Our family has taken surf lessons with multiple instructors and have found WOSUP to be the best thus far. Maui Mike was our instructor for two days and we all cane away from out time with him feeling much more confident in our abilities. Mikey runs the shop and is very easy to work with. He is also an excellent photographer when needed! If you are on the West side of the island and don't care to venture to Waikiki for the usual crowded lesson, I highly recommend Mike and Mike at West Oahu SUP and Surf.

From Horseback riding among the mountains to swimming with the colorful fishes of the Pacific ocean, these guys have you taken care of! It's an absolute must when you stay in O'ahu! We had a great time on our horseback riding and snorkeling tour with West O'ahu SUP. We had a fantastic time riding along the mountain side with a coastal view. Followed by a trip down to the beach where we got some snorkel gear and lots of time to explore the clear waters where we saw countless fish and coral reef below. I highly recommend taking the day to enjoy the true beauty of Hawaii!

We rented 2 tandem kayaks. From beginning to end we were very pleased with their prices and their customer service. The crew helped us load the kayaks and ensured we were good to go until they saw us out of their parking lot. We ran into some delays in getting their kayaks back before closing time. We underestimated some strong current when we were paddling back and it really really slowed us down. We called the owner, who was very cool about it. I think he lives right down the street from the shop, so he met us there just to open and get his kayaks checked back in. He helped us unload the kayaks and was very cool about the 30-45 min late return and didn't have a worry in the world about it. No late charge or anything for him having to take the time to come from home just to check us back in. I've been charged $50 for a 20 minute late kayak return before (Twogood Kayaks in Kailua) and I have to say west Oahu SUP really was cool and understanding about that. Their kindness and understanding will result in return business from me. If you have any excursions, kayak rentals, gear purchases on the West side of Oahu, I recommend stopping in to West Oahu SUP. These guys will take care of you. Mahalo for the great customer service guys!!

One of the best experiences of my life! We waited until the last day to stand up paddle board because we were so scared! After meeting our instructor, Chante, fear went out the window! She was so patient and encouraging! We were given mini lessons before going into the water. From holding the paddles to how to fall into the water to how to stand on the boards, her instructions were spot on! Yes, we did fall in! (Scary and fun) Yes, she was able to get all of us back on the boards effortlessly! (She's very strong) With Chante cheering us on, we were standing up and sitting down on those boards with less help by the end of the session. I have never felt more safe at the beach! It was amazing! We are planning to return soon and will be contacting West Oahu Sup for more adventures! PS. Please forgive me if I've spelled the instructor's name wrong! PSS. Updated to correct spelling of instructor's name.

Everything you are promised: they deliver. Great instructors, super kind and friendly guys and the owner... Great guy. Accommodating and just "Hawaii nice" From the van ride in we were treated to "Real Hawaii" the hotel instructors were real jerks...it was a job. Here, you are taught by surfers that truly want you to learn and fall in love with the sport. You are encouraged and helped every wave, all day. It's a bit off the beaten path... But this is real Hawaii. These are real surfers. This is family. These are new friends. This is the way it should be. They don't advertise or make a big deal... What they do, is deliver a perfect day. I really can't say enough kind words for them.... Just trust them. They will get you riding on that first wave. Mahalo!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A great day surfing with the kids. Definitely a stop when you are on Oahu!

The absolute highlight of our vacation!!! Me and three girlfriends came here to try surfing for the first time. We called in advance to make reservations. When we arrived we were given long sleeve coverups, took our belongings and walked down to the beach which wasn't far. The beach they used wasn't crowded and was being used by beginners and experts and the waves were good for late April. We got a warm up and a run through of how to pop up on our boards, then off we went into the water. Quick and effective learning style and the instructors were confident and great overall guides. By the end of the two hours, all three of us were able to stand on our boards and ride to the beach. Not to mention I had a beyond good time talking to our instructors and getting to know them. PS. The soreness in my arms the next day proves how much fun I had!

If you're visiting Oahu and looking for an outdoor adventure, this is it! Here's what you need to know: 1. The guys that run the kayak tour, are awesome. They embody the Island spirit and couldn't have been more welcoming and entertaining. 2. You're going to have a great time. It's not for the faint of heart, or those that don't have stamina - you're on the water for a solid hour and a half... But youll love it. You're taken out in the middle of the ocean, and it's you and this small group kayaking around... You'll feel like the ocean is yours, and that's amazing to experience. 3. Bring a waterproof camera. 4. Buy the waterproof pouch sold at the shop. (it's $20, but so worth it and now you'll have it for the rest of your vacation) 5. Dolphins are scared off by swells - so you may not see them if the water is choppy. 6. Choppy water = may get sea sick 7. The location is right across the street from the 7 eleven. It's in a shopping center with By Submission fitness... Blink and you'll miss. I highly recommend this tour as a must for anyone visiting Oahu. Now that I'm back on the mainland, and talking about my vacation, I find that this is the one thing I keep telling people about.

