Great time with Captain Adrian, Beau and Denali! We did the morning snorkel to Captain Cook (Kealakekua Bay). We got really lucky and only 18 total guests so it was like we had a private charter. Lots of room to move around and time to talk to the crew. Parking - it's a tiny parking lot filled with early morning fisherman. If you arrive at 8:03am ... You may score a parking spot as the fisherman leave. We arrived before...like 7:45 and ended up just parking along the road like Sea Paradise suggested. Bathroom situation - there is a bathroom building near the parking lot...and there are 2 on the catamaran. Check in area - in the parking lot against the fence.... Facing the catamaran. Reef safe sunscreen - they provide this which is great! And it rubs in pretty smoothly too. No shoes - everyone removes their shoes prior to boarding and they put them in a big bin so wear easy slip ons or flip flops Boarding - they will help you if you are unsteady since the boat may be moving around as you board. Safety - they go over all the usual... Plus a couple basic hand signals to use when in the water. Equipment - they provide mask, snorkel, fins and flotation noodles ...and anti fog spray for the masks. Snorkeling - 2 locations. Easy on/off with their stair system. One where they have an anchor to tie to. Denali jumped in and hooked us up. And then she got out a paddle board and fins to float with us and keep an eye on everyone. In case anyone needed help, she was in the water with us. The 2nd location was Captain Cook. No anchor.... It's a sanctuary so.... Captain Adrian had to stay under power the whole time and maneuver the catamaran so it was always positioned so the stairs faced us snorkelers...and to avoid the other boats and people in the water. Quite an exercise. Beau was on the board in the water with us to keep an eye out and be there in case we needed his assistance. I didn't see any other tour guide in the water and there were several tour groups there. This level of service and how conscientious they were is the reason to book Sea Paradise. Food - included in the trip price. They make sure you have sustenance. Snorkeling is fun and makes you hungry. Ha! Breakfast was pastries, fruit, coffee, hot tea, soft drinks. Snacks were chips and cookies. Lunch included an assortment of cold cuts, cheese, tuna mix, hummus, veg, toss salad. After we were done snorkeling, the bar was opened for those looking for a beer or cocktail. A Real Cocktail. Not just canned drinks. Alcohol was extra $ of course. All soft drinks were included in the trip price. Ginger Candy! They had lots available and useful to help settle any queasiness. We got a bonus on this trip... We saw a manta ray when we were departing Captain Cook. We were back at the dock at 12:55... right on time. They laid out all our shoes on the dock. They have Venmo available to tip in case you don't have cash. I would definitely book them for any tour! Or to do this one again. Mahalo to Captain Adrian, Denali and Beau! You guys are awesome!

The Capitan and his crew are very organized, professional, and certified lifeguards. From registration, to reservations and the itinerary, this experience is worthy of a 5-star rating. While vacationing in Hawaii we signed up for snorkeling. The boat took us out to a nice cove. It was a great idea to have a guided tour that told us facts and historical information along the way. The snorkeling equipment came with the price of admission. They are very "big" on conservation and preservation of the land, sea, and animals. They take careful measures to not intrude or disrupt the natural habitat. The water temperature was perfect on this sunny day. This was a very memorable experience. Sincerely, Rosemary

Had an amazing morning snorkel. The entire crew was so friendly. They provided anything you would need including reef safe sunscreen. We even saw a few humpback whales breaching!

Crew are always incredibly down to earth, friendly, and knowledgeable. They are passionate about making your excursions the best ones you have ever had, prioritizing the wellbeing of the marine life in combination with the experience of their customers (enjoyment and safety). Truly wonderful, one-of-a-kind experiences and ones we are anxious to return to! We have enjoyed both the nighttime manta ray swims as well as the afternoon catamaran lunch/ snorkel adventures! They provide everything needed (sans swimsuits) - wet suits (night swim), snorkel gear, ginger chews if you're prone to sea sickness, food/ snacks/ beverages (day trips). The mantas all have "punny" nicknames and the crew know each of them by their unique looks. You are asked not to touch the mantas but they *will* swim close enough to you to brush up against you on each pass. Highly recommend arriving early as parking is very limited and you may likely need to park down the street and walk to the marina. Also, if doing a night excursion, you will want time to get fitted for a wet suit. I didn't include a lot of pictures of the marine life as I didn't want to prioritize picture taking over in-the-moment enjoyment so most of the pics are above water (I also don't have special underwater cameras, only took my phone inside a sealed waterproof bag so, not the best). The water and the marine life were vivid and breathtaking - justice can truly only be done in person! Cannot recommend this company enough! Mahalo, Sea Paradise! Aloha, until next time!

We just got off the morning snorkeling trip and we had an amazing time. The entire crew was polite, professional and helpful in every way. They really made the trip fun and enjoyable. The boat was clean and well maintained with the cleanest bathrooms you will see on a charter boat. They had good snorkeling gear and the crew is right there ready to help you in any way you needed it to make sure you had a fun safe experience. Both the breakfast and lunch meals that come with the trip were delicious and beyond what I was expecting. The bartender can make some good drinks for the ride home when the snorkeling is done. One thing I did notice that Sea Paradise was doing that other boats around us weren't doing. Sea Paradise puts crew members on paddle boards as lifeguards in the areas that you are swimming. That's a big plus for safe in my eyes and I appreciate that. Thank you again for the great time and great memories.

