I was going to Izzy for hair cut and touchups and she was just great and the prices were wonderful!! Unfortunatelly, Izzy left this place and I went today to Jessica for highlights and touchups (my grey hair). The color she did, is great. The style - awful. But, the biggest problem I have is the price. When I called to make an appointment, I asked for the price. The lady, I talked to, told me that it will be altogether $173. I have short hair (like pixie) and the highlights were for half of the head (just crown). Today I was charged not the $173 but $232. I asked why it that - they didn't have the explanation. The prices online tells even less: single process color - $60, highlights -$93. So, be aware of that and be prepared. read more

I cannot believe that I haven't known about this salon when I live nearby! This place has been around since 1983 and I just found them yesterday! So glad I did because my old salon was getting ridiculously expensive, almost $100 for a haircut. HQDS is not cheap but they have decent prices. Jessica was my stylist/trimmer/cutter. Such a bad experience from the hair colorist Jessica who for some reason just couldn't take accountability that she wasn't as a skilled colorist as she thought she was and completely messed up my hair. I asked for golden medium brown I got a burgundy reddish color. When I voiced my opinion to Janet the owner I was getting gaslighted into thinking that it looks good and that's what I asked for when I didn't and showed inspo pics too Janet the owner ended up fixing it and did a great job but I tried to give feedback in a nice way and let her know that Jessica should have used better listening skills as I kept using the words "medium brown" "light", " expensive brunette like Hailey Bieber" Janet the owner didn't want to hear any of my feedback as a customer and just brushed it off and completely acted like I was in the wrong I think Janet and Jessica should be more open minded and less stubborn to feedback to prevent something like that from happening to another customer. I will obviously not be coming here and don't recommend. I didn't want to give this review but I think people need to know this colorist isn't all that great. I was never rude or disrespectful to the staff as Janet the owner keeps saying I did not swear, yell or did any name calling. read more

I moved to the area a few years ago but never found a stylist that I loved. Plus, my haircut is honestly very easy - a trim with long layers. I would usually pay upwards of $60 for just that not including tip!!! I do my own dye at home. I found Headquarters about five minutes away from my house and I've been going here for about a year now. It's a no frills place. Very friendly vibe and they carry Aveda products. Prices are very reasonable - I think my cut is around $35! Which I appreciate. I always make sure to tip well. I've always been happy with my cuts there and will definitely be going back! read more

I had an absolute pleasure getting my haircut and colored here! I am originally from Illinois but a couple of years ago I moved to Arizona but was out in IL for a wedding and decided to get my hair cut and colored for the occasion. I had Jessica as my stylist. I showed her pictures of the cut and color that I wanted and she matched it perfectly! She even styled it for me since I told her I was there for a wedding. I got tons of compliments on my hair that day. The price for the services were very reasonable IMO. I was also very honored that Lisa (I assume is the owner) called me the next day and left me a voicemail letting me know she was happy that I chose their salon even though I was visiting from out of state and whenever I am in town and need a haircut/color to please feel free to reach out to them to make an appointment. In all my years of getting my haircut/colored I have never had a salon call me and thank me. That really shows me that they care whether you are a long time customer or a temporary one. If I still lived in IL, this would definitely be my go to hair salon. Please ask for Jessica. Highly recommend! PS. Great place to get a haircut. The workers are friendly and they really make you feel at home while you're doing business with them. My girl Mellet is awesome. Im sure everyone else over there is outstanding but if you get a chance give her a try. She's awesome and really looks out for the best interest for the customer. If you're unsure on what style you want, she even gives tips on what may look good. Of course it's up to your discretion. I wrote a review before, but have to share another after today. Since my first glowing review, my younger daughter and I have both had our crazy unruly hair cut at Headquarters, and loved it. Also brought in my giant, almost-two-year-old, wild toddler today, who has a thick head of long crazy hair too. I have decided that William has the patience of a saint and the reflexes of a cat, because my son didn't stop bobbing and weaving the whole time. He kept trying to jerk his head around to see the scissors and was NOT interested in having the smock on ... at all. Will never flinched, and calmly chatted while engaging in practically a contact sport with shears. By the end, our little one was charmed and smiling. I am always afraid to get my hair cut because it never goes as planned. My hair ends up being cut way too short or not how I want it! But after finding out that a friend of mines, Mellet, is now a hair stylist, I decided to give it another shot! I was still nervous but not as much since I knew my hair stylist! Before making any moves on your hair, Mellet will walk you through the process and confirm it's what you want and the length is good! Also, I got my hair colored for the first time ever at a salon! I told Mellet I didn't want it too bright and the colored turned out great! I've been receiving nothing but good compliments on my new hair. It's been about a month since I got it cut + colored and I am still in love with it! Throughout the whole process, I heard all hairstylists getting to know their clients to make them feel more comfortable instead of being silent as I encountered at other salons. Lisa Barba has been my hair miracle worker for 30+ years. She is the ultimate professional, always patient, always understanding and most of all knowing my limitations and patience with my own hair! If she's not happy with her work, she will adjust until it's perfect. Her salon is cozy and makes you feel comfortable. Warm shoulder wraps, eye masks and hand wraps after gentle massages while you are waiting for color to process, or conditioner to do it's magic. Her staff are like family, all working together to make sure your experience is always the best. I live in the city, but will drive the 20 miles past many other salons to stay with Lisa and Headquarters! She and her salon are simply the best! read more

I am frequently told how great I look and I owe it completely to this salon, which keeps me up to date in style with hair and make up. It's aveda - without pretense. It's easy without being cheap. It's style without extreme pricing. Tips: stop by and meet the stylists to see who is the best fit. Nothing long and involved but you are trusting them with your doo - take the time to find the right stylist. Make an appointment in advance - plan on having to book a week out ... That's pretty standard for a good shop - it means they are busy which means they have happy customers ... You want to be a happy customer. Try an aveda scent at least once in your life. You will love it - that I feel clean, energized and beautiful feeling you have when you leave their store will be reignited in you. So worth it. There is a freaking amazing scalp massage involved - ask about it and you shall receive - again, they are amazing. read more

I have found my new stylist and salon- William at Headquarters Design Studio! I am over 50 and have thick, collar-length hair so straight it will not hold a curl or even wrinkle! This makes a good precision cut necessary. After my stylist of 10 years suddenly dropped off the face of the earth, I went to another salon only to receive the worst haircut of my life. I then chose Headquarters and was refered to William. What good fortune! He was able to deal with the mess at hand and create a style so totally flattering to me that I received three compliments the afternoon I left the salon. We had a great consultation to figure out what would work for me and he showed me pictures of what he had in mind. This was fantastic since I had no clue of what could be done with my head at that point. The shampoo and head massage was great! The time and care he took to create my cut was above and beyond my expectations. When I asked for recommendations for a new blow-dryer, he was quick with suggestions and reasons for them. He is great at conversation yet not overly chatty. Weeks later, I have no problem managing my style with ease. To me, William is a master of his craft.
