I had an exceptional experience at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital's Emergency Department. After two other healthcare visits that same week, the ER was my last resort, and I'm so grateful I came here. From registration, the medical assistant, nursing staff, transport, and radiology, every member of the team was kind, compassionate, and professional. I especially want to recognize Dr. Isaac and Dr. Rohan for their outstanding care. They took the time to listen, thoroughly evaluate my condition, explain their thought process, and personally checked on me multiple times throughout my visit--something I rarely experience in an ER. They even returned separately to review my discharge instructions and ensure I understood my diagnosis and next steps. As an RN myself, I know how busy emergency departments can be, which makes me appreciate their compassion, attentiveness, and dedication even more. I had an emergency with a horrible infection in my stomach that caused immense pain. I was taken to the nearest hospital which was HCA Northwest Regional. NEVER again shall I enter the doors of this hospital even on my dying bed I'll insist to be taken to Broward or the nearest Animal Hospital (which I'm for sure would give better care than HCA). The place is filthy, I was admitted at 7:45 p.m. and never was taken to a room until 8 a.m. the next morning. I suffered in their hospital for a week with several nurses that seemed to be overwhelmed with patients, the Specialists that I had must have failed their bed side manor as they didn't like me asking questions. It pains me to give such a low rated review as I believe in positivity and chances but after 7 days there I recommend you go elsewhere if you can. read more

Arrived 9am on a Friday with severe heart palpitations - pre-attack? They took me in right away, conducted numerous tests over the next hour, and they figured it out that it was was blood clots in the lung causing the heart to overwork. And by noon the visiting specialist (I so wish I could remember the doctor's name, he was very nice!) had removed all the embolisms. I had round-the-care attention from Nurses Sue, Benji, Alexis, Steve, and one other. ALL top notch. Exceptional care. I was discharged today- not fully recovered, but I'd say 70-80% which some medication and rest can accomplish the rest! So grateful to the ER team at HCA NW Regional! read more

The hospital is I e of the best, my complaint is that you can't get any answers from the nurses as to what is going on. When I said I need to speak to a doctor to hear results about my husband, I was told by a nurse the attending doctor said to take my number and he will call me, of course a whole day went by and no call from the doctor. They don't inform the family of results, they come in and tell the patients, now how many patients can remember. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO HERE!!! WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE EVER IN MY LIFE!!!... The nurses very negligent, had to constantly make complaints to the director (Brianna) on them for not doing their jobs and they didn't even clean up the floors and my room over the weekend. Whatever you do, do not leave your loved one alone at this hospital. All they wanna do is administer medication and go to the next patient. I had to be very "adamant" about the pain I was having to get tests done. I had to have emergency surgery 11/20, on the 3rd day I complained about pain the "Resident" immediately wanted to give me morphine for the pain instead of finding out why I was pain. Thankfully for the infectious disease Dr Wynn and the surgeon was concerned requested another CT scan and found out I had developed an abscess. I then had to have a procedure done for the abscess where a bag was placed on the right side of my body where is was impossible for me to even sleep on my right side, causing me to rely on the left side of my body. A black male resident told me he ordered physical therapy, I only saw them (1) time for (5) minutes during my over 2-week stay I never saw them again. I asked about why I didn't receive my therapy I was told they were short staffed. After several days of the painful bag attached to me it was taken out. A procedure was done by AWESOME DR Yates and his wonderful A-team! When they took me back to my room the Nurse Bendiana "never" came back to administer my meds until shift change approximately 4 hours after my procedure. When I told the night nurse of this with her standing there she made every excuse about why she didn't come back inside my room , even stating that she didn't know I was back. Another nurse Cristina dropped half of my pill on the floor and asked me if I still wanted to take it. I complained to the Dr and nurse Rose about my arm being sore and she (Rose with her Intern Haley present)said it looked fine, the Dr told me to let the nurse know so an ultrasound could be done. The nurse claimed the Dr never put the order in (4hrs later) and the AWESOME night nurse Mrs May (my angel) was adamant that Nurse Rose contact the Dr to approve the ultrasound. She (Rose) was gonna go home without doing this. The ultrasound was ordered and it was discovered that I had (2) blood clots in my left arm where the midline inserted. Another complaint was made to the Director Brianna and the next day Nurse Rose came in to apologize after she found out and blamed the Dr. I complained another night of really bad leg pain and the worst night nurse Emanuela told me she just got there, didn't have my info pulled up on the computer and that she has other patients. I asked her how long would it be for her to come back to me, I got no clear answer, just "I have other patients". I told her ok, I'll call the Director and she said ok and left the room. After speaking to the Director my nurse was change to my other angel India. On the last day 12/5/25, I was supposed to go home, while getting cleaned up Nurse Cristina bombarded me in the restroom with IV pole and started my meds and left. It went off stating error (air) line, Charge Nurse Vee came in the room and stated Cristina didn't open the portal on my arm to receive the medication. It went off again and she (Vee) came back rushing pressing on the monitor. All this done while I'm only in underwear. She depressed on the monitor and left, I began to shake, feel chest tightness and extremely lightheaded and a headache. I called my mom and for a nurse and Cristina came in and I told her Vee had ran my meds to fast causing a reaction, just like Charge Nurse Donovan had did days before.The next day I spoke to (Bridgette) and expressed that I was not taking any more medication via IV from the nurses because they were speeding them up causing me to have reactions. Great Maternity experience, the staff/nurses that are hospitable are extremely attentive

