I have been to so many vet hospitals and this one has made such an impact on me that I will definitely make this our permanent vet. I brought my pug to VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center because he had a very high fever, wasn't eating, was weak, and was becoming dehydrated. Earlier that day, he had already been seen by my regular veterinarian, where bloodwork was done. Since they couldn't determine the cause of his illness, they recommended I take him to an urgent care facility. The only reason they referred me was because they did not have the equipment to perform X-rays or an ultrasound. They had already done everything they could at their clinic and wanted my dog to receive the advanced imaging he needed. When I arrived around 12:00 PM, the receptionist told me the wait would be about two hours. I completely understood because it's an urgent care, and I appreciated that they took my dog into the treatment area. I assumed he would at least receive IV fluids to keep him hydrated while we waited, especially because I specifically told the receptionist he wasn't eating, was weak, and needed an IV. I was willing to pay for whatever treatment he needed. As the hours passed, I repeatedly asked for updates. Around 3:00 PM, then again at 5:00 PM, I was told my dog was doing fine and that I would be seen soon. Finally, at about 7:00 PM, we were taken into an exam room. The veterinarian came in and immediately asked what was wrong with my dog. I was surprised because it seemed she hadn't been briefed on why we were there. I had to explain everything from the beginning while feeling overwhelmed after waiting seven hours. When I asked if my dog had been receiving IV fluids during that time, I was shocked to learn that he had not received any IV treatment at all. That was extremely upsetting because I believed he was at least being kept hydrated while waiting. After briefly reviewing the bloodwork from my regular veterinarian, the doctor told me my dog "might have leukemia (CANCER)" before performing any imaging, such as X-rays or an ultrasound. Hearing that was heartbreaking. She then recommended additional testing, including more bloodwork, X-rays, an ultrasound, and other diagnostics, with an estimated cost of around $12,000 just to determine what was wrong. I understand that diagnostics are important and that emergency veterinary medicine is expensive. However, after the lack of communication, the seven-hour wait without IV fluids, and hearing such a serious possibility mentioned before additional testing was done, I no longer felt confident continuing care there. I decided to take my dog home. Over the next two days, I focused on keeping him hydrated, monitored him closely, gently massaged his abdomen, and followed supportive care at home. Thankfully, he eventually passed a large mango pit in his stool. Once it came out, he quickly improved and made a full recovery. He did not have cancer. What scares me the most is thinking about how many pet owners may feel pressured into making heartbreaking decisions because of an initial possible diagnosis or because they simply can't afford the recommended costs. I kept thinking that could have been me. If I had accepted that my dog might have cancer without seeking another opinion or waiting for additional answers, I might have made a decision I would have regretted forever. Thankfully, in my dog's case, that wasn't what was wrong. Looking back, I understand that an X-ray may have helped identify the obstruction, and that is exactly why my regular veterinarian referred me there--they did not have the equipment to perform those tests. However, my experience left me feeling that communication was poor, my concerns were not taken seriously, and my dog waited far too long without the supportive care I believed he would receive. This was my personal experience, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this facility based on how my dog and I were treated. Came in on June 21st at 2AM, my partner and unfortunately our experience started off terribly because of the receptionist!!! I noticed before coming in that several other reviews mentioned issues with her attitude, and it's disappointing to see that nothing seems to have changed. The moment we walked in, we were treated as if we were inconveniencing her simply by being there. We were trying to explain the concerns we had about our cat, but she immediately interrupted us and said we could discuss it with the doctor instead. The most frustrating part was the inconsistency. We asked if we were allowed to leave after the visit, and she responded with a simple "mhm," making it seem like that was perfectly fine. Later, she questioned us and asked who had given us permission to leave the room. The entire interaction was confusing, unprofessional, and unnecessarily rude. The veterinary staff may be great, but the front desk is the first impression customers receive, and this experience left a very negative one. If this clinic is struggling to find receptionists, I understand, but it's hard to believe this is the best option available. Customers deserve to be treated with basic respect, especially when they're already worried about their pets. read more

