We were in town for a wedding and stayed here for a couple nights. I'd say it's more of a 3.5 rating. While I considered rounding up for the breakfast offerings, I'm rounding down because I didn't have the restful stay that I was hoping for. Pros: - clean hotel with complimentary continental breakfast - decent breakfast spread - scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a protein were served each day. There was pork sausage on one day and bacon on another. There's also a DIY waffle maker, cereal station with a few dispensers, and oatmeal bar with a mix of toppings to add in. On Sunday, there was also French toast sticks (these were dry but you can drown them in syrup). On Monday, instead of French toast sticks, they had hard-boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Both days also had a basket of apples and bananas (the bananas looked much more appealing than the apples). They had a good condiment section (jellies, butter, peanut butter, cream cheese, Nutella, etc.). I also liked that they had salsa and shredded cheese for the eggs. There was also a fridge of milk and yogurt, a juice machine, and coffee and tea station, which included flavored syrups. They do take the coffee away after breakfast, but there is a coffee maker in the room. - room had a microwave and mini fridge, iron and ironing board, and hair dryer. No safe. - fitness center and pool are included amenities. There was also a computer in the lobby for their "business center" - luggage carts were easily available - plenty of parking available - good location near several shops and other shopping areas Cons: - check-in is at 3pm. We came around 4:30 pm and the room (executive suite) was still not ready. They estimated a 45-60 minute wait. We debated unloading the car, sitting in the lobby and waiting, but decided to leave and check out the shops nearby. The hotel didn't offer anything for the inconvenience, only their "apologies." - Super uncomfortable beds! I did not get restful sleep at this hotel. I felt like I was sleeping on a cot (it's not ~ I checked... but you could have fooled me...) - minimal toiletries available. Aside from the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner pumps in the shower, the only toiletries on the counter were one make-up remover wipe and a cleansing bar. No lotion, supplemental facial soap, mouthwash, etc. - water from the water station in the fitness center tasted stale - front desk staff was not super present. Whenever I was in the lobby, the front desk space was often vacant. We didn't have any issues to address, but staff did not seem very accessible The property is nice overall and the facilities are clean. Call it a princess and the pea scenario, but these beds are not for me. read more

We've been coming to the DC area for about 4 years now because our daughter moved here. We usually stay in Manassas and have been miserable but she bought a house in Gainesville so we wanted to give it a try. So credibly glad we did. It's like night and day between the 2 areas. This will be our go to hotel from now on. Service was excellent, the room was gorgeous and the facility is very nice. Breakfast was so good each morning we even tipped our breakfast lady because she was amazing!!! High recommend and have you ever stayed at a hotel that had a walk in closet? We had not until now! We were in Gainesville for my sons 8th birthday. We took him to a concert and decided to book a room last minute. After the concert it was wonderful to be able to just show up and get checked in. I booked using the app as I always do. The front desk concierge (middle aged woman) was very sweet and helpful. We were looking for some late night restaurants and she pointed us in the direction of the ihop. Upon returning she welcomed us back and asked if we needed anything. She also reminded us about the complimentary breakfast and other on site amenities like the gym and pool. The room was cute and exactly what we needed for the evening. We did not need late check out because they already offer a 12noon checkout time. Nice quiet hotel stay. We were also able to book under the government rate. read more

We arrived for a wedding on Sat. Oct 7th at 3pm. There was a flurry of activity in the lobby as one wedding was leaving and we were all arriving. Our room was not ready, which was disappointing, until the front staff explained that lots of the folks from the other wedding requested late check-out, and they were cleaning the rooms as fast as they could. With all the confusion, the staff handled everyone with patience and politeness. The next day, my parents needed to move to the other zero entry handicapped room (307) that was occupied by a wheelchair user the night before. (my wheelchair user brother was in the other room, 209). The staff went out of their way to help them move all of their belongings to the new room. That was extremely helpful. The rooms were very comfortable all the way around. the only weird thing was the fridge only had an "on for 2 hours" button, or "off for 8 hours" button. We had to keep our cold stuff in the cooler for fear the fridge would turn off in the middle of the night. Of note: Saturday night we were all at a sit-down dinner in the dining area for a rehearsal dinner. All of the doors were open. We were listening to the groom's mother give a speech when the crew decided to clean the ladies room. We heard all the flushing of the toilets as each was cleaned. The girl standing at the entrance saw we were all in the other room and did nothing. And I would like to give a shout-out to Neesa the bartender. She was all by herself when about 40 people descended upon her for drinks at the bar. She stayed cool and steady the whole time. read more

