I wanted to give kudos to the staff at this ER! I came in quite upset and scared because I've never been to an ER before and, of course, my emergency itself. Nurse Bradley helped me calm down while also delivering excellent medical care. He even managed to make me laugh despite me being in a lot of pain! All staff were efficient and kind. I came in the middle of the night with my concern and was seen very quickly, and because this was a lower-level emergency, I was out of there quickly as well. read more

In and out with minor injury, diagnostic testing and Rx/ instructions in less than an hour. Personable, knowledgeable staff. Great place to go for non life threatening treatment in a jiff. Not their fault but can we please open some 24 hr pharmacies in this quickly growing county so a drive isn't needed to Sarasota or Sun City for after hour Rx need? The nurses were ok. The doctor was horrible, he just joked said it was a clean break after looking at the cray, He was wrong my ulna and radius bones were displaced and the radius was fractured. I needed plates and screws and Dr Hand did the surgery. I had to ask and remind this er staff for pain relief They gave me Tylenol and told me that or Ibuprofen would be all I needed. So I suffered all w/e until I saw Dr Hand who gave me a narcotic Px to hold me over until surgery. My suggestion get a doctor who knows what he is doing and one who has empathy The nursing care was done by at least 4 nurses which was confusing. Yolanda splinted my arm very professionally However my elbow was trapped in this unnecessary long splint for a fractured wrist. No one offered to call or give me a written referral to an orthopedic doctor. I wish they would have called my orthopedic Dr Hand. The attending ER doc told me he thought maybe Dr Hand was retired? Really? The X-ray tech was very good and she gave me a copy of the disc as I was literally leaving . I will not go here again. Oh and btw I am a retired RN BSN read more

My husband had a stroke. We went to this ER. Had a video neurologist consultation after initial scan. He told us the plan for tests that were needed. The doctor had him taken to their hospital by ambulance. We have been at the hospital for several hours. The hospital has informed us the tests will not be completed until tomorrow. Worst experience ever. Do Not use these facilities!! The on call doctor at the hospital will not even come to the room. read more

Robbery. My wife took me here on Christmas Day as it was the only place open. We recently returned from a cruise and I was very sick - High Fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, bad headache, cough, dehydration and delirious. I had never felt so sick and even my 10yo daughter was crying as I was so delirious. 2.5months later and apparently Aetna deemed this a non emergency so they are not covering, although they did cover the physician services fee, which doesn't make sense to pick and choose. Anyway, it ended up being the flu. They did blood work, x ray, and 2 tylenol. I was there for 45min - 1 hour and the total they have billed is $7,960.91. Almost $8k to tell me I had the flu! This should be illegal as these people are thieves. read more

I had to go to the emergency room this week at 430 AM. I was so impressed by the staff and treatment that I received. The process was quick and efficient. The Drs. Although the doctor and care received was fine, the billing was the WORST and most frustrating process I have ever undergone for any type of service. I NEVER received any invoice/bill to pay outstanding balance after insurance paid. For one visit, 3 debt collection agencies call me to pay my outstanding balances. When I try to call to get information, ever number I called sends you to a different number, as they are not the correct person to assist. I am doing all the work to try to pay my outstanding balances and I am sent to debt collections. I will NEVER again visit this place. read more

