Two gentlemen visited and the one in charge, I guess, of customer communication could hardly speak English. It was a difficult situation. When I'm spending money and require detail, my preference is someone who can clearly communicate and not just point at things with and utter a few words. All of my sprinklers were not checked as a few are still watering cement. Instead of a easy experience, I pretty much felt hustled as the guy kept running back to me with a calculator to show how much things would cost without an actual price list. Also, he claimed one thing was done and I never saw it done. I'm not sure what the fee covers when they come out to your house. Ask many questions if you choose to hire this company. read more

Head to head installed a new controller system and shut off valve (apparently see below) in 2017 or early 2018. The charges were comparable to adding a new system. We have been return customers since then for our various minor issues since then. Service has been ok. We have leak in our sprinkler system that i noticed over the weekend. Called to see if they can come out and look at it. Next available appointment is over two weeks away, I explained that we had a leak, the shut-off valve they installed doesn't work (plastic part seems to have broken because it just spins) and their response---try shutting off the water at the street, see you in two weeks. When I reexplained the situation and asked if someone could just come out to shut off the water to irrigation, the receptionist was unsympathetic and rude. To be clear, not asking to jump the line, just asking for a bandaid (ie assistance with the valve THEY installed) until they can get out to fix it. So far, Shannon has written two Yelp responses and i got a call from Jeff...Maybe they could swing by and shut off a valve if they spent as much time working and responding to Yelp reviews . read more

