Let's start with the good: The hotel team are friendly and thoughtful. The Manager, Brian, even allocated a dining room to me to take a long meeting, which was just awesome. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is charming. They are clearly leaning in on the old school vibe, and we were digging it. Considerations: The old elevator is super cool and vintage, but we took it only when required with luggage. Neat experience but made me nervous every time I used it. YMMV on this one! The hotel could use some upgrades and modernization which would mix old with new: Many switches with no connected lights, upgrade of in room phones and rework of electrical outlet options. The back steps are a bit steep, but it was not at all a problem for me and my husband on the 2nd floor. Finally, the location is terrific. Greensboro is not large, and staying downtown gives you access to all the areas. Biltmore is in an awesome spot. Try Natty Greeen's and Cheesecakes by Alex! They're literally around the corner. In summary: The hotel could use some freshening but it is super clean. The staff and vibe is very cool, and location is pretty great overall (down the block from Natty Greene's!).

My room contained a lovely four poster bed, wall full of windows and antique furnishings, as well as more modern amenities like a flat screen TV and coffee maker. The best part, though, is the fact that the location of this hotel is right where you want to be, steps away from all the food, coffee and bars on S Elm and a two block walk to Amtrak. There's a wine hour (and the gal at the front desk even offered to bring some out after I missed it) as well as breakfast (also missed that). I can't imagine staying elsewhere when in Greensboro.

We were seated promptly and had a very attentive waitress. They had just launched their spring menu and I feel that it had a good amount of pairings and different offerings. I was excited about the drink menu, but I felt let down by my drink. It was supposed to be a apple butter old-fashioned but I didn't taste any apple. That was a bummer the food however was amazing. I got the breakfast plate with grits, eggs, Home fries, a biscuit, and catfish. The portion size was huge. It could have easily been split with two people. I was thinking it would be a full piece of catfish, but it was more like catfish nuggets. It was well seasoned and flavorful. The best thing on the plate was the grits. They were amazing. They were super creamy, seasoned, velvety, and just great-10/10. They do offer tours of the property and we didn't get one because of time, but I would definitely love to see it in its entirety. He was there every day making sure everything was perfect and continually went above and beyond to make our stay feel special and personal. The Manor itself is absolutely charming -- creative, warm, and filled with character. Everywhere you looked was a feast for the eyes, with thoughtful details and beautiful touches throughout. Now that my niece has graduated, we technically have no reason to visit High Point anymore -- but honestly, a return trip would be worth it just for another stay at the Manor. It felt less like staying somewhere and more like being part of something truly special.

My husband and I were scheduled to stay here last night for a small intimate wedding…read more Unfortunately, because of the snow storm we decided to leave late into the night to make the 5 hours trip but this was such an amazing experience in every other way. The home is cute and up to date in the small little town of Madison. It is the perfect location to their Main Street where our friends wedding was. The couple that own the home are so friendly and overly accommodating. They went out of their way to make our few hours there perfect. We arrived early in the morning so we could see the town and do a little shopping. Our room was ready by 10:30 when we called. We were greeted by three friendly cocker spaniels, who get to roam the house freely which should be noted if you aren't a dog person or are allergic but we didn't mind. We had the opportunity to choose the room we wanted (I am totally blanking on names right now) and we're offered the larger bathroom since we needed to get ready for a wedding. We decided on our original room for the space. Everything was clean and had that "mommas house" smell. The one where the linens are freshly pressed and the towels are hot out of the dryer. We made some small talk and were offered a tray of water and some fresh fruit! We were also given food advice as we were starving from our drive and we ended up at Fuzzys bbq. Her husband, John, was just as accommodating. He offered coffee, bottled water and several snacks for our trip home! They were so kind and I highly suggest supporting this couples BnB. If we ever get the chance to go back we def will!

We did not know much about the area, or the history of the house. The hosts were wonderful and so very accommodating. They provided lots of detail of what is available in the area and details on the house history. We were able to tour every room. I asked where they placed the Christmas tree, as this cozy, inviting place would be perfect around the holidays. Turns out, they place several trees. Also, would consider a late spring/summer stay as there is a beautiful backyard with in-ground pool. Look forward to future stays.

It does note that each of those cities is about an hour and a half away. I cannot imagine why you would consider staying here if you were doing anything in either of those two cities. These seem to me much more suited to the nearby NC Zoo or one of the natural areas in the region.) I appreciate that everything is on one level (no sleeping in a loft where you crack your head sitting up in bed) and that the bathroom is surprisingly large, particularly the shower. There is a single sink, so kitchen and bathing uses are combined into one facility. I guess one of the casualties of this design is any comfortable seating space to read, etc. There are two wooden chairs at the small desk/table, but the only suitable place to read indoors would be the bed (which has a firm but comfortable mattress). The outdoor space is nice provided the weather cooperates. Other cabins are close enough that you can probably hear incidental noise, but people are far enough away that you should get peace and quiet unless people in a neighboring unit get out of control. There's a peaceful pond with a path around most of it. Having walked the compound, I think it would be worth it to pay the nominal extra amount for one of the "view" cabins that would overlook the pond. The zoo is very close by, and downtown Asheboro is about 10 minutes away.

The wood paneling, tapestries in the lobby are amazing. While I didn't experience the afternoon tea I walked through the lobby when it was in full bloom and it looked tremendous. I would absolutely come back to the O Henry and highly recommend the experience.

The lobby is a beautiful turn-of-the-century throwback, complete with afternoon tea, and the suite itself is enormous. The real standout is the people. The entire staff was warm and attentive, and the bellman gave us that true five-star welcome that so many hotels have forgotten. This team clearly cares about their guests. Unfortunately, the room itself did not live up to the price point, which was around $600 a night for our suite. The furniture is dated, which I could accept as part of the charm, but the jets in the tub did not work, and that was a real disappointment since a great soaking tub is one of my wife's favorite things about a hotel like this. The bigger issue was the AC unit, which made loud noises all night and slammed on and off so hard it sounded like someone was coming through the wall. Neither of us slept well. I raised it with the front desk and they were gracious and offered to make it right and they comp the entire stay. Not necessary, but outstanding customer service! I'm genuinely glad we experienced this unique property once, and I hope the maintenance catches up to the hospitality, because the team here deserves it. At this rate, though, we won't be back.
