Perfect and friendly. Dropped off at hotel and picked up. Couldn't be happier and LOVED the board I rented. Thank you so much!

Dan even came back and switched out an 8'6" for the 7'6" I'd reserved (too short for thigh-high south swell).

Well the simple answer is because we're all looking for something new and different to do once in a while with family and friends. And that exactly why we ended up at Wai Kai. It was a chance to hang out with our kids and friends before they returned to school after the winter break. The obstacle course was a ton of fun, we took advantage of the other water activities too, and we also opted to get a couple cabanas too so we could all hang out. It was perfect for our group of 20. Some of the restaurants were closed the day we went, but the takeout food at The Lookout was delicious. We also enjoyed some cold beverages too. BTW, the Nalo Lounge is a great option for $25/person if you want to store your belonging and take a shower before heading to your ext destination. For local families, take advantage of the kamaaina rates. The family is already excited about going back when the kids are back home this summer.

My daughter wanted to come to the obstacle course with her friends. We showed up at 4pm on a Friday, they said the girls can't swim because they close at 430pm. We decided to come back at 1:30pm the next day to arrive and be told the entire place is booked for a private event. Don't waste your time. Go beach.

The customer service I experience from registering and setting our visit up over the phone was excellent. Registered for Kama'aina and was given the Memorial Day Buy 2 explorer passes get 1 free! Even more so worth the trip. My only gripe is the surfing experience is EXPENSIVE. As much as I would love for my family and I to get on there. It's just such a rip off for our entire family to take part. They have a good variety of food and drinks offered - way better than the water park. Prices are also reasonable - as expected but not outrageous. The bathrooms are nice and clean. They offer locker rental for $10 with a $5 refund upon returning of the keys. They also have a more "luxury" locker room experience for $20. But you don't need it; they offer showers and changing tents outside, on the side of the coffee bar. Good idea to go before they open the course at 10am so you can check in and snag a good seating area for your group. Our items and wagon were safe even when we were all in he water. The only thing for us is the water...as locals we are not a fan of the fresh water experience. I haven't stopped thinking about how it's treated if so...And my son didn't care much about it while we were there, but once we left he said he didn't wanna go back or have his party there anymore because he thinks the water is dirty. There is fish in there, from small ones too you can see; to some bigger ones out when you do some exploring.

I can't believe this is the first time I've come here. I had no idea. It offered more than the surf…read morewave machine. I will be coming back with my whole family. They offer the Water jungle Jam $60 per person for the whole day. They have different times per week so check on that before you come. They have a couple different restaurants and bars that you can sit at and watch your kids if you're not joining in. You can pay for lounge chairs and cabanas. I was just there for an hour for lunch and to watch some kiddos. But I will be back with my whole family.

We reached out via text, and Mickey responded promptly the same day. Although he was not available for our session, we had the opportunity to observe him teaching two children, likely around 8-9 years old, and were very impressed. Both kids were confidently riding their own surfboards, and Mickey filmed their entire session--creating what appeared to be incredible footage while still delivering an engaging and supportive lesson. Based on what we observed, he clearly provides a memorable and high-quality experience. We look forward to having our own children take lessons with him in the future.

I wanted my two kids to have semi private lessons but all the other schools required kids to be over 13 for semi private lessons. We texted back and forth a few times before we settled on a date and time that worked for everyone. It was a busy week since we were there Thanksgiving week. We paid via PayPal and met on Waikiki beach. He was a bit late since he had trouble finding parking. Mickey had the kids practice some moves on land and wax the boards before paddling out. 90 minutes for $100 each student plus $30 for videos. He paddled them forward with the waves and told them when to stand. The kids had a blast. The videos from his go pro were amazing! A totally rad experience that the kids will remember forever. Mickey was great with the kids. He is super friendly and sang a bunch of songs to them. We highly recommend him. Be sure your kid is comfortable in the water and knows how to swim well. You can find him right behind the famous Surfer statute on Waikiki beach with the colorful umbrella. Fun fact- he taught the k pop group Twice to surf and met Ronny Cheng and Simu. Super

After some research, we found Kalani Surf School, and appreciated that they were based on the west side and offered private lessons. So glad we had our first official surf lessons with Kealii!! Upon meeting Kealii, he was so friendly and welcoming and really put us at ease. He showed us some of the basics in the sand, then got us out in the water. We felt so prepared and equipped with the right skills when we got out there! The thrill of riding those waves all the way into shore still puts a smile on my face! We're even trying to fit in some more lessons before we move! In general- Kealii is such an incredible instructor, and really gives you his undivided attention through these private lessons. I can't imagine trying to learn these surf skills with a large group! My best friend and I were corrected on our form when needed, and felt like the movements were almost second nature by the end of the lesson! Thank you Kealii and Kalani Surf School for making our surf dreams come true! Be back soon

I was the oldest in the group (including my kids) and Coach and Ryan were super attentive and ensured that I didn't get hurt and enjoyed myself. Helped me with available times, getting…read morethe lesson booked and getting the payment paid, all in a time-sensitive way since I arrived in Oahu on Monday, was staying the week, but hadn't made advance bookings. Emily made sure all my questions were answered, advising what to wear (I asked), and what to bring to the beach, versus leave up at the shop. Amazing!! Some downsides: it's a BIG group! Even though we got semi-private lesson (1 instructor for the 2 of us), you're still taking the lesson amidst the rest of the "school"(...which for us, was 2 school buses filled with students. Maybe 25 people?) You're then all having your lesson in the same area of water, so imagine 30 beginners all on surf boards confined to a limited area on the water. I didn't love this part. You're assigned an instructor (and each of course has his/her own personality). The instructors were all great: coaching you through the positions, picking the waves for you, pushing you off into them to gather speed, and calling out when to "paddle" then "up". But each instructor inherently comes with a personality and if you get a less aggressive one, you might end up waiting for all the other students to get their turn before you get to go. Then (this part was unexpected)...you have to win all the way across, to get out of the "surf lane" of all 25 beginner surfers, before you can win back out to get in line for your next try. It was a lot of swimming for not a lot of surf trials which really tires you out. By 5 runs, I'd had enough. I have had one lesson before (which I absolutely LOVED!!) but it wasn't as part of a big school, it was just me, and one other student, and the instructor. And there was no 25-50 ft "surf lane" that you had to swim across after each attempt to get out of the way of the other students. this extra swimming ate into a lot of surfing time I think. Anyway, good experience, but I wouldn't do it again in this way. Actually, I'm not even sure I'd do it again at all. I ended up buying the photo footage because I'm so sure I'm off surfing now...so might as well buy the photos, as I'll probably never do it again. That's not how I felt after my 1st experience a few years ago in a different format.
