Employees were helping others but over the course of 20-30 minutes no one even said, "Hey, we'll be with you in a bit," while running to and fro to grab shoes. It wasn't so busy that I wasn't seen. I have been shopping at this location for over 10 years now and they definitely know feet. It use to be fashion over function, until you get to a certain age where your puppies start barking at you so much you just can't ignore them. This store has a wide range of shoes, not always the most beautiful but they sure are comfy. The store personnel have fancy degrees in footology (I made that word up), but they do have all sorts of foot knowledge where they can definitely tell you which shoes are best for you. What really originally led me to this store was the fact that I got sick and tired of going into the large sporting goods retailers and walking out with sneakers that eventually made my feet hurt. Yes your going to drop big bucks on the shoes here, and the first time you do it your going to have all sorts of second thoughts, but after walking in the shoes you will realize you made the right decision. During my visit I purchased the Yelp coupon $20 for $10 which was helpful, not much but a little. Let's face it, when you drop $300 on two pair of New Balance sneakers the deal is barely a scratch in the bill. I will edit this later with the gentlemanly name that helped me. He was awesome and I in fact purchased the same exact pair that he was wearing. Hey, when someone tells you they have owed 13 pairs of a specific shoe....it's got to be comfy. I also wanted the same shoe in black. The store did not carry the shoe in black, but they were glad to order it for me and ship it to me free of charge. I am a loyal customer to this store for the sneakers of comfort. NewBalance carried here are not available in the mass chain sports stores. I have shopped at other comfort shoe stores in Manhattan only to be disappointed by the fitting. So, if your feet are saying ouchy, head over to Hawley Lane Shoes. I am a very long time customer of Hawley Lane shoes. I have always been very well taken care of in the store even though I have a hard time buying comfortable shoes due to tendon issues. And although through the years I've bought many many pair of shoes in that store, I also have returned some as well but still I am treated very nicely by caring staff. I was in the Norwalk store this past Friday around 4:40 pm they were not that busy. I asked about the Hoka shoe Bondi SR shoe and was told they carry it. I was then told what was on the wall it. I asked if they check the other stores to see if they carry because I told that you do have it. She walked in the back and in 30 seconds came back and told me not available at all. The impression I got was they did not want to be bother at all. So I left. I went out to my car and called the Shelton location and was told that they have it there. I'm very disappointed with my recent experience at Hawley Lane shoes in Norwalk. I've shopped here in the past and there's never been a problem. In fact it's been great. This time however I must say the service was very poor. The only reason why I chose them over any other shoes store is because they Carrie brands not a lot of retailers do. I purchased a pair of uncloud sneakers about 10 days ago. I was told they didn't have my size so they had to order from the company. I, was never told however the wait would be 2-3 weeks. If I had been told that, I would have found a faster way to get what I needed. I ended up going online and it's the same price and will only take 2-3 days After this experience I won't be coming back to this store. read more

I'm one of those people who can go into a shoe store with a huge selection like DSW and find nothing that fits. I have wide feet that are really hard to fit, and I was desperate for shoes that didn't hurt. Hawley Lane was the answer! Stephanie went above and beyond, guiding me to shoes that might work for me, and then bringing out pair after pair for me to try. It took a lot of patience and effort on her part, but she kept trying and I walked out with TWO pairs! They have a great selection of cute, quality shoes. Many are adjustable for a better fit and are made with comfort in mind - soft, flexible, and lots of cushioning. I do wish that more of the brands they carry came in wide widths, but they certainly had a lot more than you'd find elsewhere. Plus, the whole staff makes you feel welcome, and they pitch in with help and suggestions. There's no rooting around stacks of boxes, looking for your size; this is a full-service store. It's clean, attractive, and roomy, with lots of seating. I was excited to find a locally owned shoe store to take my daughter to get shoes. We came from the Houston area to visit family and on my list was to get my little girl shoes that fit. She has a wide foot and after trying 7 stores in a mall in the Houston area, she had shoes that didn't fit. They tried putting a size larger on her which they did not explain to me to compensate for the width. It didn't work. She was so excited that her shoes fit, she wore them home. Thanks for your help. He measured both of them, found them each a pair and gave us advice for brands to buy and when to come back to get them measured again. Recently, I acquired three pairs of shoes from Hawley Lane: A pair of sneakers, flip flops and nighttime slippers. The sneakers are true to size and one of the best fitting shoes I have ever worn. Re: the flip flops, I am not a big flip flop wearer however, these don't feel like flip flops. They are comfortable and very easy to wear and do not feel like