I rushed my cat Winnie to VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Lawndale after she was attacked by dogs, breathing heavily and clearly in distress. I told them she was my cat and that I would pay for her care. But I was told they didn't take strays and that nothing could be done except euthanasia. No veterinarian ever examined her, and I kept asking why she was being denied care, but never got a clear answer. Winnie wasn't a stray. She was my baby. I have photos of her as a kitten. She died on the way to another emergency hospital. I'll never know if things could have been different, but I do know she left without even being examined. Every animal deserves compassion, especially when they're injured and begging for help. I don't post this to be cruel. I post this because I don't want anyone else to feel the same heartbreak of holding their beloved animal, begging for help and getting none. The receptionist at the front desk didn't even go around to look or never her to check her wounds and She just looked at me and said we don't take strays. Coco was brought in by my husband on Saturday afternoon, she had thrown up and had a seizure. He was helped right away and Coco was seen by the Vet . Once my husband figured out what she might have eaten ; poison control was called , and her treatment was started . Saturday night we kept getting updates , what labs were gonna be drawn and what exams were needed . My husband was able to visit her Sunday morning , and she was so happy to see him . I was able to come Monday morning . And she was able to be discharged Monday night . Thank you to VCA team for saving my girls life ! I can't say how grateful I am for the whole team ! I came here because my fur baby unfortunately swallowed a raisin. The vet techs took her in immediately. The wait was long. I mean very long. Except to be here for some hours. They brought her out and she seemed fine. They explained to me they were able to retrieve one raisin. I was relieved because I thought she swallowed more. Now when it came to cost, I know these things can be costly. The Dr assistant did want me to pay between 3,500-4,500 for my fur baby to stay there for two nights to check her levels. When I informed the Dr assistant I did not have that sort of money. The Dr assistant demeanor seemed to have changed, but she followed up with me after and asked how Prada was holding up. The doctor on the other hand was very nice and accommodating. Luckily my fur baby Prada is very much alive. If my fur baby has another medical emergency I would come back here. This hospital has been our go to when we have an emergency for my frenchie, Oliver. Unfortunately we had to take him in back in May due to a lump forming around the neck area. After testing, it was suspected that his salivary glands were swollen and required surgery. We recently did the CT scan and the surgery and they kept my boy over night to recover. When I tell you, they took such good care of him! He was in such good shape when I took him home to recover. He was excited to interact with the staff and excited to see them for his follow up. I am very appreciative of Dr. Mejia and his team for providing me with updates and answering my questions while they were treating Oliver. The bill was a thing of nightmares (lol) but nothing compares to having my dog lump free. I highly recommend this vet ER to all fur parents read more

I usually don't write reviews like this, but I do not want another person to go through what I experienced. On January 8, 2026, I took my dog to VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center. In the beginning, everything seemed fine. I was able to get an appointment within two days after my regular veterinarian referred us for an ultrasound. When I arrived on 1/8/2026, I waited for more than an hour. I understood they were very busy, and an assistant came out to explain and apologize for the delay. When it was my turn, I met the doctor. She was very professional and kind. She performed the ultrasound and took her time explaining the results. I received my dog's medication there, and they explained how to administer it and told me to call if I had any questions. I was instructed to give my dog two prednisone pills for the first seven days, then reduce the dose to one and a half pills. While my dog was taking two pills, he improved--he was eating, breathing better, and walking. However, once I reduced the dose to one and a half pills, his health declined, and he began showing