UPDATE 2: Jeff did the estimate. He has a GREAT attention to detail. If we get a brand new system they will be my go to, with his excellent design skills that go above and beyond repairs. UPDATE: Jeff called me to explain the policy. He said customers will often book with multiple sprinkler companies at once, and then the first one out gets their work and people tend to not cancel their appointment with them (even though they don't want an estimate or work done anymore). That's terrible. These guys were (are?) my top choice based on location and reviews, and I was (am?) going to keep the paid estimate with them regardless, so I guess I just got stuck by a policy that was written for a different situation, unfortunately. Hopefully we can still work it out! ORIGINAL: VERY difficult to work with right from the start. I'm in the position of a handyman scheduling for a friend and client, who sometimes I can't get a hold of for a few hours, but when nailing down an appointment time, I told her it would probably be fine, I will check with my client and call back if the date didn't work, yet Shanon instructed me in no uncertain terms that they did not do placeholder appointments and she couldn't help if my client was difficult to get a hold of, and appointments were first come first serve, but I had to be a 100% sure I could keep their appointment or they would not ever make one for me. I asked her how long she would give me to hear back from my friend and client, and she said none. (In a nice way, she was a little cool toward me, but not mean.) I logically asked what if someone else took the next appointment in the meantime, that we'd have to start over and never be able to get it nailed down. She told me "first come, first serve" and that the problem was on my end and between me and my friend and client (in a nice way, for sure, but that's exactly what she communicated). She said due to their inconveniences in dealing with customers they have this as an inflexible policy. I understand, but business must be good and honestly maybe they are very good at what they do in order to have the customer be inconvenienced instead of having the secretary be inconvenienced by constant rescheduling (honestly, this really could be a lot to take on for a small company, credit where due - Shanon actually called me right back while I'm still waiting on calls from other companies - excellent on her and her team on this for sure, and maybe this policy is part of the reason why she was able to). Although, one has to wonder what would have happened if I wasn't honest and said, yes, it will 100% work, and then had to reschedule later? Would they have simply refused to work with me in the future? Would they have rescheduled? (That would contradict the policy that created all of this to begin with.) Finally, incredibly, she said I didn't have to be there. Just leave them access to the garage (if that's where the controller was), keyfob, pin, etc. So what we have here is a company that wants me to trust them fully with access to the garage and sprinkler system and receiving a trustworthy estimate (and/or performing work) without me even being there, but this company doesn't trust me when I tell them I will call back if I need to reschedule. I asked about inconveniencing a good customer with this policy and she said she didn't know if I was that kind of a customer yet, as we didn't have that kind of relationship yet, since we had not worked together before. Well, honestly, that's completely fair, as I'm sure they have been burned in the past. However, I have been burned in the past too. This should be a two way street, is a horrible way to start off, and I don't think it would have ever come up if I had not been completely honest and said "if for some reason that won't work I'll give you a call back." Sad day, because their work looks great, but I may never get to see it for the sake of simply being honest with them. We had some sprinkler repair work that needed done for quite some time, but kept putting off after terrible a couple terrible experiences with other repair companies. I finally decided it needed done and started searching. After reading the reviews here, I decided to give Head to Head a shot. They got us scheduled right away, and Jeff and one of his employees showed up on time. After going over the known issues, they inspected the system and came up with a game plan. We just had them install a drip line around our foundation after installing the full sprinkler system a little while back. They were able to link the drip line to our main system. They also took initiative and found two broken pipes and identified the issue / fixed them without being asked for free. One of the worst service experiences I've ever had was being a customer of this company. The physical work seemed acceptable, but the communication and service this company provided was so poor from the very beginning that the overall experience was horrible. Honestly, I've had a better service experience and communicated more effectively with what I assumed to be undocumented workers that have worked around the house than I did with the people who work for this company. If I wanted someone to just come fix problems with my irrigation system and nothing more, I would have hired one through Craigslist or outside Home Depot. The business manager didn't clearly explain the pricing and clearly explain the different services that the company offered. The first warning sign was when I called a few weeks ago and told the business manager what services in which I was interested. I wanted to winterize my irrigation system, which I found out from other firms is not really needed in Carrollton, Texas. The individual quoted $75 dollars for the work at the time, and then later after the service was performed I was told it was $85 from the business owner, when he finally, clearly, explained the different types of services offered. When I decided to employ the firm for the work, I spoke to the business manager the evening before. I initially canceled, but I called back a few minutes later to re-establish the appointment. I gave her the gate code to access the system controller and informed her that I would not be available at the home because I would be at work. Anyone with common sense knows that the gate code OPENS and closes the garage. The next morning during my executive board meeting, which includes the CEO, I unexpectedly received an invoice for $90 with the notes reading that I was not at home and didn't answer the phone. I was forced to leave an executive board meeting twice the morning of the appointment because the communication was so bad between the business manager and owner. It was embarrassing to have to go to the bathroom to work on the situation. The owner admitted himself that he didn't fully read his customer notes which contained the gate code. One of the essential skills to running a successful business would be to thoroughly read the customer's notes. What happened in my opinion is that the owner had a temper tantrum because he thought I was a "no call no show" for the appointment so he sent the invoice as a knee jerk reaction. So, do I get to send you an invoice now because you disrupted me from doing my job because of stupidity? The worst part about the whole situation is that the owner blamed me - the customer- for the mishap instead of fully taking responsibility, which he will also mostly like do again when he responds to this review. One of his responses was that he asks all his customers to be able to respond to their phone while getting service. It is unreasonable for some customers to be able to immediately respond to their phone while at work, and if you have that expectation, then that should be communicated to the customer. It was not. Another response was that maybe I should have scheduled the appointment for when I would be at home. First, you were booked until December. Second, that's irrelevant, if I gave you all the information you need, and you just didn't thoroughly read the notes. I know that you stated you have 4,000 customers, but you need to focus on giving great service to customers one at a time. Finally, I don't like the fact that you put me on the spot to make an immediate decision to decide whether to do hundreds of dollars of work because if you had to come back there would be another service charge. Deciding in the bathroom, while a during a very important meeting is being conducted is very inconsiderate. Overall, I just got the "used car salesman" experience from this guy who is focused solely on money. Adding insult to injury, this firm plastered a sticker with the company name and logo onto my house without my approval, which I had to scrape off. That is a violation of personal property and you should ask the homeowner before doing so. Next time I'm going to "Heads Up Sprinkler Co." or "1st Choice Sprinklers" read more

Stick with Jeff cause his reputation speaks for itself! We have dealt with our fair share of unreliable and unorganized businesses, from landscapers to contractors, since we bought our home. It was so refreshing to see how this company stands out! Scheduling was easy! Jeff called before his arrival within the early part of the time window and showed up shortly after. First thing we noticed and that my husband commented on what how personable Jeff was, which is not a comment my husband would usually make. He and his assistant ran some tests, diagnosed the issues and provided a quote with several options to meet our budget and prioritize important issues that needed addressed first. Sprinkler systems are not cheap but his prices were way better than I expected and he only uses high quality parts which was evident when he compared our current heads to his and there was a world of difference evident by even a DING DONG like me who knows nothing about irrigation. They were efficient and had our entire broken mess of a sprinkler system up and running within a couple hours! Jeff went above and beyond and gave me a lesson in using our programming system.