I can't speak to the actual surfing lessons, but we had a bad experience as well. We booked a 9:00 am lesson, and our confirmation said to arrive at 8:30. We did, and arrived to find a dilapidated, abandoned looking storefront with barred-up windows, a chain link fence surrounding the whole property, overgrown weeds, and nobody there. We called and were told Roger would be there in 10 minutes. 45 minutes later, after our 9:00 start time had come and gone, we were just not comfortable and left. I have used guide services all over the country and I've never seen one so unprofessional looking; the store was frankly scary. Anybody booking should know what to expect.

We started at 6am and the morning was a tranquil visit to all the animals in the ocean. Our guides were Connor and Bethany, and they are knowledgeable naturalists and wonderful guides who took good care of us inside and outside of the water. Captain Kim knew we were birders and wanted to take photos of the shearwaters, boobys, and albatrosses and she always positioned the boat while giving us the best and most stable view for photography, while maintaining a respectful distance to the animals to avoid stressing them. We went out to Ka'ena point and had a great view of the Laysan albatross colony. There is truly nothing like having an albatross fly overhead. Along the way, we saw spotted dolphins actively feeding and playing, and also saw spinner dolphins! Seeing the monk seal lounging on the beach was a bonus. The wedge tail shearwaters had just returned so they were busy on the water. We also found masked boobys and brown booby feeding. We also saw turtles at their cleaning station! Connor and Bethany were knowledgeable about the landscape and the ecology and shared wonderful information. They are genuinely the nicest people! Highly recommended. The boat is comfortable and we were taking care of by the team (beverages, snacks, fruits, pastries). Thank you!

We went out with 3 different boat charter companies during our time in Oahu and this was by far the absolute best. The west side is so much calmer than the other sides of the island and we got to see and do so much! We swam with spotted eagle rays, turtles, spotted dolphins, and got to see lots of living coral reef. We located and sent in coordinates for a "ghost net" that was too big for us to bring on board so that it could be collected to make sure that it didn't harm any creatures. Their ethics are so spot on - before we left the debris they used the gopro to make sure that there wasn't anything actively entangled. In deeper water we saw false killer whales - tons of them - and spent time watching them and learning about their behaviors. While another boat sent their crew in with them, we did not send anyone into the water with them and there was definitely a change in their behavior when people were in the water with them. We felt like we were part of marine biology on the island while also getting once in a lifetime experiences and photos. The photos are so amazing - definitely worth it to purchase! I can't imagine us going back to Oahu and not doing this again. Obviously the ocean is going to be different every time, but Wild Side's team was just so wonderful and we learned so much. Highly highly recommend!

We have snorkled many times, but they gave us very good instructions on how to put on equipment. I appreciated the anti-fog spritz which we have never gotten on any other snorkel tour. They also had lots of good snacks (chips, fruit, drinks, spam musubi), and even a bucket of fresh water for a post-snorkel shower! The sandbar was incredible. We lucked out with perfect wind, water, and sky conditions, which made the whole trip incredible. The ride out was 10-15 min? Getting into the water was easy. Water was great! Though there weren't many, we did manage to dive next to a Galapagos shark, a jellyfish, turtle, and eagle ray (this guy was in port tho). Lilly and the entire team were so helpful and accommodating the whole time. They were fantastic about answering all of our questions and really made the process of getting in and out of the boat less stressful. I will say: you will need to have decent strength to hoist yourself out of the water from a small solo step on the boat (they help but keep in mind for my fellow limited bodied folks). On windier conditions, you will have to be a decent swimmer, too. So those not familiar with the ocean, practice at like Waikiki or hanauma bay first. We had someone swallow water on our boat and we had calmer conditions, too. I honestly wish we could have been in the water for longer, but I'm just looking at it as a great excuse to book another trip and head out again! My favorite part was actually the ride back in: the crew picked up some speed and took some fun turns, which I really enjoyed. Everything was set up to be convenient, too. They provided all the snorkel gear, including flippers and masks, and there is a cubby under the seat to keep your items safe, dry, and out of the way. Parking is readily available, so you don't have to worry about that. Just a heads up on the media side of things: they do offer professional photo packages, which run about $80 to $100. You are allowed to bring your own GoPro, but they are pretty specific about which models you can bring due to concerns about radio wave interference, so it's worth double-checking with them beforehand. Overall, it was a fantastic day out on the water with a good crew.
