The value is amazing and the interior is SO beautiful. For 2-person seating you're sat against a wall and the chairs are facing the interior of the room instead of straight across from each other which is more relaxing. We loved our teas and as usual the food is very filling even though it just looks like a small amount of tiny little treats! It's hard to find a good afternoon tea at this price point (actually it's the first I've ever come across) and even though it's in kind of a random area of Greensboro it's totally worth the excursion. read more

Amazing service. From the time we arrived everyone was super friendly and helpful. When we discovered that someone had left something in the refrigerator in our room that had spoiled, they got right on it and had switched out the refrigerator before we could get done with cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, the Green Valley Grill is attached which is also a top recommendation. After I left, I thought I had left my most cherished necklace. They immediately sent management to our room for a thorough check. I travel every month and all over the world and I have to say that the level of service we received at the O'Henry is one of the best. The hotel has its own unique, old-world vibe. Heavy woods, dark colors yet charming. They do "teas" in the lobby and the seating areas both inside and outside are cozy and comfortable with classical music so you find people all around reading books and enjoying being together. I also like the way they converted a nook in the bathroom for a bench with drawers and that there was a sink inside and outside the bathroom making it easier for multiple people to get ready. I've done high teas in the LA area for quite some time, some good and some bad and always usually pricey. I couldn't believe the deal I saw here. $22 and I couldn't even finish it, the quality and amount they gave you was a great surprise to me. The place was truly like being in the past, enjoying high tea with friends. They had classical music playing and the service was amazing. They treated us so well. We enjoyed a herbal pumpkin tea that was delicious, and their lemon curd and clotted cream was on point for an English experience. My wife and I stayed one night in a king suite as a halfway stop on a drive to Virginia, and there is a lot to love about this place. The lobby is a beautiful turn-of-the-century throwback, complete with afternoon tea, and the suite itself is enormous. The real standout is the people. The entire staff was warm and attentive, and the bellman gave us that true five-star welcome that so many hotels have forgotten. This team clearly cares about their guests. Unfortunately, the room itself did not live up to the price point, which was around $600 a night for our suite. The furniture is dated, which I could accept as part of the charm, but the jets in the tub did not work, and that was a real disappointment since a great soaking tub is one of my wife's favorite things about a hotel like this. The bigger issue was the AC unit, which made loud noises all night and slammed on and off so hard it sounded like someone was coming through the wall. Neither of us slept well. I raised it with the front desk and they were gracious and offered to make it right and they comp the entire stay. Not necessary, but outstanding customer service! I'm genuinely glad we experienced this unique property once, and I hope the maintenance catches up to the hospitality, because the team here deserves it. This review is for the cocktail and jazz event that they do on Thursday evenings! I absolutely recommend coming for a fun date night or with friends. The event is free which I think is amazing - you just might want to bring cash to tip the musicians! The jazz was great and super entertaining. We got there a little later and it was packed but the host was super nice and found a spot for us where we could still see the performers. There's also another room where they have a speaker set up so you can still hear the music and have a full booth if you want. My cocktail was delicious - I had a blueberry spritz. We also ordered appetizers from their jazz menu - chicken skewers, sliders, and Muhammara (which I've never had before) and it was delicious! They are small plates so they're not big but the prices aren't bad. The food was really good - the muhammara was absolutely delicious. At first they didn't give us a lot of pita but we asked for extra because there was so much dip & they were happy to give us a basket of warm pita. I had the pure pleasure of attending the Nutcracker Holiday Tea with my daughter and granddaughter on Sunday. It was so lovely. The decorations were pretty and the snacks very tasty. There was a reinactment of the Nutcracker by dancers. Caroling, ornament making and assisting with making a Gingerbread house. My 8 year old grand daughter loved every moment of this event and so did I. There was also a story time and the read Nutcracket book was read. And