I am a simple guy. I cut my own hair most of the time - not shaved clean, but with clippers and no guard (1/2). The only person [anywhere] who has ever done the job perfectly is Norma at Head Snip! For $8 you get a proper and even cut (she pays attention to the fact that hair grows in different directions on your head), a thorough neck shave, and a relaxing shampoo. - Also, I used to have Norma cut my hair at a #1 on the sides and a #6 on the top. I've been going to Head Snip for about 3 years now for my haircuts. Not once have I've been disappointed. I have Maria cut my hair about twice a year and she always remembers the exact haircut I want. I decided to dye my hair and made an appointment through the phone and Maria still remembered who I was and my hairstyle. She gave me an estimate on the cost for a hair dye. When I arrived to the salon I showed Maria pictures of the ombre I wanted to obtain and she made sure I was satisfied with every detail. I didn't know much about hair dyes, and she automatically knew what would look good and what would not. The end results weren't like the picture, it was even better! The colors suited me so well and she was sweet enough to style my hair as well. I received so many compliments telling me that my hair stylist knew exactly what she was doing. I was a walk-in and they took me immediately. I'd been looking for an inexpensive barber/stylist in the area and was happy to find out The Head Snip was reasonable... but further happy with the cut I received, which was fast, professional, and looked exceptional. For the low price well under $15 (compared to places that are zooming to $20 for a basic haircut), I was impressed with the service and attention I received and the overall quality of the haircut. I'm trying not to giggle at all of the people singing the praises of someone they identify as "Maria" at this shop. Maybe there *is* a stylist named Maria at The Head Snip, but if it's who I think it is - the owner - her name is MARTHA and yes, she's all of the wonderful things people are saying about her. We no longer live in the SCV, but when we were poor students there nearly 30 years ago, Martha was beyond kind to us ~ and we will never, ever, EVER forget her. This marvelous shop has been serving loyal clientele since 1981 and we have nothing but the fondest memories of dear Martha. I went here over the weekend and had a good experience. They are very cheap ($20 bucks for a haircut and blowdry). As you can tell from the prices, this is not a fancy salon. It has a very old school barber shop feel to it. My hairdresser, Lily, was very sweet and I could tell she really wanted to do a good job. I didn't quite like my hair cut but that is my fault. I didn't really know what I wanted. As I said, it's not a fancy salon with experienced stylists that can improvise and create a great look for you. She baisically tried to do whatever I told her. I think next time I will take a picture of exactly what I want. My girlfriend got partial highlights and a haircut/blowdry. She asked for fine natural looking highlights for her brown/blonde hair. The hightlights came out GREAT and she only paid $45 TOTAL! Both of us have gone to places where $45 won't even get you a haircut and I really think she did a better job! The haircut looked great too. It wasn't exactly what my girlfriend had in mind, but again, I think this is where a picture would have really helped. My only small problem was that they use cheap sallys/drugstore type products - the shampoo/conditioner made my head itchy. The place isn't dirty or anything, but it doesn't have that superclean salon/spa aesthetic. It's very bare bones. Honestly, I probably wouldn't come here if money wasn't tight. At the same time, I get tired of paying a crap load of money at fancy salons that do the same damn thing only marginally better. I've had bad experiences at nice salons and have paid out of the ass for it. So, until I get a HUGE pay raise, I will skip the fancy pretentious salons and just pay $10 bucks for a haircut. I've been coming here on and off for years now and love the service. I usually come in for highlights and waxing. The hairdressers are really sweet and friendly. Note: they don't take check or credit. I usually end up spending around $60 a visit, which is really good. There's a salon within 100 feet of this place that charges twice that for the same service. Appointments aren't necessary unless you want a certain hairdresser; I never make an appointment and don't have to wait very long before I am taken care of. :) read more

Maria is awesome! Yes this is not a fancy top of the line salon but I don't care, they have done a better job then most places I've been to where I've paid an arm and a leg. I was so shocked on how cheap it was $20 for a wash cut blow dry and style can't beat that. Amazing, I will definitely continue to come here. My wife and I moved to Santa Clarita in 2012. I don't remember how we came across it but Head Snip was the first place here where I got a haircut. It is absolutely great! As others have said Maria really knows what she is doing and remembers me every time I come in even though I only go there about every 2 or 3 months. She's also very sociable which makes the time spent under the scissors more pleasant. I used to go to Supercuts which charges more and is very undependable since they have such turnover (I'm not sure if I've ever had my hair cut by the same person twice!) My wife and I are about to move about 2 hours north of here and I STILL plan on only going here on my way to SFV to see friends and family or do some business. They are that good. Thanks Maria!
