Very disappointing experience. It has been over a month since I first contacted HBR, and I am still waiting for a basic estimate. Throughout the process, I received multiple commitments on timing that were not met, and many messages and follow-up requests went unanswered. Communication remained inconsistent even after the owner became involved. I understand that schedules can be busy, but clear communication and follow-through are essential. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. When a company cannot reliably provide an estimate or respond to basic inquiries, it raises concerns about how they would manage a larger project. when you book with Kim on the phone ask for Vince he has such a positive friendly attitude excellent young man to work with the first time he came He was very careful to be clean and not make a mess mHe covered our fireplace with plastic sheeting, etc We had one mild communication misunderstanding as I was expecting them to go all the way to the top of our approx 25 foot tall chimney so without hesitation Kim sent Vince back out to do it again at no extra charge He did it again using six or seven extension rods to go all the way to the top of our chimney and I'm glad he did because there was definitely more soot up higher! Very friendly, both during the service visit and scheduling. Quick response when I reached out. This was for maintenance for our gas fireplace, and also to address an odor coming from the unit. Tommy did a thorough inspection and explained a few features to me. The odor issue seemed to have gone away on its own, so no repair was necessary. I was disappointed and perhaps misunderstood their service. No maintenance was done aside from the inspection and the visit was very quick, less than 30 minutes. I expected at least some of the manufacturer's recommended annual maintenance to be done (cleaning, etc.). The $249 charge was as quoted when I made the appointment - I just should have asked more about what maintenance work would have been completed - I probably would have made a different decision. read more

Jeff was helpful and communicative throughout the whole process of repairing and sweeping our 1968 era chimney. He worked around our trip plans and made sure to come out only when he could do everything in one visit. We're happy with the removal of a squirrel nest, bird nest, repairing of the mortar at the top of the chimney, and filling in some areas of the inner chimney liner that were vulnerable to high heat (using ceramic refractory foam). My propane fireplace was missing a part that would allow my fireplace to ignite without electricity. My family and I have lived in our new home a little under 2 years and have never had a gas log fireplace so this was all new to me. The pilot went out this past Thursday while we were using the fireplace. With the upcoming cold weather in the next few days we decided to look for a company to get it serviced. We are always looking at company reviews to make sure we trust the various companies before we do business with them. Looked at Angie's List, Yelp, etc. and found HBR Chimney on Yelp and I am glad we found them. During my initial research saw that they were a family owned and operated local business. I googled the possible problem and saw that the thermocoupler may be the issue. HBR Chimney was very responsive on a Saturday afternoon. They told me to try and re-light the pilot as a troubleshooting step to make sure that the issue was indeed the thermocoupler before scheduling a technician to come out. They offered to send someone out next day if I wanted to have them take a look. The troubleshooting helped determine that the pilot went out, probably due to the weather change and I was able to relight it. I could not have done it without his guidance. I now have a provider to call when I need to service my gas log fireplace. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. My experience with HBR Chimney was excellent. They did a fantastic job with the scheduling and quoting process. Communication was excellent. The technician assigned to my job called me two hours before my appointment time and said he was able to be at my home in the next 15 minutes, which was fine by me. When Greg arrived he was very friendly, thorough, and professional throughout the whole process. Having never used my chimney, I was totally expecting him to find something that was going to be a very expensive repair. Much to my (and I think even a little to his) surprise, everything was perfectly fine with my chimney. He proceeded with the cleaning and was completely done in about an hour. HBR was a little higher than some of the other quotes I got but I feel like the quality of service I received was worth it. They did a great job replacing the panels in our fireplace. One cracked after one small fire, so I contacted them and someone emailed back saying that sometimes the manufacturers they get the panels from don't cure them correctly. With that response they stated that they would come back out and fix it when there was some more room on their schedule, since we live on the other side of the metroplex from their office. I was fine with that for the time being. I have now tried to reach out more than 15 times over several months, through emails, phone calls & texts and now no one is getting back to me. I am very disappointed that we feel like we got played and completely lied to. This business no longer appears to have any decent scruples. Their dishonesty & avoidance to our issue is abhorrent. I would not suggest them to repair, replace or even sweep your chimney. I am so upset that we paid THOUSANDS of dollars to be lied to and then constantly ignored. Very shameful business practices.