the same symptoms as before. I called the clinic VCA 1/18/2026 on a Monday to ask if I should return to the two-pill dosage. The doctor's assistant, Kylie, who was very kind, told me the doctor was not in and that she would send her a message and call me back as soon as she heard from her. Tuesday passed, so I called again and spoke with a woman named Jennifer, who was not very pleasant. She said, "Didn't the assistant tell you they would call you when the doctor gets back to her? She's not here and won't be back until Thursday." Thursday Jan. 22 Kylie texted me apologizing and letting me know that she would re-message. The doctor ,never got back to her. I waited until Thursday. No one called. More days passed, still no call. I did not call again because Jennifer had told me they would contact me once the doctor responded. Nearly a month went by, and I never received a call. During this time, my dog passed away. When I took my dog to his regular veterinarian on 1/26. I was told that VCA still had not sent them the ultrasound results. I had received the results myself ,but I am not a veterinarian and cannot interpret them properly. I am extremely disappointed. I have lost trust in this place. I had even referred a cousin to them, but I immediately called her and told her to cancel and seek care elsewhere. Once you leave this place, it feels like you no longer exist. I am still angry, disappointed, and confused. They were very attentive while I was there, but after I left, my dog felt like he no longer mattered. I am strongly considering contacting a lawyer. read more

I've had major anxiety each weekend ever since my horrible experience with this emergency vet clinic, just hoping my pet never falls ill again on a weekend and that he can hold on until the week for his regular vet instead of this place. I debated posting my review since I know some vets at this clinic may not be as bad as our experience was, but I needed to warn others not to bother taking their pets here if their pets are the least bit skittish or aggressive, it was a complete waste of a trip for me and my sick cat who were told to go home and come back after I could sedate him after several hours. About a month ago my cat had multiple bouts of liquid diarrhea all weekend and had been vomiting and nothing I had done to try to treat him was working. I knew he was severely dehydrated and given that he also has kidney disease this can be very dangerous. So out of desperation I took him here hoping the vet could get fluids into him and do some bloodwork rather than waiting until after the weekend for his regular vet. There was only one other pet being treated and had finished up as we arrived here. I filled out the paperwork then was taken to a waiting room while my cat was taken back to get vitals done by the on duty vet. Well about 45 minutes later the vet who never bothered to come out to meet with me, sent her vet tech to ask me to take the cat home and give him a sedative then bring him back to be seen since he was hissing and yelling which he does sometimes in unfamiliar situations. I don't think they even bothered to open his carrier and try to work him, because I've taken him to other vets with good bedside manners in the past who had no issues with him and were patient with him knowing his fear of new places. The whole point of me taking him in for an emergency visit was because time was of the essence and he needed to be seen quickly, there was no time for me to attempt giving him gabapentin which he likely would have vomited up or not eaten anyway. In the end, we went home without him being treated and had to wait until after the weekend for his normal vet to give him fluids, bloodwork, x-rays and medicine. It's a good thing his normal vet came to the rescue and got him back on track to slowly heal over the past several weeks. I just hope if he ever has another health emergency, it doesn't happen on a weekend since this place and Access are the only ones in the Southbay open 24 hrs on weekends, and neither has rave reviews which people should take seriously when considering bringing their pets to be seen. read more

We had the sad day come for our 12 year old German Shepherd with cancer where we knew that he was not doing well, he had stopped eating and wasn't holding food down. It was a Sunday evening and we felt like we owed him the concern to take him in that night to let him go. The staff and doctor at VCA were extraordinarily kind and understanding toward us and our dog at what must be the worst day of any pet owner's life. This place, specifically Dr. Elliot and Dr. Waithe are owed our endless gratitude. They had a major role in saving our dogs life. We had face time with Dr. Elliott who was just amazing. We didn't meet Dr. Waithe but we know she had an important role in this as well. We had brought our sweet 9 year old pup into