We did the morning snorkel tour and was very pleased with our overall experience. The crew was friendly and welcoming. Our tour included a continental breakfast (fruits and pastries) which the crew passed out for us and a deli sandwich lunch bar with chips. Also, there's complimentary juice and soda. We ended up snorkeling at two spots (45 min each) one of them including Kealakekua bay which was amazing. Something I wish they included was a brief overview or heads up on the fish we were gonna see. Besides that, I would highly recommend Sea Paradise!

This was an absolutely amazing experience. I thought we'd see one or two manta rays swim by a couple times.... It ended up being maybe half a dozen swimming right up to our faces over and over for almost and hour. Amazing!! The guides were super helpful. We all got dressed in wetsuits before getting on the boat. They gave us a safety briefing and then we went out. It's only a 10 minute boat ride out to where we anchored and got in the water. Once in, you have a noodle and you hold on to a raft with lights that attract the plankton the mantas eat. I don't think you really need to be a strong swimmer or snorkeler. You don't swim very far before grabbing the raft. The mantas swim right up to you! You're holding on and floating so you just get to watch. It's amazing. The guides were great for when people had enough or got seasick and had to swim back to the boat. My husband was nervous to swim and be in deep water but they calmed everyone's nerves and made it really fun. They really respect and love the mantas and it's very cool that we get to experience that! One thing is that there is no good parking for this location. It's just street parking along the road down to the dock. Get there early. Don't try to drive down to the dock.

Great snorkeling spot next to Captain Cook Memorial. Fun fact, this is actually British land.

I've been on a few snorkel adventures and absolutely loved this one. The boat was absolutely top-notch. The boat was custom built for excursions it does not disappoint The bathrooms alone were just about yacht quality. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and fun. They definitely have the "aloha spirit." I highly recommend them and would use them again.

Amazing boat and crew. Wonderful smooth ride. Pristine snorkeling at the Captain Cook Monument. My kids had a blast. The fruit and beverages were great! Perfect afternoon for my family.

I'm concerned about taking the early tour because when we are in Kona there will be a full moon, and it will still be pretty light when we are out. Would the early tour be ok, or should we just consider the later tour? Thanks.

Aloha, for our first Manta Ray tour, you may catch a bit of sunset in the beginning, once the safety briefing and equiptment is set out, it will be dark out. Both of our Manta Ray tours offer the same opportunity to view the Manta Rays.

Besides floating noodles, do you have any other floaters?

They also, obviously, have the life vests that I would imagine could be used. However, the noodles worked great! You could also double the noodles if that makes you feel better.

Thankfully, they had space for our entire group for the sunset time (615pm check-in) and we didn't have to wait for the late-late slots. Online booking was easy-peasy (no kama'aina discount, unfortunately). We checked in (parking is street parking and there are several boats leaving from the same area, so it can be a bit of a challenge) pretty easily - there were folks out front directing us where to go for Sea Quest. I decided the $35 for the GoPro rental was a steal compared to trusting my waterproof phone pouch and I have no regrets - you can leave the camera running the whole time and they give you the SD card at the end. It was no trouble to do that once we got there, as I didn't add that when booking. They have a decent gift shop and the keiki in our party bought themselves some stuffed souvenirs. We got fitted for shorty wet suits and prescription masks if needed, and then waited for them to split us into boats and groups. We were accompanied in the water by Wylen (sorry if I butchered the spelling) and Abram, and they had the perfect blend of aloha, humor, and information. Super chill, but you also knew they meant business about Rule Number 1. From there, we boarded the boat, a small zodiac-style craft, for the 5 minute journey to Manta Village. The website made it seem like we could leave things on board, but that really wasn't the case. We left all bags, clothing, towels in a secure room on shore, slippers got collected on the pier, and small things like eyeglasses were stored in a bin on the boat. No trouble, but I wouldn't plan to take anything with you on the boat. Getting into the water was easy, and we had one keiki who was a little apprehensive about everything - they took great care to lower him into the water, and when he wanted to go back to the boat a little early, they accompanied him back to the ladder no problem. There were plenty staff around to help and also identify the mantas by their markings. And there were SO MANY mantas! We had an amazing evening watching them - I lost count and forgot many names, there were so many swimming past. We had 30-40 minutes in the water and we had multiple mantas around us the whole time. I thought the time was plenty - by the time we had about 5 minutes to go, my stomach was ready to be back on land. My only regret is not stretching my triceps beforehand - I was not expecting my arms to be so sore after holding onto the bar around the light board! We paid $135ish plus fees per person (all ages) and it was the highlight of the trip, for sure.

