However, I have noticed some safety and maintenance issues lately that hold it back from being a perfect 5-star experience. My main concern is safety regarding motorized vehicles. I frequently see local teens and kids--sometimes even elementary-aged children accompanied by their parents--riding gas-powered mini bikes or loud electric dirt bikes directly on the sports fields and paved walking paths. It is unclear whether there are explicit rules prohibiting these vehicles in the park, but no one is around to monitor the situation, and it honestly feels dangerous for pedestrians, field users, and anyone on the paved paths. Additionally, while the park is well-maintained overall, certain small details need closer attention. Specifically, some of the water fountains are poorly adjusted--either barely trickling or spraying water in every direction. It's a fantastic park overall, but better patrolling, clearer safety regulations, and quicker equipment maintenance are definitely needed to keep everyone safe. 4 out of 5 stars.

this is a nice park in san carlos and i can't believe i hadn't been here til last week! a friend…read moreand i were going to catch up over a lunchtime stroll and she chose to meet here. it was super easy finding this park, and there is a parking lot right by the tennis courts, and tons more parking along the street. other amenities include baseball diamond, large grassy areas suitable for picnics, soccer, frisbee, circular running track (about 1/4mi perimeter), children's playground and restrooms. south entrance is by the tennis courts and north entrance is acccessible via elston court, look for a narrow footpath that leads to the stadium field. since we came during lunch, it was rather quiet, not too many folks here, so we had a nice quiet walk around the park, several loops actually. highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a quiet, clean park away from the hustle and bustle!

The entrance is barely noticeable from the road and the two back ways in are tucked in a neighborhood or behind a business' parking lot. Along with the two gated playgrounds, Laureola Park has open grassy space, a ball field, a basketball court, a handball wall, picnic areas, a community center with a lovely mural on it's double doors and a splash pad. The taller of the two playgrounds has a two-story structure with steps, ladders, two slides (a long sidewinder and a short bumpy), an angled climbing wall, and activities. The taller slide is only accessible via ladder. There is a small picnic bench inside the gate and very close to the structure. This gated area also has a swing set with standard and chair swings. The flooring was super squishy and I loved the little silhouettes of woodland creatures and acorns found throughout. The other gated playground is adjacent to the first and there is an entryway from the first. The second is geared more towards smaller kids, but the different balancing and climbing elements makes it fun for all! There is a small boudler with an attached slide, a hut, a balance beam, and a play structure. The play structure has a double slide, arch ladder, angled rock wall, a disc ladder, and activities. The style balance beam at this playground is so unique! I've never seen another like it. It's called a Ripple and when you walk on it it feels like you're walking on ripples of water! There is a swing set with bucket-only swings and a picnic bench. Exiting via the big playground or through a separate gate will get you to the picnic area with bbq. There is a restroom with a water bottle fill station! Easy street parking on Bayport Ct or Bayport Ave. In the parking lot off of Old Country Rd behind Heating Supply Company. If you come hungry there's a Mexican spot nearby called El Maguey and although we didn't eat there it smelled so good and looked pretty busy! Added fun! Get here by Caltrain. The San Carlos stop is steps away!

You're fully fenced in so I don't need to worry about my child running into traffic or straying too far. 5. You're close to coffee and food shops. 6. You're great for birthday parties, with tons of space and tables! Whether you're a parent of a human child or a dog child, this park is fantastic. Another time a group of park loiterers (may or may not be homeless) stared at me while I tried to exercise her. A different time, some guy suddenly came up and started talking to me, showing pics of his dogs while I tried to walk away. Then I discovered my dog had stepped in some tar while the guy was distracting me... that was fun trying to remove from her paws. -___- So yeah, I didn't have good experiences here. Too bad, cuz the school/kid area is nice, but there are too many shady characters hanging around and cars drive too fast in the parking lot.
