I found this local gem to take my Covid-19 rescue dog to. They couldn't be sweeter to me and my lovely rescue. Anthony makes quick appointments and is very accommodating. My dog looks great and they get her in and out. Prices are reasonable too! Highly recommend.

We always have a great experience here! My dog is a new to me rescue and is a tough one to groom! He doesn't like having his head touched or combed or cut and the same goes for his paws. I heard that three of them had to hold him while they gave him trim in those areas. So if you have a little Tasmanian devil like I do, make sure you tip the groomer well! They're friendly place It's to visit, fast, and they always have an opening same day during work week business hours. read more

They took great care of my 120lb pyrenees mix! She came out looking and smelling amazing, dog seemed happy so I have no doubt that the staff were great with her, and the whole experience dealing with them was quick, easy, and affordable. They even hooked me up with a coffee voucher for Goodwins which was totally above and beyond anything I expected. 10/10 will be returning in the future! read more

I've brought my long-haired husky mix here twice and they do a really great job. I'm amazed that they can get her washed, dried, and more in an hour...she comes back to me silky smooth and happy. Even though I live in Lake Arrowhead, it's worth the drive. read more

Awesome place! My cat has long fur and gets HORRIBLE KNOTS under her legs and arms. I tried cutting them, but they were so close to the skin that I was very scared to hurt her. I just moved here from NY, and have not had much luck finding a new groomer, even groomers located up to an hour away! I searched all over for a place that will groom cats (there are not many places that are capable of grooming cats that don't require anesthesia be used - an expensive and stressful option that only seems reasonable if you have a abnormally wild cat). Finally I came across Head To Tail! Just talking to the man on the phone sold me. He was very friendly, and was able to get me in later that day in order to help my poor, knotted cat. This is BY FAR the best place I've ever been for grooming. The staff was very friendly, but more important, the groomer, Tony, was an AWESOME groomer. I DON'T KNOW HOW HE WAS ABLE TO SHAVE MY CAT, ALL WHILE KEEPING HER CALM AND PAIN-FREE, GIVEN HOW KNOTTED UP SHE WAS!!! I'm just amazed with Tony's grooming ability. He was so caring and good with my cat, and he was VERY thorough with the grooming. It's clear Tony takes his work very seriously, and he is very very good at what he does. He even made me feel comfortable and happy to be there. I mean HAPPY?? During the grooming of my cat?? Now that is saying something!! --AND-- my cat looks SO PRETTY (an unexpected surprise since I told tony I only cared about getting the knots out, what she looks like after is irrelevant in comparison). Suffice to say, I'm very impressed. So I just had to write this review as an attempt to show my gratitude, especially because I felt like I wasn't charged nearly enough for what Head To Tail offered my today! And of course there's my selfish motivation for this review: to help promote Head To Tail simply because I NEVER want this place to go out of business :). Though, just based on the other reviews, I don't think this will ever happen :) read more

We took our evil, biting cat in for a haircut; and were completely surprised how quick and painless it was for us and Grady. Shane gently held her, and made sure she didn't bite or scratch, while Tony shaved and groomed her to perfection. Grady seemed to enjoy it, and now she's ready for the hot summer. Tony is the BEST!!! My hubby and I were out walking our mixed German Shepherd on a Saturday morning. We walked by and decided to stop in and check on what the cost would be shave her down for the summer (nothing worst then cleaning up dust balls of loose hair around the house that are bigger then most cats.) Anyway, he said he could take her right in, and would give us a call when she was done. After hanging out with him and learning about the charming town we just moved to, we left. Tony called us about 90 minutes later when she was done. We went down to get her and she looked SPECTACULAR, PERFECT shave, AND he trimmed her very hard to trim toe-nails. TONY ROCKS!!! A Truly Wonderful Experience - Just moved up the Hill from the OC and was looking for a skilled, patient and personable groomer for my three Yorkies (Mama Coco Chanel and her two kids Ringo Starr and Zsa-Zsa Gabor). Everyone we consulted in Lake Arrowhead suggested Head To Tail so we decided to try it. Well, I"m pretty fussy and far more than a little over protective when it comes to my "furbabies!" The staff at Head to Tail was great and definitely didn't disappoint. They were so friendly, accommodating, patient and kind. So happy with how quick and easy it was to get my little guy groomed today! I called earlier this week for an appointment today, they said to bring him in at 8:00. He was out of there today by 9:00, happy and perky because he could see again after his wonderful haircut! All of the staff was friendly and good with the dogs, and I love that it only took an hour because I hate leaving my pup waiting for hours in a cage like at other places. We will definitely be returning! read more

