Our first visit and it did NOT disappoint!! I took my sister and brother in law there as we are from out of town and wanted to get a good meal at a good price. And we are going back! The prime rib, homemade moist chicken tenders, tender steak tips and fried haddock were all homruns!! Emily our server was friendly and professional and she was also fast and courteous. Her manager came over to ask how our meal was, which is always nice. His name was Christian. He was funny too. It was a very enjoyable evening and the quality of the food is worth the $$ you pay. Well what can i say, we are regular patrons of this establishment.. tonight was not good.. We ordered a two way combo, clam strips and Sea scallops.. the food was lukewarm and some burnt, some undercooked.. we asked for drawn butter and what we got looked like maybe margarine slightly warm.. so the waitress came over and asked how is everything.. well i explained our dismay about the food.. she got her manager who offered us free dessert..ok we asked for strawberry shortcake.. what we got they should be ashamed of. 1/2 biscuit. say what? our bill was 75.00.. the menu listed out combo for $31. and change when we got the bill the dish was $34 and change.. they said the scallops were market price, however that was not clear on the menu, even the waitress was confused... so my desert pic is below.. it will be sometime before we return.. to bad this place normally had good everything read more

Dropped my kiddo off at his friends for a party. Driving around town wasting time and got hungry. On my way to the hotel noticed Smokey's & Grill and I thought wow I could go for a steak. Pulled my solo butt I to the parking and walked in with a smile proudly saying table for one. The hostess smiled back and said never solo here. She sat me in Kylie's section, which was the best decision. Kylie made my dining experience at Smokey's wonderful. Her bright smile and quick witted humor was just what I needed. I ordered my beer, cosmic brown ale, a water and pretzel poppers for an appetizer. For dinner I had the filet tips with a side salad and red skin mashed potatoes. My meal was perfect. Filet cooked to perfection, buttery soft and full of flavor. Potatoes were rich and creamy and pretzel bites were good, for me, could have used just a tad more cheese. I happily enjoyed my meal and the conversations with the staff who visited me. I highly recommend if you're in the New Hampshire area!!! read more

I've been here several times now, each time hoping for a better food experience than the last, but I'm always left wondering what I'm missing, the place is always packed, so am I just ordering the wrong things? Our last visit was a Tuesday, we showed up at 7:30 (they close at 9), no one seemed interested in seating us, we waited and waited, finally walking across the bar to ask if we should seat ourselves, only to be told that someone would be right with us. We waited some more, finally someone comes to seat us, she looks around and then offers up a table in the side room, we asked if we could sit on the patio and were kind of made to feel as though we were a bother. To the patio we go, it was extremely dimly lit, the patio umbrella being up didn't help. I got the roadhouse burger, bacon, onions, cheese and BBQ sauce, how could it be bad? It was bland, and dry, the bun had that "I've been sitting out all day and someone warmed me up to make me soft again" feeling, the bbq sauce didn't help mask that at all, the fries were well salted and crispy. The beer is cold, but we only got one because our waitress never came to check in on us until we were ready to leave. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it wasn't great, I had fun with my friends and I guess that's what matters most, except, I shelled out almost $25 for a bland burger and a beer. read more

I have come here for years! I have also attended & hosted some private events in their event room which is relatively spacious (surprise birthday parties, bridal shower, etc.). They offer a great variety of "land & sea" choices. There is also an option for a "light fare" for most of their menu items. The atmosphere is very dark (dark red paint on the walls), but has a "tavern/pub" feel. The decor is a collection of firefighter related items & NE sports teams. Lots of high-top seating as well as some low 2-top & 4-top tables. It gets extremely busy on Friday & Saturday nights, so expect a wait! Fridays I believe they always have some sort of live music going on. If you are a local, you are likely to run into someone you know; this place is very popular! read more

Just had the Grilled Chicken Dinner. In my opinion, the overall meal was typical of this area...a lot of fluff and no substantial value. I was a bit excited when I read the details on the menu. It stated that corn bread was an option with the meal. I disappointed. The corn bread was a not corn bread at all....it was a muffin! A sweet, corn flour muffin. Not what I expected. The meal also came with sweet potato fries! My favorite! The sweet potato fries were great! The rice pilaf was good, along with the coleslaw. As for the chicken...it was the fake, processed crap you would find being sold in a cardboard box! Disappointing. Overall, good meal. read more

Do not miss out! Food and service was fabulous....... we showed up on a Friday night around 730 through the bar entrance. We were seated immediately at a high top. We grab free popcorn (which was extremely freshly popped.) waitress came over immediately and took our drink order. We never felt rushed. Drinks were quite tasty and strong. We were shocked at the variety of the menu. In all we had the Mayhem Burger, Shephard's Pie and the Mexican Chicken. All dishes we would eat again...... stop by this place! Came here for lunch with my soon today. I got one of today's luncheon specials. It was excellent! It was a pesto, Sun dried tomato pasta with shrimp, lobster and scallops in an Alfredo sauce. Seriously who wouldn't love that? All three seafoods were delicious,fresh and cooked perfect. I ate every last bite! It came with a rather bland garden salad but the dressing was unbelievable, it was avocado Greek or something like that. It may be a secret recipe but it was really good. I love avocado anything soooooo....... My son got a basic buffalo chicken wrap but he said it was really good. He gets buffalo chicken all the time so if he said it was good I would believe him. Our waitress was very pleasant and was very efficient, unfortunately I didn't get her name. We went for a late lunch so we sat where we wanted. Warm homemade bread for the table was good as usual. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the rte 11 area of Rochester.they do have an outside patio area and a medium sized function room. We love Smokey's Tavern, it's nice to have the Granite Steak's food away from the blue hairs that reside upstairs. It can been a little too dark on a bright sunny day, but they do have an outside patio. The food of course is awesome and service is always great. read more

Best margaritas!!! Great apps and steaks, only iffy food is salads... Vegetables aren't anything to write home about. But it's a great place to go on the weekends, always some form of quality local entertainment!! No complaints, good all around. read more

Bartender was rude. We are long-time patrons and enjoy the food. Most of the time, the service is excellent. Being from the area, we usually meet someone we know. Somehow, we were accused of insulting another patron, to whom we had not even spoken. Later, I was insulted by the bartender. My posts to FB were deleted. Downstairs staff provides good service, good attitude. The food, nothing special and on some menu choices not even good. Frozen, out of the box, bag, mix type stuff . . . Cooks not chefs. Ate lunch here with a party of 7 during bike week in Laconia. I have a special dietary requirement (gf),and was hesitant to try a new restaurant while traveling. The food was delicious! The entire party enjoyed their meals and I was pleasantly surprised to find many gluten free choices on the menu. The server was knowledgable and attentive as well as extremely accommodating. Went here with my friend for a weekend lunch. Our first visit and it didn't disappoint. We tried the onion rings and chicken fingers, which really gauge a restaurant, and both were homemade and great. We split a lunch special grilled sandwich which was also great. No complaints! In this area, they really are the best. I take my whole family there. The food is always fantastic and the staff are fun and helpful. We have used the function room for family parties that everyone raved about. When someone comes to town to visit us, this is where we take them. Food is always good here but I typically come here often and the service is terrible. You seat yourself and sometimes it takes 15 minutes for someone to even come take a drink order. We sat down. About ten minutes later another group sits at the table next to us, and 5 minutes after that, the waitress finally came over and had the audacity to serve the people who say down after us, first.