they gave parting gifts of gingerbread cookies and jewelry to everyone. Lastly, they had a raffle that I did not win lol but, it was still fun to be a part of it. Tea arrives with quaint vintage individual tea pots, and you'll see a variety of charming patterns at your table. I highly recommend the Paris tea, lightly spiced with hints of caramel and vanilla. I came here for their Cocktail and Jazz night. It's awesome that the hotel offers these shows for free every Thursday. The place is pretty packed for the event. If you want a good seat you either have to get lucky (like I did), come early, or wait until the 2nd set around 8 o'clock when people start to leave. The music was great! It's rare when I get to hear live Jazz in Greensboro so it's awesome that they have these events weekly. The food and drinks were good too. They only have small plates for the performance. I could probably eat 3 plates for myself if I was hungry (FYI the food in the pics are half eaten). The prices weren't too bad either considering how good the food is and the location. Stayed at O Henry as part of a wedding party and everything was beautiful. Such a relaxing atmosphere and we all had zero complaints. The cherry on top was the incredible afternoon tea. The interior was lovely, the tea waitress was knowledgeable and friendly, the scones were out of this world delicious, the seasonal tea specials were so flavorful. And all of this for $25. Around my city, all of this would have been closer to $150. Take advantage of tea time! It's probably the best thing to do in Greensboro. We made one of our regular sojourns to the O. Henry for their wonderful tea, which has become a holiday tradition, including family photos in front of their beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The teas were delicious, including the seasonal holiday tea, the scones continue to be the best I have ever had, the seasonal quiche (won't give it away) worth ordering extra, and staples like the chicken salad filo tart never disappoint -- and leave one wanting more. The staff here are all great, and professional and owners of the hotel. The food is above average to very good...try the mashed potatoes but stay away from the French toast which is my only complaint. Besides that this a great place to visit and stay with large rooms and comfortable beds. heads up, this review is for the afternoon tea. i've never stayed at the hotel as i used to live in greensboro briefly. my parents still live here so when i visit gso i stay with them. :p i actually have been here for tea more than once -- one time before i liked tea and this time since i've become a huge tea enjoyer. the first time, i still very much loved it. i liked trying all of the savories, sweets, and the scone from the light afternoon tea. i didn't try a lot of the actual tea as, for some odd reason, i thought all tea tasted like grass (rolling my eyes at my former self now). it was also cool that they brought everything out on a three-tier plate; i mean who wouldn't think that was cool?! the inside of the place, being a hotel, feels like a regal one that you would see in the likes of the movie home alone. the service is always lovely, too. this time around, about two years later, we decided to come back. in the last year, i've gotten very "into" tea. i drink it a lot and i love trying new ones... so i was happy to hear when the o.henry had seasonal teas to go with the o.henry tea, which is their largest afternoon tea of the three total that they offer. i got their holiday spiced black tea which included cinnamon and orange peel. of all the teas i tried, this one was my favorite. the other people i attended with got the chocolate chai and the other holiday tea, which tasted like a redhot candy. onto the actual noshes. each sweet and savory are about a bite or two big. usually, when i have afternoon tea, i eat in the order of 1) savories, 2) scone, and 3) sweets. so let's start with the savories: the o.henry tea includes an open-face cucumber finger sandwich, a mini ham, brie, & fig croissant, smoked salmon on a mini crumpet, a tea quiche, and a chicken salad tart made with filo dough. these were all delicious, my favorite ended up being the chicken salad tart. onto the scone, which was vanilla. it was soft with a wonderful outside crust, not too hard or crunchy. the scones come with real clotted cream which is a plus (a lot of places do not use legit clotted cream nowadays) and lemon curd. they are perfect on this scone and enhance the vanilla perfectly. lastly, the sweets. the menu doesn't specify what they are, it just says "assorted sweets." there is a mini cheesecake, a macaron, a slice of cake covered in strawberry jam and coconut, and a molasses cookie. i believe the sweets left more to be desired, to be honest. since the menu was not descriptive of the sweets, i got worried when i saw the cheesecake. i couldn't tell if it contained raspberries or blackberries. i am very, very allergic to blackberries. i