But 20 years later, and two years into retirement...she told me she wanted a diamond, and how could I argue. So on our last vacation, we stopped by a few jewelry stores in the mountains and she got her diamond. But we bought the ring at one place, and then found the band used in another. They were different sizes, so I took this new "collection" to Ring Master to see if they could make one ring out of them, in a single size. I tell ya, I am retired military, not retired Elon Musk. Haha, that means my family live very comfortably, but we don't have money just to throw away. When I walked into this place, I saw that they have a little bar set up with black label liquor for their customers. The old Sailor in me thought "uh oh...this is gonna cost me!" While I waited, I started thinking of how I was going to B.S. my way out of it, when I heard their pricing. But then Jeremy came out. This guy took his time with me. He established his credibility, and then took me through every detail of what had to be done. Then I thought "D__n, I like this guy and he seems very competent. I wish I didn't already know he was about to show me how they afford to have a free bar in this joint." After all of that, we got to it. I looked him in the eye, he looked me in the eye and we talked numbers. That was the biggest surprise of the day. He's not cheap, mind you (quality never is), but he was surprisingly reasonable. My internal value calculator said to me "self, you handsome devil, you will get quality work here and he just gave you a number that you can swing pretty comfortably." So I left him my wife's new rings, and also my Grandfather's pinkie ring and my old Navy ring that I wear daily (I had just lost 65 pounds, so my own rings needed resizing as well). I picked them all up yesterday and...yeah man...my instincts about this guy were right. All the rings were flawless! Hell, I never even knew that mine were supposed to shine, but man...not only did they fit again but the white gold on one and sterling of the other downright sparkled! The Navy ring even has a section where there is black paint outlining the silver anchors on the side and he went in and touched that up to make my 30 year old ring look brand new! The diamonds on my wife's band were rearranged to match up with the diamonds on her ring and...man oh man was she thrilled at the results of Jeremy's work! Then, when I was leaving, they told me to bring them back any time for free cleaning! I was just looking for a resizing and soldering together on my wife's separately purchased rings. I GOT three rings resized, repaired and detailed to perfection...for a number that did not kill me. Could I have just gotten resizing "cheaper." Probably. But I also could have told my wife "no" after she sported the Moissanite the young punk version of me bought her, for 20 years. Why do things if you aren't going to do them right? These guys do it right. HIGHLY recommended.

I have been a swiss timepiece collector for over 30 years, and wasn't really looking for a new piece but, after spending a little time walking through the store while my watch was being serviced. The thing that caught my attention while looking around was the wide assortment of non Rolex Swiss timepieces this jeweler offers. Along with the wide range of price points, from entry level to ultra high end. After getting my watch serviced and talking with the gentleman helping me, he showed me a few new watches, all beautiful timepieces. No pressure at all, we had a great conversation about swiss watches, and their dominance in the timepiece market overall. I looked at a couple stellar Omega and IWC pieces and then spotted the Tag in the case and it stood out to me. I have a couple Tags already and had not really thought about another one but, after our conversation and then going for lunch with my friend, I was still thinking about that Grand Carrera and we made a trip back to the store. I had contacted Gary Simon beforehand, and he was very open to me bringing things in to look. When i arrived, I was welcomed in, and Gary took his time looking at what I brought. I felt he was very open and honest, and made me a very fair offer. While he looked at things I poked around the shop and saw items he had found on deepsea dives from old sunken ships, and he was more than happy to tell me about them, and show me other items he had in the back. Great shop, nice jewelry + a bonus mini museum of found sunken treasures. They sell both men's and women's jewelry with a nice collection of watches and varying price points. The staff were friendly, and made me feel welcomed. I'd 100% do business here again and would recommend others check it out for either buying or selling jewelry. But then after 30 minutes or so in there my son finds a ring he wanted to THINK ABOUT and POSSIBLY come back and get it. We said no but thank you for your time and help being polite. She walked away but shortly came back over and proceeded to ask if the ring was a gift or if he was just going to give it to his girlfriend. He was confused so I stepped in and spoke up, I told her it was a Gift and he wasn't sure if he was going to buy it today, but once again thank you for all your help and assistance. She was very persistent on him to buy today But after telling her we wasn't buying today she got very hastily and got an attitude and walked off. She wasn't as pleasant when we left as she was when we walked into the store. My 18 year old son said if he was to return he would not deal with her and would not buy anything from her Because he didn't want her to make any commission from the sale. I have taken jewelry to Schiffman's in the past for cleaning and repair and been pleased with the…read morework, so I expected the same when I came in today to see about having a silver Tiffany necklace cleaned. I've had this necklace for 15+ years and while I recognize it isn't the caliber of most of the jewelry Schiffman's sells, it is very precious to me. It was mildly tarnished all over as pictured in the photo, as silver this pure doesn't stay clean for long. I was recently laid off and wanted to wear my necklace to a job interview. The red-haired sales girl -- I didn't catch her name -- actually turned her nose up at my necklace when I took it out. She did that judgy little exhale through her teeth and said "It's SO tarnished, I don't know if we can do it. If we can, in that condition it'll be a charge, let me see what the jeweler says" and took it to the back, then came back and said because of the "condition" it'd be $75 because they'd have to "really work" it on the polishing wheel and it would take a couple of hours. It genuinely was not even that tarnished, and a chain like this can't be put on a polishing wheel. You put it in cleaner and maybe a sonic bath. It was clear they just didn't want to do it, which was fine, but there was no reason to lie. I wasn't comfortable proceeding with the service after that. She said I could try getting a polishing cloth on Amazon until I got back on my feet. The whole exchange was insulting and left me crying. Like I said, this piece might be beneath them, but it is everything to me. I would have been more than happy to pay, but the attitude was entirely unnecessary. I took it to a different jewelry store nearby and wouldn't you know it, they put it in a sonic bath and cleaned it, free of charge, in about 5 minutes while I browsed. I will be going to that store for any future jewelry needs, while Schiffman's has ensured I will quite literally never set foot in there again. It costs nothing to be kind and can affect someone's opinion of you for a lifetime. Do better.