The guides took the tour out to the Captain Cook Monument, where the snorkeling was cool. The water was clear, the marine life plenty, and it ended up being one of the best snorkeling spots I've experienced. One tip: be sure to rent the flippers when you sign up. They made a huge difference and helped a lot in the water. They are not provided from the all in tour price. For the tour price you get the ride and snorkel mask with a floaty. They also rent life jackets if you need that. This tour is definitely geared toward people who are comfortable swimming and being on an open-air boat. If you're nervous in the water or can't swim or prefer a more relaxed boat ride, this isn't it. If you're looking for excitement, it's hard to beat. What really made the experience special were the crew members. Our captain and lifeguard were laid-back, friendly, and made everyone feel safe while keeping the atmosphere fun. The highlight for me was racing along the coastline at nearly 50 knots, bouncing across the waves and taking in incredible views of the island. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Think twice before booking with this company…read more I chose this excursion because it was shorter (2.5 hours) while still including snorkeling and a tour of the Captain Cook area. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. The first issue was the check-in process. The confirmation email tells guests where to meet but does not provide clear instructions on where to check in. Parking at this harbor is extremely limited, and Kona traffic can be very congested. Ironically, the company's own confirmation email emphasizes allowing a one-hour buffer before and after the tour and specifically advises guests not to schedule anything within an hour of the excursion. That warning exists for a reason. Despite everyone else arriving on time, our departure was delayed by nearly 30 minutes because the crew chose to wait for two guests who were stuck in traffic. As a result, every passenger who arrived as instructed lost approximately 30 minutes of a tour they had paid for while standing in the heat waiting. It felt unfair that those who planned accordingly were penalized because others did not. I expressed my irritation to the lifeguard assigned to our boat and was met with a dismissive response rather than an acknowledgment of the inconvenience. Once we finally departed, the captain welcomed everyone and said to let the crew know if we needed anything. During the safety briefing, I asked if my son could have some water. Instead of simply providing it or explaining when it would be available, I received a sarcastic response, and my son was not given any water. While the scenery and destination are beautiful, the customer service and handling of these situations left much to be desired. Better communication, adherence to the published schedule, and more respectful interactions with guests would have made for a much better experience.

It is a once and a life time experience and well worth the money you pay to go on the excursion.

From the moment we arrived, the team was welcoming, organized, and enthusiastic. Directions were clear, parking was busy but easy (out of anyone's control), and Brayden greeted everyone immediately upon his return from the previous trip. He was confident, professional, and kept the entire group informed, organized, and comfortable throughout the experience. Once aboard, the captain and his female crew member, Brayden and Carlo made sure everyone was safely seated, equipped, and ready to go. The captain operated the boat with confidence and precision, making us feel safe the entire time. I'm someone who gets sea sick very easily, but the trip and a quick 3 min ride out. He positioned the boat quickly and we were in the water within a couple of minutes. In the water Brayden and Carlo constantly communicated, positioning the float so we could focus entirely on the manta rays instead of worrying about other groups or drifting. Brayden was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing facts about the mantas, calling out their names and pointing them out as they approached, and making sure everyone had the best possible view. We never had to think about anything except enjoying the experience with our family. Getting back on the boat and returning to the dock was just as seamless. Within moments of tying up, our shoes were lined up waiting for us, and we were on our way. This is a first-class operation with an exceptional crew. We couldn't recommend Dolphin Discoveries more highly and will absolutely book with them again the next time we're on the Big Island!

We went out twice with Kona Style and had fantastic experiences both times…read more The morning sail and snorkel was beautiful and relaxing -- we saw lovely views of the coast, lots of fish (including flying fish as we sailed to the bay), urchins, and even some dolphins. While we didn't partake in the breakfast fruit or mini muffins on board, the pre-departure coffee was welcome and yummy. On the return, we greatly appreciated and enjoyed our boxed lunches (the salad was particularly great!). We had the option for complimentary light drinks or to purchase cocktails but just drank our water. Then we did the really late night manta snorkel, which was intense but truly awesome -- the mantas came within inches of our faces repeatedly, and we were often surrounded by a school of decently sized fish. Because everyone in the group is lined up along the same lighted board, you're very close to your neighbors, but the sea life is so majestic that you barely notice anything above the water. Cocktails available for purchase on the way there, and complimentary hot cocoa on the way back. We had the same competent and professional, yet friendly, crew for both outings. They prioritized both safety and comfort. We had plenty of time in the water. Boat was clean and well-stocked (including the bathroom and when my daughter needed a band-aid). They played fun music. Masks fit us well and didn't fog up. Other provided gear included noodles to make floating easier, reef safe sunscreen for the day snorkel, and wetsuit tops for the night snorkel. Highly recommend, would love to do again.

But despite not seeing any Mantas that night, our experience was awesome due to the fantastic crew lead by Captain Jaq. Kona Style was so nice to offer a redo at no charge on another day since we didn't get to see any Manta's. Since we were leaving the next day to go back home, they told us that they will give us a credit next time we come back and it does not expire! Good thing for us, we already have our next trip planned back to Kona for next May 2027! See you then, Kona Style! Mahalo!
