across the street so I was happy not to valet park. We were seated at a long table against the wall in the main dining room where service was adequate. There were the usual Sunday Brunch items like smoked salmon and an omelet bar but my favorite spot was what I call the MIMOSA STATION! There were bottles of sparkling white wine and you can add any juice you want so I made Guava Mimosas! There is a lot of hype because it is The Waialae Country Club but the food was very good, nothing spectacular like crab legs or oysters, just regular breakfast items. See my pictures. read more

Lets start this review by saying that no, i am not a member here (i think its like $50k to become one) but it happens that my 2 mentors are members and there are plenty events here that i go to (except for the golf ones since i don't really know how to). This place definitely needs a re bump and some remodeling but still nice and cant beat that view! The service is always great and food too!! (I go to town when they have events!!) Parking is easy and the location is great and on Tuesday nights they are teaching dancing and i love it since i am a salsa dancer!!! Overall, i am glad i can get the perks without paying the premium price lol. read more

My friends got married here last year in December and it was so beautiful and fabulous. The outdoor setting was one of a kind and the view of the ocean was magnificent. Sure, there were random people walking by and it was a little distracting... but you can't ask for complete solidarity on Oahu. The dressing/locker rooms were huge and clean. It was definitely a good hang out spot before the wedding and for the bridesmaids to congregate and do makeup, etc. They also had blow dryers and lockers for people to use. Nevertheless, the service here was exceptional and I don't know if the food was catered by the country club... but it was BOMB DOT COM. I wish I had room for seconds and thirds, but I got too greedy the first time around. The food was beautiful and looked/was absolutely delicious. Parking is not a problem outside although you can easily get confused and park in the members' areas, but just read the signs. The club itself can be a little tricky to find because it seems like it's deep in the suburbs of Kahala, but drive slow and you can't miss it. read more

Have been here for our class annual holiday lunches and couple of other luncheons for many years and do miss all that since the pandemic. The selection of the buffet was excellent with a large variety to please all taste buds and always well prepared and tasty. The staff was very helpful and we became friends through the years. Hopefully we may resume our gatherings again for holiday 2022. I'm not a golfer, so have not used that facility, only the dining room. n when the pandemic hit, it all stopped unfortunately. Disclosure: I AM NOT A MEMBER! Because if I was a member, I'd be relaxing on my yacht and having my PA do this review. So why am I reviewing a place I'm not a member at? Well, because I've been here for other functions. Namely the Sony Open, various tennis matches, and the occasional invites by members for food. If you're here for food, the food is good. No question about that. And the service is even better. Staff here must be treated very well if not paid well! If you're fortunate to come here when it is daytime, you'll have a great view of the beach and beyond. The Sony Open is awesome, too. The amount of security they have around is great. The golf course is well maintained. I'm a bit jealous of those people who are members here and get to play this course. I wish I had friends that were members and would invite me to play! The tennis courts are somewhat odd. Being close to the beach, the courts are a mix of sand with fake grass. Or something like that. If you're playing tennis, just remember that, because the ball will bounce differently than when playing on a hard court. I recommend doing a warm up session before you actually start playing a match, that way you can anticipate how the ball bounces. They do have personal training services here. Well, what do you expect when you pay such a high amount in monthly dues? I haven't used their workout facilities, but I did meet a trainer there. I know I can trust her PT abilities because she's hella fit!! Parking is easy, just use the valet. If you are paranoid about letting the valet drive your car, you can ask if you can park it yourself. They'll let you. They do use a good valet service, so you don't have to worry about them banging up your car. So while I wait to save up some money for my initiation fee, I'll enjoy any moment that anyone invites me out to Waialae Country Club. It's a trip to the rich side!! read more

NOTE: This is a private club. TIP: Whether local or tourist, the best drive is, if coming from Waikiki, cruise down Kalakaua Ave and enjoy the Waikiki strip. Stay on Kalakaua Ave and head toward that big mountain called Diamond Head. Get onto Diamond Head Road which takes your right alongside Diamond Head and along the Pacific Ocean. Make a few stops on this road to enjoy/snap pictures of the Pacific Ocean and surfers below. Keep going straight and you will be onto Kahala Ave, drive down this avenue of Oahu's Bel Air version. At the end of the road is Waialae Country Club and the Kahala Hotel and Resort. The whole drive makes you understand the saying, "Lucky We Live Hawaii." I grew up on this course. So this is very nostalgic for me. I've played many rounds, crushed many balls off the range. Grinded. The dog days when its 85 degrees, hitting 250 balls, drenched in sweat, ready to faint. Never did. Always striving to get better and Waialae Country Club is where it all began. The Course: Primarily flat, but the fairways are deceptively narrow and tricky. This course usually finishes top 5 on the PGA Tour as toughest off the tee. If you get crooked, good luck in the rough. While not thick or long, it just grabs your club. This course only has 3 ocean views (Holes: 2, 7, 8) with the rest inland and your normal mansions along some holes. The 9th hole if played near sunset will blind you hitting into the green. You literally cannot see the green late in the day and this is part of the challenge for pros when they hit into it (the 9th hole is actually the 18th hole when the Sony Open is here). While only 3 ocean holes, you can feel the aloha everywhere, the tradewinds, palm trees, the easy going style of Hawaii and luxury on this country club. Pro Shop: Medium size, decent selection, friendly pros at the register. Get your Hawaii Golf Souvenirs here! Locker Room: HUGE. Rows and rows of lockers. Unlike Trump National Los Angeles, this locker room houses tons of members. I love the Hawaiian flower carpet. Drop your shoes off as you enter the front door for cleaning. Men's Clubhouse: The lady's have their own side, and so do the men. As a kid/junior, some of my favorite memories are coming in here after a round and eating the delicious popcorn and pupus. Bonus was a root beer shake! yummmmm. My Uncle, Dr. Richard K.B. Ho introduced me to golf here. Because of him, I produced a decent swing and huge love of the game. Because of him, I met legends like Hale Irwin. Heard his storied of playing with Paul Aziner, Mark O Meara. Watched Chi Chi Rodriguez hit two balls consecutively and make them hit each other midair!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? My Unc was the President of the HSGA (Hawaii State Golf Association) and showed me the rules, the swing, the etiquette, the class...... All on Waialae's beautful grounds. I came here for my friend's wedding. This place is absolutely gorgeous as a wedding venue. The wedding was in the back on the grassy area. The space can accommodate your family and closest friends, everyone else can stand behind them to watch the ceremony. It was a bit windy, but there was a beautiful ocean view. The room for the reception had an ocean view with a high ceiling to accommodate I'd say maybe 150-200 guests comfortably. The staff were very nice. Oh, by the way, you must be a country club member or have someone sponsor you if you want to eat or have an event here. The food was buffet style and simple but pretty good. There was spinach salad, watered salad, potato mac salad, somen salad, fruit, starches, a meat and seafood option and steamed broccoli. I don't know if this is their standard banquet menu or choices that my friends' picked. Maybe if I can find someone to sponsor me, I can get married here too! Beautiful corse, green is very smooooooth and almost flat. Easy for amateurs so I made best score at that time. I think obviously?? Good for Professional. I am not a member, but I recently walked the course as a caddy for Sony Open's Pro-Am tournament....and I must say, the golf course is very nice. I'd love to play on it one day. (I was so tempted to just drop a ball and hit it while I was caddying, just so I can say I've "played" on it. LoL) Hopefully one day, I can be baller-status and be a member of this place.
