They admitted their mistake and refunded a few hundred bucks (the backyard portion, to date). George said they'd have no problem getting the backyard under control, but it was already July and that's not how weeds work - they had months to happily proliferate, and since then it's only gotten worse. Based on this experience, I had no intention of renewing for this year. No matter - they started up automatically, without notice. I called to cancel, relaying my frustration, and they said they'd revert with a better rate. They never did, and when I followed up they quoted a HIGHER price per application. George said it was based on a recalculated treatment area, but the square footage he referenced was for my entire plot, including the footprint of my house/pool/wooded areas/etc. I pointed this out and, despite multiple follow-up emails, they never responded. Very poor customer service. They screwed up my yard and then ghosted me.

We have been using Dubois Tree Service for 20 years and we have never entertained the idea of using any other business and we have them out every year to help our trees stay healthy. We recently (Saturday, July 4th, 2026) had a microburst storm that literally destroyed 8 trees on our property. These trees were all about 40 years old from when we built the house. Dubois Tree Service was out on our property the following Tuesday at 8:00 with a full crew. They not only worked on our property, but also on several other properties that day. It took two days to totally clean our property, but they were out in our neighborhood six days in a row helping people with MAJOR storm damage. The quality, the professionalism, the commitment to making sure everything is done correctly, and pricing is second to none. The owner Jimmy was with the crew everyday and his wife Christine in the office kept us up to date while I am sure she was managing a hundred different calls as this again was a MAJOR storm. Attaching pics of: Discolored stones, "drainage" holes that never drain properly due to being too small and due to improper landscaping installation (mulch slopes into patio), dead landscaping, rusting firepit, electrical wire for patio lighting that was never buried, slate that he tried to pass off as stepping stones though clearly it was from a different project and although he said it would be temporary he never replaced, another mulch area where the slope is so significant it just runs right off leaving the landscaping fabric exposed, close up of how the polymeric sand was not used along the edge of patio nor was any alternative edging used to keep the landscaping mulch off of the patio. We contacted more than 5 different contractors; some of which were rather uninterested in even performing an estimate. On the contrary, Dave with HL Design was prompt in contacting me (same day that I inquired via home advisor) as well as coming by my property and performing an estimate. We received 3 different estimates, and ultimately chose HL Design seeing as his was the best combination of value and quality body of work. The job itself turned out excellent and was completed on the timeline we had agreed to. One other thing I found interesting was that all other contractors felt they could easily disconnect and reconnect my AC unit since we wanted the unit to sit on the patio itself. HL design however suggested we call a professional to have this service done. This may have been an added cost but I believe it was the right advice seeing as there is much more that went into this than I had expected. I used Tony with Urbana HVAC for this and he was awesome in coming out on very short notice.