another animal hospital 3 separate times over the course of 5 days. We were told his issues were not anything urgent, the hospital would not perform an ultrasound nor schedule one despite us asking multiple times and we were suggested to give his symptoms 48 more hours on a couple occasions. We knew in our gut something wasn't right. The second time the place suggested 48 more hours, we called up VCA in Lawndale who listened to what we had to say and scheduled us for an ultrasound that afternoon. They ended up calling us to come in asap as after reviewing everything they felt it was an urgent matter. It turned out to be very urgent. Our sweet boy was likely to go septic. We either had to put him down or go to speciality hospital for a surgery. Our pup is currently home with us. Snuggling with our daughter as I type. While he has a long way to go, he is here now because of Dr. Elliott. She was comforting, kind, and knowledgeable. Dr. Elliott went above and beyond. When our dog was in the hospital getting surgery, we called to check on him. The person who answered told us how on the other line, VCA was actually calling to check on him. Meaning, VCA, who no longer needed to do anything to do with our pup, took the time to call the place he was getting surgery at just to follow up. Dr. Elliott also reached out to us to see how we were all doing. The care that went into our experience was amazing. I am beyond grateful we called this VCA that day. I'm an RVT at a regular general practice & this place hated to see a well rounded technician coming. Off the bat they were not capable of any emergency. I called ahead & told them my dog was unresponsive. I told them to be outside, they were WALKING to my car. I literally had to RAISE MY VOICE TO RUSH THEM to get to my unresponsive almost 70# dog. Sorry to say the veterinarian on staff was sadly incompetent. She seemed stumped about my dogs case. Asking me if he got into dr*gs or if I had sedation jelly at home. After taking him to MY JOB we found out he probably suffered a stroke & was in Cushing triad. We did everything the ER asked us to do but didn't mention anything about a possible stroke. Under those stressful circumstances, the staff at the VCA provided skilled and compassionate care that led to the best possible outcome. Our girl also has a few other issues, so they helped us with a treatment plan and sent us home feeling prepared and confident in the approach. Big shout-out to Dr. Waithe and Dr. Amavizca; they were so thorough in explaining her test results and giving us both recommendations and options. If you love your pet, DO NOT bring them here! I was absolutely horrified and shocked by the atrocious and horrific service provided by this establishment. I was pet sitting, and had taken a dog in for a friend. I was informed by the person Alyssa, who checked me in, that they needed to call the owner and get approval for certain things. I told her when I showed up, before 4pm, that I needed to pick up my son and I would return. She said ok but first they needed to do a few things, but she would let me know when I could leave to pick up my son. (Mind you if they told me I couldn't leave I would have picked up my son and then come back as he was less than 10 minutes away!) Alyssa left at 4:30 and Kelli (vet tech) comes out to talk to me and I explained to her that I needed to pick up my son at some point before 6 and I asked if it was ok. Yes no problem she said. OK great I say let me know when I can go get him. I'm also respectful of their time and making sure that whatever they need, I give them. Being that they told me the wait to see the dog was 4-6 hours this didn't seem odd to me. Right before 5pm Kayla calls me up and tells me they have a treatment plan and that they are going to reach out to the dog owner for approval and that I can pick up my son. I ask for the treatment plan and so I can also text the owner. I received the following information. Exam $170, Bloodwork $138, X-ray $534 plus $213 outside radiologist fee. I said ok and asked if I needed to pay a deposit. No I was told. I then go to my car and the owner calls me extremely upset. Someone called her, gave her DIFFERENT pricing, HIGHER pricing, rudely spoke over her and wouldn't let the owner ask questions and told the owner that I had ABANDONED the dog and they needed a credit card deposit to begin treatment but couldn't accept it over the phone!!! I was in my car about to pick up my son which I was told I could do!!! WTH! So I come back in and went back to Layla and told her what the owner had told me. An EXTREMELY rude vet tech was interjecting when I was calmly trying to speak to Kayla to understand the miscommunication. I finally had to tell the vet tech to stop and actually put my hand up in her direction because she rudely continued to interject. I told Kayla that I'd pay for the exam. She