They have been at the current location for approximately 1 year according to the doctor(?) I saw. I'm not sure where they were prior. They are active on Facebook and Instagram, though. And there are a few (4 to be exact) reviews on Google. REFERRAL & SCHEDULING: I was referred to North Shore Prosthetics & Orthotics by my doctor to get fitted for some personalized insoles. I called their office immediately after my referral and was able to get an appointment scheduled. It was an easy process. Since my appointment was scheduled for a Monday, I received a call the Friday prior reminding me of my upcoming appointment. The receptionist who called sounded pleasant. APPOINTMENT DAY: The office was fairly easy to find. It is located in Pearl City, just off Kamehameha Highway (right before Neal S. Blaisdell Park). The office is well marked; there is a big sign outside that is easily visible from the road. The parking lot is shared by a few other businesses and is small with limited parking spots. Parking is free, though. Upon entering the door, the receptionist desk is right there and is shared by the waiting area with a few chairs. There are also are few displays of prosthetics, assumingly of the products they provide. The waiting area gave me the impression that they recently moved into that building and are still adjusting. It was decorated but basic! When I walked in, the receptionist was speaking with someone who I assume was one of the doctors but, she acknowledged me and told be that she would be with me shortly. Someone else walked in after me and she acknowledged them as well. When the receptionist was done, she called me to the desk and checked me in for my appointment. She asked me a few questions, verified my information, made a copy of my identification card, and also made a copy of the presentation from my doctor. COVID PROTOCOLS: Pre-appointment call: The receptionist called and asked about travel and covid-related symptoms. AT APPOINTMENT CHECK-IN: - masks are required by employees and patients - temperature checked by receptionist (I was already sitting/waiting in the waiting area for at least 5 minutes prior to my temperature being checked) - receptionist wore gloves prior to taking documents - hand sanitizer available at receptionist desk Not too long after I checked in, Greg came to the front and called me back. We walked the short distance back to his office. The office was bare. It had a basic desk and chair where Greg sat. He used a laptop to conduct additional administrative actions (not a desktop to suggest permanency). Under the desk were a few boxes, one of which he used later to make a mold of my feet. Adjacent to his desk were two chairs, one of which I sat in. Both set of chairs were close enough so he could examine my feet. There was another small desk in the corner with gloves and hand sanitizer.  There were small particles on the ground that I thought needed cleaning however, after doing my mold, I realized the particles were from the foam materials used to make the mold. Greg put on gloves prior to examining my feet. Once he was done he discarded the gloves and sanitized. He informed me that the insoles would be ready in approximately 2 weeks and asked me to make a follow up appointment on my way out, which I did. My appointment was fairly simple and quick. Overall, I have no qualms about my first experience with North Shore Prosthetics & Orthotics.

