Seen this place for years as I drive past. Decided to stop in for some BBQ before our Neil Young concert in Gilford. We were sad to see the menu was not Really a BBQ meal we were hoping for. We received our 2 hamburger bun sandwiches 20 minutes later. I had the cowboy sloppy Joe and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich. My sandwich was soooooo frickin salty And my husbands sandwich had no taste at all that he saturated it with hot sauce. By the time I got to the concert I had a screaming headache and by the end I was puking my brains out. Either I got food poisoning or there was obviously waaaaay too much MSG. Anyways, what I thought was going to be a great night at the concert turned out to be terrible. Will NOT go back and disappointed. The menu was slapped onto a hand written piece of paper. unreasonably rude, abrasive, condescending, staff! I came in to town to work an event and fully understand when it's the end of the night you just don't have it in you to deal with people but this crew was something else. All week i got to meet locals and ask them where to go on Saturday night when I finally finish this long work week and everyone told me not to go here. Expensive for food that is frozen. $12.99 for potato skins with chili. Frozen skins and chili that tasted like it was from a can. Onion rings frozen. All over cooked. The sausage sub was ok. Stopped here on an early Sunday afternoon for a quick beer. Very cool place. Yes, its a biker bar but all seemed welcome. Hawg's Pen is located on Route 11 and although heavily traveled, we found it easy to get in and out of. Building is on its own lot with a large paved parking area and plenty of rooms for bikes. We arrived around 12:30pm. Apparently, we had just missed a weekly Prime Rib Sunday Breakfast...next time. Menu looks good, subs, sandwiches and salads, all for under $10. Was surprisingly busy for an early Sunday afternoon. Stopped at the bar...bartender was super friendly. Beers were under $3.00, plenty cold and refreshing. Looked like a full bar. Outside, a band was playing, several people were eating lunch and others were lined up along the fence watching the bikes ride in and out. Inside there is an eating area with booths, a separate room with two pool tables and high tops with stools. It's very roomy. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Signs all over indicating they will provide free soda and coffee to designated driver or to those who need to sober up a bit. May be the rudest place that I have ever been. Go to park, a young lady comes out to tell me, "Don't hate me, we only allow bike to park in the front lot". "Other vehicles park out back". First of all, this was all to the entertainment of the "pretend" bad boys and ladies? at the outside # smoking area. Secondly, I wouldn't want to outshine the bikes with a new Denali. The food and music and company here is excellent. The food is five star, 13 different types of boneless wings along with either seasoned fries or delicious sweet.potato fries. Now if you want a nice dinner, well you have come to the right place. Just sit down and the beautiful waitresses will bring you soup to desert, enjoy it while listening and watching the dancers move to the awesome music being played by the up and coming bands. This is a great biker bar who makes us city folks feel welcome. Carol is super friendly and the food is good and very reasonably priced. The wings are some of the best I've tried. We just got a Lake house and spend our weekends in Barnstead. The Hawgs Pen is our favorite watering hole. read more

First time I went was about a month ago after this place advertised a band I liked and while 50+ bikes showed up this fool couldn't even be bothered to open up. The second time, last weekend, after also advertising on Facebook with another band I liked about 20+ of us went and they only had two people working. The clown owner is a joke. What fun! This is a great place, a little biker bar dive, where the food is ample and well prepared. I have been here twice for breakfast and loved the experience both times. The waitress is friendly and she gets the orders right. She also makes a mean Bloody Mary, highly recommended. If you can find your way out to this place, it is well worth the trip into rural New Hampshire. You'll have a great time and a great meal. read more

This year was our second time here, the first time we didn't eat just had cocktails. It was in the fall and quite chilly out riding through Maine and New Hampshire. They had a great barrel fire outside in the fenced in area and it was quite warm and welcoming. The décor is pretty cool, especially the twin engine beer tap. They sell Hawg's Pen t-shirts and sweat shirts for a reasonable price. The staff was friendly. This year we stopped again, this time for lunch. Our server as very nice and accommodating. They were out of the prime rib sandwich and I was so disappointed so our server recommended the steak tip sandwich, I AM SOOOO GLAD she did, it was one of the best steak tip sandwiches I have ever had!!!!! The tips were so tender and delicious and the roll was just right, the juice soaked into the roll and it was heavenly!!! Everyone else at our table was very happy with their food, I don't know what anyone else ordered because I was too busy enjoying my awesome sandwich. We will stop by again for sure!!!
