I had a cryptic pregnancy and the nurses i came in contact with were the most genuine and kind people. Specifically Ediana! I hope I spelled her name right. I wouldn't have been as resilient as I was if it wasn't for them. They really got me through it. Even the nurse who did my initial ultrasound was very kind and understanding of everything. I'd do it all over again if it meant I got to interact with the same staff! (And have meet my beautiful baby for the first time again:')) OH! Where do I begin? My fiancé & I were headed to a baby shower. It started raining before we could get to the car. His umbrella was broken & wouldn't close all the way & it punctured the palm of his hand. The puncture was DEEP & his tendon was poking out. So this was not just a simple cut but an emergency. We were scared, he was bleeding everywhere. We went to the nearest hospital (Manatee Memorial) in the emergency department. We checked in at the front desk & not long after they brought us to the back to clean the wound & do x-rays. So far, it was going good. Then a RN came into our room leading us to a different room claiming once we head that way the team will be able to get us out of here in no time. We weren't concerned about getting out of there faster we just wanted to make sure everything was okay. Once we got into that room we waited 2 hours before anyone came to check up on us. Mind you my fiancé has a very painful wound that is hurting him like CRAZY & actively bleeding. I understand there is a process of doing things, but the LEAST that nurses & staff could do is update their patients. We don't care that it is taking long. We just feel like we were forgotten about & that's the worst to feel in an emergency situation. Once someone did come see us, they mentioned how they forgot about us because we moved rooms. That is not what we want to hear. This is not a laughing matter. This person was also the one to numb his wound. So my fiancé has been in excruciating pain for 3 hours already. The doctor comes in shortly after saying that there isn't a hand specialist on call (since it was a Sunday) & that we should just head home & contact Dr. Van Vliet at Blake tomorrow. We felt like that couldn't just be it. There was a hole in the palm of his hand. Shouldn't it be stitched up? Not once did any one specify that this wound wasn't emergent. I don't know if there was miscommunication or what? But we felt like there had to be more to this. We headed to Blake Hospital the next morning where we explained this situation & said we're here to see Dr. Van Vliet. We're also not dumb. We know there's ways to do things. The lady at the registration gestured us to head to the emergency department at Blake which was a few walks away. We headed to the emergency department & the man at the front desk was UPSET and gestured us BACK to the registration. At the point we were both frustrated we are getting sent back and forth & NO ONE WAS HELPING. No one wanted to understand the situation. Once we got back to the registration the lady seemed upset. As if we were the problem. She didn't bother to ask if we had an appointment or not. She just wrote down a phone number & told us to call it. THAT'S IT. We head out of the building to call this number & that number said Dr. Van Vliet is not a "hand specialists" & to call Coastal Orthopedics. At this point my fiancé & I gave up. No one was helping or leading us in the right direction. So, we decided to head back to Manatee Memorial in case there was a hand specialist on call since it was a Monday now. Welp, we got there & after checking in & being in an exam room for 3 hours. A doctor comes in (Nicole) & immediately said "What do you want me to do here" in the most condescending voice ever. Whereas my fiancé replied "Stitch it up? IDK?" She laughed & said "Stitches? You don't need stitches" We were confused. NO ONE specified that he wouldn't need stitches. No one told us that his wound would heal on its own. We value our time & it felt like the doctor thought we were there to waste her time. We not here to make your day hard. There was NO communication to us that his would was not emergent & he did not need any stitches. They didn't even tell us how to properly care for it & signs & symptoms to be wary of. This has been super upsetting. We wouldn't have wasted our time & energy if someone would've told us this the day before. If you're a nurse reading this.... don't be afraid to update your patients. We see you walk by our rooms ignoring us & have us waiting for hours. We understand there is a process but just acknowledge us. read more

