They were hot and so generous - I didn't think we'd finish, but did because they were so light and tasty. The kids shared a kids pizza and fried chicken and fries - a pretty good deal especially since the chicken is their specialty. I had the mix plate - which included the medium rare steak, fried fish, and fried chicken - a yummy assortment for $24. I was STUFFED and happy to get to try an assortment of their best dishes! My husband tried the smashed burger and fries - perfectly seasoned, went well with the bun, fresh tomato and lettuce, and without mayonnaise or special sauce as requested. We recently visited for the first time as my father in law wanted to celebrate his birthday here. Parking is easy since they have lots of stalls! However, one thing to note is there is no elevator from the round about/drop off area so you'll just want to walk around the building to get to restaurant. It's a short walk and nicely paved so it was fine for us! No reservations unless it's a party of 8 or more. Very casual but nicely updated restaurant! All the staff were super friendly and loved how we could watch the UH football game on their multiple TV screens! Menu has lots of options! We went for dinner so you could order off the lunch or dinner menu. Lots of drinks to select from and loved how they had a kids menu too! I ordered the salmon chazuke off the lunch menu and it was delicious! Husband for the rib eye and said it was good. Dessert was also very surprising that they had a handful of options! Returned for dinner at the invitation of Pearl at Kalauao last week. (Sorry this review is a week late.) Arrived at 5pm and was promptly greeted and seated. Our server Hana was bubbly and friendly. She took good care of us. They had the Maui POG seltzer in hand so I got that. Hubby had the Modelo on tap. We enjoyed both. Their complimentary waffle style chips were crispy and warm. Warm makes it over the top yummy! Hubby had the homemade chili & chicken with white rice and potato/mac salad. Chili definitely has a homemade taste. Came topped with a lot of chopped onions and some cheese. He said it was tasty but he'd ask for less onions if he gets it in the future. The fried chicken was boneless pieces and had a honey mustard dipping sauce on the side, which was very good. He got it with potato/mac salad, which he said was good. He ate just about everything. I got the Mauka to Makai (turf and surf), 8 oz ribeye (ordered rare plus), and shrimp scampi, with steamed veggies and white rice. The ribeye came closer to medium rare, which was why I ordered it rare plus instead of medium rare, and it was ok with me. The shrimp was a surprise, lightly breaded with shell on. Shell was thin enough to eat, pupu style which I did with the first shrimp, but it's never been my thing so I peeled it off the remaining shrimp. Pity to waste the crisp breading, but oh well. The four shrimp were large, firm, cooked just right, not dry at all. Steamed veggies were good. Meal was good, and there was plenty. Had to take half home. Hana came back to check on us and ask us if we wanted more drinks and how the food was. Derek the manager for the evening also came to check on us while we ate. We were well taken care of. This was my first time dining at Pearl at Kalauao since the renovation, although I've been here many times to play golf. Beautiful golf course overlooking Pearl Harbor. The menu is pretty simple and straightforward, with a good variety of reasonably priced lunch options. This restaurant gets very busy around noon. When I visited, there were quite a few groups of friends meeting up for lunch, which gave the restaurant a lively, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, a nice place to grab lunch if you're in the area. The menu is simple, prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is especially lively around lunchtime. Enjoy! read more

I'm mostly a five star review kind of guy The exchange was so awkward today zero stars, except for the first waitress, who greeted us very friendly, warm, a lot of Aloha. We came here based on the yelp reviews and wanted to take the same pictures Everybody else took when they dined here , however our waitress said that she was uncomfortable with being around cameras and even went inside and had the general manager humiliating come out to our table and tell us that staff members do not wish to be on cameras. We were a low key quiet couple at best. What makes this exchange to awkward is that when the waitress said she did not want to be part of the yelp review , we graciously told her that was fine and we placed our order. There was no long discussion no attitude and no sass from anyone. It was three adults that came to an understanding. In the restaurant business, there's something called table touching and that's when the general manager pays a table a visit to see how everything is going or how everything went. What we assume was a table touching was actually an interrogation of who we were ? why are we taking pictures ? etc. In my 21 years living on this island, I've never had anybody come out and behave this way, especially not a general manager , because of a paranoid waitress As embarrassed as I was in front of my husband, I spoke to the general manager inside away from my table and ask them does he approach every single yelper? And he never introduced himself. He just started asking questions the body language everything was off. Out of