It was kinda cute but didn't go away. It reminded me of that small kid time thing a ma jig tube you squeeze and roll a tiny jelly like ball onto a straw and blow. What we did as kids. Thank goodness it didn't smell like that product. Dr. Kristy told me on the first visit it's coming from the first joint on that toe so place a Kleenex on it and press. It didn't break and remained. So I made another appointment since it started to hurt when I pressed on it plus majorly not attractive. Long story short she advised me that she'd cut, spread it open, take out the joint and remove the bump which one day popped on its own without healing. 1/9/26 Went into surgery with Dr. Kristy and a fantastic team at Pali Momi. Five days later on 1/14/26 went in for a follow up. Was curious to see what the little toesy would look like...I imagined the worst so at the unveiling I was SO majorly pleased that the toe didn't flop without the first joint and wasn't badly discolored or bruised. Dr. Kristy explained it all depends on the healing process it could still flap- hideous! I'll do my best to heal well and come back on 1/22/26 to remove the stitches then go get a vibrant red colored pedicure with bling pronto to celebrate. It was unbearable this past weekend where I took Ibuprofen for the discomfort. I previously have been under the care of Dr. Ricky Sukita so I called the office first thing Monday morning and was advised Dr. Sukita's first opening is not until in April. I was offered the option to see Dr. Andrew Cheng, who was available and snagged the next appointment at 845am. Located in the same office as Dr. Sukita on the 11F of Kuakini Physician's Tower, Dr. Cheng is also a board certified podiatrist. After confirming which area of my right foot experiencing discomfort, Dr. Cheng performed an assessment of various tests for mobility and sensitivity. I was initially shocked when diagnosed with a mild case of gout. But then recalled about 10 years ago when my PCP mentioned my uric acid level was on the high side and back then had also experienced excruciating sharp pain on my toe. I also had eaten very well in Japan, especially chowing down on deep fried Hiroshima oysters on multiple occasions, Gyukatsu from Motomura and my AYCE shabu shabu dinner. Yikes... Dr, Cheng advised I'd be put on oral medicine to be taken daily to ease the pain and to watch my intake. He had his staff arrange my medication pickup at my location choice where it was ready for pickup within a few hours. Shortly after taking Colchicine, the pinkness of the flare up disappeared and was able to apply more pressure on my right foot. Overall, an excellent first experience with Dr. Cheng. I was able to get the medical attention needed and received the care and direction for recovery. He was easy to speak with and understand my situation where I need to be careful on my diet as well as address this issue when I meet with my PCP for my regular annual physical in a few months.

Prompt rooming: I was taken to an exam room almost immediately upon arrival. Cons: Unprofessional bedside manner: While I was explaining the intense pain in my right foot, Dr. Cheng interrupted me to take a phone call and stepped out of the room. When he returned, he offered no explanation or apology, leaving me with the impression that he was unconcerned with my care. Lack of clear communication: He provided very little explanation for my condition, simply stating I had "boney spurs on both feet," handed me some pads, and rushed me out of the office. I ultimately had to seek care from another podiatrist to get the proper treatment and answers I needed. Poor billing practices: The billing department is highly disorganized. I was seen in September 2025, but I did not receive a bill until 7 months later in April 2026. The statement indicates that my insurance company communicated what I owed back in November 2025. It is incredibly frustrating and confusing why it took the office so long to send the bill after that information was already provided. Summary: I had high expectations for this office based on positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. The lack of patient care and communication, combined with a disorganized billing department, makes it difficult to recommend this practice.

She informed me that she would remove the joint on my third toe and try to stitch it up as best she could. Sadly removing the joint will leave my toe flapping. I was grossed out but...Hopefully it is better than a tiny blister looking bubble that doesn't subside. Guess when I go out in public I should wear covered footwear vs slippers or open sandals as needed. I was self conscious for anyone to see it especially my pedicure person. I had gone and showed both my doctor and dermatologist prior. My previous appointment Dr. Kristy suggested using a Kleenex and pressing on it... stayed the same. Last straw was when I went to the dentist, you prop your feet up. She always comments on my holiday nails and the assistant saw that bubble. Ugh. *** I am now Waiting on her front desk two ladies to get back to me with a surgery date and check in time for January 2026 since Monday. Dr. Kristy's regular surgery days are Fridays. I shared with the front desk ladies: The sooner in the month hopefully right after the New Year since need my toe to heal before the biggest trip of my entire life comes up in spring. I also met a pretty med student who entered the examining room. She introduced herself as Dr. Chun's daughter who I've seen before years ago. She said Dr. Kristy would be in shortly. No vital signs were needed. She thanked us for our patience since we waited for a while to be seen. Dr. Chun was very patient, gentle, and thorough. We found out that he graduated from Pearl City High School and went to San Francisco for college - that's why he's a Giants' fan... he has a lot of memorabilia in the waiting room's display case! I decided to just buy one pair since $58+ seemed a bit steep on price for me plus they pair they had was actually a men's socks and looked like what little old ladies wear...ahem...