This review is specific to labor and delivery and postpartum. I cannot speak any more highly of all the staff who work in these departments- they are truly all angels and I commend them for their amazing talents and dedication to their work. Many people had warned me about Manatee Memorial which made me incredibly nervous as a first time mom, but the experience we had with every single staff member we encountered could not have been better! Horrible staff! One of my family members were taken to this hospital for a heart attack and most of the doctors had no clue what they were talking about. They kept telling us that he didnt have any reflexes, but he was put on Fentanyl! If he's on fentanyl he wont have any reflexes, but they weren't telling us that fact as if they didnt know themselves. Some of the staff was not very bright either. We were in the ICU waiting room when a staff member came in and pulled up a chair, which made my family think she was going to tell us he was dead! This is a torture Chamber. I was denied food and water, left on a gurney in the hallway outside in the ct/radiology for 4 hours, completely ignored. It was once I started elevating my voice that I was heard. And when I was back in my room, I was threatened by the Head nurse and security ( a code grey) 5 men to 1 me a 60 + old man. This is my first day in the hospital after I had suffered 3 strokes, and they said I am the threat. I just wanted food and water. I hadn't had anything to eat or sleep in 20+ hours. Now I know the rules. I told everyone to leave the room and they said no. That is a clear violation of my civil rights as the lessee of the room. They broke so many rules and laws. I wish I had a good lawyer. I have a recording of the situation. read more

I was sent there from a "stand alone" emergency room which is a detached portion of the actual hospital. The emergency room ran the tests necessary to determine I needed surgery right away. The stand alone ER was able to communicate with MMH and there's was no confusion as to where I was going and what was about to happen. MMH sent an ambulance transport with some very experienced caring EMTs. When I arrived I was immediately met with caring hands to make me comfort until going into surgery where my Care was impeccable all the way through. After surgery I was returned to my room where my wife was accepted and accommodated to add support to my care. I personally wouldn't have a problem going back for more care. In the stroke care unit. Nurses were super caring and friendly. Very quick to respond to needed assistance. They went above and beyond. The support staff was just as kind. PT with Peef(not sure of spelling) was gentle and caring with my dad. The food was good and catered well to vegetarian but you had to ask for the specific options and they were very accommodating. Getting a hold of doctor was tough and lots of waiting for next steps - but that's true of most hospitals so can't ding them too much for that. This just seemed to be shorter on doctor availability side. read more

I was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital via ambulance during a stroke. I did not choose this hospital nor would I ever allow myself to be taken to it again. The care was substandard in every way. Communication was poor, the nurses were poorly groomed, including one who had hair extensions that went almost to her knees, meaning her hair was swinging around my body when she was performing her task. The communication was poor. Because I was take in via ambulance, I was stuck there for 5 days. There was no real coordination among staff, a general lack of professionalism, and poor communication. Honestly, I was happy to be rushed out of there as I feared for my wellbeing. I was left to make every single contact for further treatment, and because I had been in this "hospital" I was denied appointments with local doctors in my area. It was a nightmare. All I can say is that if you have an emergency and are within driving distance of another hospital, go to the other hospital. This place is grim. read more

Re:our 11/12/25 ER visit. If you can ever call a visit to an ER pleasant, this is how OUR experience was. the staff at check in, and staff around the waiting room, to our luck at getting in the ER very quickly, and then with the continuous care my husband Joe got throughout the evening , the experience was a positive one. Sadly we've been to plenty of ER's in our lifetime, as with many other, family issues, and friends. Dr Khan was attentive, thorough, of course, and presented info in a non condescending way, just in case. Check in was easy. The nice girl who registers you once in the room, Rodricka? was sweet and we ended up laughing a lot. As with any family or person who has an ER experience, dependent on their specific medical crises , it's not the best time. But as I said, our situation ended with positives. Take it from a nurse. I would not take my cat to this hospital. My poor mother recently had open heart surgery. She had her call bell on for over an hour. No answer. She finally peed the bed. I had to peel her compression stockings from her scabs. We've tried complaining to the practitioners and to charge nurses. Does no good. at the stroke care center. quick action to make sure it was a stroke. fast reaction the staff and doctors took. On the 5th floor. Head nurse very organized, he is very professional. food was good. when discharged all medicines had there own instructions, even highlighted. that was a big help. head nurse discussed all the meds. to make sure I understood. Had total of 1 hour physical therapy for walking and instructions. they told me to do Home Health program. We went to the Er on 14Th St w in Bradenton. Spent 4 hours there with no results. Dr gave my uncle morphine then did a urine test. So now it shows up in his bloodwork. Took him the Manatee hospital on Saturday. He was having sharp stabbing pains in his head. After 2 Days in the hospital no results. The bad thing is I will probably have to take him back. What a dump! Unfortunately, my husband was stuck in the uncleanliness there for 18 days with a post surgical infection. Windows that looked like that hadn't been cleaned/painted in years. Dirty blinds that didn't work. The drywall had gouges and was in desperate need of spackle and a fresh paint job. In one room there was "stuff" growing out of the drywall. Furniture that looked like it had been picked up off the curb during garbage week. The floors needed to be cleaned. No bathroom in this particular room in the pictures. Unemptied urine bottles left hanging around. Sink that backed up and had no hot water. As a matter of fact, no hot water in 3 of his 4 rooms and the common theme, they were all in "Main". A post surgical ICU nurse handed my husband a TV remote covered in bio matter. I looked at her in horror. I quickly took it from him. I gloved up and grabbed the PDI Super Sani-Cloth Disinfecting Wipes and wiped it down. My husband looked at me on Day 8 and said "honey, I can smell myself". I brought in a large mixing bowl, wash cloths, and towels to wipe him down every day because they weren't bathing him regularly (2 showers in 18 days). When I asked for hot water to bathe my husband in one of the final days at MMH, the nurse pulled the spigot on the coffee maker and filled my bowl. I was flabbergasted! You will be appalled. Avoid this place at all cost. read more