took my credit card at 5:07pm. She said I needed to go to a waiting room to wait for the vet. I said ok and again asked if I would be able to pick my son up before 6. She said yes so I went to the waiting room. After 10 minutes of waiting Rich the hospital administrator came in to see me. He initially asked "so you're refusing treatment and taking the dog and leaving?" I tell him there must be a miscommunication and I explain all the above including I had just paid $170 for the exam. He informs me it will be 4-6 hours from then before the vet can see the dog. I tell him then I will pick up my son and come back. No he said that isn't allowed. I'm like 3 of your staff told me I could. At this point it's after 5:30 and I can't even make other arrangements to pick up my son!!! He insists that I need to pay all of the higher inflated costs that were told to owner before the vet (Heather Elliott, DVM) would even look at the dog. I then asked for a compromise I said look the vet tech really upset the owner can the vet come in, perform the exam, I will have the owner on speaker phone and then the vet can explain what treatment is needed and why. I'll go talk to the vet he says. He returns and says no either pay for everything or we can't help you. I was horrifically appalled!! So you can't even explain during an exam what additional diagnostics are needed and why??? HUGE RED FLAG!!! I said forget it, you all have no integrity and trust has been destroyed. I demanded a refund, which wasn't initially provided and left. If there policy was all or nothing this should have been disclosed at the beginning of the process but instead they drag out the process, price gouge, waste over an hour and a half of your time and don't have the dogs best interest at heart!!! Needless to say they need to also improve their training policies so everyone is aligned on policies, pricing, etc. it tells me they are swindlers trying to milk pet owners when their pet is sick. :( read more

They made us sit in a room for 6 hrs without examining our dog and not informing us of any information. I must say that I was very impressed with the care at this Vet office. I was greeted by friendly staff and I love that they take time with the animals and their owners. I love that they take you back to a private room with your animal to discuss the exam results. It feels way more personal than what I have experienced from places like Banfield. The vet tech showed me how to administer medicine orally to a cat since I am new to the cat world. Once again... I felt like they took time with me and answered all of my questions before leaving. I will be bringing my dog here for care in the future. These folks even texted me a follow up a couple days later to see how our cat was doing! I came into this hospital with a stray kitten that had just been attacked by a dog that was clearly injured and in need of urgent care. I told the receptionist near the double doors on the left exactly what had happened and that we wanted to keep the kitten and make her part of our family. Without any compassion, she coldly responded, "We don't take stray animals." I asked if there was any way the kitten could still be treated, explaining again that we wanted to keep her, but she repeated the same thing in an even more condescending tone, saying, "We don't take strays. I can give you the information to a shelter where you can drop off." I completely understand that policies exist and I can respect that, but there's absolutely no excuse for the lack of empathy and rudeness I was met with especially during such a stressful and emotional moment. I've brought my pets here for emergencies in the past, but after this experience, I'll be taking them elsewhere. I may have set my expectations too high, assumed we'd have a cat that was at the very least, cleaned up, wounds dressed. I'm not a veterinary pro, but I've experienced my share of epic cat fights and my goodness, my feline medical handiwork is expert compared to what I see (don't see) here. They offered x-rays and blood work, we declined opting to take kitty to our regular vet in Torrance. We weren't charged anything, that might tell me all I need to know. I've had to take my dogs to the hospital before, but this time was by far the best experience I've had, from the doctors and technicians to the follow-up phone calls. Everyone was a rock star. This was the second time my family and I brought Nana to this facility, and she needed to be hospitalized for four days. She was diagnosed with immune-mediated thrombocytopenia and was at high risk for hemolytic anemia, but thankfully she didn't require a blood transfusion. As of 22Oct2024, she is recovering well! From the start, Dr. Heather Elliott was not only professional and kind but also empathetic. When she learned about our family's history with the loss of our first dog to