Room looked and smelled clean for the most part. Friendly hotel staff. Nice lobby. Great location for shops and food. HOWEVER....this bed. What in the entire world is going on here. This was the lumpiest bed I have ever seen at a hotel. In the pictures, this is EXACTLY how the bed looked before I even touched it. Sloppy, and lumpy. When I went to pull the sheets back, it's as if the duvet had been dried and clumped up in certain spots. I think that was what made the ridges on the bed. It was very uncomfortable to feel on my legs at night. Also, when I sat on the mattress, it was so boxy and hard I could have sworn I was sleeping on a box spring. Going to have to go see a chiropractor when I get home it was so terrible. Not good for my lower back at all. Luckily I was dog tired so i was able to fall asleep fast but otherwise I would have been tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. Terrible!!! The sleeping comfortability is a top priority for me when I go to hotels so unfortunately, although the other things as far as cleanliness and size of the room, as well as staff weren't bad, it's overshadowed in my eyes by this terrible mattress and presentation. read more

I am dinging this place for two reasons: 1. My husband booked a king, we show up and the clerk put us in a double. Clearly we are together. Why not ask and verify? So we were in a nice room with two double beds. 2. They did these modern upgrades and left the loud AC. It can literally wake you up if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise this place is super solid and we would return to this place. Great location lots of shopping and restaurants around this area. We stayed because we thought we were gonna see the back street boys last night. Mother Nature said nay nay! So bummed the day started beautiful so I was pretty optimistic and it just got worse and worse:( needless to say the show was cancelled. 5/17/21 It has been a while since setting foot inside a Marriott hotel. During these times with the Coronavirus Outbreak going about, new things have gone into place that I wanted to see for myself. I learned that rooms that are occupied for more than three days get an automatic cleaning, but if not, you can specify what service needs to be done. Housekeeping you might see less and less of, bit they are around. I liked seeing the king suite and especially the new recycling bin that is in each room. Not sure how this plays out on the housekeeping carts, but this is a plus for me. I liked the walkin closets I saw. It is almost big enough for an adult to sleep in. The sheets of the bedding look better than the ones I saw in Courtyard Marriott in Washington DC. I liked the gray flooring better to. The small bar/sitting area outside can be used for lounging or drinking (Marriott Alcohol Drinks Only) outside. You may bring your non alcoholic drinks with you to the lounge/sitting area outside if you like. The bar opens at 4pm till 10pm. Breakfast on the weekdays are from 6:30am till 9:00AM and 7AM to 9:30AM on weekends. The breakfast is buffet style with the options of eatting down stairs or back in your room. You can use the dolly to bring your food back to your room, but most people will just carry their items with them. The pool and gym can be used, but at a select amount of people. To get a gym or pool card, you will need to get it at the front desk. This new method has changed because if The Coronavirus Outbreak. Days of using your key card are gone...for now...maybe. This hotel looks very nice and if I do end up coming back here for my vacation, this is where I want to go to. I would like to say thank you to Dan who made this experience wonderful. Would stay again! This place is nice and new, clean, and has modern rooms. It's a bit pricey- $192/night for the room I had. Plenty of parking around back (BJs side). The staff at the front desk was friendly and expeditious. I didn't try the breakfast but they do have one! The gym was well appointed and clean. It's *super close* to Jiffy Lube Live so I highly recommend this place if you're coming into town for a concert. read more

Let me start by saying that this isn't the Springhill Suites of old. Marriott has revamped this brand of hotels, or at least this one has been. Sleek and modern are the first adjectives that come to mind when you walk through the lobby. The room was quite impressive for what used to be a rather low end of the Marriott brand. No I'm not saying Waldorph Astoria, but comparable to a classy hotel on this level. My coworkers chose this hotel due to the close proximity of multiple dining establishments which is an added plus. My room was nicer than I ever remember a Springhill Suites room being. Check out the photos. The only downside this trip was that my next door neighbor snored loudly which is no fault of the hotel. Other than that I was comfortable during my entire stay. Staff was Uber Friendly and Helpful! Will definitely stay here again when working in he area. read more

I'm at this hotel as I write this review. It's midnight on a cold November night and room 315 has no heat since I checked in at 10. I called the front desk, Audrey states she has to reset the system and it takes awhile. I call back down 3 times after another 30 minutes of no heat since they reset it and they refused to answer the phone. Called a 4th time and was told they are too busy to answer phone. They knew the heat wasn't working when they assigned the room. They dont perform quality checks on the rooms, they expect the guests to do that. Its an inconvenience to switch rooms at midnight. At over 215.00 a night it would be decent to provide heat for guests so we dont have to sleep with layers and hoodies on to stay warm until checking out in the morning. I knew I should have gone to the Hilton in Haymarket. Its been awhile since I stayed at a Marriott brand due to consistent issues and I believe I will keep it that way. Do yourself a favor and go to the Hilton in Haymarket. They take care of their properties and guests; and they have heat read more

