I searched bahn mi near me and Street Food Vietnamese (Food cart) popped up. I saw that they had high reviews so i gave it a try. I love bahn mi & eat them regularly. Everytime I've had an authentic bahn mi it is made up of: soft french baguette, meat, fresh pickled vegetables, jalapeño, cilantro & pate (sometimes). I did not experience that. The baguette bread was good and the meat was ok but everything else was not ok. It had grilled onions, radish & carrots. And it was drenched in hoisen sauce, to the point that I could only eat half of the sandwich. If you're looking for an authentic fresh bahn mi go to Best Baguette. I hate to leave a negative review and I really hope their other food is delicious but please improve your bahn mi or don't call it a bahn mi. read more

The sauce is very light and the noodles are thin and chewy. The meat is always cooked just right BUT my absolute favorite is the Luc Lac beef. We liked the flavors of our food and the presentation was nice as well. The beef was sooo tender which we loved! Our plates came with lots of vegetables which made us satisfied. Our only complaint is the rice because it was dry and hard. It seemed like it was day old rice. They also offer wonton chips and sweet and sour sauce while waiting for your meal. We arrived at 6pm on a cold Saturday night in December and were greeted promptly upon entering. There was only one other table seated in the restaurant when we arrived so we almost had the place to ourselves. And while we waited for our food the staff was fulfilling several to go orders, which gave me a strong sense that our meal was about to be good. We chose a two-top by the window and ordered soon after: crispy egg rolls, wonton soup, beef pho and the airport chicken. Because we ordered so much food, we decided to move to a 4-top nearby, lol. Service was excellent, outstanding actually. Each member of the staff greeted us and asked us how the food was. And the food was incredible. The crispy egg rolls were just that, crispy with tangy dipping sauce. The airport chicken was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender inside. My husband enjoyed the beef pho while I ate the won ton soup which was super filling because it also has noodles and tons of veggies. Each item had great flavor and was a hearty portion size. By the end of the meal I was totally stuffed but still managed to order a Thai iced tea with boba, to go. :) I'll happily return. read more

Probably the best fried rice I've ever had, so delicate but flavorful. Who I assume is the owner or at least the cook chatted with me for a bit and was extremely friendly. When I said it was the best fried rice I have had, he said that he cooks for his customers like he does his wife, and I could taste it. Service was quick and had great suggestions. I'm newer to the Portland area and I am a picky eater when it comes to Vietnamese food, having grown up with Viet food! First, it really does smell like a cozy Vietnamese restaurant when you come in. The waitress was quiet and kind. David, I assume the owner, was great conversation and we talked a bit about Vietnam and the opening of the restaurant. It just felt like family! The crispy egg rolls were really great! I feel like it's so rare to get jicama but it's so good. They had the perfect amount of meat to veggies ratio. I ordered the beef pho. I just got home from a work trip and was craving pho in this increasingly cold October weather. So I ordered takeout. The veggie pho (in chicken broth) was $16 and tasteless. I've never had bad pho ever and today was the first. It not only lacked flavor, it also lacked veggies. Of the handful of veggies, they were overcooked. They didn't include sprouts, basil, lime--all the fixings. I love dressing my pho up and they neglected to included it. We also ordered orange chicken and udon noodles. The chicken looked delicious but tasted just ok. The noodles had a good taste--no complaints there. At first I was looking for a place that had traditional chowmein but the only place nearby, other than chopstix is china wok and that place is absolutely awful. The stir fry was amazing. The noodles were moist but not mushy, and the veggies were all super colorful, no wilting, whatsoever and the chicken was mostly all white chicken breast meat. On top of that, the saltiness was perfect and not overdone, like most chinese food places. My only thing is that if you are craving absolutely traditional chinese food, I don't know how much this place will cost calm that craving because it is more like a fusion restaurant. I had one of the options of rice, I believe it was the shrimp and pork rice, and it was the best rice I've ever had! It was also really calm and the atmosphere was nice. The beef/shrimp spring roll appetizer was really fresh and crunchy and complimented very well by the peanut sauce; likewise the spicy wings were mouth watering with the perfect amount of spice. I was really looking forward to authentic Thai food in Hillsboro without having to drive to Portland but unfortunately, Chopstix was largely disappointing. Egg rolls were obviously pre-packaged and fried frozen, rendering the inside vegetables soggy and tasteless. Their vegetable Pad Thai was bland and either skimping or missing altogether many key ingredients such as Tamarind pulp. There was less than a thimble full of peanut crumbs on the side, with very few veggies other than broccoli. It was mostly just rice noodles that were somewhat tough and rubbery. My wife had the tofu Pad Thai, which came with pre-packaged, frozen, fried tofu. Everything was very salty except the dipping sauces, which were basically 100% sugar. Service was good but they do not accept payment at the table. All things considered, I would expect their prices to be much lower than authentic Thai Restaurants that use fresh ingredients and make everything in house, but that was not the case. Two orders of Pad Thai, one order of egg rolls and tip came to almost $50. So it's back to driving to Portland for authentic Thai food. read more

