I wasn't even going to get food, but the smell was tantalizing and I was so hungover, so I got a sausage egg and cheese. the sausage, however, was essentially a hot dog. I'm sure it was probably of a high quality but it was a link sausage with a snap, almost impossible to eat in a sandwich and just inappropriate in a breakfast sandwich. I came here to celebrate the weekend and had such a fabulous time. I was pleasantly surprised by everything I had here! The Peachy matcha latte was not too sweet and had the perfect balance of fruity peach and matcha. The Jefferson Ave (salmon lox) bagel with gluten-free bagel was so delicious. I was so excited to hear they have gluten free bagels because of my newly discovered GF intolerance so finding a good GF bagel was golden!! For a few weeks in the dark winter months, Headrest was my religious go-to coffee spot in the mornings. No other spot makes quad-shot lattes around here the way they do. The latte is naturally incredibly strong and the hallmark of a good cafe for me is creativity with seasonal lattes and they have many to choose from. Strawberries with espresso, amazing. Peanut butter lattes, fantastic. Caramel that still allows for the espresso flavor to come through, wonderful. A good place to get a gift card and present to a friend if you want to gift good coffee. The aesthetic inside is also what I want my personal living room to look like. (And you can bring part of it home by purchasing their posters or mugs and get a free drink of any size to go with it!) read more

This is a tiny coffeeshop with lots of interesting specials. Behind their too-cool facade though, the baristas are actually really nice even when they're busy. I found the matcha to be too mild and milky but it sounds like their other drinks can be good! They're not unreasonably priced (I think around $5-6 for their drinks+extra for alt milks, etc.) and they have a punch card as well as random coupons if you sign up for their rewards program. read more

I've given this place several chances over the over the year, but I keep walking away feeling like my presence is more of an inconvenience than anything else. The owner has been rude or dismissive on multiple visits, and at some point I had to ask myself why I was putting up with that for an expensive cup of coffee. (For me coffee isn't the center of my review, so take it as you will). Bushwick has so many great cafés and small eateries, places where you're greeted with a genuine hello, a smile, or at least a sense that they're glad you chose to walk through their door. I can point to five spots within a 3 blocks that make you feel like part of the neighborhood. That kind of warmth is the essence of Bushwick to me and it's a feeling a lot of local people fear will be lost when an area becomes "gentrified". I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, and this isn't meant to be harsh. I genuinely hope it's a small nudge to soften the energy a bit. At the end of the day, it's coffee usually the start to a persons day. No one should walk in and feel unwelcomed in their own neighborhood. read more

Their drinks are delicious! So good I went twice to dry another specialty drink. I loved the horror themed menu! I was bummed I didn't have the opportunity to try the food before it sold out- but them selling out quickly speaks for itself. The staff was so friendly and the interior is so lively. This café checks all of the boxes for me. The coffee is consistently good AND the baristas are pleasant. Not something that can be said of any of the other cafés in my area. The owner is sometimes working behind the counter too and she's great. It makes me glad to know I'm supporting a business run by someone who clearly cares about the neighborhood! Plus all of the plants are a nice touch. I walk 15 minutes out of my way to go here because it's just that good. read more