I would have to be dead and gone before I ever step for in this hospital every again. For me to have to go over 12 hours after being admitted to even see a doctor, seeing that I came in through the ER, that is complete nonsense. To have blood drawn 3 times and get 3 types of imagining completed but not speak or see any doctor, that's absolutely unacceptable. My wife had to go on a hunt just to find a nurse so that I can get my medication because no one was answering the button. We had to find the Nurse Manager to even see a doctor and then again to get discharged despite it being "completed" 5 hours ago by the physician. Every single one of them in there are incompetent and they need to start that place over from the ground up. read more

This is a ROTTEN HORRIBLE hospital BEWARE going here!!! A few years ago my husband who was so sick with many medical problems was left in the ER for 11 hours. Finally I got so annoyed and said when is my husband going to a room already. It was 2 in the morning that I was falling asleep. Finally they took him to a REGULAR room. These rotten doctors NEVER even called me to say he took a turn for the WORST and the same night was put in ICU! !!!! HOW RUDE CALL ME YOU BUNCH OF JERKS!! The next morning at 6 am I got a call and was told can you come to the hospital now. It broke my heart he was already DEAD!! Thanks for NOTHING. Call me morons before he died I would have been there to hold his hand and comfort him. To think I could have been there with him but NO they never called me until he was dead. As soon as he went from the regular room to the ICU I should have been informed of this. So now I held my husbands hand in the ICU while he was DEAD from 6 in the morning until 9 then I had to leave him. Boy I would have loved to be with him if they only had CLASS and EMPATHY for my feelings. He was the only guy I ever dated and we were married for 46 years and that's how I had to leave him. To think they knew he was suffering and NEVER even called me. He died the next morning and didn't even last a day!! HORRIBLE what they did to me even my brothers were shocked and said how RUDE they should have called you!! STAY FAR AWAY I'd rather die then go here!! BAD EXPERIENCE!!! When I arrived to ER I had blood pressure 220 x 110. My blood test results were bad: sodium -126, low potassium. After 4 hours being in ER blood pressure became 190 x 100 and they discharged me. I was afraid to go home and ask to stay in the hospital but they told me that they do not have a room for me. I left home. in 3 hours my blood pressure went up again to 220 x 110. My husband drove me this time to Sarasota Memorial in Venice hospital where I was admitted right away to ER and then to ICU. I stayed in ICU for 3 days before was discharged. This hospital treats their patients with the care. Be careful with Doctors Hospital and doctors in ER. You can die, they do not care! read more

I had a surgery scheduled for this hospital in 2023. The radiology department made a mistake and the surgery had to be canceled after I had checked in at the hospital. Although the surgery never took place, the hospital sent me an invoice for the pre-operative procedures. It's now 10 months later and I'm still disputing the charges I would never do anything at this hospital and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Northwest Hospital is a nightmare of you are admitted. The ER is basically competent abs of you can get treated and released, you are good to go! I have been treated there five times and my mom WAS treated there and if was the beginning of her demise. She was admitted for Vertigo, which turned into heart block and a pacemaker, and she remained there for eleven days. She was discharged to a horror of a rehab center in Plantation Florida where she was ill when they accepted her and did not send to back to Northwest who discharged her with an infection. By day three at this rehab, she could not breath and was sent to snother hospital where after fifteen days, she died. If you can avoid the hospitals out west, please do. We live in Ct and have never seen such poor care, nurses who are cold and inadequate and a team of hospitalists that are there for the money only, and think that seniors have lived long enough! Holycross is better, however, if one can bring their loved one, north for medical treatment, they should. Please...take heed.. read more