My mom was brought to the ER with severe stomach pain, the ER was excellent. But once they admitted her and moved her to a room they did not have no compassion to get things moving for her. She came in on a Thursday afternoon and finally on a Saturday afternoon they started the procedure that's suppose to help her stomach. I as the daughter and power of attorney is very upset that it took this long to get her the help she needed among other issues I had with the staff. I brought in my mom emotionally support service dog and they told me I had remove the dog because they didn't allow dogs and gave me there lame reasons why there was no dogs allowed even though the dog is my moms service dog. They are so slow to getting the treatment my mom needed, she has not been able to eat for 3 days but only ice chips, that's not fair to an elderly lady this should have been done the next day on Friday and should have been able to eat by Saturday, but no! At 5 in the afternoon the start the procedure and still has had nothing to eat. I am so disappointed in this hospital and how they have treated my mother. read more

ER response is atrocious. I spent over 3 hours waiting to be seen and diagnosed. There is no system to update progress towards being seen. I was having a heart attack heart of 30 they did nothing but stand there and watch me After test confirmed that I definitely was having a heart attack I was put in the hall without a monitor call light or anything. It took 13 hours to get me to the cath lab, I had a blockage in the widow maker. I'm lucky to be alive. I was sent home the next day, no icu no monitoring afterward nothing. read more

My husband was taken to the ER by ambulance after a massive heart attack. The ER staff was amazing, 100% saved his life. they were kind and considerate of me we spent three days in the ICU. Could not have been happier with the care and compassion we were shown there. Another four days in the telemetry ward. Again, consummate professionals, who also showed care and compassion to both of us. I can't tell you how happy I am that the ambulance took us there. I have no doubt that the care he received saved his life. I also appreciate the care and compassion. They showed me during my times of waiting for news of his condition. read more

My pregnant wife was all hooked up in excruciating pain and needed to use the bathroom. it took 22 min to get someone to help by then she already had defecated on her self by then and on top of that it took me to go find someone to have her helped and then the nurse (lead nurse) has the audacity to say "Theirs a bathroom right their if she needed to use it that bad why didnt she?" 1. is she a trained "professional" in the medical field to properly un-hook her self? NO. 2. The bathroom looked as if I stopped at the 7-11 in W Bradenton. Completely un-acceptable. I recently had to have my husband taken to this hospital. I cannot express how wonderful every staff member was. We are new to area and he went into the emergency room and then ICU. There is a charge nurse and a customer service nurse I guess. They go around and ask you if everybody's been treating you OK and have any concerns. I Was in pain for about 4hrs and the only thing they keep telling me that she is on her way. She was not!!!! I asked if she was going to come at all because I haven't had any of my am medication. It's been over 6hr since I have seen her. It was just to say that she was my nurse for that time. My food had no flavor and they tried to give me some turkey bacon and some cold coffee that was old and bitter. I told the doctor the "PCP" for that part of the hospital and I told the doctor about everything that happened and it was a lot more and the only thing he said "so you had a bad experience because of some coffee" I looked at him like if that's the only thing he captured and I was going crazy so I told him just to forget it. I ended up in the ER about 4pm on a Friday, I was experiencing chest pains so my wife and I went to Manatee Memorial since it was the closest and the cardiac unit is top rated. I went seamlessly through admitting and triage. After triage I was moved into an ER room, when the staff got me there the room was already occupied. I now wait in the hallway for 45 minutes while the room is vacated and cleaned. This was a larger room with a TV and landline phone. For some reason they moved me again ,while waiting for a room upstairs. When I got to the second room it was also occupied. Another hour watching a dog and pony show of staff trying to ascertain where I was supposed to go, and getting the room cleaned. This room was very small, no tv, no landline. ( My cellphone battery was almost dead at this point in time) I ended up spending the .night in that " closet" . It took a half hour to get a blanket, and when I asked for a pillow the circus act became laughable. I overheard a male voice say He doesn't know how lucky he is. A Resident came through and said I was being released. After an hour he came back and said I was staying another night. I asked for another room and was told one was not available. At this point in time I signed myself out AMA. A very frustrating experience. I have to add that the nursing staff was excellent. read more