Man do I love this place. I'm blessed to have such an awesome business in town. I call ahead to set up an appointment for my full breed Siberian husky, the moment I walk in they grab my husky and start washing him. Before I start walking out I can see him being worked on. They always have me come back in one hour. Most groomers want my dog for 3-4 hours. Im not a big fan of leaving my dog In a crate while he waits to be groomed. It is also more affordable than other groomers down the mountain which is awesome. I love this place. Hope everyone loves there service as much as I do!!!! read more

I take my Great Pyrenees and my lab mix there and used to bring foster dogs to them a long time ago. Tony is always great and the staff is very kind. They always do a great job and my dogs come home smelling and looking great and as happy as they can be! read more

Called Tony for an appointment for my Cuban Havanese LoLa and was able to get a same day appointment. They did a great job bathing and cutting her. Picked up a pretty,clean little dog. Lola was cut, bathed and happy. What definitely be taking Lola there on a regular basis. Thank you. read more

I've been meaning to write Tony and his staff a glowing review since the first visit but haven't till now. Tony is always very accommodating and I've never had any issues w/ scheduling a grooming for my 16 mth old Aussie Doodle named, Tugger. They were highly recommended to me by friends from the Mackay Dog Park in Lake Arrowhead so I went last Summer - so glad I did! Though my doodle had to be completely shaved today due to severe matting from missing his last 2 grooming appts, he looks super cute and 10# lighter! The thing I love about Head to Tail is that my dog never has to sit in the kennel for a long period of time - he's a big baby and has huge separation anxiety so I'm comforted knowing that he's not in "puppy jail" for that long! We moved up here from Rancho Cucamunga and needed to find a local dog groomer for our two dachshunds, we were still driving them down the hill for grooming. We tried Head to Tail and are so happy and excited to have a groomer that is close to home AND does an excellent job! Tony is super friendly and genuinely cares that you are satisfied. We have a long hair doxie and he made sure that we were happy with the trimming down of his coat, even called to follow up to make sure my wife was happy when I brought him home! His store is clean and to top this all off they are done quickly! Since we commute down the hill for work 5 days a week, we are super happy we don't have to drive our dogs down for grooming anymore, we have found our local dog groomer!! read more

My dog got sprayed by a skunk last night and they got her in first thing this morning and not only got the stink out, but did the best job grooming her that I've ever seen! This grooming shop is the greatest and Tony is the best very friendly and knowledgeable --- he always comes to my car to take my dog because I sometimes have trouble getting up the steps and he always brings the dog to the car. His grooming prices are reasonable compared to other groomers and he gets the grooming done in a great timeframe. Usually within an hour to an hour and a half. Rocky loves his grooming with Tony - Rocky is an Australian Shepherd and is rather furry but Tony does a beautiful grooming him. He always smells so nice and it lasts for a long time. Would recommend Tony 100% and his groomers. read more

My dog was seriously bad, just pounds of fur and super matted. I made an appointment and my dog was ready to go home in an hour. Tony is super nice and funny too. This place is definitely better than another place we've taken him in Crestline, where my dog would be there (in a cage) from early morning to evening. My dog came home very happy! read more

Tony was able to groom our husky same day and got him out in an hour! Wonderful results, my pup is super clean, pretty and shiny. Great, knowledgable staff and Tony even gave us restaurant suggestions and directions so we could get lunch while the pup got bathed. Really wonderful groomer, and super reasonably priced too. We left with a bag of dog food samples, vet rec and smiles/wagging tail :0) read more

Tony is the greatest. I love the dog cologne that he uses, my dogs come back so fresh and clean smelling. I have taken my Beagles to other groomers in the past but now I only use Tony. His little store is nice too for things like glucosamine for the dog's knees. Great local business to support, I will continue to use Tony for a long time. read more

The guys working here are top notch. Very friendly. Very knowledgeable. I brought our very large, long haired cat in to see if they could help us figure out what his skin condition was. They gave him a medicated shampoo bath and clipped his nails for me. You can tell they care about the animals and they know what they are doing. I couldn't recommend them any higher. read more