Wow! Brought my husband in because he was having an anaphylactic reaction to ant bites!! Can't believe the RN was extremely rude and abrupt from the get go! She was more concerned about what he ate then listening to me tell her what's going on and that he needs epinephrine because his throat and face are swelling up! Really? Not to mention all the hives on his hands and body! When I told her that I'm trying tell you what's happening with him and commented about her rude behavior she made me leave. How ironic that I'm an ICU trained RN and manager at a local HCA hospital. Hopefully the patients that come through our hospital ER don't receive this rude treatment. In the end, as long as he receives the appropriate treatment I am grateful, but knock off the rudeness!! Totally unnecessary. You're caring for people. Good thing I'm not the manager here! My wife had her finger smashed by a car door at the car wash next to this facility. She was quickly tended to. Staff was courteous. Her finger was examined, X-rayed and put in a splint. Her finger was bruised not broken. Was given Tylenol. THEN came the bill. $1824 for the facility $250 for the doc and $250 for the X-ray. OVER $2300 for a bruised finger!!! This is after they filed with BCBS. This is white collar robbery. We will NEVER use this hospital system again. Please please don't bring your child here:(. The doctor wasn't concerned at all and rude and looked at us like we were crazy for bringing our son when he had a fever of 105 and was lethargic.They didnt take the time to properly access him and charged us a $300 co pay and we ended up having to take him to an urgent care the next day because they couldn't diagnose properly didn't even test him for Strep or anything just said oh it's viral let it run it's course. It was a complete waste of money and time for us and very disappointing. Avoid don't make the mistake I did and take your child here. :( I also called them to tell about his fever spiking up to 106.5 after we left and they wanted me to bring him back in and charge me yet again! Avoid at all costs. If you must go, ask for a bill itemization. They charged me $2000 for blood work that would have cost $200 if the same labs were ordered online. When I called to ask why it's so high they said it's because it's what the hospital charges and is not negotiable. Yes, I have insurance too. Be prepared to get ripped off. Re response: there is no issue with my insurance, I still have to pay out of pocket because of hospitals like yourself overcharging for services like my blood labs. I took my son who injured his arm last Thursday. He was taken back within 5 minutes of arrival and we were out the door with a diagnosis, prescription, and School note within an hour. The doctor was very nice and connected well with my teenager. Although they only allowed one parent back my husband was allowed to stay in the outer waiting room. I read a lot of bad reviews and was hesitant about taking my son here but I am glad we went, our experience was great. Hopefully we won't have to come back but will not hesitate next time. read more

Waste of time and money. Asked to sign forms on ipad with no place to disagree with unknown documents to which the patient may or may not consent. Terms unknown to patient...asked to sign over objections of patient...Violation of Patients Rights. Questions asked about reason for visit... while answering, patient was interrupted.....over-talked... record taking RN could NOT possibly document accurate patient history because of constant interruptions by the RN and others. Patient recent and past medical, environmental exposure to toxins, never heard .....answers were never heard. Dr. Thomas Do....I have no idea what is causing the symptoms you are here for...... of course not. Patient is constantly interrupted or over-talked, not allowed to answer intake questions. Waste of time. Questions from patient about expectations also interrupted; over-talked by record taking RN, mostly by the Dr. Thomas, DO. I have no idea why you have this ...... reason which brought you to EMERGENCY UNIT ....was not my choice ...........other Urgent Care facilities closed. REFUSED to give patient printed lab results. NEVER gave consent to online records or establishing patient portal for records. Specifically stated patient legal rights to decline online access, email notify, etc. Requested lab results and was refused. Facility REFUSED to provide claiming I had to access online. read more

IN ALL, Misdiagnosis/delayed diagnosis, medication errors, neglegence, unprofessional and even malicious. Except Peter running the CT scanner, he deserves the one star I have to give this place pretending to be a ER. Do NOT tell me to call the ER manager at (941) 242-6532, Director of Patient Safety at (941) 342-1032, or the Director of Emergency Services at (941) 342-1089. I've already called and gotten nowhere. HCA should be ashamed! MY STORY: About a year ago I came in with a severe kidney infection. I was told I had a kidney infection then I didn't have a kidney infection; this whent back and forth numerous times, no one knew anything. I was in severe agony and returned THREE TIMES for help. First time they gave me the wrong antibiotics with nothing for pain. Second time they gave me the correct antibiotics but still nothing for pain. Third time they sent me to their location in Sarasota for pain meds.. apparently they are not allowed to give pain meds at that location period. I stayed at their location in Sarasota for a week just so a nurse could hand me pain meds every 8-12 hours. RECENTLY: I went in for left lower back pain, I thought it may have been a kidney infection again and expressed that to whatever rude person walked in and drilled questions while I was crying in pain. After about two hours crying in pain and gasping "can't breathe" my husband found someone. She asked what was wrong and I told her "cant' breathe, need O2" while writhing in a pool of sweat. My O2 saturation was 89! Someone came back and gave me a shot of Torodol. After 15 minutes I got up MYSELF and put MYSELF on O2 and within a few minutes I wasnt sweating or hyperventalating anymore... I was repeatedly asked about my "Urinary Problems" I didn't have. Somehow they concluded I had a STD!!!!!!(results came back negative) They gave me two different types of antibiotics for the "STD" that they couldn't tell me which one. They did a cervical smear test with a bed pan under my butt and the lady shoved the damn speculumn in so fast it hurt. She left the swabs in the room with me from 1200 noon until 4:35pm when a diffrent woman came in to pick it up, asked my full name (while never looking at me) said "Thank you for your...." then looked at me disgusted and finished her sentence "gift" I was shocked and HCA should be too! They sent me for a CT scan. PETER was absolutely amazing! Very professional in every way! When he returned me, he even gave me the call light from the wall I couldn't find earlier, made sure I was comfortable, above and beyond! Around 7pm they handed me a prescription for another antibiotic, and tramadol. Told me I had Diverticulitis (no explanation on what it was, what could cause it, nothing) and that I could go now. No signing anything, no discharge paperwork, when I asked for a note for work they told me I could use the prescription.. yes the ones I had to give to the pharmacy. HCA should be ashamed! read more