professionalism and courtesy when he approached our table, we both stood on our feet and greeted him with a smile and extended our hands We will never return to this restaurant Because we felt very unwelcomed by the general manager and the waitress older woman in her 50s or 60s. Well, we did enjoy with seeing all the local people eating there. It's been a while since I've eaten any anywhere that didn't have tourist everywhere. We got as far as the coffee and the complementary corn muffin And please see below as we were recording the front of the restaurant when the waitressed step outside and we turned the camera off. She was about 10 feet away. Maybe next time we won't come dressed as tourist lol. I apologize if I violated any laws, but I thought that as long as we were in public and you can, use your camera. There is no expectation of privacy in a public restaurant, but I guess they have different rules I would be happy to respect if I had known about them in advance. We wanted to have lunch at 1130, so I called to inquire about a reservation for 3. I was told that there might be a short wait, but a reservation was not necessary. My friend and I ordered the BLT sandwich and our other friend ordered some sort of chicken. We all enjoyed our food, more so it was a nice place to sit and have a conversation. With tax and tip our check was $160+ for 6. Hubs said that was the best club sandwich he ever had. I was sad to see that Sweetie's noodles looked overcooked and mushy. My kalbi had a bit too much charred ends with the most burnt one hidden by the rest under them on the bottom. They have coffee but no ice coffee. The server asked if Sweetie wanted refill on her Sprite. Kiddie's mom asked for a tea cup for the tea pot. She made a haku lei for me but I chose to wear it around my neck- she said like a horse at the derby. Wish I could but... I can't pull off wearing a haku lei. I like this restaurant but I can't fix the service flaws, I can only point them out. Again, the food was good. The prime rib sandwich was thoroughly enjoyed and the fish and chips are delicious. My chili and rice was tasty but the chili was kind of cold. That being said, there was a lack of service again. We got a reservation for a party of 4 for lunch at 12:00. We were able to get a reservation because of what happened the last visit few came here. The food is enjoyable but the service is extremely slow. We were seated in a corner and waited forever to get served. Other tables that came after us were getting their food before us. My chili was served cold and we waited a very long time fore our check and for our payment to be processed. Our meal lasted over 2 hours. Came here for a food event but it was too hot to wait in line outside so we decided to try the air conditioned restaurant. My mom has highly recommended this place and I'm so glad we tried it! They had a seafood pasta special with crab legs, shrimp and fish and tomato cream sauce and garlic bread. The crab was very time consuming and a hassle but the dish itself was very delicious and the garlic bread was very garlicky, yum. Shrimp plump and fish nuggets decent. Very reasonable prices. Taylor got chili chicken mix plate with potato salad. He was expecting a fried chicken thigh but was surprised that it was karaage style. He loved the flavor of the chili though and the potato mac salad was very good (I ate most of it since it had black olives). We also got the keiki cheese pizza it was ok. Great place for a casual lunch. Most of the patrons are golfers waiting for their tee times or have finished playing. There are others who probably work in the area and are on a lunch break. Their menu is diverse with local favorites, sandwiches, salads, and local comfort foods. You can always find something to eat for lunch which suits your taste. I have been there twice now and the food is pretty good. I had the salmon ochazuke, my property manager had the fish sandwich, and our two clients had salads. They also provide complimentary potato chips to the table, which they make fresh at the restaurant. Most of the fare is less than $20.00. Service is great and friendly. Wow, this is the first time dining here. Such a nice scenery facing the Golf course. There are indoor and outdoor seating. We sat on the outside to view the course but there was heavy vog in the skies. Food server was very nice and accommodating. Our order came out in a timely matter. They served us some chips for an appetizer. I thought it was a little over seasoned tho. I had the Pearl Mix Plate which came with Pulehu Ribeye, Fried Chicken, and Breaded Fish with French Fries. The steak was cooked more on the well-done side due for the thin cut, but flavorful. It was different for me, because I usually have it m/r. The fried chicken and breaded fish was just ok. The Salmon Ochazuke was excellent, it came with a pot of tea. A great tasting dish, very flavorful. We came back the next day to try different items. This time we sat indoors. We started with the Arabiki and Cabbage appetizer, a great way to start lunch. We had the Chef's Shrimp Scampi with garlic bread. It was really good, but I wish the shrimp was a little bigger. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting but like The Alley, who would've thought that Pearl City Golf Course would have such a great place? I love their complimentary fresh chips with just a hint of salt and their dishes are excellent. I had their mixed plate and the beef, fish and chicken were excellent! The service is always good and I suggest getting there early before the crowds show up. I don't think it's a good idea to visit during a tournament because this place will fill up fast. I walked in 15 minutes prior to the rest of the group; most tables were ready filled up. That was a good sign! I've been here for breakfast, never lunch. I got seated even though I told them it may be a few minutes until the rest of the party showed up. The complimentary bowl of house made chips were amazing! I couldn't stop eating them, but didn't want to get filled up. I ordered a smash burger and was going to be "good" and have a salad with it, but my server suggested the fries. I am so glad I followed her recommendation. The fries are the crusted type - it was so crispy and yummy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The portions were very generous so that we unfortunately didn't have room for dessert. That just means we need to go back. After a quick bucket of balls, my friend and I stopped in for a quick brekky. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating with a beautiful view. It can get a little sunny depending upon the time of year so it is nice and cool with the AC option indoors. Breakfast is served with complimentary sweet, honey corn bread toast which is amazing, and doesn't need butter or jelly, although is accompanied with a side. A variety to choose from, traditional breakfast, big breakfast, pancakes, chicken and waffles, breakfast burrito, grits, scramble, and more. I decided on the bagel and lox. It was so fresh, and the little slices tomatoes were marinated and savory like the capers, amazing. I saved 1/2 for later and it kept perfectly. My friend had the avocado toast with two eggs served on top and said the same about everything being very fresh and so ono. Service was attentive and friendly, offering coffee and beverage refills. It was around 9 a.m., so there were still plenty of open tables -- we chose a big one outside to enjoy the morning breeze and view. After browsing the menu, we decided to share the Lox & Bagel and the Avocado Toast so we could try both. The lox had just the right balance of salmon to cream cheese -- rich but not overpowering -- while the avocado toast was perfectly creamy and flavorful. Of course, my sweet tooth couldn't resist adding the Sweet Bread French Toast, which turned out to be a generous portion (definitely enough for two!). I only made it through one slice and asked to have the rest packed up, but I think our server didn't quite catch that since the place had really filled up by the time we left around 11. Even so, everything was delicious, and the setting made it such a relaxing breakfast. Love this spot at the former Pearl Country Club suggested by my friend Nadine C which is now called Pearl at Kalauao though nothing seems to change but the name along with having Night Market on every last Wednesday of the month that's really fun as they have entertainment and a grassy area to sit and enjoy the vibe. First time back since the change but for brunch which is on the lower level from the banquet area just off from the starting area and as we entered which apparently is a side door but you need to wait to be seated which there wasn't any sign so we were a bit confused but the staff is very nice and friendly that started us with water and gave us menu. Not quite the sporty vibe but does have large screen tv throughout the restaurant along with panorama view of the golf course and since it was breakfast it was the "Breakfast Scramble" which starts with three eggs with onion and cheese and a one of four choice to add on which I chose veggies (Spinach, Mushroom, Bell Peppers, Tomato) along with rice or what I chose is breakfast potatoes. Entrees comes with complimentary corn bread with grape jelly and is a nice heavenly bite. The breakfast scramble was amazing as I do just love to mix all my goodies with the egg and the presentation is so nice and fresh with a couple of fruit garnish it was a great way to start my day. Parking is free and have many areas to choose from making it a great place to gather as there were some larger tables that was reserved and can imagine it's for a group of golfers ready to summarize their day. It's been years since I've been to this clubhouse. Normally we come in the evening for a party. So a lot about people brunching here and I needed a fresh air experience since being in an office all week. So today's the day. It's super easy getting here and plenty of parking even for a Saturday. No reservations required unlesss there are 10+ in your party. Didn't realize the dining room was downstairs as I've only been here for parties. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating but we chose inside since it's cooler and it was a cloudy day. There's no hostess, so you can sit anywhere you like. Luckily, it wasn't busy and so we could pick our own window seat. After reviewing the menus of local line grinds, my sister decided on chicken katsu plate that she enjoyed. She said it was "homemade" and plenty of chicken. Unfortunately, my sister didn't like the ginger salad dressing I ordered the fried chicken and chili combo. The chicken are cut into nugget size AND they left the skin on. So good. The chili and potato salad were also delicious. We ordered dessert. They ran out of one ice cream so we got the strawberry guava cake with vanilla ice cream. The cake was dry but the ice cream helped a lot. All the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful price is right. Few times that I spend less than $50 on brunch. read more