It Doesn't Get Better: Your Dogs will get treated as if they were the Beloved pets of the owner and the staff. Our "Old Boy" 15 - His daughter - [Aussies] and Our Heinz Varieties 2 year old shelter rescue. Send off 3 dirty scruffy looking Dogs and you get back 3 Beautiful Sweet Smelling Lifetime Companions. With the "Old Guy" you also get a bottle of Glucosamine for his Arthritic Hips. I Love This Place For My Dogs. read more

We moved to Lake Arrowhead recently and needed to find a place we could rely on to groom our super wiggly dog. Decided to give Head to Tail a try during the week of Thanksgiving and scheduled an appt. for our Australian Shepherd who was looking really shaggy. I dropped him off at 8am and they said he would be ready in an hour. I didn't believe them because anywhere I took him where we used to live would take sometimes up to three hours. Sure enough, at 9am he was ready and looked absolutely fabulous! No mats, no shagginess and our dog seemed pretty happy too. Very friendly guy, good prices and great work! We took him again before Christmas and they again did a fabulous job. We are definitely fans of this place and will plan on bringing our dog in once a month if we can! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Tony Leonhardt L.

Tony Leonhardt grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, an only child. His elementary school report cards would say, "Tony is a really great student... if only he could mind his own business a bit better... " He joined the military after high school, becoming a rescue swimmer for the U.S. Navy. In 1992, after leaving the military, Tony took over the Head to Tail Pet Grooming in Crestline and has spent the last 20 years serving his customers with attention and quality. It seems that his grade school tendency to show interest in his friends hasn't changed a bit as the front deck at the grooming shop is a popular hangout for Crestline old timers sharing their stories. Tony has 3 kids, a spectacular wife and a rambunctious Maltese Bichon.

I've been coming here for almost 2 years now since before they had their new location and I can't recommend them enough. My boys are excited when walking in each and every time. I never have any issues picking them up after (no cuts, rough handling, or anything of that sort.) the best part about bringing them home is they go right to sleep after their exciting trip to Pup N Suds.

I had left. No lie was gone for only like 10 min when they suggested for me to come back when he was ready & they'd call me. It was legit 10 min later! As soon as I walked in, the lady in charge referred to my dog as the "devil" at first I thought it was funny because he is very afraid of the groomers & even gives us a hard time to bathe him! But, he's a PUPPY! I asked if she trimmed his nails & she said no, I offered to hold him while she did that. Pretty much the only thing they did was bathe him, trim his front hairs by his eyes & charged me for full service. What really bothered me is that when I picked him up, he was terrified, shaking & was totally out of it for 2 whole days! I couldn't stop thinking what could've happened in the 10 minutes that we left our puppy! These people have no patience & he also was refused a bandana! I will not be returning!

I called head to tail in the morning and was told a good time to come in as I did. I also have an infant so I brought the dog on a leash and the baby in the baby back pack. As a new mom I was hoping this would go as smooth as possible. Tony and Shane were very calm and professional. Shane hooked the dog up and held her while Tony cut the nails and recommended filing them as well. He took my payment via credit card and carried the dog out to my jeep for me. I was in and out. It was a very pleasant, quick and simple deal, as it should be. I am very happy and will be back again and again. This is my new place for my pets. I couldn't be happier. I would recommend them to anyone. I was looking for a place for my dog to get a quick and simple nail trim, as I had previously learned this can actually be a not so pleasant experience. I had taken my dog to another local place in town and was traumatized, it was very chaotic. My dog was scared and so was I, not to mention she kept cutting the nails too short and there was blood everywhere. It was like she was blindly cutting them. It was terrible! I took my best friend to head to tail, the owner seemed really cool!! I thought everything was great until i got home! my dog was acting like he was in pain??? i took him to the vet and the vet told me his front nipples were SHAVED OFF!!!!! I will NEVER go back there again!!!! If you love your dog or cat? Think Twice about going to this place!!!! i have heard from other dog owners at the doggy park that he cut off a dog's ear and super glued it back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO mad!!!!!! The nipples do NOT grow BACK!!! nor does a Dog's Ear!!!!!!!!!!! My friend had to take her dog to a stylist to get her dog's coat to grow back correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The owner is abusive and treats his customers with disrespect. I would not go there again. Go to Doggy Style in Crestline, they do a good job and are less expensive. read more