I would steer clear unless you just have money to burn. I took my daughter there a couple of months ago because she fell and hit her chin causing a quarter inch gash. It was after hours so we decided to go to the the Doctor's Hospital because of proximity. We were there for about 45 min. We saw the Dr. for five minutes and she glued the wound shut. My daughter did not require medication or anything else. The services rendered included the nurse cleaning the wound and the Dr. putting glue on it and holding it shut for one minute. We have insurance but we are on a HSA Plan and we pay the negotiated rate between the hospital and the insurance company. The total for services rendered was $2422 and our portion of the bill was $1335. I asked a representative at the billing department how much it would cost me if I didn't have insurance because I can't imagine most people being able to afford this. I was told that the cost for an uninsured person would have been $200. Really?! So how do they get away with billing so high? My portion is $1100 more than a person without insurance and I pay for insurance! Certainly there is something wrong with this picture. Their billing practices are unethical to say the least. This place is unethical period. The representatives at the billing department were unhelpful and demonstrated no care or concern. This in a nutshell is what's wrong with our medical system and I will certainly never return to the doctors hospital for an emergency. We unfortunately have to suck it up and pay whatever price they chose to set, however I will make sure to inform others so they don't make the same mistake we did by choosing Doctors Hospital. read more

i rushed my girlfriend here due to her having breathing problems. i didn't catch any name tags. i was not allowed in the back which is totally understandable but he was blatantly rude the whole entire time. he acted like everything was a joke, and proceeded to totally ignore/brush off everything that my girlfriend said. after my girlfriend said she's having issues breathing, he says "you know this is an emergency room right?" i got kicked out of the emergency room due to being with someone that is exposed to covid before tests were even taken. after reading the reviews on this hospital, i am very depressed. this place needs to undergo some serious changes. read more

I went into Doctors Hospital ER in Bradenton at 3:30am with kidney stones, so those of you who have had stones, know the pain I was in. I was greeted immediately, taken to a treatment room, and after the normal legal and medical questions, was hooked up to an IV with pain meds. This ER is absolutely the best service. Dr. James, Karen and Wendy Yolanda could not have been more attentive, concerned, kind, reassuring and extremely knowledgable. My husband and I have both been here and agree that we are extremely fortunate to have an ER that is so responsive and professional. We felt that they could not have done anything more to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. The facility is state of the art and spotless. I would say the quality of care is fine. However, when we received the bill, they charged more than $32,000 for x-rays, a CT Scan and evaluation. Thank God we had insurance because that is the most ridiculous pricing for medical expenses I have ever seen in my entire life! My family has had surgeries that have cost less than this! But the true reason for my 2 star rating is due to our many attempts to get copies of my son's medical records. He was on an accident at the end March. In order to receive the records from his visit, we had to fill out a form and we chose to drop it off to ensure we would receive them back in a timely manner. We were told it would take 5-10 business days. That time period passed, and still no records. We called again and was told that they never received the form. We were told it would take another 3-5 business days. Two more weeks have passed, and still no records. We called again today and were told that it was processed but never released and they blamed another office for the problem. They finally figured it out. But here we are, more than a month after my son's accident and we have not been complete our insurance claim because we have had to wait more than a month to get these records. This is the most inefficient, ineffective customer service practices I have ever witnessed. I will never return to this facility and I have shared my opinions of the this facility with everyone I know. On a side note, my son also had a follow up X-Ray at Lakewood Ranch Medical ER. Not only did they only charge $170 for 2 x-rays, we walked in, filled out a form and received the medical records same day within less than 20 minutes. If you are going to charge ridiculous prices for your services, you should at least make darned sure that you have the best customer around. And you don't! read more

