The quality of food gets a 5/5 stars as well as value. This place gives plates with rice and mac for $8. I like to order the dang hot chicken, level medium. The sauce is very good and thick. One time I ordered the spicy and the flavor was not quite right and the sauce was nearly black! Made a note to myself to stick with medium from then on. The Mac salad is very simple, just the Mac and pepper. No extra veggies. A side order is $2.50 and it comes with a lot. The environment is 4/5 so I prefer taking it to-go. There is ample seating and the place is not usually busy. Parking is super easy. read more

I stopped by this weekend and ordered beef Yakisoba and it was one of the worst food orders I have ever received. The proportions have dropped in size compared to how they used to be. There was not one piece of beef larger that a nickel, it was very dry and you had to search trough the noodles just to find a piece. The noodles were not cooked all the way through. There was puddles of sauce all over the bottom of the container like it would stick to the food. The flavor was way off and the table I was sitting at was so sticky and dirty I didn't want to touch it. Thankfully I ordered to go so I only had to sit there for a couple of minutes. I am sorry but this neighbor hood gem is no more and I am never going back again. So sad! read more

Food, food and more food. You are not leaving the Hawaiian Grill with an empty stomach. Not gonna happen here. Previous reviews have informed you of this, I'm just reinforcing it. For the most part, Hillsboro is another world to me. Until today, I'd never been out this far on the train. And once you stray from Main street, things are a bit dicey but I was just doing a little urban hiking in unfamiliar territory. Hawaiian Grill doesn't appear to be much from the outside but the food inside is pretty good even if the rap and Green Day posters don't make much sense. The menu is extensive and has the usual Hawaiian standards like Katsu, loco moco and spam musubi. Plenty of chicken, pork, beef and even tofu dishes. I went traditional with kalua pig and cabbage. Kalua pig is not really spiced at all. The slow roasted pork is the star. This was extremely tender and the cabbage was more of a texture than anything else. It was a over a bed of rice and with the sauce they gave me sewed it all up and I had a very enjoyable meal. I have no idea when I'll make it back out here, but to the Hillsboro crowd the Hawaiian Grill is a great substitute for L & L since I'm not sure one is out this far. The food came out super fast. I had to mask it by drenching it with their teriyaki sauce. They also chop it up and mix it with cabbage, which I didn't like at all. But I did really enjoy the garlic infused macaroni. read more

We have tried several times over 16 years of living in the area to eat here. We've not been impressed in the past with the food or service and last night was no different. Staff was rude and not willing to appease the customer even though I was willing to pay for the the items. Food is just nasty! This is the strangest looking place inside and out but oh man is the food great! Affordable too. Great place for any lunch date. My man is from Hillsboro and always told me this was THE place to get Hawaiian, and that they have the best mac salad (can't speak for that, as I really dislike mac salad). And since he took me here the first time, it's our go-to place every single time we visit the fam! The last couple times I've gotten the yakisoba/curry which I know sounds super weird and gross, but honestly yakisoba and curry together is the most delicious thing ever I swear. Their teriyaki beef is so so good, too. The teriyaki sauce is just... holy shit. Fantastic. We always ask for extra sauce. I enjoy how they have their menu set up, with pictures of everything on the wall. The guy who is always at the counter (I'm assuming he's the owner) is pretty cool. I missed my L&L, and this is its replacement. The service is quite nonchalant and slow, but the portions are insane and the food is delicious. The salmon isn't that frozen in a bag crap - it's a nice cut of fish. The pineapple chicken is to die for. The coconut shrimp is tasty. I drive by the place on daily basis and would not have even noticed it if not for Yelp. So that says a lot about the outside, not that I'm one to judge a book by it's cover (unless it's 50 Shade of Grey and then JUDGE AWA). It's very sparsely decorated inside and the menu has scribbles/lines/white spots all over it. It's not about looks though, it's about the food! Igot myself the chicken shoyu meal, waited about 6-7 minutes and was out the door with my meal. The portion was very reasonable (lots of food like people say below me). I'm more used to shoyu shredded up, and I was greeted with hunks of chicken to be cut apart. Oh well. The shoyu itself was just...too sweet! I know, it's supposed to be sweet but this was just too much for even myself. The mac salad was meh, not bad nor good. I'll give this place another try since people enjoy the teriyaki but Roxy's owns me for any time I want some shoyu. read more

Aloha i meaai! We've come here a couple of times & the food has been very consistent each time. It's not really very (North Shore Shrimp Truck) authentic but still a pretty good substitute. My main criticism is when Roman makes a 'Dang Spicy' dish the chile really overpowers the subtle flavours of the Shrimp, Chicken, or even the Beef. If I could give zero stars, I would. Wow. I'm shocked at how terrible it was. I wanted to give it a chance even after reading the other bad reviews. I regret that choice. I had the Katsu Plate. "Mac Salad" was nothing but watery noodles with a ridiculous amount of pepper. Chicken was soggy and left my mouth coated with an oddly greasy feeling. There's definitely better Hawaiian food at other establishments. I'm giving it one star for two reasons. The first reason is the food. Not good. I've tried multiple plates at this place and both were only maybe worth half a a star. Reason two for the one star is because of the employee that helped me. I asked a few questions about the different choices that were offered and he said the same thing twice. "What I have is on the pictures". He pointed to the wall with all the different choices. When I asked a second question I got the same answer. I was told this place was good by customers who go their three times a week. I will not be going back. It was a one-man show, and he was busy. -- Fine, Oregon is on fire with smoke everywhere, and we are in a pandemic. Slower service won't kill us. On to the food -- The curry katsu did not come with curry. So his dish was dry and sad. I didn't care to try. Spicy chicken looks sloppy. More sauce than rice. It looked like someone poured a whole tub of ketchup on top. Rice is fine. No veggies, and mac salad is a bit soggy and flavorless. Sauce/chicken tastes okay -- but leaves you with onion breath.
