If you want your child to play hockey, THIS IS NOT THE ORGANIZATION FOR YOU. The team mom on the 16u A Girls Travel Hockey team bullied my child so frequently, she ended up quitting. I have a recorded phone call of her admitting to bullying my child, and the Coach Tiki Tikhonov did absolutely nothing about it, and allowed the TM to continue to coach and be involved with the team. Not only was the team horribly ran and coached, they did a bait and switch when they received the full season fees ($2850). The removed HALF the games and are refusing any refund. My child participated in 14 games and 22 practices. A total of 36 events, compared to paid for 118 events. My child utilized 30.5% of the paid for games and practices, resulting in a total obligation to Piedmont Hockey Club, LLC of $869.25. A remaining refund due is $1,980.75 and the executive director, Ron, as well as Coach Tiki are refusing to do what is right. read more

Great place for kids to learn how to ice-skate, or spend quality time with the family during the free-skate times, with live music. It gets cold for the bystanders, so bundle up. Seating is limited to single benches along the side wall of the rink. Staff is friendly, and the instructors encourage and provide positive feedback to the kids; hence, we keep coming back. Does get busy on the weekends with ice hockey practices, doors keep opening and slamming shut to get to the other rink. read more

Love the new rink, which doubles the ice at Haymarket. While it has fewer amenities than other area rinks, the original was built by a dedicated group of hockey fans who wanted to provide ice for kids in the area after another rink closed due to winter storm damage some years ago. The entrance is tricky to find - I always use the Fosters Freeze building as my landmark to turn into the parking lot. The entrance is at the new rink, so keep driving through the lot and turn right into the other lot. Stick and shoot here isn't as popular at other rinks so your kids will get plenty of ice! read more

Haymarket IcePlex - Skating Rinks Near Me - Haymarket, Virginia

We were invited for a family day so decided to try it out. The location is extremely confusing to get to with gps and there are no signs so we ended up getting lost and just happened upon it. If you follow the signs to the Volvo repair center, you'll find it. The entry is a very small area where you obtain your skates and pay for the admission and skate rental. The biggest problem is there are not enough skates. You can pay for your admission but there is a chance that if you are skating on a busy day, they won't have skates in your size. My kids had skates but because there wasn't a size for me, my youngest had to sit out since I couldn't accompany him. Be prepared to dress appropriately since it is an indoor rink. I recommend coats and gloves. The other issue is that if you have a young skater, you will want to use the buckets as an aid. The problem is that there is a limited number of buckets and there are some kids that like to use more than one bucket so another reason my son was unable to skate. They have a snack vending machine in the sitting area and a drink vending machine outside (another confusing thing). We'll try another rink. read more

Overall good first experience. On the night my teens went, they had no problems using the Groupon to get in and rent skates; however, the ice plex announced closing early and closed the public skate about a half-hour earlier than their posted closing time, so I had to cut errands short and race to Haymarket to pick kids up earlier than anticipated. read more

Had a fun time at a recent public skate at the Haymarket Ice Plex. I had been once before when it first opened, but since then they added a brand new rink, which definitely improved the experience. Lobby is a little tight and process to get skates is a little bit confusing, thought the staff was helpful and very nice. Overall, had a great time with the kids and during part of the skate they lowered the lights and had a disco/electronic lightshow going on. The kids really enjoyed that. read more

This rink is a great addition to HAYMARKET, VA. This rink started as a temporary location while the prince william rink in Dale City, VA was being repaired. Built initially - primarily - by parent volunteers. The Ice Plex is now a permanent and they are in the process of building permanent locker rooms and everything else that makes it legit. Open Skate, skate rental, Stick n Shoot, House and Travel Hockey. I'm sure this will be a 5 STAR rating by the time they finish! read more

Don't bother with this place, if your not interested in hockey league. Rentals are limited seating is limited and the the whole atmosphere is incredibly unfriendly. Don't even bother if you need above size 12. Fire exits were blocked with particle board when we visited, major fire hazard. read more

My boyfriend and I took his daughters ages 3 and 6 for an open skate on the last day of winter break. It was packed! The main lobby is TINY so the line was out the door. It seemed like they had a decent selection of rental skates, but we all have our own so I can't speak to that. There isn't a lot of seating inside the rink itself so putting on skates was a bit of a circus, but it worked out. They have 5 gallon buckets for kids to skate with, which I'm not a fan of because you have to stack a few to make them an appropriate height and they encourage incorrect skating posture. The ice was great as long as you stayed off the wall. It had melted down a bit there and made it easy to get a blade caught. The public restrooms are co-ed which led to a discussion of girls vs. boys in the bathroom with the 6 year old so consider this your heads up! Overall, I'd recommend it since there isn't anything else in the area. We signed them up for Snow Plow Sam 1 so I'll update with a class review in a couple months. read more

While not the prettiest rink around, by far one of my favorites. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their youth hockey program has become one of the best in the region and they usually offer a decent amount of stick and shoots as well as public skates. They added new boards around the ice and rumor says a new sheet of ice and a building makeover is coming. The front office is very tight and not very neat, it was an 84 Lumber at one time so the doors do not accommodate hockey bags. Would also be nice to see more adult pick-up sessions and mite aged stick and shoots. read more

This is a terrible rink. It is so dirty you could get a disease from the bathroom. I don't think it has ever been cleaned. The ice needs to be replaced and the floor is a lawsuit waiting to happen. If that isn't reason enough to choose a different rink, the hockey program is run by a few parents (not professional hockey people like other rinks) and choices for teams reflect the "in clique" and not ability of the skaters. It be should be neighborly but some of the Coaches are rude (we heard lots of cussing in front of the kids) and some were too busy with their phones. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. read more

First appearances leave a lasting impression. Lobby area is not like any of the other area rinks and while small that is no excuse for looking dirty and unorganized. Watched a game and noticed the area under the bleachers is a giant trash can you would think they would have some Pride and clean it. Took my daughter to what they call a restroom not sure if they ever clean them. Checked out their website and not very up to date, clicked on news and last posting was 2011, again another example of how Not to run a business. Overall not a very well run business, no advertising, no sign so people can find it, not sure they are trying to turn a profit or just a hobby for those that are in charge. Not sure who is putting up all the money for the second rink but I hope they run it better than it is being run now and if same folks are in charge how will it look in a year, dirty and run down??? It's a shame cause the area can use a well run ice rink. read more