I came in for an emergency for being bitten by a black widow spider. This place is a RIP OFF!!! The charges are extremely high!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!! BE WARNED. My heart was racing due to the venom and my foot and leg were extremely swollen and black and blue. They took my vitals and then advised me to go home and take two ibuprofen. I later received a bill for over $1,300 from a physicians group out of Pennsylvania who refused to respond to my US Mail request for more info and an explanation starting with "who are you?" No response and now they have referred the bill to a collection agency. BE WARNED!!! Staff loud, talks about other patients. Does not ask if you need anything. Closes the door on you and you freeze to death. This place was nice when it opened and now it is horrible. Staff (nurses) careless. No mask worn properly in common areas. No care to keep you comfortable while you wait. They talk badly and complain about covid patients come in. I would like to say for going to an ER knowing it is an Emergency Room, this was the best experience in the ER that my Father has ever had. This was the place to go and get the care that he needed. The nursing staff, the physician, the security guard and the patient registrar were the most kind and polite and comforting staff I have ever meet. The staff gave my father the best care and I would highly recommend this for an Emergency Room. Thank goodness they knew what to do! I posted a review based on my negative billing experience. I was then invited to call a 941 number regarding my bill. I tried to call to no avail. Per directions from my insurance company, I stopped by and asked billing for an itemized summary of my services. The employee that received my request took a long time to come and meet with me, and then became very rude when she did finally come to see me, and she told me they did not have that information and I would have to call an 800 number. I have repeatedly tried to call the number and have not yet had anyone answer, even after staying on hold each time for over 30 minutes. The recording does direct to leave a message, but all attempts fail because the "mailbox is full". Again, avoid this place and go to any other healthcare facility. I have never been treated so poorly and with so much disrespect as a patient in need. I came into the hospital with my blood pressure skyrocketing and all the nurse (Matt) could do was criticize the way my mask was on my face, clearly I was in a lot of distress. Later when it was time to leave the facility Matt returns with discharge documents and throws them down and proceeds to RIP the IV out of my arm! I did NOT want him to touch me again! I was being discharged without knowing anything more than when I came in and was upset and crying quietly in my single room when a security guard(Al) entered my room and asked me what was taking so long to get my things together. I was taking my own leads off due to Matt's horrible manner. Al then said I wasn't doing it fast enough and to get out immediately and escorted me out the door of the building. I literally was in shock at such treatment. If you want to PAY to have such an experience then you are in the right place. If I can save even one person from an experience like I had this review is worth reminding myself of the horror! read more

Let me warn you away from this terrible place with our unfortunate experience. My daughter hit her head at work and was bleeding from her forehead, so urgent care turned her away. Urgent care recommended this place as the closest ER. We drove straight there, and then sat for hours. Literally hours. Turns out, they thought she'd hurt her foreARM and prioritized her last. When we finally saw the Doctor, he checked her foreARM though she had obviously been bleeding from her foreHEAD. We had to correct him. Of course we had waited so long by then that the forehead cut had clotted. They gave her an ibuprofen and sent her on her way. Now, they want 2 grand for bad service and an ibuprofen and they have failed to claim from our insurance! Save yourself so much hassle and go elsewhere. read more

