Classy group of folks. Shout out to Scott, he took amazing care of me, my brother and friends. During a tough time, he stepped up to the plate and was just awesome to me. I will be back to this course and recommend it to everyone I meet or bring to Steamboat. The course is amazing! Nestled right in between the valley and as green as it gets! Friendly, understanding staff that put up with hack golfers like myself. I will be back to this course as soon as I possible can. Thank you so much Haymaker. You guys are a class act!

Gorgeous views & a very well kept course..love it here in Steamboat

The staff is rude, disrespectful and unreasonable. I wanted to leave after only a few minutes of dealing with them.

We were held up on the first three holes because there were players in front of us, totally acceptable. Let's talk about the person who has me on edge now every time I'm at this course. Our first impression of her was when we were waiting to tee off on the first hole, again we had players in front of us. We were parked in the appropriate area that is in the parking lot. This woman proceeded to park inches next to me in my cart to the point I couldn't get out of the cart. There was literally 20 other spaces open this was a bizarre and deliberate choice to make us uncomfortable. Back to our actual play. We had the 6 some that was actually a twosome breathing down our next the entire time despite again being held up by players in front a totally normal thing. On whole six. This frantic woman who intimidated me with her car earlier drove out and told us we were two holes behind and not playing at pace. We were in fact at pace for a course like this and on the literal next hole the players were on the green as we were at the tee box. We were so flustered and confused we couldn't enjoy the game. To there credit the man manning the pro shop was completely confused what the woman did, why she did it, and told us not to call in if we were being held up like the rude 6-2someone behind us did.

After 8 years of living in Colorado, my Mountain Golf experience was limited to a few trips up to…read morethe Evergreen City Course. Beautiful as the location is on a crisp morning, it's a bit of a dog track in terms of layout and conditioning. So, I was pretty excited on my recent trip to Denver that we had a tee-time up at the River Course. For a first experience of truly high-end Mountain Golf, this was a winner. Boy did we luck out - it was a perfect Fall day. Weather in the high-50's, Aspens were near peak-color, and the sky was crystal clear. Oh yeah - and I was smoking the ball on the range. I have as close to entirely positive things to say about the course as is possible. Stepping up to the first tee, a nice elevated look down over the fairway, it was clear that this is a beautiful location and a well designed and well maintained track. It's more of a resort-style course, so it is accommodating. While you can get into trouble if you stray too far, the fairways are generous and leave some margin for error. Overall, the course is fair - although there were number of holes I'd like to have a second crack at, since I might play differently with local-knowledge. The greens are fairly quick, and they are challenging. The super-star is the beautiful mountain scenery. The front nine is nice. There are some nice holes along the river, and a couple of cool elevated tee-boxes. #9 is a dramatic downhill Par-3 to end. The back-nine is off the hook. There were at least five awesome tee shots, including the fun (but frustrating) #16, and the magnificent #18 Par-5 to finish. The look down over Lake Dillon towards the range to the West is just beautiful. This is a fun place to play - and yes, the ball does fly at this elevation. If you are looking for a place to come and enjoy yourself, without driving yourself nuts, this is a good course. If you are visiting, this is easy to access, and it's a nice drive up from Denver. I believe that we also took advantage of a deal for Epic Pass (Vail Resorts - Ski Pass) Holders. $69 with a cart. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon.

The signs say this is a golf course, but it doubles as the world's largest free-roaming chipmunk…read moresanctuary. There are gopher holes everywhere, so watch your step unless rolling an ankle is part of your pre-shot routine. The greens somehow have more sand than the bunkers, which is especially confusing. At times it feels like you're putting out of a sand trap no matter where your ball lands. If you're looking for smooth greens, this isn't the place. If you're looking for wildlife and an overpriced zoo, you've found it.
