I submitted a Loss Assessment claim related to an HOA emergency assessment, and neighboring State Farm policyholders within the same HOA submitted claims arising from the same assessment using the same HOA documentation. Their claims were approved, while mine was denied. Despite asking for clarification, I was not provided with an explanation that helped me understand why the outcomes were different. I have been a State Farm customer for decades and have always valued the service and relationship I had built with the company. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the claims process was extremely disappointing. Throughout the process, communication was unclear and inconsistent. I received limited updates, and at various points I was informed of a denial while additional information was still being requested or reviewed, which made it difficult to understand the actual status of my claim. My concern is not simply that my claim was denied. My concern is the lack of transparency, communication, and consistency in how the claim was handled. After many years as a State Farm customer, this experience was frustrating and disappointing.

After waiting more than three months for our claim to be resolved, I expected to speak with someone who would understand how frustrating and stressful this process has been. Sherry stated that she has worked in every department and is knowledgeable about the entire claims process. Because of that, I expected a higher level of professionalism, communication, and empathy. Instead of acknowledging the frustration that comes with months of delays and lack of communication, I felt that my concerns were dismissed. While I was trying to explain the repeated issues we've experienced and express how difficult it has been to get updates on our own claim, I felt that the conversation became confrontational rather than solution-oriented. A simple empathy statement or acknowledgment of the situation would have gone a long way. What was especially frustrating was that while I was actively speaking with her, she chose to direct communication to my husband by asking him to call the number she had texted from, rather than allowing me to finish explaining our concerns. This made me feel as though my questions and concerns were being ignored. Throughout this process, I requested callbacks from a supervisor on two separate occasions, and I also specifically requested one during my conversation with Sherry. I was told there was no supervisor available, despite our claim having been open for over three months without meaningful resolution. It is difficult to understand how a claim can remain unresolved for that length of time without access to supervisory assistance when requested. The lack of communication and accountability throughout this process has been incredibly frustrating. It should not take customers months of trying to obtain updates and answers regarding their own claim. However, the company has had no difficulty contacting us when it comes to collecting payment. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in customer communication, empathy, and escalation procedures. Customers dealing with insurance claims are often already under significant stress, and they deserve to be treated with respect, understanding, and timely communication.

He is a wonderful human being and has true compassion for people on a personal level. He is personally invested to help others. His career of being a State Farm Agent is more than just a job title. He is empathetic and knows what people need without them saying it. He is working 24/7 for his policyholders in the aftermath of the devastating storms that have hit central Illinois this week. Despite the fact that he has a wife and children who need him at home, he has stepped up and put in extra time and effort outside of normal business hours in order to personally get his policyholders' lives back on track and recover from the unexpected. I realize it sounds cliché, but he is the epitome of a good neighbor who helps people recover from the unexpected, in addition to everything else that is expected of a State Farm agent. I'm also proud of his time serving our country and putting his life on the line to fight for all Americans who need protection and are unable to do so for themselves. Thank you for your service, Mr. Jimenez. Now, the reason I am sharing this story is.... for the first time in 30+ years I have been a State Farm policyholder, I had to submit my very first fire claim ever. A catastrophe claim at that. Twice in 2 days, I have spoken to him on his personal cellphone outside of normal business hours. If you think about all of the people who have suffered damage from the storms, how many insurance agents are calling their policyholders from their personal cellphones on the weekend? I can tell how many. Not many. In addition to the fact that Axel personally cares about his policyholders, he also cares about human beings on a higher level. He is so kind and giving and compassionate, and I have personally experienced this first hand this weekend. I thank Axel for being a lifesaver and helping me get my life back on track. Please, if you have experienced any type of hardship this week because of the severe weather, and you have received help from your insurance agent, please take a few minutes to recognize them. They deserve it at the very least. Their leaders also need to hear the praise. At the end of the day, this is their job. This is how they make money to support their families. The people who lead these agents need to hear the positive words and praise about their agents who are on the front lines helping people change their lives for the better. I have a feeling these State Farm agents don't get the praise they deserve. Please take a few moments to thank your agent. They need to hear it. Thank you, Axel, for being a blessing to me. I was not at fault, but one of the axel's agents came out and graciously informed me and the woman involved that he's seen this 100 times and I'm definitely at fault. He was honestly being super unprofessional about it. Really had no business trying to point out any accountability at that time. I think he was trying to score some points with the young women involved, not really sure. Needless to say, they told me that my insurance company could reach out to them for the security footage of the incident. They never responded back to us with the footage. Go figure. I even showed up in person to ask about it to which they assured me Mr. axel would reach out to me (never happened). Fortunately, working through my own insurance, I was not found at fault of the accident. I guess this goes to show that despite "seeing this all the time" this team really doesn't know jack about who's accountable in an accident. If this epic display of professionalism and knowledge is what is to be expected when you are an actual customer for them, then I would just avoid this place like the plague. The other driver was also represented via State Farm. I was clipped by another driver as I started to "veer" over (not crossing the marked lines). It was a construction zone and the other driver had switched over to the turn lane and sped up to pass illegally. He was trying to leapfrog back into my lane. The other driver then tried to leave the scene. I had to pursuit him to get him to pull over. Because I said the word "veer", I was found to be at fault. I called "my agent" (Jim Spachman) to describe what had happened. He told me that there is/was nothing he could do to help. Like a good neighbor? More like the sleazy local bill collector!