A hidden gem restaurant with a nice view! Came here for a birthday brunch and it wasn't too busy for a party of 7, we were seated right away. Servers were really good throughout our dining experience. The menu had everything from sandwiches, salads, rice plates & ramen. I would say it was a mix of American & local dishes. Our party ordered almost everything on the menu so we could try it out. The club sandwich was my favorite, it was toasty and filled with lots of protein! Happy Hour! I visited with some friends recently. We were looking for a place that was casual, not located in town, and preferably a happy hour. Pearl at Kalauao checked all those boxes for sure. NOTES 1. Free Parking! 2. Per the menu, happy hour is every weekday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm. 3. The restaurant is on the lower level of the main building ("clubhouse"). Walk toward the rear of the building (thru the front entrance) and the stairs to the restaurant will be on the left. 4. Seating in the restaurant is indoor or at the outdoor lanai. 5. The restaurant was not crowded when we visited on a recent weekday; we arrived between 4:00 - 4:30pm. 6. The restaurant closes at 6:00pm, fyi. Make sure to put in your "last call" orders for happy hour. FOOD / DRINK As we had a group of 7 (with some a bit hungry), we jokingly said we should order every item on the hh menu. Well, we almost did. In the end, we ordered the PK fried chicken, tako karaage, shrimp lumpia, french fries, fried noodles, mushroom medley, and the edamame. I guess that most of the menu. No surprise here: my favorite was the french fries the tako karaage. Honorable mention: fried noodles. Overall, the food was satisfying and the portions were decent. Aside from the food, I ordered the Pink Pearl. I thought it was quite refreshing.....though I couldn't taste much alcohol. SERVICE Our server was a very friendly and polite young lady. We were sat right away and we had a great server named Alicia. Alicia was super friendly and efficient. She took the time to answer any questions we had and gave her honest recommendations. They also brought a complimentary basket of potato chips that tasted freshly made and warm, they were so good! Food came out in a reasonable amount of time, freshly made and hot. I had the Oxtail Ramen, it was served with minced ginger on the side and and had all the goodies I like in Oxtail Soup, Chinese Parsley (Cilantro), mustard cabbage, peanuts and generous portions of meaty Oxtails with not that much fat with a tasty broth and ramen noodles. It was delicious! My husband ordered cocktails and the Mixed Plate, which consisted of a Ribeye Steak, Fried Chicken,Battered Fish and Mac Salad, he ordered it with brown rice and he enjoyed it. Correct and hey, it's free. The chicken and waffle pairs a crisp on the outside chewy on the inside true yeast leavened waffle with local style, skin on, bite sized, juicy morsels of chicken thighs. The deep fried chicken skin is where it's at. Pancakes are wonderfully chewy! Who likes those silly light fluffy fall apart with syrup discs? The banana pancakes are not sweet, deriving any sweetness from the bananas and dusting of powdered sugar. They eagerly await some butter and syrup. The two eggs and a side of odd tasting ham (ie deli ham for a sandwich) that comes with, overkill. No complaints on the endlessly refilled coffee. Friendly local service with a smile. I have always been curious about the restaurant here and had family visiting so we decided to try this place out. Well, I guess everyone else has known about this place because it was quite crowded when we got there during the lunch period, but we were able to be seated after a few minutes. I found the menu to be quite large for this type if restaurant. Every table gets served with a basket of waffle cut potato chips which were nicely fried and crispy. I can never seem to pass up a turkey club sandwich and I didn't pass it up this time either. The sandwich was huge. I ended up taking out the middle piece of bread just to make it a more reasonable size for me to eat. I still only finished 1/2 my sandwich, and I ended up taking the rest home. The French fries that I chose to eat with my sandwich were hot and fresh and the sandwich was pretty good too except the avocado was a bit past it's prime. My sister and SIL both ordered the BLT which they also enjoyed, and my brother enjoyed his chili and rice. A great place to dine. read more