Whenever I use Grubhub on Yelp, I choose to have the food delivered. If I want to order take out, I go directly to the restaurant and place my order there. I've used Grubhub for delivery many times with mostly good results. Today for some reason, my Grubhub delivery order got changed to pick up. When I noticed this I called Grubhub Support to ask for delivery. After several call backs going round and round about the situation, the gentleman from Grubhub told me that he could not have my food delivered cuz that's thru Yelp. Huh? I thought Grubhub's business was delivery. Why else would I order thru Grubhub? After calling the restaurant myself directly a few times about what was happening, a wonderful employee at Chopstix Grill agreed to deliver my food! That is amazing service above and beyond the expected! I ordered yellow curry with tofu, pad Thai with tofu and Yakisoba with tofu. Everything was very tasty and arrived nicely packaged. The employees are nice. The restaurant has a few tables for dine in. It isnt big or fancy. Prices are a bit expensive. Spring rolls are large with dark green lettuce, the protein, etc. wrapped in a thin rice noodle wrap, served with peanut sauce. Maybe these are Thai or Vietnamese style spring rolls? I liked them, but my kid didnt. Chicken teriyaki comes with the more typical kind of spring roll. The chicken appeared to be cooked in sauce, but there wasnt any extra to spread to the rice. Vitality bowl is served very cold, ice still clinging to the fruit. I didnt taste the peanut butter in my peanut butter bowl. I wouldn't order a vitality bowl again unless it was summer. At least the employees gave extra sauce and peanut butter when we asked for it. read more

And after chatting with the owners David and Lindsey, they pointed out the importance of using the right ingredients. "You've got to have fresh ingredients to present great tasting dishes." That's basically what David said. Here's just a few entrées I've enjoyed, and still enjoy: ~ Green Papaya Shrimp Salad ($10.99) - This is always a refreshing dish. I've ordered this a few times. I'm a 'not too spicy' fan too, and there's is not. So two thumbs up! ~ Pad Thai ($14.99 w/ chicken) - My Thai food test! They make a good pad thai and passed! Can't mess that up or I'll never return lol. ~ Beef Pho ($15.99 combo) - Another one of my regular take-out choices! Their dine-in bowls are pretty huge too. The broth is just about perfect! Not overly salty. ~ Luc Lac Beef ($17.99) - If you've never been here, then try this dish. Seems to be a fan favorite. Its an enjoyable dish with flavor. ~ Chicken Pho ($13.99) - The lighter broth pho choice, but also a really good one. Especially on a cold day. They add large chicken breast slices. ~ Shrimp Pork Fried Rice ($14.99) - Ugh-mazing!!! This one, I can eat all by myself! I don't share! Mine all mine! Every pork piece and shrimp piece is mine! If I have leftovers, I'll scramble an egg in the mornin' and have it for breakfast. ~ Crispy Egg Rolls ($9.99) - Tasty! They're egg rolls that crunch just right. What more can I say lol. ~ Banh Mi ($8.99) - Pretty soft bun fun, sorta. Honestly, banh mi's just aren't my thing, sorry! The wifey loves it though. ~ Grilled Korean Short Ribs ($15.99) - Inflation inflation, I'm seeing this less on other restaurants' menu. I usually order these when I have leftover rice at home. They marinade and grill it good here! ~ Wonton Noodle Soup ($14.99) - Ah, another fav! This one fills me up every time that its so worth it! The dumplings are fairly firm and the insides were savory! The broth too was just right with saltiness level, but overall, very yum! As you can tell, I've only tried about two-thirds of what is on the menu lol. But for the most part, they keep their menu short and simple to choose from. If you dine in, the pictures on the monitor will help you decide on what to order. I feel some dishes are above average in prices, but with the variety of Thai, to Chinese, to Vietnamese food to choose from, its well worth it! Also keep in mind, this place is a small restaurant, with only about nine tables. So its not really a first date kind of place, or you can make it a good first date place. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, I felt very welcomed and treated with kindness. Tucked to the side of Albertsons, the location had plenty of parking. The interior looked well kept and clean, the decor was also pleasant to look at while waiting for the food. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, banh mi with BBQ pork and Vietnamese ham, and a Strawbana açaí bowl. The Vietnamese coffee had a strong brew that is paired with condensed milk and ice - very authentic and refreshing. The banh mi was a little pricey when compared to larger chain restaurants but the taste and quality ingredients justifies it. I could tell the owner cares about the dishes and using only the best ingredients. The slices of meat in the banh mi had generous cuts, vegetables were nicely pickled, and bread was toasty yet fluffy. The combination of flavors was perfect, not overly salty and very fresh. The strawbana açaí bowl came out a little later, which was a bummer because I was getting full from the appetizer and banh mi. I should have put a request to have it served first but that was my mistake. The presentation and taste of the bowl was great, the only thing I would have changed were the blueberries - they were a little frozen so my teeth felt a little sensitive afterwards. Overall, a great experience and will definitely be back to try the other dishes here.
