This is a review I didn't expect to be making and am very disappointed by my experience here today. First off, I just want to say, I've had really great experiences with the vet techs/staff. I've also had an okay experience with the vet. I'm not exactly sure what happened tonight, but just pure disorganization for sure. I first came here last Monday. My dog had some sort of large wound and raised bump on his paw. It wouldn't go away. My schedule is pretty inflexible so it's hard to find a vet that sees pets after normal business hours and doesn't charge an emergency fee. I stumbled upon HQPC on Yelp and it had great reviews. I called and was able to get a same day appointment. I spoke to Jay at that time and she was lovely. I came in at my appointment time, was seen right away and was helped by Angel and another vet tech or employee. I didn't get her name but she has tattoos. Both her and Angel were so kind and lovely. Dr. Amini was really helpful too! I left ready to leave a 5 star review, but just didn't have the time to. I came back today (Monday) as my pup wasn't really improving. I was happy to come back since I had such a great experience last week. I made a same day appointment at 7:45pm. I arrived 5 minutes late (oops), though that didn't even matter. I waited about 25 min in the waiting room. Once we got checked in, I waited another 25 minutes in the medical room. Dr. Amini came in for approximately 3 minutes, said he wanted to do a cytology and a vet tech will be in to help me. Great! Someone came in to help me sign the forms for the $500 bill. And then I waited and waited for another 25 minutes. Theres also some time unaccounted for so I honestly probably underestimated the time too. But I was here about 1.5 hours, if not more. Needless to say, I left. Michelle, who helped me out in the front to check out was very kind and understanding. She explained that Dr. Amini was running behind due to a surgery. I totally understand and please please triage and put more urgent pets before mine! But there was no communication of this at all. Just waiting and waiting. Dr. Amini was literally only in the room with us for 3 minutes. Michelle said she wouldn't charge me, which was nice. But I wasted almost 2 hours and nothing was done with my pup. I'm overall, just really disappointed with my experience. read more

Scheduled this visit specifically for a rabies vaccine (second round) for my newly adopted dog and paid the required $25 deposit. The front desk was kind, but the visit went downhill from there. The vet had minimal interaction with my dog and charged $35 for a "new patient exam" that consisted of a brief gum and fur check -- no ears or full physical exam. Instead of receiving the rabies vaccine, I left with a $600+ upsell estimate for flea prevention (no fleas), bloodwork, stool testing, and microchipping -- and the estimate didn't even include the rabies vaccine I came in for. Words can't do justice in explaining how good this place runs. I have been dealing with such a stressful situation, it makes me cry. Simply after calling this place on the phone, I already felt a humanly sense of care that I haven't felt recently. The people running this place made me feel so at ease, without even knowing the mental state I've been in trying to handle the situation with my cat having been attacked. When I arrived, my cat was taken in, and they all treated him like their own companion. Thank you Christina, for making me feel calmer and showing me financial options to lighten my burden. It made my stress go away after so much mental turmoil. Dr. Adler then came in to observe my cat. He knew exactly what he was doing and executed perfectly. A thorough examination of the cat was done with precise descriptions during review of the injuries. Throughout the examination, everything was documented with an advanced AI tool and I was able to get spot on answers to my questions. I then went with Melissa and Selena to get my next appointment scheduled. They provided me with the breakdowns of everything that was done, along with specific instructions for my cat's medication. Melissa also really helped me navigate through the billing, she made everything so easy for me and, even provided me with a box carrier for my cat since my cat was in so much distress in the original carrier I brought him in. I came in for another visit and was kindly welcomed and greeted by Gabby who followed through on checking the status of my cat and making sure he's okay. David then brought me in to reunite me with my cat. He explained the follow up details and instructions with me after the cats procedure, and was very gentle with the cat. He also provided extra padding for the carrier for when I take him back home, in case of any accidents, and he gave me recommendations for keeping the cat at ease during his recovery. I will drive an hour away to Hawthorne Quality Pet Care (HQPC) because it's truly the best care for pets and patients. Everyone here is very knowledgeable, very reasonable, so caring, they do everything in their power to help, and the people running the place truly stand out. I almost forgot to mention, they have snacks and drinks in the lobby. It is truly wholesome because as pet owners we come in so stressed when our baby animals are sick that we neglect ourselves and suppress our eating in order to handle the situation at hand. That was the day I came in because one of your Dr.'s screwed up our regulated prescription for the 4th time and 4 times we had to leave the Torrance Costco location and travel back to your facility to have the written prescription fixed! The fact your hours on Thursday and Friday are only from 9-3 may be convenient for you but not the clients that need an establishment with more days and hours availability. You never addressed that your office also does not neuter male dogs and why not? You are well aware of the crisis/ epidemic of over pet population and euthanization in the over crowded shelters. This adds to the problem, not solution. I don't feel my suggesting people find a veterinary office with more availability or as a back up is unreasonable. read more

