After hitting a deer somewhere in Montana on a Sunday night (heading back home to WA), I was towed to this little repair shop in Wallace ID. I left the truck not knowing a thing about this shop. To my surprise- it's a hidden GEM! Rich (the owner) and his team were professional, friendly, efficient, and even dealt with my fussy insurance company. Rich kept me updated every step of the way. My mom's new windshield split so she called on the 16th and within 24 hours she was leaving Haymans with a new windshield, completely covered by warranty, no fuss no muss. Rich got her right in and did a really great job. Personally, they've done a lot of work for me over the last couple of years--replaced a door window motor, an o2 sensor, a fuel filter, plus a handful of other repairs and replacements and they did a spectacular job for half the price of the local big name place. Mom also had her clutch replaced and hasn't had a single problem with it since. At this point, I wouldn't dream of using a different mechanic, as they're single handedly the best I've worked with. read more

During a recent visit to the Wallace area I ruined a tire on my side by side. Normally this kind of thing would have put a serious damper on the fun for at least a full day. Someone suggested I check with Hayman's before taking a trip into one of the large towns to the west. I though, not much chance they will have anything. When I arrived early in the morning, it took no longer than a couple minutes to be helped. Within less than ten minutes, the guy had found a used tire the same size, dismounted the destroyed tire, checked the rim to make sure I had not damaged it, mounted the replacement, found a leak, broke it back down, polished the rim to make sure he got a good bead, remounted, tested again and only charged me $20.00 Amazing company, if I could give them a high rating, I would. read more

These guys were great. We got stuck near Mullan on Lookout Pass, we got our heavily loaded Suburban towed about 10 miles into Wallace for a very reasonable $85 which included another car to shuttle our extra passengers into town at no extra cost. They were then able to get the parts we needed and have them installed in a couple hours for a fair price and we were back on our way. A really positive experience that could have easily led to days delay or worse if we got towed by rip off outfit like the one that recently charged my dad over $300 for a radiator hose. Wonderful staff, excellent service and very fair price! We were on an extended road trip when our van started making strange noises. We stopped at Hayman's to have it checked out. Not only did the mechanic diagnose the problem almost immediately, he put in a rush order for the parts and repaired our van within 90 minutes. And we were given a loaner car so that we could tour Wallace while waiting. Our mechanic also checked the tire pressure, antifreeze and topped off the windshield wiper fluid at no charge, so that we wouldn't have any additional problems on our trip. Both the mechanic and the receptionist were very kind, helpful and professional. Highly recommended! read more

Used them twice. First time was great. They fixed a broken Serpentine Belt in about 2 hours and we were back on the road and thankful that it was not a bigger problem, because when that goes, everything goes and it's easy to freak out and think that you are in much bigger trouble than you really are. Since the first time was a good experience, when a second vehicle on a different trip had problems on Lookout Pass yet again, I thought they would be a good choice. This time it was my transmission!!! They should have never touched it. They should have immediately recommended that I get towed to Missoula to have the pros at Jerry's Transmissions look at it/rebuild it. However, they took a full day to replace a front pump and with a bill of $600+ later, I drove away only to brake down again in St. Regis. Where I then decided to get towed to Jerry's instead of back to Hayman's. Luckily I had only paid them for half of the repair and was going to pay them the rest when I got home, but alas their repair did not work. They were kind enough to let the rest of my bill slide, but were not willing to give me a refund. I think they charge something like $65 or $70/hour for labor so a $10 part with 8+hours of labor becomes a ridiculous situation. VERY FRUSTRATING. At least they are out there in the middle of no where when you need them.... And with them, just to get towed off the pass, a few blocks away costs $135 ;( read more

I'm really sad this place has only one review with a semi-bad rep. I wish my local indy back home was as quality as them. Been in the area only a few months and into the shop only a few times but the receptionist, I feel so bad not knowing her name, knows me by name already. I have come to this shop for random odd jobs like replacing one tire at a time on a couple cars to removing stripped bolts and packing driveshaft u-joints. They give me fair pricing everytime and are more than accommodating to my out-of-the-ordinary requests for service. I will really miss having such an accommodating, fair and nice auto shop to work with. It's hard to find personal service like they offer these days. read more

Well here I go. My step daughter had a good things to say about the work she had done to her vehicle. Thought I'd try Hayman's out because they're like a small Mom and Pop place. Well now I regret it. 1st dropped of my Truck and even stood there while a mechanic diagnosed the problem, I said great while you fix this can you install these front shock I bought a while back. Yes! Next I went to drop of my Keys I asked are you going to fill out a work order, she said "No" I thought that was odd. I called the next day about 1pm to see if the truck would be ready to pick up. Mechanic said "No" that I did not call and tell them to order the part! I said what? Why did I need to Call....I got a tap dance round it subject. I told him the Night before get the cheapest one Mechanic said "OK" I got a call Truck was ready. Great did they install the shocks well I have to get back with you. "No" she said with a call back they're getting right on it. Phone call few minutes later shocks where the wrong ones. Well I was mad thinking if they would have started earlier they could just order the right ones and put them on. I paid my bill, mad about the inflated dollar amount on the marked part. Got home noticed the antenna was ripped loose from the top of my truck and nothing was said. I am so disappointed with their professionalism, Ethics and the way things are run. I would never recommend them for any maintenance or repairs on any Vehicle. Period the alternator does work well. read more