immune-mediated neutropenia, she took extra care to reassure us. We panicked when we heard that Nana's immune system was attacking her, but Dr. Elliott thoroughly explained that this situation was different and took the time to help us understand what to expect. This gave us a tremendous sense of peace and allowed us to trust her care for Nana without constant worry. Later, Nana was under the care of Dr. Erendira Amavizca and Dr. Dani Kobayashi, and I want to give them a shout-out as well. It felt seamless as if I was speaking to one doctor throughout the entire process--each of them was well-informed and provided consistent updates on Nana, making the transitions between them feel effortless. Dr. Erendira Amavizca always took the time to listen and address any questions I had during our calls. Dr. Kobayashi even took the time to visit me and my mom during our 1-2 hour visit with Nana. I did my best to set aside my anxiety and called to check on Nana 2-3 times a day. Each time, it was a pleasure speaking with everyone--I wish I could name them all. We love our dogs so much, and it's hard not to worry when they're unwell, especially since they can't communicate their pain. I was referred to VCA in 2021 my Shih Tzu Lily became ill and my family vet referred me Access and VCA after being denied the ability to take in Lily at Access I called VCA and was immediately granted the ok to bring her in. Being we were still in COVID mode I was only able to call in from the parking lot and with trust and faith release my baby to a nurse. I was advised a vet would reach out after an assessment was made and I would be provided with a quote and plan.... Within a few hours I was contacted by Dr. Waithe and with her love, care and expertise it was discovered our girl had Addison's disease... 4 years later with Dr. Waithes love and guidane our Lily was living her best life, we would make monthly visits for Lily's Porcorten injection and made a true connection with the Staff and Doctor Waithe, she was consistent on checking in with our family vet to make sure our girl stayed healthy. Our beautiful baby girl passed away on the morning of June 25th, she developed a cough suddenly and we rushed her to VCA because she began to show signs of distress.... I would have never imagined the outcome however I found comfort in knowing our girl led us to where she needed to be. We have been here 4 times; once when my puppy choked on a pig ear, once when she ate a balloon, once when she ate a bee and her face swelled up, and once when she ate a huge piece of her blanket. Each time, my dog received the best care I could have hoped for. Dr Amavizka and Dr Beard were fantastic, kind, and professional. My t cup Maltese (little less than 3 pounds) was almost 16 years old. She was healthy, able to walk, even run around the house fine until one Sunday, she could not walk or use her hind legs, she also did not eat much. I waited till 2 days and decided to take her to VCA Lawndale since they are pet emergency and should have better resources than my family vet (Vetco). I went in at 4 pm on Wednesday. The doctor examined her and asked to keep her at least 2 hours sedated to do x rays and full panel bloodwork. I came back home but did not hear back from them after 3 hours so I called and the doctor on the phone literally seemed to read off from her chart, reading off the blood work results, saying something about her back problem at L3/4 vertebrae. I am a pet parent who has degree in Math, who did not go earn veterinarian degree, and how am I supposed to understand what L3/4 is!!! There was no explanation and she said that she has many emergent cases so she was busy. I was thinking to myself, isn't my dog also emergent case? I hung up the phone and went to go pick up my dog. As I was waiting at the waiting area, I saw a very rude, unkind cashier person. When it was my turn to pay, I asked her about my dog's condition and her answer was, "I am just cashier getting your money, I have no idea." That got me upset and asked her to talk to someone about my dog's condition and raised my voice. Then, she asked doctor's assistant to come out with pain killer and explain. I had to search up while I was waiting to find out that my dog had IVDD, which was Intervertebral Disc Disease- the vet on the phone did not mention this. She read off white blood cell, gull bladder stone, etc that I did not understand clearly. The assistant came out to tell me to keep her in a cage and give pain killer. That was the only explanation I heard on that night around 10 pm and I asked the x ray & blood work results, but they told me that my family vet will receive in 24-48 hours, after vet at VCA is done with her shift. I also asked if those results can be sent to my email as well so I can search up her problems. After 2 days, there was no email and my family vet at Vetco did not even