flagged down the waitress and she informed me that the cheesecake had raspberry filling, thankfully, but if the menu had just told me what sweets were available it would've saved me the anxiety. i think of the sweets, i liked the macaron and the cheesecake most. the molasses cookie had way too much molasses. the jammy cake was only okay, partially because i just don't like coconut shavings. overall, i had a wonderful experience. the service was good, we had a very nice waitress who was very accommodating with all of the different kinds of teas we ordered. the savory food was fantastic and the sweets were still good even though they were not my favorites. the tea itself was top tier in my opinion, i would come here just for a pot of it. i do recommend afternoon tea at the o.henry! read more

I have never done high tea but had always wanted to. When my friends decided to visit from out of town, we were excited to try it out together! First of all, the price is fantastic! There are others I've seen that are between $50-80, and this was about $20 and we felt like we had a great experience. There is no dress code although the setting feels high-end in the lobby with an elegant and Victorian feel. I'm not personally a big tea drinker, but they offered a strawberry kiwi flavor that basically tasted like warm juice when you add some sugar cubes in. We enjoyed all of the desserts and snacks and got the highest end selection. It was a good amount and we all finished ours without feeling like we wanted more. I haven't had the opportunity to stay here yet since I am local but I've attended several events as well as ate at Green Valley Grill and it's always a good time. Most recently I attended the Thursday night Cocktails and Jazz events and they were great. It's a smaller intimate setting so be sure to get there early to secure seating. There's a small appetizer menu that you'll find something you'd enjoy. The drinks and bartender staff are amazing and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend as a cozy night out with friends, a romantic outing for couples, or a solo date. Either way, you'll enjoy all the OHenry has to offer! read more

I love the tea time here. It is such a whimsical experience. I took my niece here for some girl time. We wore cute spring dresses and got to try the butterfly pea flower tea, and it was marvelous, sweet, floral, and purple! The treats that we got were delicious as well. My favorite was the cucumber finger sandwich, light, and wonderful! We sat in the Caldwell room, which has the story of the gift of the magi written among the ceiling, which brought back nostalgia from reading this story of love and selflessness as a child. December 2022 Review: I had a 5-star experience at this hotel. We checked in on a Thursday afternoon and the greater lobby area was filled with folks for Afternoon Tea. Our room was nice and had a blue sky with clouds painted on the ceiling. The branded robes were comfy to chill out in. That night we attended the weekly live jazz downstairs. It was pretty packed -- both locals and hotel guests had made reservations beforehand, so we stood by the jazz bar, listened and charged spiked hot ciders to our room. The hotel is conveniently located next to a big shopping plaza with a Whole Foods, Barnes and Noble and lots of retail. GLUTEN FREE Food Review: The staff is extremely knowledgeable about allergens. The hotel restaurant is the Green Valley Grill which also provides their room service. Roasted Chicken Salad Croissant: I got it on a gluten free bun and the French fries were gluten free. Wish the chicken salad had dried cranberries but overall great. 5/5 Blue Crab and Spinach Dip: We swapped the pita for side greens. It tasted good but was more filling that I expected because of the cream cheese-like consistency. 3/5 Avocado Ciabatta Toasts: I got this for room service and the avocado was greying a lot by the time I removed the tin. But poached egg and gluten free multigrain were really good. We swapped hash browns for greens. 3/5 Steel Cut Oats: I would have liked for fruit to be included by default, but it was good consistency and came with whole pecans and brown sugar sides. 5/5 Coffee: 5/5 Mushroom Bisque: I got a cup and couldn't taste any mushroom. It was kind of thin so I dumped the whole Parmesan side into it which was fine. 2/5 Sweet Josie Brown Ale Braised Pork Shank: They made it gluten free for me. A tad dry -- not a "falls off the bone" type. But good portion sizes for meat, mashed potato and wilted greens. 4/5 Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée: Just hold the cookie and it's GF. HUGE. Made to share. Raspberry sauce is impeccable and the top is like glass. 6/5 Cauliflower Bread (the gf complimentary bread option): One of the best gluten free carbs I've eaten. Chewy consistency, served warm. 5/5 Nearby gluten free options: Undercurrent (great dining, potential review to come), and the restaurant of their sister hotel, Print Works Bistro.