I came here on an emergency visit because all other vets were closed. My puppy was excessively drooling and had labored breathing and I didn't know why. The staff kept insinuating that he might've gotten into drugs of some sort, even after me stating I was not a consumer of anything not even recreational substances. They later ran tests on him and determined that he had aspirated his vomit and that's why he was presenting these symptoms. Last week, my sister and I rescued a cat who was severely injured from a dog fight. Took our little guy to the Access Hospital, and left with a big bill and no help. The next day we took him here, and I have no words to describe how caring and wonderful everyone was. From Gabby at the front desk, to the doctor and all of the nurses. They all were very sweet and helpful, went above and beyond to try and save Rayito. Unfortunately, the injuries were too much, and infection had spread. I know for certain, they did all they could... but this little angel needed to cross the rainbow. They gave us pain medicine, so he won't suffer, and we took him home. Dr Zanetti misdiagnosed my cat Dixie with either a sprain or arthritis in September. I had to take Dixie back to Quality Pet Care on November 16th because she wasn't eating or using the litter box. I was told she was severely constipated, no mention of any other problems. Dixie was given an enema and sent home with a laxative and antibiotics. On December 13th, I took Dixie to the emergency vet because she was very weak and not eating much. That night she was not only diagnosed with fatty liver disease but her pelvis and hip were basically disintegrated most likely from an aggressive cancer. The vet told me this was visible on xrays done in November at Quality Pet Care. I later saw the xrays from September and November and I could clearly see what Dr Zanetti missed. After watching Dixie suffer , I had to make the painful decision to have she euthanased. read more

10* if I could for this excellent vet practice, both vet and staff! My daughter's Maltese pup was ill with a lack of appetite and diarrhea and we were very concerned as she was tiny and only 1.7 lbs. Of course this happened on Labour weekend, on a Sunday, and this was one of the few vet practices open. We called and made an appointment and were told there was an hours wait and the staff would text us 15 mins before we were going to be seen. Great idea as our pup was making a big mess everywhere, poor baby. They called and we were put into a room once we arrived, clean and recently refurbished. A tech came in to take notes and the vet followed soon after. He examined our tiny pup and said we needed a fecal test to diagnose fully, but in the meantime he was going to dispense meds to encourage her appetite, solidify her poop, antibiotics and parasite meds in the hope it would make her more comfortable and her encourage her to eat in the meantime. He explained everything and was reassuring and listened to our questions and gave us answers. This proactive approach saved her life, for which we are extremely grateful. The staff made sure we knew the meds requirements, and made some great suggestions to help out and generally made us welcome and helped calm us down. Once the fecal test came back the vet had another med ready for pick up within 30 mins to treat the parasite causing the illness. After the treatments our pup was back to being an irascible puppy full of joy n fun...n teeth! She also put some weight on and was over 2lbs. We returned to do another fecal test to make sure the parasite was cleared, and also to have a second round of puppy shots. Everyone was just as nice second time around and helpful in explaining what shots were needed next, etc. I am very glad we were recommended to visit this vet, and that they are open on Sunday. On top of it all, they were also competitively priced too. I can't thank them enough for keeping our pup healthy and happy. I would strongly recommend them if you are looking for a regular vet, or emergency care on a Sunday. The local community seems to be very happy to have this practice open in the area if you read the reviews below, so I'm not the only one impressed with them. read more

