Hector was our MC for our wedding last week. We hired Hector to supplement our pianist who would be providing most of the music for the night. He was very professional and helpful in organizing the night. He worked in conjunction with our wedding coordinator and the night went smoothly. However, what made Hector truly go above and beyond was that he offered to perform as our DJ for one hour on the house. This was not a part of our initial agreement and he did so as a gift to us. He really got us partying and dancing and it was the perfect end to our night. Ill always remember dancing with my now wife by ourselves while our bridal and grooms party watched at the very end. I felt like Hector really cared about us and he is so much more than a hired vendor. Hector was our MC/DJ for our wedding in SoCal. He is an amazing professional to work with. He went above and beyond in helping us get ready, and made sure that we had a lot of fun. The only reason for not giving a 5 star review is that the song choices during the reception time were not as perfect for the crowd as we had hoped. Near the end we definitely got some awesome time on the floor, but I did wish we had been able to get some more fitting songs off the bat, there was some time when the crowd did not really vibe to the beginning songs. That being said, Hector is definitely someone I would recommend to friends. He was professional, friendly, and one of the best parts of the wedding experience. Hector deserves more than 5 stars! The morning following our wedding day, Hector was the talk of the after party. My mom LOVED him, and I think Hector might have been her favorite part of the wedding... He was not only an amazing DJ, but also Master of Ceremony and even part wedding coordinator. Hector met with us several times prior to our wedding day to make sure that we felt comfortable with the schedule and song choices. His motto is "it's all about what you want" and we felt that he honored that throughout the planning process. We hired DJ Hector for our wedding because he came very highly recommended. He was extremely professional and easy to work with during the planning stages--very organized and responsive to questions and concerns. We got married on a yacht, and from the beginning, he was very proactive about calling and visiting the venue to get details about set-up. He was a good MC, getting the crowd hyped and moving the ceremony & reception along, however he left out our "Thank You's" component of the agenda. We got so caught up in the moment that we didn't realize it till we got home & we feel terrible about it since so many people went above and beyond to make our special day happen & we didn't get the opportunity to publicly thank them. Hector told us not to worry about anything and we trusted him, but this was a big miss. Also, he didn't play the right song we had selected for our cake cutting, and left many of our "must play" songs out during the party. We didn't feel like he read the crowd all too well, but all of our guests had a good time nonetheless & he did take some requests. It could have been our venue, but there were also some sound issues throughout--speaker during dinner & toasts wasn't very audible and people had to shout into the mike. There was also a glitch in the music during our first dance, and he wasn't looking at us when were signaling him to stop the music, which made us feel a bit awkward on the dance floor. Most of the DJ's I've worked with have been predictable and just plain boring. DJ Hector is nothing like that. He kept my niece's wedding moving smoothly, without rushing, even though things got started late. I was impressed that the quality of sound was clear and balanced perfectly and never did we hear any kind of popping or screeching feedback. We had seen DJ Hector working another event and we thought he did such a good job we asked him to DJ at our wedding. He was very professional and did a perfect job as an MC for the entire reception. We gave him some songs that we wanted to hear and songs that we definitely did not want to hear and he put together a great playlist that had everyone dancing all night. He coordinated the caterer, the band, the waiters and most importantly us. We were running a little behind schedule after the ceremony and he got us back on time for the speeches, first dance, cake cutting, ect... which was a huge task since we had 235 people at our wedding. This review is long overdue because I felt bad for giving Hector anything but 5 stars for being the officiant at our wedding. He was super fun to talk to and provided an amazing ceremony speech for us at our wedding two years ago. But I have to give three stars because when each of our anniversaries so far have come up in our social media memories, I am left to remember that a couple of our requests for the ceremony were not met and it makes me a bit sad to this day. One being the request that our guests put away their cell phones for the ceremony and the second being the lack of a request for the guests to stand when I walked down the aisle. At first, I thought my guests were being rude and ignoring the announcements made until a couple of our close family and friends that were not participants in the ceremony let me know that these announcements/requests were never made of the guests. I was told by multiple people that he asked everyone to lower their phones to eye level instead. This is disappointing since I made it a point numerous times to be sure Hector would let people know we wanted their mobile devices put away. Why else would we hire professional videographers and photographers? He seemed more than happy to fulfill this request of mine and I trusted that he would follow through. Like I said, Hector did amazing putting on a very personalized and classy ceremony, but I still can't help but be disappointed in some of the memories I have. I attended a wedding at The Odyssey a few years ago, and knew who my wedding DJ would be years before I was even engaged. If I could give Hector 10 stars, I would. Honestly, BEST DJ/MC ever. I told him once, and I will tell him again, he was the best vendor we worked with during the process of our wedding. Hector made sure to contact us to make appointments with him to make sure he had everything covered for our wedding. He truly cared and gave us specialized care from the time we hired him, until pretty much now that the wedding has passed. The day of the wedding, there were a couple instances I asked him to play a few songs that I never mentioned during the meetings, and within seconds he had our requests taken care of. I can guarantee you that you will not regret booking him, instead, you will regret not booking him!! I was a PICKY bride, and my vendors were well aware of that. I wanted everything that I requested down to the T, but I never once hesitated putting all my trust in Hector. I wil tell you this, when my now husband and I were on our way to meet with Hector for our initial meeting, my then fiancee told me we were not booking him until we shopped around. I told my then fiancee I was okay with that, but I wanted to make it clear that I really wanted Hector as our DJ from my experience with him at the previous wedding.