Thank you, Honey! The company, the ambiance, the atmosphere, the view, the food and the service was...AMAZING & MAGICAL! We were immediately greeted with a friendly server with a basket of COMPLIMENTARY freshly made potato chips. I was surprised with this nice gesture. Let me tell you, these were so DElish! Very addicting...once you try one, you can't seem to take your hands off of the pile of chips! My husband and I both ordered the: SMASH BURGER (Homemade patty) that comes with cheddar cheese and bacon with a choice of: fries, potato salad or mixed greens. I had the potato salad and my husband had the fries. Everything was so onolicious! Try this!!! Our favorite here! On my other visits I tried: PULEHU STEAK (Rib-eye) SALAD: a nice hearty salad that came with a light liliko'i vinaigrette and fixings. It was very delicious and a generous portion. THE CLUBHOUSE SANDWICH: your typical clubhouse sandwich. It came with a choice of : fries, potato salad or mixed greens. We choose the potato salad. It was yummy and filling. THE LOCO MOCO: it was so ono, but the portion was little. Under the egg was a couple of mini patty's. I was a little disappointed because it was smaller than the smash burger. Not sure if I'll order this again because I was still pretty hungry after this. Hopefully, they will make the burger larger so it is filling. HAWAIIAN PLATE (offered only on Friday) : our friend ordered take out and brought it to our house for dinner) It came with kalua pig, long rice, lomi salmon, rice and haupia. It was pretty good. We had a party there and the food was very good, service was also very good with the staff very friendly and attentive. So I decided to try and go there again for lunch. We went into the restaurant and there were no workers there, some people were sitting and having snacks and drinks but there were no one to service us for lunch. We walked around the restaurant a bit to see if anyone would come out. We left after about 5 minutes. If no one came out of the back or the kitchen within 5 minutes than there is no use for us to stay. read more

What a hidden gem! Pearl at Kalauao is the perfect lunch spot with an incredible view overlooking the lush golf course. It was a stunning day! Peaceful, breezy, and scenic. They offer both indoor (with ac) and outdoor seating, but we chose to sit outside. The patio is fully covered and shaded, and thanks to the trade winds, it stayed cool and comfortable the entire time. Such a relaxing setting to enjoy a meal. The service was truly impeccable. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and so good with my baby! She came by numerous times to see if we needed anything. I ordered the chili and rice with a hot dog, and it hit the spot! The chili has a nice spicy kick to it. I asked if I could swap the usual side of potato or salad for extra crispy fries, and she gladly made the exception. The fries came out perfectly crispy, just how I like them. They also bring out crunchy chips as an appetizer for the table, which was a nice touch. I'd give it 4 stars purely on the view and potential because although my food was pretty good, it wasn't 4 stars or filling. I can see other things on the menu that would probably be really good. I got the oxtail soup and it was mostly broth so I wasn't full. The meat was minimal but, it was okay. It also took like 20-25 mins to come out. Service was good and the outdoor seating would be great to just chill and oversee Pearl Harbor. I'll be going back for sure and pick something myself rather than take the recommendation. Parking can be challenging but overall I look forward to returning read more

We wanted to try something different for the family and decided to have our casual lunch here at the beautiful Pearl Country Club. The place has a nice view and the service was good and friendly. They also had a few flat screen tvs throughout the room so that everyone would be entertained watching their favorite sports being televised. The menu was very well thought out as they had a good variety of sandwiches and plate lunch options. They promote local beef as the menu highlights those certain dishes. Prices are reasonable and the portions are quite large with the majority of our party taking home leftovers. A very nice place to come and hang out and talk story with lots of free parking. They don't rush you and they also have a very well stocked bar that you can order whatever you feel like drinking. Highly recommended if you just want a nice place to hang out and not feel that you have to dress up. read more

I'm in a quandary. Pearl at Kalauao is really a pearl and I wish to tell everyone about this place with a million dollar view overlooking a fantastic golf course and Pearl Harbor and serving outstanding and delicious meals at great prices and I still want to keep Pearl a secret. Don't tell everyone, here you will find absolutely great food. The Pearl at Kalauao Chicken is outta this world, oxtail soup with noodles is to die for, couldn't put the Hot Pastrami Sandwich down for a breath of air was so good. The list goes on. We stopped here cause it's on the way home and pleasantly surprised with the great service. Took us to our table, cool glass of iced water, menu and our waitress answered all our questions and made us feel like we didn't make a mistake by stopping here for dinner. The thing I like about this place is the service given you tries hard to make you appreciate the step above dining experience and you're in a golf course clubhouse, what a poignant juxtaposition. Bottom line, service is outstanding. Let me touch on the great job the new management did in setting the new tone. Comfortable chairs, clean tables and floors plus there's no smudges on their doors. The mood you get when you walk in and the atmosphere it transcends puts you in the best of state of awareness that you're going get great service, great food, dining comfort, great dollar value with a million dollar view and if you're there on the weekend you get live music, what more can ask for? Came here for happy hour. Not too many choices from the happy hour menu so ended up ordering from the menu. Food was ok. Many local dishes worth the try. Service was not up to par today.