My mother went to HCA Florida Northwest Regional in Margate, FL. She was having trouble breathing so the paramedics came. In the ER they found some things that were additionally bad. So she was admitted. Beware! I visit her everyday no matter what, and I'm glad I do. The neglect for critical care patients is absolutely horrible. She was bleeding heavily and seen a bloody fingerprint on the call button! I was absolutely angry. They do not call family when something bad happens, I have Power of Attorney over her medical and finances, but still get absolutely NO CALLS. I filed several complaints but nothing happens no callback. Since it's Easter Sunday they all are unavailable. I have been documenting and photographing everything since I noticed the abuse and neglect. Stay away from this place. My mother came in for 2 stents in her heart and fluid from her lungs, and it became a 2 month stay. Between the bruises scars and now blood transfusion from letting her bleed 3 days, she now is getting another pint. She can no longer stand because they don't work with her move her legs nothing. I fear for her life but she's too fragile to move, I will definitely be calling for a meeting with the administrator come Monday. Unacceptable and disgusting. My mother had 2 procedures in the outpatient department at this hospital, which was a welcoming experience. The nurses provided excellent patient care to my mother. They were attentive and compassionate. The doctors answered all questions and concerns before the procedure started, which made my mother and I more comfortable. Horrible! I went to this the ER because this hospital is considered in network for my insurance. I regret going to this place. Positive: The check in process was easy and quick Negative: Once I was accepted they put me in a room and I kid you not, the nurse disappeared. No joke. I went and try to find him after waiting for an hour or more. When Dr Maria came to speak to me about my test results. All I got in short was I wasted my time. They made me give them me pee samples and they lost it twice. They barely listened to anything I said. Now I have this ridiculous bill. What are they charging me for? sitting and waiting?! Crazy! My husband just spent 11 days in northwest hospital in margate, fl in room 619. I am grateful to his team of doctors who gave us a diagnosis and hopefully he is on the road to recovery. However I requested 3 times to have the attending physician, Dr. Armendakis, call me and he never did. I had and still have questions about his condition. I am 72 yrs old and have never encountered a nurse who wasn't an angel, until this stay. He was totally immobile, his drug caused diarrhea and so he had to use a bedpan. One time when I was there they left him on the bedpan for 30 minutes and it was hurting him so I had to take matters into my own hands and take care of it. It was a horrible experience and I give credit to the good nurses like Jasmyn and a male nurse whose name I don't know who dealt with it professionally and in a timely matter on their watch. But others would just leave him and then make remarks such as "I don't get paid enough to do this", while emptying his urinal and "he's trouble" said a patient care coordinator to a nurse as they were changing his sheets. Because of his condition he is helpless and humiliated and for the nurses to make him feel like he is a burden only contributes to his depression. I don't know why you are understaffed and your staff feels underpaid. I'm not familiar with your budget or profit margin but I would suggest some training in patient care and paying for qualified caring personnel who can work under pressure. read more

Nurse treat me with respect, my room was clean every day, doctor were great, kitchen lady's were amazing. This place is hell on earth. They have left my loved one lying in his own urine for hours multiple times during his stay here. Communication with patients and family members is extremely poor. The doctors do not coordinate. Nurses are overworked and overwhelmed. Many of nurses and techs are doing their best in a horrible work environment. The nurse who screamed at my family member yesterday and took pictures of my loved one's naked body should be fired.. Garbage is left on the floors for days. I would not recommend HCA Northwest Regional Hospital to my worst enemy. Meanwhile, the CEO of the entire HCA chain, Sam Hazen, paid himself over 20 million dollars. Stayed there for 2 nights in June.Everyone that attended to me was always smiling and very courteous to my needs.Everyone from the preop, surgical, postoperative and 4th floor nurses helped me when needed or just SMILED.The 2 PTS and the OT made me stronger.The room was always cleaned and the food was really good.( MaryAnne was such a sweetheart)..The hospital room was clean and very little noise.Never comfortable in a hospital but all that worked with me did their best to help mend me.Kudos read more