regular flip flops that I always felt like I was about to lose or trip over. As far as the slippers go; one would think slippers are slippers but not for me. I spent too many years wearing high heels in Corporate America and my feet are letting me know it. I need a lot of impact protection so I opted to get great shoes that would help and all three pairs of these shoes are helping immensely. Plus, the way the sneakers are made, I suspect I'll have them for a minimum of 20 years! Great use of materials. And, the prices are totally affordable. Really great shoes without breaking the bank! Went there to check out women's Birkenstocks, Tom's and a pair of sandals for my daughter. Walked around and looked for fifteen minutes. Most of the "fit specialists" we're busy assisting other patrons, but you would think someone would at least greet me or tell me they'd be with me in a moment. No one even acknowledge my toddler or me. Luckily they had a few sizes of Birkenstocks out so I now know which to order online from Amazon. They lost at least $200 today from me. While he found the perfect shoe so I no longer suffered from hip pain, because of my nerve pain, my feet still hurt (and because of my job, I am on my feet all day). On his own accord, Scott offered to to make special inserts for my sandals so I would have more cushioning and support. He spent so much time with me and gave me so much expert attention to make sure my shoes were going to be comfortable. I truly thought customer service like this no longer existed. He will analyze your feet through a variety of tests and tell you which shoe or orthodic works best.and make adjustments to the shoe if needed. He is absolutely wonderful to work with. I shopped at this chain at the Stamford location and it was the worst retail experience I have EVER had. The manager and sales associates actually accused me of changing the sale price on a pair of display shoes. I have never been so appalled in my entire life. How can sales associates and the store manager actually treat their customers this way? My mother has been a very good customer of theirs for years. She bought me a Christmas gift that I had to return. I returned the gift during their new years sale. I tried on a pair of boots that were marked down to $79.99 so i could exchange my gift. They didn't have my sizes, so they ordered from their Norwalk location. When I returned the following day to collect and pay for the shoes, the sales associate helping me could not locate the shoe that had been ordered. It took her 20 minutes to find. When she did, it turned out the person helping me the day prior transferred the wrong size. I, therefore, had to order the correct size once again from another store and have it transferred. It took the sales associate helping me another 30 minutes to order the correct size from another store. Why it took so long for her to do i have no idea. I returned to the store the following day to finally pick up the shoes and pay for them i was told they were wringing up at $129.99, not the $79.99 I was told 3 days prior. When I showed the sales associate the display shoe marked down to $79.99, she was confused and said it was incorrect. Since I had ordered the shoes thinking they were $79.99, I asked if they would honor the price. She was rude and simply said its not her fault they were priced incorrectly. I asked to speak to the manager who said he made all the sale tags himself and that he was told I changed the sale price tag on the display shoe! I can NOT believe this is how a retailer could treat their customers. My blood was boiling to be accused of such a thing. This store has the most incompetent sales staff and store manager I have ever come into contact with. They have no clue what the definition of customer service is. Do yourself a favor and go to the lord and Taylor across the street who have a much better selection, less expensive prices, sales and understand how to treat their customers. I I will never shop at this store again and have told my family and friends to avoid. read more

I think 1/2 the shoes I bought here "new" have been returned. The last pair I bought were Merrell clogs. They had a squeek. So I went to return them. I only wore them twice. It was actually the 2nd day I was wearing them I returned them. I had them on. I went right from work to there. Well you should never do anything when you're tired. The sales person saw they did in fact had a squeek. She went in the back and it took her a while but eventually came out with another pair. I tried them on. I noticed they were roomier then my others. Keep in mind these are my 6th pair. Because I was tired it didn't really register as to why they might be roomier (stretched out). I was just checking to make sure they didn't squeek. They didn't so I left with them on my feet. Well when I got home I thought to myself, I bet these have been returned. In the store I noticed the bottoms had some stuff on them but again tired didn't register. So I smelled them when I was home. They stunk!!!! I said no way did my feet make this much stink (I wear socks and I only had them on a 1/2 hour) There is no way I am ever going back there again. To think they sent me away with stinky shoes. I immediantly threw them in the washer. I didn't care if the shoes were ruined. Luckily they weren't. Someone must have wore these with no shocks on and then returned them. To think of all the money I've spent in that store. I've bought at least 15 pairs of shoes there and for them to send me off in returned shoes. Well lets just say that's the straw that broke the camels back. Buyer beware! read more