This hotel was fabulous. We went down to visit family for Christmas and stayed here for three nights. The room/suite, which had 2 queen beds and a trundle bed, was beautiful. It's located near lots of shops, a movie theater, and restaurants (Uncle Julio's is great). Beds were comfy, trundle bed was cozy too. We put it on top of the couch to make it more like a bed. Shower was fantastic- no crappy water pressure! Breakfast is served from 6:30-9:00, and had nice options and good coffee. I used the fitness center which was up to date and had good equipment. I didn't use the pool, but it was a smaller pool mainly for doing laps; not swimming and playing with the kids. Staff was very friendly as well. Housekeeping had found a ring in our room and left it on the dresser after making up the room. It wasn't ours, must've been left by a previous guest, but good to know that amid the bad rap of some hotels' staff, this one's is trustworthy. This hotel is nicely updated and very modern. The location is perfect, located in the shopping center with plenty of restaurants and things to do. I had a great experience here. When I checked in I was checked into a handicap room because it was all that was available. Wendy and Beth were very helpful and ensuring that I was able to move into an alternate room the following morning. The room was very spacious and had a walk in closet. There were three people sleeping in the room and each of us had our own beds (2 queens and a pullout) with room to spare! The room was very clean and also came equipped with coffee maker, microwave and a refrigerator. You can't beat free Wi-Fi and a free hot breakfast. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely stay again if I were in the area. read more

This Marriott hotel was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were clean, the customer service was great, and the breakfast was definitely nice. Nice touch with the waffle station! Have to especially say that Rosario was great with helping me out when getting breakfast, and Andre was super with just getting whatever you needed and more. Also, Wende was so nice when assisting us with check-in. Would definitely come back again for a staycation, to see a concert, or just to relax. Hope to try out the pool next time. The only vendor who consistently stressed the bride or the family was quite literally the front desk personal at this Marriott. They were rude. Constantly. Impossible to work with. This is a newer hotel so there will be some things that need worked on but overall great hotel. The customer service is fantastic. I had an issue where I booked a non-smoking room and one night kept smelling cigarette/cigar smoke. Called down to front desk and they came up right away helping get rid of the smell and the next day they made sure to clean the air vents. They offered another room if the smell did not go away. The water temperature in the bathroom is not the hottest (granted i take super hot showers). The breakfast doesn't give much options. You get eggs every day and then rotates from sausage and gravy, turkey bacon, and pork sausage, cereal, oatmeal, and fruit. But not all the same day (except cereal, oatmeal) Wish there was a bigger breakfast selection. read more

The front desk attendant "Kristen" was so terribly rude when checking in, I almost cancelled my reservation. We booked a room a month in advance which was also paid in full. Kristen claimed I had to use another credit card to charge me again since I didn't have the original card. We had even called earlier to verify whether we needed the original card. The manager of the hotel saw that it was already paid in full so she kept apologizing for the attendant saying Kristen was in training and didn't understand what she was doing. The attendant never apologized and was agitated that she was wrong. She just walked away leaving the manager to work with me. If it wasn't for the manager, we would have been charged twice 400.00. When we reserved our room we specified we had to have a bathtub as we had a handicap person. Room didn't have a bathtub. We had asked for a different room and were told all rooms with a tub were booked. Fridge was super tiny. No door to use the restroom so no privacy there and couldn't lay in bed to watch TV due to lay out of the room. Will never stay again. read more

This is a new hotel. It is centrally located and in walking distance of various shopping and dining options. We stayed December 30, 2017. The staff was unbelievable! We had a lot of overseas guests for our wedding and we arranged for a room block at the Springhill Suites Marriot. We had really good communication from the management at the hotel of what we needed and what they needed to make it as simple a process as possible. They confirmed to us who had booked and let us know in advance when one of the booked rooms wasn't filled (The person was not able to come). The communication from them was great and we knew exactly what was going on at all times. When we needed to make some changes we were able to do so easily and with no hassle. The room stay itself was wonderful, they were very helpful in arranging everything we needed and helping our overseas guests feel welcome in the US. The surroundings were great with a bar for the after party and plenty of shopping for when our guests wanted to relax. We're certainly going to use the Springfield Suites Marriot next time we have guests arrive. read more

I'm a platinum member but it was upsetting to only get the 4th floor (room 420) this weekend. The real kicker was that we called the front desk about a terrible stench coming from the microwave area. The guy found a cup of urine behind the microwave. Absolutely disgusting!! Must have been a disgruntled housekeeper because we only had one coffee cup. Also the bed felt cold and damp, not sure what to think. read more

Executive Suite was not a suite, it was a hotel room. As others have said, this is a nice, clean, new hotel. But a "suite" is supposed to be two rooms (a main room and an adjoining bedroom). In many suites there is also a small kitchen area. So I just want to warn my fellow business travelers that you won't be getting what you're paying for. The hotel apparently defines this average size hotel room as a "suite" because it has a 4 or 5 foot room divider separating a desk from a bed. It is not a suite, and they should not advertise (and charge for it) as if it were. read more
