"The orange light was fleeting" as I made my way for the eight o'clock lecture by Dr. Don Pettit being held in a building that looked like "Braut Kuchen mit Mozartkugeln" German for: Bride cake with chocolate covered marzipan balls (an Austrian specialty). He stressed the varied ways one may view a "Space Photo" and showed us live examples of how linear thinking does not always apply. In space "Off the Planet" and "far out of the box" thinking as "no answers at the back of the book" and problems must be solved in real time. Dr. Don Pettit kept interest for over an hour on his adventures in space. Delightful! Funded by Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS). Art pieces from Dave Chihuly, Mike Kelly, John Register, Alison Saar, Al Souza and Andy Warhol to name a few are beautifully displayed. It's really nice when this venue is closed off from traffic and you can walk in and out, makes things much easier as a pedestrian, but it does get quite fisted traffic-wise when you do that. I try not to park here because it becomes a nightmare leaving when a show or what not is over, but there's lots nearby that are affordable if you have eyes that search for them. Security does its job and is quite efficient and not as filled with vitriol as TSA or other security checks which is nice. Workers are helpful, mostly when you ask questions. Hasn't happened to me, but I've heard instances when people were lining up in the wrong spots for events and such. There's a decent selection of food here from bars, a Starbucks, Japanese food (fancier date night spot), of course Yard House, smash burgers, etc.

The Grammy Museum is in the LA Live plaza near Crypto arena so I parked at the underground garage there. The pricing is reasonable if you're not going to be there long. We came in the morning so traffic was not bad and there was no other event happening in the area. You have a lot of restaurants here and there also a Starbucks that we visited as well. The plaza is very cleaned and has security around to make you feel at ease.

We had little context on the plot but it blew us away. I would go see it again. The topics of immigration and citizenship were all too relevant in this political climate. We got a last minute $35 ticket on the edge of the row, which surprisingly didn't limit our view and experience. The set/play were designed well for everyone to see almost everything.

Since we were looking for this gay-themed performance, my assumption had to be the bright colored pink building. Yes, valet parking is available for a few dollars, but if I had read Shauna D.'s review, I would have preferred to park in the street. The entrance was confusing, as there were three doors when we parked our car at the valet. We had to ask, "Which way inside?" Our options were the backstage entrance, kitchen, or restaurant. Uh, restaurant. The venue itself is quite small. Lighting is poor, but the sound acoustics is fine. Cushions on wooden chairs were helpful for the cramped seating. Small round tables were available on each row to place your drinks (regardless of the sign that says no drink or food permitted in the theatre). Although I did not have a sip of a cocktail, I heard a few complaints about the drinks and saw a few untouched beverages left on the tables. I overheard one girl ask for a chocolate martini and the bartender did not understand the request. Hmmm... Although the introducing comedian joked about how, in case of emergency, we exit the way we came in, I did wonder whether there were more emergency exits in this cramped theater beneath a Mexican food restaurant. Oh, and the venue is not wheelchair friendly either. It was a decent venue for such a small play. Well ventilated, seated up to 50 people, a full house.

My advice is come early. Traffic getting in is crazy. We learned the first year so this year it went flawless. Lots of booths that have christmas treats.. some free but mostly pricey. Prepare to spend money here and lots of it. The place is beautifully decorated with Disney Christmas decorations. There is a Disney store in there that it is reduced in price but there was always a line to get in. They also had a separate lot that you had a time slot to get in there specially priced store. If you ask me it was all junk. We left as they were closing.. later the better. Everything shuts down at 8pm.

So my review is based on the D23 event of the property. First off, the time it took to get from the freeway to the parking lot was about 20 minutes. The line of cars did not move much and I believe there is only one parking structure to go into as a guest. I just knew I had to take a brief nap because I would have gotten motion sickness if I stayed awake. There was a lot of ground to cover and 90% of the event is held outdoors. If you ever participate in this event, bring a tote of some sort and your walking shoes. There were water stations all over the property. They had complimentary popcorn (salty, but good), cotton candy, candied apples (limited supply and didn't eat) that turned into sugar cookies at the end of the night (pretty good), Two hot apple cider stations, and one hot cocoa station. I tried their hot cocoa and it was not what I was expecting. It tasted burnt and didn't taste like cocoa that the parks usually sell. If it was through a 3rd party vendor, I had it towards the end of the night (maybe the batch was burnt) or maybe it was watered down coffee? Whatever it was I took one sip and threw it away. The grounds were filled with Christmas decorations and was very festive! The line for pictures with the characters were all long. There was an area for little carnival games to win prizes. The one a lot of people didn't like was the cube rolling race. That one took the longest to win and only 1 out of 4 can win. The cafeteria was lively but they ran out of a dish I really wanted. They said it will take another 15 minutes until new ones are made. I opted for the cheeseburger meal. I enjoyed the cheeseburger, but the fries were hard and not enjoyable to eat. Their vanilla cupcake was fluffy and I enjoyed the whipped frosting on top! I enjoyed the property but couldn't see or do what I wanted because I followed my party and didn't want to get left behind. The other part was the event was for 4 hours only. A good hour or so us was trying to park, walk to the check-in, then walk into the event. Getting out was also tough. We were rushed to get off the property. The security started forcing everyone to leave. I think it could have gone better?