Dr. O was very thorough explaining (repeatedly) so I understood everything. He wasn't rushed- he took his time and did a wonderful job. The techs were amazing- very kind,warm to my chihuahua. I can't say enough about EVERYONE at this office!! I went into the office this morning, a Sunday, for help with my pup. We'd been seeing another vet since August, and they had all but given up trying to help her. I decided to try someone else to get another opinion. And I'm so glad I did! From the minute I walked in to the minute I left.... I felt heard, seen, important, and confident that they could help my pup. Dr O listened patiently to the whole long story, and formulated a plan. I'm not one to leave a review, however I feel extremely let down by the disorganized nature of their practice. Staff is nice & I had never had a complaint until now -- waited an hour and ten to be seen only to be told my dog had to be left to be treated, a treatment which was simply cleaning & wrapping her wound. I understand being busy & unexpected delays -- I am extremely patient but was anxious to leave my dog for such a minimal thing. I wasn't called in, I eventually came to pick her up 10 minutes before the establishment's closing time only to be called out back & asked what exactly was it that my dog needed to be treated for, when it's the doctor who they should have been asking because this was what he prescribed -- they dismissed what I had mentioned to a nurse before I left my dog...that she didn't need to be bandaged (because I was already doing that at home: cleaning and dressing her wound) I could do it myself I just needed pain medication because I fear she was in pain. I was coaxed into allowing the treatment and then when push came to shove, they ended up saying she didn't need any treatment & that she'd be okay with just neosporin. I had to reiterate to them I simply wanted pain medication. I wasted 3 hours and a half, just to be told what I was doing at home was sufficient & severely stressed my dog out for no reason. It felt like a money grab. They seem to lack communication & are not organized. read more

When you bring your pet here, they will be getting an honest and reliable treatment. They are always well-cared for by the dedicated and caring staff. My Cats always receive the correct treatment that cures whatever issues they have had in the past (fleas, worms, spay/neuter, tooth extractions, and when my Cats accidentally bit each other :(. BUT I forgot that I had put in a chip for my dog when he was getting neutered here three years ago thinking he will be traveling with us. So now we are planning on a trip to Europe and just found out the chip they have put in doesn't qualify for travel in Europe. WTH!!!!!! My new Vet told us that chip they have put in is not much in use anymore. OMG what a waist of time money and effort. Updated review: Rude, condescending, and unhelpful staff. I was super in love with this vet office until my most recent experience. However, my dogs appointment today was cancelled due to an emergency. I understand a pet in need comes first. However, the receptionist never called to notify me. So, when my partner showed up with our dog he was turned away. When I called to determine why our appointment was cancelled, the receptionist was rude and argumentative. I then spoke with Marina who assured me they did call and leave a voicemail today. I reviewed my phone records, phone log, and voicemails - nothing. Rather than assist in resolving this issue, Marina asserted she's "known the receptionist for 3 years" and she doesn't make mistakes. Which is interesting because the receptionist cancelled our appointment today (without calling) AND THEN marked us down as a "no show". Whether incompetent or petty, it demonstrated a pattern of inconsistency. This, coupled with the attitude of the employees has me never going back. I know this place takes Yelp review seriously, so I really hope someone reads this. The staff was rude, argumentative, and unhelpful. Fantastic practice, both staff and vet, who saved our precious maltese puppy who was seriously ill with an infection and lack of appetite with severe diarrhea. Unfortunately it was labor day weekend and our normal vet was closed, but luckily HQPC was open on Sunday and worked out cheaper than VCA Emergency. A fecal test was taken but the results were going to take a few days because of Labor day so the vet started treating our pup straightaway with antibiotics, stool firmer, and anti nausea/appetite stimulant. He also recommended Nutri-Cal which they stock. She loved the taste of it and it helped immensely. The vet called once he had the fecal test results a few days later and she had a parasite infection (probably from her mum), so he added medicine which was ready for pick up so we could start it immediately. Our pup is eating non stop now, putting on weight and running around full of puppy mischief and joy. We can't thank the staff and vet enough for their help in saving our little fluffy wonder, they were amazing! read more
