I was locked out of the main building twice before we even got all our bags in the room. This doesn't happen at hotels...ever. I tried to get another set of keys but the two staff members I managed to talk to couldn't help and the owner is completely hands off. The manager wasn't there either. I walk with a cane and had to go up and down a flight of stairs just to get some ice as my wife had the only key and she was asleep. Also, this place is NOT handicap accessible. The gravel on the driveway alone is enough to stop a wheelchair before you even get to the front door. Breakfast our first morning was pretty bad. We ordered when we sat down and had a choice of eggs, sausage, fruit bowl and toast..aside from some pretty thin orange juice and coffee that was all. I ordered eggs over medium and got completely hard dry eggs. They seemed confused by "over medium". And the blueberries were small and tart. Meh... The next two morning was a breakfast Buffett..scrambled eggs,sausage, toast, fruit bowl and also cereal and yogurt. Better, but still rather limited.. There was supposed to be a pond, but I didn't even want to get close as the sulfur/bog smell was too strong. And the "tide pool" had perhaps two shellfish and that's it. The weather was nice but a bit warm..if it were hot the ac unit in the room was terrible. Super loud so my wife wouldn't let me turn it on. It was one of those portable units with a flexible hose for the exhaust. Cheap, ugly, loud. A mini split would have been much better. There was a very small kiwi orchard...I was told that the previous owners were very involved in the farm aspect of the property, but the new owners didn't care at all. Evidently just want tourists money. The lamps by the bedside were blinding. The light bulbs stick out above the lamp shade. I had to throw a towel over the light to read at night. I saw more bats than birds, and a few rabbits. Plenty of plants to see, but very few animals. We were there for 3 nights. Luckily, very few insects, and only a couple of mosquitoes. This place really could have been better.

It is situated along Ladysmith Harbor, just beyond the kiwi farm behind the lodge. My room was comfortable and really cute. I also had an amazing view of the kiwi from my balcony. There are multiple entrances and exits, so you don't have to always go to the lobby to go in and out. I enjoyed taking walks behind the lodge, out to the harbor. I saw many birds, some wild bunnies, and felt really relaxed and at peace there. Breakfast was fantastic with friendly service. It was a lot of food! I had 2 eggs, sausage, toast, and a starter which consisted of fruit and yogurt. Doug gave us some a good recommendation for a place to eat since my colleague and I were only there overnight. He also was an excellent host. I would definitely recommend Kiwi Cove Lodge to anyone who likes the bed and breakfast type of atmosphere, or who loves taking walks outdoors. If I am ever in the area again, I'd go back.

Virginia is an awesome cook, and Andy is the consummate guide to all things local, from underwater critters, to birds, to kayaking. If you want a comfortable place to stay with hosts that will help you line up your kayaking or scuba diving, this is a great place. Thetis Island is just enough off the beaten path without being too remote. Highly recommend.

(but their site makes this clear) ROOM with en suite shower/toilet (no tub): Very well appointed, comfortable bed, easy access to two electric plugs and two USB electric ports at desk. Comfortable main living/dining space for all guests use. Nice views of Salish Sea from front (garden view from guest rooms), easy parking for car (must have car for this area). Guests can use small space in frig for left-overs or bottle of wine. I found the TV control to be a bit confusing but OK for short stay use. PLEASE Stay HERE MORE than one night...there is so much to see and experience in the area. I arrived on Vancouver Island via FERRY, on foot, from West Vancouver-Horseshoe Bay...used the 257 express Bus from downtown Vancouver CITY (very easy-peasy). Lucky I had a friend to meet me, take to my rental car at Nanaimo Airport. I spent seven nights at Eagle B&B...using rental car from Nanaimo Airport (where I flew out of) Used for: -SOUTH: day trip to Victoria in the south, winery and ciderys two day trip... -NORTH: Goats, Coombs, and Qualicum Bay to the north. -A daytrip in Nanaimo via Cedar Rd. I visited all the WONDERFUL local Museums: Chemainus (friendly--small), Nanaimo (REALLY good), LadySmith (exceptional for a small town)--it shows the history of the area (coal and timber).

This was my first B&B experience and it was absolutely amazing. I booked a reservation here for two…read morenights through expedia and got a great deal, also the cancellation policy offered through Eagle Rock B&b is second to none, you don't have to worry if your plans change. Upon arrival at the residence we were greeted by the owner (Jim) who was very proffesional and nice, he showed us all the amenities of the house and how to get in and out, it was really quick and easy. We reserved the "Repertoire" room which has a king bed and a very nice personal bathroom. Everything was nice and clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, my girlfriend and I both sleep great both nights we stayed here. Breakfast in the morning was top notch! Jim makes it really easy to order what you want, he sent us an email before we arrived asking what we would like, and what time we would like to eat. The first morning I had ham and cheese stuffed french toast (soooo good), and the second morning I had eggs benedict (yummy). Both of the meals were exceptional, and hands down some of the best breakfast meals I've ever been served. I wish we could have stayed longer to try the other items that are available! In addition to the great bedroom and delicious breakfast, the house is also really nice. I had a great cup of coffee in the morning and a nice glass of wine at night sitting in the window seats in the living room. The view is so nice, overlooking the strait of Georgia you can see mountains, the water, and sailboats passing by. The beach is an easy 1 minute walk away! The owners professionalism and courteous can't be forgotten, it's what really made the stay here at Eagle Rock B&B so special. Jim is so easy to talk to and really has a great personality. He always found the perfect point between being a host, and giving us our own space. Thanks for your hospitality, I look forward to coming back here again!