receive any. I called VCA to get the results then I received it then. They have not sent the result as promised. On that day after I received my result, I took my Maltese to VETCO and they could not open the x ray file that VCA sent over. I could not even open up to see the result. We were only able to see the blood work that VCA sent. My family vet wanted to redo the blood work since it's been 2 days since we went to VCA so that she can give more pain killer or anti inflammatory medicine. When they observed my pet, she had bruises on her veins right under her chin, above her arms, where VCA probably took blood from her. It was bruised so much that my family vet could not do another blood test at all. She explained the blood work that VCA sent over, thoroughly with sympathy. Then I understood finally what was wrong with my dog. Paying $1800 at VCA Lawndale on Wednesday night was a total waste for me. The vet at VCA did not sound sympathetic at all and read off the results instead of explaining. As a pet parent with 3 dogs, I would never ever go back there. My Maltese is now in heaven. I know that she was too old and too small but some type of sympathy with thorough explanations of my dog's condition would have given me some time to be prepared before I had to euthanize my dog. It was so painful for me to watch her suffer at her side for a week and 2 days since I took her to VCA. Until she died, I had to put neosporin on her skin where they drew blood and where it became such a big scab and bruises. With my dog gone now, my $1800 was a total waste and for my dog. I should have just taken my dog to family vet instead of going to VCA Lawndale. I would not recommend this place at all for the money that I paid for and the services I received. I really regret for taking my Maltese here....For any pet parent, please look for another place! read more

OMG!!!! HORRENDOUS!!!! Our cat was in major distress defecating and vomiting, heavy breathing tongue hanging out and salivating, dilated pupils. She was pacing around like someone ODing on something. She was fine just 2 hours earlier. I took her to VCA and they were quick to call for emergency intake "stat" $199. I described the symptoms to the "masked doctor" who prescribed x-ray, blood pressure test, blood work. A nurse brought me a form to sign for treatment 1,500 - 2,000!!!! I asked what the x-ray was for, and was informed "looking at heart, liver or kidneys". I said the cat was fine 2 hours ago, so I highly doubt there's any problem with those organs. Well... That lopped off $850, of worthless, money gouging treatment right there. I sat around in the designated room for say 30 minutes. I asked the nurse if I could see the cat, in order to determine if it had stabilized. I was told that I had to wait for the tests to be completed. This was ONE HOUR into me arriving. Now if you are checked in, under emergency status $199, I would have FULLY expected the blood pressure $169 to have been performed immediately, along with taking of the temperature. I waited for another 15 minutes and finally asked if I could see my cat now. I was escorted back. My cat looked better than when I had arrived. I asked that the blood pressure was, and was informed that "the results are being processed" ONE HOUR and a HALF and they didn't know the blood pressure results. My doctor knows within 2 minutes of intake. AMAZING. I asked then the bloodwork would be in. They were very non-committal and said could be as soon as 1/2 hour or 1 1/2 hours. Really? This is a publicly traded vet clinic and they don't know???? I highly suspected that the tests weren't even performed yet. I said, call me when the results are in. They told me that I COULD NOT LEAVE until the doctor discusses the results with me. I said "this is a verbal communication right"? What is requiring me to sit in the small room and wait for hours? They said it's procedure. I said, I'm leaving, you call me. They seemed frantic. Ten minute after I left I received a call from some form of management expressing their dismay over me leaving, and demanded I return. I called bull shit on them for REFUSING to provide any REAL diagnosis. They persisted and I finally told them I was going to SUE THEM. That changed the whole conversation and they told me to pick up the cat. I went back , got the cat, and asked them what the results said. They said they would not give them to me as I would not stay in the small room and wait. I STILL believe the tests were never run. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE price gouging. TWO HOURS and I knew NOTHING more than when I arrived. . This is for an emergency $$$$$. Hate to think how a normal visit would be handled. My cat is perfectly fine again, day after. Wiped out, but fine. If I stayed , I believe I would have been close to a $5,000 visit. That's just my opinion, but I'm usually right.