I went to a walk-in clinic they would not touch me. They should go to the real hospital ER so I went here in Margate. I had the worst fall of my life in my house. I live alone with the elderly dog and I hurt so bad I couldn't function my aunt whose 82 took me to the ER. Here's the problem I have never heard so much in my life and they didn't give me pain pills as a matter fact, the doctor wasn't even in the room so I couldn't even ask for pain pills I've been in pain so long so much pain and since then I've been homebound and I fell twice on top of my wounds so my right leg hurts so bad I can't even.move. Shame on doctors You don't prescribe pain pills now I have to drink wine in order for me to get through a day and I still need pain pills and no one will give them to me I'm hopeless The hospital did not even give me a shot for pain just because I didn't write by ambulance. Delivered my son at HCA Northwest a few days ago, and I cannot be happier with my experience! From the super sweet staff to the overall comfort the Labor and Delivery floor provides, my birth experience has been absolutely wonderful. I was delivered by Dr. Pryor and her team and needed a C-section, and everyone in the room made me feel so safe and comfortable throughout the entire procedure. The nurses who attended to me before and after birth were so friendly and attentive, I truly cannot thank them enough for taking such great care of me during my stay. The lactation consultant, Krystina, is a gem! She worked with me to help me learn how to pump and achieve my breast feeding goals with my baby. She was so patient with me and baby, and guided me every step of the way to ensure I knew what to do. I'm so thankful for my experience here and felt like I was in great hands with every person I met. I look forward to working with this wonderful team here again when it's time for baby number two. I'm having a procedure on Tuesday 12/27/2022. My Dr gave me the instructions to arrive at 8AM for a 10AM procedure. I tried to register on line. It said to arrive at noon. After calling the Dr's office to confirm, they once again, said 8AM. Today, I get a call from the hospital that said arrive at 9. The list of medications they had on file for me was 6yrs old. Of course, the Dr. has an updated list. I've heard lots of horror stories about HCA hospitals, particularly, from traveling nurses that refuse to work at any HCA facility. 12/27/2022-UPDATE The actual staff that I had around me to were exemplary- Patricia was the Main person who prepared me. She was 100% attentive, listened to my concerns, and eased my anxiety, immensely. She was there after, as well. Nothing I can say would do her justice. A GEM. Dr. Sateeja, as always, explained everything, patiently & thoroughly. I don't recall the anesthesiologist name, but he was also informative, kind, & concerned. Sam was my post-op nurse. I don't know how he did it, but along with all the necessary procedures, he was quite thoughtful, letting me feel that I was in good, caring, capable hands. The care is marginal and the care process is completely disorganized. The staff are overworked and as a consequence edge right up on the line of rudeness and bullying the patient. I've participated in healthcare as staff in many settings for many years (inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care, therapy, long term). This was by far the worst patient experience I've had. I had the gross displeasure of being a patient in this institution from 10/15 to 10/20. Twice it took me hours to get medication for painful symptoms. I never had a bed change nor sponge bath. Urine samples were left languishing on my window sill and medical refuse was left strewn about my room for days. Moreover, for the duration of my stay I never had a conversation nor an examination with the MD that was assigned to my care. I was a transaction to these medical practitioners not a patient in need of care nor comfort. My bet is this is a "for profit" hospital that has cut expenses so much that they've forgotten their business is about the well being of patients. If you were a mother delivering a baby at this institution and the doctor wasn't available, they would tell you to cross your legs until he or she got there! read more

My sister-in-law was hospitalized there last summer. She had a yeast infection that apparently spread from her urinary tract to her blood. The infectious disease doctor did not think the yeast was the issue and kept her on strong antibiotic. Eventually they moved her to Holy Cross but it was too late to save her! read more

Whoever Jen is in the emergency department/reception, she needs to find a new job because customer service is clearly not for her. Got hung up on twice trying to get my prescription sent to the right pharmacy because they didn't listen the first time I said it. I want the people in these positions to realize no one if forcing them to take this job. The nasty attitude isn't warranted for me trying to get my prescription sent to the correct pharmacy. Doctor was nice, other nurses were nice but it was such a turn off i'd never come here again. Registration should have also LISTENED to what I was saying as well because I looked up the address and read it to her verbatim but these people are like robots on autopilot. read more

Worst hospital ever ! My mother has been in 3 different hospitals in the last few months ! This hospital is beyond incompetent from the doctors to the majority of the nurses. One nurse in particular had an attitude that was beyond rude . She has no business working in a hospital setting. Five different doctors coming but the room and they all say something different then they don't give the correct information to the nurses, which includes important things like the patient's proper medication.
