What a wonderful experience for the family to swim with the manta rays! From scheduling, follow-up phone call, arrival to end-customer service was top notch! We also booked a guide snorkeling tour for the next day, additional review to come...

This was a bucket list item for me. Hawaii Oceanic helped to make it an experience that surpassed my expectations. All of the crew members were outstanding and made it an enjoyable and safe time. I highly recommend doing the Manta Ray snorkel adventure with Hawaii Oceanic.

My boyfriend and I are on our first trip to Hawaii and spent a morning snorkeling with Chad and Hunter. During our snorkeling, Chad continuously checked on the group and Hunter was in the water helping us free dive and giving snorkeling tips. They not only gave us an amazing snorkeling experience, but talked about the history of the landscape on the way back to the harbor. They took those 3 hours to get to know all the passengers- where we were from and what we do- very personable! We loved the mix of humor and professionalism from these gentlemen. Thank you so much, we will be back!!

This is basically better than Disneyland. They tell you not to try to touch the manta. It's Vegas rules. You cannot touch them, but you gotta pay extra if they touch you. I didn't actually expect that they would come right up inches away from us. We had 5 rays at once somersaulting below us. As soon as they saw the lights, they came. I had to pull my GoPro up a few times because I didn't realize they'd come so close. It really is a very magical experience. Top 10 things to do if you're in Kona. Just be prepared to park a little ways away. Parking fills fast

Crew member Grace was quick to notify the captain to slow the boat, and Josh used a long pole to retrieve the debris. The whole board cheered! At that moment I knew we were in good hands. Kona was experiencing high swells this week, but that was no challenge for Sea Paradise and Captain John. The sail was very comfortable on a double hauled catamaran, the boat even had with a large seating area through the middle that's shaded! Snorkel gear was provided, along with a demonstration on how to use it for beginners. The first snorkel locations had lots of fish (I SAW AN EEL!) As we boated over to the second location, a pod of SPINNER DOLPHINS joined us!! We sprawled out on the splash nets at the front of the boat to get up pretty close the the dolphins who loved playing in the boats wake. At the second location I choose to stay on board and enjoy the drink service. Crew members Kamaile and Myrissa were very friendly and tentative making sure our cup was filled. ** I highly recommend the spicy margaritas ** Lunch was served on the way back to the boat ramp, where a sandwich bar was prepared with a variety of meat and cheese options to choose from, (I combined tuna with turkey and pepper jack cheese with lettuce and cucumbers inside) It was delish. Many people learn from history books about captain cook, on this sail we were enlightened about the significance of Kealakekua Bay from the Native Hawaiian perspective. The Hawaiian culture is just so impressive. I highly recommend joining the sail to gain insight on how special the land and surrounding oceans are to Natives. Thank you for an amazing experience Sea Paradise and Crew!

We have also been a numerous scuba dive boat trips. One of the ladies traveling in our group had never done a snorkel trip on Hawaii's big Island. The crew and boat were excellent. The crew communicated well, let us board on time and gave a good detailed safety briefing. They were very friendly and made the trip a lot of fun. Their catamaran, even though there were 45+ passengers, had plenty of room along with adequate storage. The boat gave a clean image and the lavatory to the joy of the ladies was pristine. We were served a nice fruit salad as we left the dock along with some pastries and muffins. Later, after our second snorkeling stop, we were served a deli style lunch that was excellent. All the sodas and sparkling waters you wanted were included along with a variety of chips and bagged cookies. While we brought our own snorkel gear, The boat was well organized in its distribution of gear and had lots of sizes and choices for either the beginner or experienced snorkeler. The crew was very helpful to the inexperienced and allowed those with obvious experience a little more leeway. They gave a good briefing at each of the two snorkel sites that we went to, and spent the exact amount of time snorkeling that they had indicated. While we saw lots of tropical reef fish of many different types, we weren't blown away by the experience. For a traveler who has not done a lot of snorkeling or never snorkel on the big island before this is certainly a good two exceptionally good operation and location to go snorkeling with.

The guides took the tour out to the Captain Cook Monument, where the snorkeling was cool. The water was clear, the marine life plenty, and it ended up being one of the best snorkeling spots I've experienced. One tip: be sure to rent the flippers when you sign up. They made a huge difference and helped a lot in the water. They are not provided from the all in tour price. For the tour price you get the ride and snorkel mask with a floaty. They also rent life jackets if you need that. This tour is definitely geared toward people who are comfortable swimming and being on an open-air boat. If you're nervous in the water or can't swim or prefer a more relaxed boat ride, this isn't it. If you're looking for excitement, it's hard to beat. What really made the experience special were the crew members. Our captain and lifeguard were laid-back, friendly, and made everyone feel safe while keeping the atmosphere fun. The highlight for me was racing along the coastline at nearly 50 knots, bouncing across the waves and taking in incredible views of the island. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

So I had to wait about 40 minutes for a return call. The experience wasn't very welcoming and not very 'aloha.' Day of the event, it was confusing that the confirmation I received (when I booked) said 11:00pm, at one point the confirmation said 11:50pm, and then finally it said 10:50pm. So I had to keep on checking the confirmation page, because it kept on changing. Definitely don't show up too early, because you'll be turned away! The actual event was a ton of fun, although I got a bit seasick after about 20 minutes. The mantas are absolutely gorgeous and you'll feel super special when they look you in the eye. The guys on the boat were great and very welcoming. This might be a little TMI, but when I got back to the hotel a tiny dead fish popped out of my bathing suite. Eww.

It's obvious they love what they do. Val was very sweet and caring with assisting everyone from the beginning to the end. Very engaging and informative during the snorkeling. I stayed on the boat while my cousin was out with Val. Rob and Seth kept the boat close enough for me to see the manta rays and hear the group. Was told the water was very cold. It's not cold while waiting on the boat. They have a bin for people to keep their stuff stored and dry. No shoes on the boat. They have a bin for that too. The first googles they gave me snapped at the strap when I tried to put it on. The second one had a valve in front of my mouth that seemed to be faulty and let in water with every breath. I wish I just had the old school ones that are just a tube. Went in January and the short sleeve wet suit top was not early enough to keep you warm. Lots of guests were shivering the whole time. The day we went the water was choppy and we got sea sick while in the water. Also getting jostled around by the waves against your closely packed neighbors was def not serene or magical or "experiencing nature" or anything. Not so fun, when combined with tasting sea water with every breath and being cold. Also they don't tell you before you pay but they give you a pool noodle to help you swim to the floating light and to keep your lower body afloat. If you want a life vest it's $10. So in summary, I think it can be nice if the conditions are right and their equipment works. People told me this is an amazing experience but let's be real and beware these factors that can make it not so enjoyable.