I came in for severe all over pain-- but specifically in my neck and shoulders. I was on my way to work and began experiencing spasms and severe shooting pains. I had no idea what else to do but go to the ER. When I got there, I was terrified of going in because I was afraid of how much it would cost. The nurses were very mean to me and rough when taking vitals. I guess it bothered them that I was so afraid of going in? I wasn't being THAT difficult just by asking to have someone come out and talk to me about money for a second first but they treated me like I was disgusting to them because of my uncertainty and concern over money. I tried to lighten the mood with some jokes about how much it would cost. They were the dryest most bizarrely rude and rough nurses I have encountered. To this day I still joke with people about the ER nurses there and the things the dr said to me (later). I had one woman that was very nice and friendly-- she coerced me to come in and that it wouldn't cost much and she could help me with a charity option. Come to find out, later, I don't qualify because I have insurance and she was aware of this (it is a hospital policy when I called to set up a payment plan) but still convinced me to come in. When the doctor finally got into the room he asked me how he was supposed to help me. He raised his hands up in a what am i supposed to do motion and asked in a sarcastic tone "Did you fall?" ..... knowing VERY WELL that I was not in due to a fall. I am not kidding you when I tell you he asked me this question with absolutely no legitimate investigative intent. His sole purpose in asking this question, in an extremely arrogant tone, was to demonstrate that he had no interest in trying to see if there was a way he could help me. No compassion. This experience was extremely demeaning and in my opinion, violent. I was so offended when he left the room-- I was jokingly telling the nurse about how rude he was-- trying to make light of it, and I guess she told him because he never came back to the room. Then I got a 1200 bill. They did refer me to a pain clinic and gave me some information on Fibromyalgia by a different nurse who was actually sort of nice but kept with the dry and uncompassionate care the others had. This is the most ludacris experience to have to PAY TO BE VIOLATED AND DEMEANED. He was clearly very confused why I thought I might find help there. Where did this doctor get trained???? He was the worst doctor I have ever met. I believe his first name was Todd. The two nurses in triage, I must emphasize, ---so rough! I had a bruise on my arm where she grabbed me to take my blood pressure. Please do not go to this hospital unless you have an issue that these poorly trained medical professionals can see with their eyes (broken bone, blood) Anything else and they will treat you like a dog. They clearly aren't in their calling. Thank God he didn't send for any other tests (my most recent physician said he should have done immediately due to the level of pain) or else it would have been ~$30,000 according to another review I saw on here. My daughter went to the Lakewood Ranch Doctors hospital on 70 & Ranch Lake Blvd after a car accident and they did not do any X-rays, MRI's or anything! After continuing to be in a lot of pain, she went somewhere else to have the xrays & MRI done to find she has 2 bulging discs in her lower back and whiplash. We brought our son there for a swollen foot resulting from an insect bit. The foot had swelled up so the bite wasn't evident anymore and they told us it was an infection from a small cut and prescribed us antibiotics. the antibiotics had no affect so we brought him to our regular Doctor who correctly diagnosed it as an insect bite and prescribed OTC Benadryl which worked. We then got a bill for $1300 from the hospital and $881 from the ER doctor. I would avoid this place unless you have a critical condition and no other options. read more

I went in a few months ago as I had a small cut on my leg- no big deal. I chose this location instead of going to a walk-in clinic because it was closer to my children's school where I had to pick them up afterwards. Was seen fast and told that my leg didn't even need stitches, only to be glued up and a tetanus shot to be safe. Was seen by doctor and nurse for a total of 15 minutes or so. Just got the bill- $5000 without insurance and $2500 after insurance! Called their NPAS billing service to complain and was threatened with collection services within minutes for even questioning their fees. It brought on a panic attack in me which I have only just recovered from. I have never know an industry with a less caring and more profit oriented motive and this establishment epitomizes it. If the staff there had any heart they would have given me an idea of what I was walking into financially seeing as my condition was no more than a slight cut. I have been to car dealerships before where they have talked me out of spending money there and told me to try a cheaper and alternative solution! Imagine going to a restaurant because you were starving, bought a burger not knowing what the cost was and received a bill weeks later for hundreds of dollars! I figured in my head that I would be paying in the region of a few hundred dollars after insurance, not $5000, judging on what I have paid at a walk in clinic before but I went there anyway for peace of mind. Now I am disgusted and shattered that I ever did. Unless it is serious, even with good insurance as I had, please think twice! read more
