Free drinks included coffee, tea, and soda and there was a carafe of water and of lemonade and one of cranberry juice. Free alcoholic drinks consisted of red and white wine. The DOWN SIDE was that less than half of the power outlets worked and some of those that did work the plugs were so worn out that my power plug literally fell out of the outlet. Anyways 4 star experience down rated to 3 stars because of this.

Fueling was done by 22:00h but we were still charged a $300 callout out fee despite leaving at 22:10h and not using any services after 22:00h. Plus the FBO was open anyways to service a Falcon 900 getting the attention from the entire staff! When I kindly asked if they could check with the manager I was handed a business card to call. No answer of course. I have been in similar situation many times before, but NEVER received this treatment. They just lost their CAA fuel a week ago but luckily APP Jet Center on the other side of the field has CAA. APP now has my business!

But despite not being as heavily used for the sporting events at this station is still pretty high traffic. Which, for the most part, it feels safe and I've never had an issue here. I've used this station quite a bit recently since I've been working in the area and had to fly in and out of Oakland Airport. But it is a sad reminder to see the empty and defunct coliseum every time I use this station because I grew up an Oakland A's fan and a Golden State Warriors fan.

My first flight was delayed by two hours which meant I'd miss my connecting flight to Oakland. Note to self. Always fly direct if possible. What happened next just blew me away and made me a Southwest customer for life. * At the Customer Service station in Vegas, the kind Southwest lady booked me on the next direct flight to Oakland at no additional charge. * My baggage didn't make the direct flight to Oakland but the super nice Customer Service lady at Oakland Airport (shout out to Jamina) processed my baggage report and made sure I was alerted when my bag arrived on the next flight which was in about an hour. * Southwest gave me a $150 credit for my troubles. * Southwest refunded my $35 baggage charge. Matt says if you are traveling, be sure to check out Southwest. Their professional attention to the customer is superior to any other airline I've flown with.

Checking a bag was a breeze in the priority lane, and the regular line wasn't super long, but there were people even at that hour. Boarding was also smooth with the numbered zones and assigned seating. The Oakland gate areas are super small thought with a limited amount of seating. I'd imagine on a busy travel day, working your way to your gate could be an issue. It's probably the least appealing gate area of any Southwest terminal I've been in. Luckily, I wasn't there long.

I did have a great time visiting KSQL San Carlos Airport to have lunch and visit the Hiller Aviation Museum nearby. You have to be on your A-game coming into KSQL. It sits right under SFO's class bravo and approach to 28 runways. Be familiar with landmarks and noise abatement procedures. We landed and parked at transient parking which was close-by the diner. There are plenty of transient parking for visiting aircrafts. Hiller Aviation Museum is on the other side of the runway but it is just a short walk around.

No line, no waiting, and one of the smoothest security processes I've ever been through. I'd fly out of this airport again without hesitation. The staff were friendly and clearly made an effort to keep things clean, though there's a little room for improvement on that front. The rental car center is a short distance from the terminal, and the shuttle bus runs frequently, every 5 to 10 minutes, making it a convenient and easy connection.
