The massages we got were also wonderful. Food- 5/5 all of the food was delicious and freshly made. The morning baked goods were my favorite. Room-4/5 the Bali Hai room was comfortable and pretty quiet. The only thing we noticed was a musty mildew smell in the room. Maybe from the air conditioner? Property- 5/5- views are amazing. They have a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, and fire pit as well. Overall we had a lovely time and would return again. It's an easy one hour drive from KC. It would also be fun to rent the entire property for a family reunion or weekend with friends.

I'm the one who doesn't want to sit around in a room but it's so cozy and relaxing here that I don't ever want to leave. My husband and I have traveled to Europe, been on cruises, and been all around the US. The food we receive at Amber House is better than anything we have had anywhere else in our travels. We brag to everyone and tell people they have to stay here! We enjoy speaking with the owners and hearing all their stories. The highlight of this trip (314/3-15, 2021) was the farewell committee headed by their youngest son who is just as friendly and caring as his parents. We can't wait to go back to Amber House. We know we will never be disappointed!!

There are 4 suites on the first floor with a huge professional kitchen in the center. Mike was a professional chef, so you can expect some excellent food. The rooms are spacious and the ones I saw had lovely views of hardens, a gazebo & a lake. Mike & Christine also host monthly dinners for locals. For about $50pp and BYOB you can enjoy a multi course dinner in a beautiful setting. Finally, on weekends you can expect to find local farmers offering fruits and vegetables along with vegan/vegetarian cookies. There was also a rancher selling grass fed chicken. beef and pork. Not a huge variety of vendors, but still a nice way to support the locals. It's a short visit. Maybe half an hour, but Casa Somerset is a nice little getaway.

The bed was comfortable, decor was warm and inviting, and the large jacuzzi tub was very relaxing and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was homemade french toast and we enjoyed it on the sunny indoor porch complete with koi pond. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night but definitely have a new favorite in terms of local places to stay. For the price and hospitality I would recommend staying here even if you live nearby like we did and just want to get away. If you're in the area visiting Lawrence or Kansas City this isn't far from either cities and is worth the drive. The room was welcoming with the door sign- Don and Anne plus the Mr & Mrs sign on the bed with chocolate truffles.