My father went to emergency and the care and service was very good. 2 nurses checked us in and were very nice, then went into a room where we were checked on constantly. Andrew, Loo and I think Jacob helped my dad throughout the night and there several others that I did not get their names (including a travel nurse) and all were great. My dad was anxious to get into a hospital bed and when there was no staff or wheel chairs the "travel nurse" borrowed a wheelchair from another department and took my dad up to his room. Was brought to Manatee Memorial by ambulance on 11/27/22 with breathing problems. Spent 2 nights in the ER waiting for a room. Unacceptable!!! Was never given IV for hydration and was OD'ed on steroids. Sent home after 5 days only to end up at St Anthony's Hospital 3 days later (because there was NO WAY I was going to Manatee Memorial again) Was very dehydrated and off the charts white cell count due to over use of steroids. St A's basically said I had poor treatment at Manatee Memorial. NEVER again. I am considering moving back to St Pete mainly because of the poor choices of Hospitals and Medical care. So care was good, UNTIL the drive thru discharge! My mom with Alzheimer's was released the evening of Thanksgiving. They failed to treat her 1.7-1.8cm blocked kidney stone in her ureter and sent her home in a pull up. She was not incontinent (either way) prior to admittance. They rushed us off with NO care plan, no HHC and no rehab AFTER a pacemaker surgery. They were supposed to take her early in the am for the surgery, but made her wait until 9:15pm, she couldn't eat ALL day. She was admitted due to a syncope episode that occurred by a fall, causing stitches to her hand. She was told NOT to raise her left arm due to the pacemaker. She has Alzheimer's and can't remember, duh. Sending her home was negligent. She fell on Thanksgiving. She was re-admitted to St Joe South, the day after Thanksgiving, late at night. Before the morning, they did her emergency surgery on her massive kidney stone. Her right kidney is dead. Negligent, completely. However, no lawsuit bc she didn't die. Seriously. They did the tests at St Joe South that were already done at Manatee Memorial. Absolutely ridiculous and I'll be going to court to get the extra costs taken care of from the surgery and labs. Do not leave without a care plan, if you trust them at all. read more

I arrived to out patient services on 4/31/24 for testing and may I say the are second to none I had surgery there the staff where warm and pleasant to be around let me say the staff including doctor where very polite and answered all questions, I am 68 years old and I have never recieved such an outstanding service as I did at M.M. I was having active neurological issues (full muscle contractions of all the muscles in my face and loss of the ability to control my eyes - rolling around in the back of my head) and they gave me IV Benadryl and had me take a nap. I wasn't seen by a neurologist... No tests were run... I was scared and left undiagnosed when they discharged me with no answers, a $2000 bill, and let me drive home in a state I was not comfortable driving in. They didn't even ask if I had a ride home. They could not have cared any less about me, my medical care, or what happened to me when I left their facility. I was appalled by my level of "care" and I will do everything in my power to avoid going there or avoid recommending this hospital to any of my friends, family, or strange passerbys in the street in the future. The emergency room staff and ICU are amazing !! So professional n caring !!! They give you straight forward info and answer all your questions. Extremely attentive to their patient !! My Huge Complaint is the visitor waiting room is way TOO small, the size of a closet and NOT enough chairs for the visitors ! They expect you to stand in this stuffy dreary room.
