So this place has been a great place to shop for jewelry for as long as I can remember, I came here with my parents when I was young, and I have bought a lot of jewelry from Hayes, but my son was looking for a promise Ring for his Girlfriend. So we went in there I don't know the lady's name that helped us but she looked to be about 80, We told her he was looking for a yellow gold ring with some type of hearts and diamonds in the ring. Not Silver, Not white gold and definitely not a stone from her birth year because she don't like the color purple and she is a fan of the yellow gold. Well then that's all she wanted to show us from then on. White gold. Silver. And those damn purple stones. But then after 30 minutes or so in there my son finds a ring he wanted to THINK ABOUT and POSSIBLY come back and get it. We said no but thank you for your time and help being polite. She walked away but shortly came back over and proceeded to ask if the ring was a gift or if he was just going to give it to his girlfriend. He was confused so I stepped in and spoke up, I told her it was a Gift and he wasn't sure if he was going to buy it today, but once again thank you for all your help and assistance. She was very persistent on him to buy today But after telling her we wasn't buying today she got very hastily and got an attitude and walked off. She wasn't as pleasant when we left as she was when we walked into the store. My 18 year old son said if he was to return he would not deal with her and would not buy anything from her Because he didn't want her to make any commission from the sale. Not just because of the attitude but simply because the whole time we were there we had to keep telling her not that no not that color stone or gold.. Stopped by this Hayes Jewelry Store for the 1st time yesterday looking for the right Wedding Ring to upgrade to for my 20th Anniversary. This store offers a wide variety of diamonds and settings to choose from. I love how the owner didn't pressure you to buy anything or hassle you on a selling price for my current ring. Bruce was very friendly and did a fantastic job explaining about each diamonds information. The lady that was helping us was very attentive and patient with us as well. We really did appreciate that. Not feeling rushed, like you would normally feel if you were in a chain store in the mall somewhere. The prices seemed to be reasonable and comparable to other jewelry stores, for the quality of the diamond and settings you get. I loved how they did, have several larger diamond rings in stock 2.69ct+and larger, ....Which was what I was looking for...Lol..... Blown away by how rude Bruce was. Called a month ago and robin quoted me $500 for approx 39 grams of 14k when melt price was much lower than today. Bruce said $300 and wouldn't give me any explanation - repeated "that's what I'll give today" over and over. Huh? Melt value is $900 but regardless, why was i offered $200 more via phone from Hayes when gold value was much lower? Even if he didn't want to answer, he could at least have treated me decently. Honestly have never been treated so poorly. My family always went to Hayes - used to be a good experience. I'm glad my mom overheard him - we won't be customers any longer. read more

Wouldn't have given them the one star if I didn't have to. I am an early 30s blue collar adult with wife and kids. We are not rich, but we are comfortable. I only bring this up because I have been there SEVERAL times, I've lived in Lexington all my life, with many bad experiences. Today I was there for an hour, while everybody else in the store was helped even the ones who came in almost a half hour after I did. Well almost everybody, There was a young black dude there with his girlfriend who they couldn't find any time to help either. I could probably have let this slide if there wasn't so many of these occasions before. I guess I should have dressed nicer. The last time me and my wife went together, we told them we only had a couple hundred dollars to spend the store clerk went to go check on something and never made his way back.
